A young Hufflepuff girl sat alone under a giant tree that shadowed her appearances. It was a bright day, if it wasn’t for the white fluffy snow around the place, you would have thought it to be summer. She watched the ripples in the water that the slight breeze made absently for she wasn't thinking much about that, she had more things on her mind. The girls name was Qarrien and she often sat there under that tree thinking of life. She hadn’t as of late but she had wanted to a number of times. Qarrien had tried though to avoid the place because she had wanted to meet new people. But she found every one was busy today up at the castle and she thought the only place for her was here.
She had dark as the night eyes and today’s hair color was black with bright green streaks throughout it and a purple fringe. Qarrien always changed the color of her hair, her hair was something she took pride in. She couldn’t even remember what color it was originally she had been changing it for that long. She was wearing a black top with sleeves that came away from the top itself, there was a ball of ember fire in the middle of the top signifying her love of fire. She had on also a pear of black pants that had ribbon coming up the side of the legs tying up to keep the pants together.
Qarrien was thinking of course, that’s what she did best here. I wonder what life would be like if I hadn’t come here. I would still be at that damn orphanage and the Christmas would be like every other one, hardly any presents and hating everything. I’m so glade I was given a choice to come here. I don’t think I could stand another Christmas there. Qarrien thought to herself. Even though she was here now, her thoughts were much different to what she had been thinking in the past. Before when she had come to sit and ponder she would think about how she wasn’t meant to be here and this was all to good to be true and one day some one would come and take her away. Qarrien had refused to get close to anyone really because she was afraid it wouldn’t last. Nothing in her life had lasted.
Qarrien had once been adopted out of the orphanage, those small months had been the best time for her. The people had cared so much for her. They brought her nice clothing and toys and they would have huge dinners and pudding after. But one day when her new guardians had gone out to the shops, they never came home. They had disappeared without a trace. Qarrien had to call the police when they hadn’t returned all day and then she had woken to realize they still weren’t home. A random stranger had found their bodies lying on the side of the road. Some one had jumped in front of their car and forced them to get out and beaten them to death before steeling the car and everything in it. Qarrien had been forced to move back to the orphanage. Where she had stayed always until the time she was called to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It had been like a dream to her and she had been frightened that, that was all it was.

Oh, such a true sentiment. Nothing in this life was meant to last. These words also held true to this youth. Enter Sam Nanten, a bright young man with a dimmer future ahead of him. It seemed that the weeks had flown by since his arrival here, and no one could really guess why it was that he stayed as long as he did. Heck, one would have thought it best to have left as soon as his initial business here was concluded. The poor young man had been hot on his toes with peril, and there had been far too few calm moments like these in between to give him reasonable solice.
Today the young thief wore shades, rather than his conventional glasses. They were fit with proper seeing lenses so that they would work just as effectively, but Sam was just in one of those moods to hide those chocolate irises from the world a bit. His normally scruffy and matted down nest of sandy blonde hair was styled up today, with the faintest trace of gel on each side of his hair and sending his feathery locks into a softly ruffled mess on each side of his head.
One sneaky advantage sunglasses held for one such as Sam was that it gave him a chance to size up people's valuables without being caught staring directly at the person. Such as the dark-haired lovely sitting under the large tree, as he passed by on the road in front of her. She seemed to be lost in her own thoughts. He envied her, being able to relax so in her matters, wheras Sam was usually up to his waist in his concerns. He never had time to relax anymore. Heck, there was no need to be a thief at that moment. He turned towards her and offered a smile, along with a small wave.
"Hi."

Samantha kicked the snow around with her black boots, making a little trail. Not for any reason in particular, just because. Her mind had been wandering and everything just seemed so.... surreal the past few days. She didn't have many friends since she came back. But things were looking up for her slightly. Or so she hoped.
She had one a black beanie cap and her straight white hair come flowing out from beneath it. Matching the snow that was on her boots, and everywhere else of course. She had on a long black tweed skirt, a plain white sweater, and a purple cloak. She was still cold, but she would live. Samantha was merely on a adventure for something to do. Like every other day in the winter things were getting a little dull around the castle. But She would find entertainment elsewhere.
What a life, no friends, no boyfriend, lovely. Just snow, and cold. She thought to herself, not depressed just, bored with life.
She was just cracking the ice that had formed around the edge of the lake, but hadn't made its way out to the middle, when she thought she felt someone near. She spun around to see behind her and, she sighed, mostly in relief, it was just a girl. She didn't look to harmless, like she wanted to kill anyone or anything. She didn't notice him at first, but ther was a boy there also. He looked a little...out of place, she didn't know what it was but she had a bad feeling about this kid.
Samantha walked over slowly, and stood beside the tree. A smile came upon her lips, as she walked over to the two.
"Hello, sorry for interrupting but, would you like some company?" She asked pleasantly, sounding happy, but not to annoyingly cheerful like some people did when the first met someone new.

Qarrien came out of her trance when she had heard a male voice say something. She looked up and realized he was talking to her. “Hello.” Qarrien said with a smile. She sensed strait away that something was up with this guy but she had nothing of value on her and wanted some company so welcomed him. A second passed and she noticed another person come up, this time a girl. “Sure I don’t mind, the more the merrier I recon!” Qarrien answered to the blond girl.
Qarrien didn’t say yes because of the guy. She didn’t care about him, if this guy was really bad anyway, she knew how to fend him off, even without magick. Living in an orphanage taught you to be tougher, she also knew a thief when she saw one.
“What houses are you in?” Qarrien asked trying to get conversation going. Qarrien didn’t know too many people from other houses. She knew Persephone and maybe a few others but that was it.

(OOC) Is Sam really that conspicuous? I didn't think it would be so easy for one to analyze a person they just said 'hi' to. (BIC) Sam's hand faltered in mid wave, a chill gently slashing itself through his body. Did it suddenly get colder out there? The lake was quiet and still that day, so there were no breezes floating near to the ground. All the same, he pulled the collar of his coat closer to his ears and pushed his glasses less than half an inch down the bridge of his nose, to allow both him and the ladies better view of each other. His chocolate brown irises swirled with curiosity and a gentle sincereness. Thief or no, he had no intention of swindling either the dark-haired girl under the tree or the white-haired girl that showed up on the scene. Sam turned back to the tree and walked towards them both. A light mist permiated from his mouth and disappeared about a foot behind him and he jammed his hands in his pockets. "Which house am I in? Ah, y'see..." he faltered once more, stammering with his thoughts. Normally when he met anyone in Hogsmeade, they assumed he was a student and felt not the need to ask of his student status. However, this was why he did not oft converse with students, even ones as pretty as these two. Though he had dropped in on the school library once or twice since he first visited here many months back, Sam Nanten had not, in fact, ever been a student at MH. In fact most of his energies were spent visiting other places that most students would consider suicidal. "I'm ah, Slytherine." he recovered, gently scratching at the back of his head as if to jog his memory. "And my name is Sven." Sam added making sure that he did not offer any inclinct as to who he really was. If word got around of his presence here, he would probably end up meeting much more unpleasant characters than these two.

OOC: Qarrien can sense people for who they are just by how they look, stand and how the other person’s eyes are.
Qarrien leaned back against the tree a little stretching out her back. She studied the guy standing in front of her and tried to understand why she felt as though he wasn’t telling the whole truth. The orphanage had defiantly made her wiser in truth telling. The way he was acting made her feel as though he wasn’t telling her something. But why would he lie? Unless the guy wasn’t really a student there.
Qarrien decided to drop it though. She liked company and didn’t want him to leave so instead she racked her brain trying to think of something to say. “Really that’s cool.” She was going to add, what’s that like? But decided against it incase the answer wasn’t too good. He could get uncomfortable and leave. Also she thought this guy was pretty cute as well and wouldn’t mind getting to know him a bit better, if ever he thought to be honest. Really Qarrien had always been the one to find out things first but she was also one to keep secrets. She didn’t believe in dobbing people in for things, what they did was their own business. Also she wasn’t a very innocent girl. She would never steel from people or do people harm but she had done some things in the past people wouldn’t agree with.
“I thought I was going to be put in Slytherine actually and was really surprised when that hat said Hufflepuff. I guess I am a bit wacky at times though. I just thought the hat would see me for my darker side.” Qarrien told them.

(OOC) I see, interesting. (BIC) "Heh, your darker side?" Sam asked, surprised. This girl didn't seem to be the darkly brooding type, even with her midnight blue irises that seemed to shine with questions. She obviously had a lot on her mind, mayhaps she was organizing her thoughts. It was hard for this thief to remember at times that all people have issues to sort out; how can one realize that, when they so actively avoid people in general? Turning his attention back on the girl beneath the tree, he realized that she still had not given her name yet. It was all the same to Sam though, since he did not plan on staying much longer. Thus, he would not press her if she did not offer a name. In any case, Sam was there, in that moment, enjoying the view of the lake with two complete strangers. For some odd reason, he felt it would be suiting if someone here had a violin to add to the mood of the scene. It had been so many years since he had played, and yet....it may actually be nice if he made a memory such as that to take from this place. "So what's your real hair color?" he asked, pulling himself back from his hazy cloud of inner thought.

Samantha sat and watched the two students talk. Wondering if she should just jump in or not. She decided that if they wanted to talk to her. She used to not be like that though, she used to be the type of in your face girl that everyone loved to hang around. She missed those days so much. She wished she could be her old self again. Perhaps then a shadow passed over her face, if either of the two noticed she knew not. But, she looked sad for a moment. The she pushed the thoughts away, she didn't want to make a scene. Especially if the two didn't even want her around. Sam made it a point now to make sure she was wanted around, her new self didn't want to bother anyone, she only wanted peace. However she wouldn't even get that. Happiness she thought wasn't out of reach but real peace was.
Samantha stood there listening to the conversation, wondering if she was going to introduce herself, and feeling a bit distant, and even a little lost.

Laughing a little Qarrien realised she hadn't even said her own name. I'm such a bloody idiot! She thought to herself. How can I forget that? She looked over at the other girl, Samantha and realised that she hadn't said much since joining them. "I don't even really remember my natural hair colour; it's been changing for so many years now I don't even think it's the same colour any more anyway. Also how stupid of me not to even say my name. It's Qarrien."
She looked back over to Samantha and thought she saw a hint of hurt on her face. Like a darkened soul. "So what house are you in then?" Qarrien asked. Hoping that the girl wanted to join in and that she would stay and talk. Really all Qarrien wanted to do was meet new people so she wouldn't be lonely anymore.
All the things she had gone through in that orphanage. Having to register every thing every one did. No wonder she got use to reading people like a book. For most her years she had just blocked people out, especially after what happened with them... But Qarrien wouldn't dwindle on that now. She had other things to do, like get to know these people with her now. The past was the past and it could wait to be thought upon for another time.

Sam smiled assuredly at the other girl, whom seemed to be feeling unneccissarily withdrawn from the conversation he and Qarrien were starting. Afterall, Sam had given his 'name,' and so did Qarrien. It would only befit the situation if the light-haired girl joined as well. Afterall, she knew neither Sam nor Qarrien, so what reason did she have to feel left out?
"Yeah, perhaps you might be in the same house as one of us." Sam said with a straight face, inwardly kicking himself for making such idiotic commentary outloud. If she really did say Slytherine, then it would have been anyone's guess as to what his real story was. Thankfully though, his words were not obvious enough for the girls to catch on. Thus, he casually reclined upon an uprising tree root, folded his arms behind his head, and non-verbally beckoned the other girl to join in. Afterall, if he kept his cake-hole shut, Sam would have a much better chance of leaving MH of his own accord, rather than having a huge boot print in his butt for his final impression of this grand place.

Samantha noticed that she had been invited into the conversation and tried to pull herself completly out of her daze. She pushed her thoughts out of her head and looked at the two students. Sam smiled politely, a perfect white smile, her emerald eyes showing a slight sadness, but still had a lightness to them. "Samantha, of Ravenclaw." She said, her accent was not one of any particular place, being that she lived in many different places before here, but it was nice, and polite sounding. As she always sounded when she met new people.
Samantha pulled her cap off and put in in her pocket. Long shimmering white hair matched the color of the snow on the ground. She smiled again at the two, "So, its a pleasure to meet you both, how long have to two been going here?" She asked.

Qarrien smiled Yay! She is going to sit and talk then! At least that’s a start. she thought to herself before thinking hard about how long she had actually been coming here. "I have been coming here... I think it's been a while now. Good question really." Qarrien stared off into space drifting into thoughts, counting months she could remember. Qarrien had never really been good with time, days just came and went. She thought for ages and realised her birthday was coming up next month.
"I'm really not sure on how long." Qarrien gave up on trying to remember. "Yeh my memory isn't too good when it comes to time." She added "All I know it's been good the time I have been here. Maybe at times lonely, but at least it is better here then where I came from. The orphanage was terrible and at least here I am wanted a bit more." Her purple fringe fell across her face a bit and hid her eyes. The darkness filling her form the hatred she felt towards the place she was forced to call home for so many years. She didn’t want the others to see the darkness in her though.
Brightening up a bit and bouncing into her other self again. “You guys then?” She said in a pleasant tone, acting as though nothing was wrong inside of her. She flicked her hair back off of her face then when that didn’t work properly she lifted her hand up and tucked her fringe behind her ear. Her dark eyes twinkling and a happy smile spread across her face. Qarrien was happy that Samantha had stayed.
