Smiling, Forgoil looked from the fallen angel to the flowers and lastly at Persephone. The girl still showed the last remants of fear in her eyes, and Forgoil believed he knew why. He didn't realize what danger he had been in; what could have happened to him at any second; he had been very fortunate.
Giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze, Forgoil let go of her and walked away from Persephone. When he had walked to the spot where Kaiser had sat; Forgoil stopped. "I'm sorry."

"You didn't know what you were dealing with, right? I mean, it was a mistake, and we all make them..." She didn't want to admit that she had been afraid to lose a person so close to her. Forgoil was a part of the family she had always wanted. What would she had done if she'd lost him?

"No, this isn't alright. I should have thought clearly on the matter, but I didn't; Kaiser could have slain me at any second, yet he didn't. There was more at stake than me, Persephone. There was you", said Forgoil in a whisper-like voice that he reserved for moments when he had trouble expressing his feelings. He turned his gaze away from Persephone, blinking away tears that he didn't want her to see.

Persephone could sense the tears. She didn't need to see them to know that they were falling. "Sometimes, we have to take risks. Yea, sometimes they're stupid risks, but we still have to take them. I was ready for anything to happen. The whole time you were talking to Kaiser protective spells and healing spells were running through my mind." She reached out a hand to Forgoil.

He recoiled from Persephone's touch; not that he didn't wanted to be comforted, but because he reeled from what could have been stolen from him. Kaiser could've destroyed his sanity, ripped into multiple pieces, or far worse. Forgoil doubted that any spell Persephone could have used would have been able to stop Kaiser.
He turned to face Persephone, the tear stains evident on his face, and stood still as if he was carved from marble. He couldn't bring his eyes to look at those of Persephone's, but he still said what was on his mind. "Nothing you could have done would save us if Kaiser wanted to hurt us. If you had died...", said Forgoil; his voice quivering with the last few words, but he couldn't continue and averted his eyes.

Persephone's green eye's filled with tears. She knew that she couldn't prevent anything. "I guess, we just have to learn to be more careful. We learn from our mistakes, it's what makes us grow." She didn't know what else to say. She was trying to be mature. She was trying to keep herself from sinking to the ground in thankfulness. She was trying to keep herself from doing all those things.

Forgoil listened as the wind swept through the trees and felt it brush against his face. The moist tears that clung to his face were flung into oblivion and he felt calmer, and could once more think logically. Persephone was right; he was punishing himself for something that was pointless and only now with her intervention had he realized it. He turned to look at her again; he stared at her figure which seemed so distant, but was not distant at all.
She cares for me, thought Forgoil, She cares for me.
A small smile crept onto Forgoil's face, as he said, "You really are quite the philosopher, Persephone."

Persephone smiled slightly. "No, it's just that I think too much at times." It was true too. She would stay up late at night, fearing the nightmares that plagued her sleep. The only thing she could do that late was think. "We should head up to the school though."

She was right; the cause for his distemperment was this graveyard; just being there made him abandon reason and consort with madness. He smiled to himself, thinking of a line from Hamlet that would adequately describe his mood, but now was not the time to dwell on dismal thoughts.
Forgoil walked closer to Persephone, saying, "Yes, I believe that you are quite right. After you Persephone."

Persephone looked her friend over once again. She wanted to make sure that he was ok, and not just in body, but in soul. She saw no lasting scars in his eyes, and thought that he was ok. "Alright, but maybe you could tell me why you were here...but not right now, maybe someother day..."

"Yes", said Forgoil, "Perhaps another time." He gazed dreamily at the Castle and imagined the warmth that awaited them there. Slowly, Forgoil began walk to the Castle with Persephone, but turned one last time and whispered a silent goodbye to Kaiser and the fallen angel.
"Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
