Maybe it was the night air, maybe it was the rain, maybe it was the cool waters of the lake, that brought her down that evening. Samantha, however, told herself it was because her life has grown so dull. She didn't do anything and she had about no friends. Her disappearance for a while had gone unnoticed, and it appeared now she wouldn't be noticed either.
She walked slowly, as to not slip and fall in one of the many puddles that had grow larger and larger as the rain storm went through. She wore rolled up blue jeans, and a tight green sweater, her hair was down, and since it was wet, reached to just below her butt.
Samantha wondered if anyone would be out here tonight. She doubted it. Being it was chilly and raining. But, she could hope for some sort of encounter tonight. Something needed to happen soon, or the monotony of it all would kill her.

The mysterious boy who has been wandering the castle for a few days, watching scrambling students get to class late, girls staring at him and giggling like there was something wrong with his outfit. He seemed a little confused by all the happenings in the dwelling he's chosen to stay.
Late in the evening while he was in the Great Hall talking to girls, he heard them talking about a storm outside and how gloomy it was when it rained. Just as he heard about the rain he quickly stood up and walked out of the Great Hall, threw the wide hallways and out the doors below the large clock.
Rain. Oh how he loved the feeling of the rain dropping on his small frame. Sure it was a bit cold at first but he always got use to the cold tears. After a long while of standing in the rain and soaking in the mist that surrounded him, he decided to take a walk threw the bridge, down the stone steps and to the beautiful lake.
To him he could understand how someone could ever call something so beautiful as rain gloomy. He loved the feeling of being soaked to the bone, slashing in the wet puddles of mud and water. It was like his childhood and it made him feel happy and at home again. 'I hope this rain lasts for a few days..' He thought hopingly.
Just as he thought that he turned his gaze to a young woman near the lake with long white hair. The hair seemed to draw his attention very deeply, it seemed to glow in the dark and rainy night. He soon made his way over near her "Hello." He said somewhat quietly, trying not to startle the unknowing girl infront of him.

A voice cut through the rain, cut through her thoughts. It didn't startle her, not the voice, but the thought of what could be out lurking in the dark, that scared her. Samantha turned gracefully on one heel to face the boy. Looking at him he didn't seem all that scary, but she knew as well as everyone here, looks could be deceiving.
She decided to push her negative feelings aside and and smiled. "Hullo." She said to him, her bright green eyes piercing the dark, locking her gaze with his. She had never seen him around. Not when she had disappeared from sight for a while, not anytime before now. She wondered about this stranger in the night. But still she smiled.
"Samantha." She said sweetly, sticking out a rain wet hand.

The boy stared into her green eyes, he shivered slightly and then gave her a sweet smile. The rain seemed to bring the best out in him for some reason. "Hello Samantha." He flicked his tail to whip off some of the rain that soaked the soft tail. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Rice, somewhat new hear I guess."
He walked over to the lake and sat down directly infront of it "I'm really enjoying myself here. This castle is quite roomie and it's fun to talk with other people my own age." Shrugging his shoulders thinking he's babbling "So anyways, how are you today Samantha? Do you like the rain?"

She listened and stood there as he talked. He was new. Seemed she was right about not seeing him. Samantha watched him go and sit down. Still talking. It didn't bother her, it was simply skipping the redundant so how do you like it here and oh really's.
"I'm fine, today was fine I guess." She said distantly . "I do like the rain.." She added. She looked up to the sky letting the rain fall down her face and run down her drenched neck and soak up in her sweater. "I love the rain..." She said. Slowly, she walked herself over to sit beside of Rice, looking out onto the lake instead of at him. Watching the little drops hit the lake, break the steady water one by one. She smirked slightly, the chain reaction reminding her of life, and how one thing, could cause an entire chain of events. In her case, one person, and it didn't end well. Again, she had to push those thoughts from her mind.
"And, what are you doing out here tonight?" She asked, her voice happy, but strung with slight held back sadness.

Slowly the boy closed his eyes, taking in a few deep breathes of the refreshing new air that the rain brought. "I was in the Great Hall talking to girls. They where mumbling about a storm outside to I left as soon as they mentioned it. I don't understand how people could ever call something like rain gloomy. It's really beautiful."
Smiling, he turned to the girl next to him and put his hand on hers, looking at her eyes "I think you're very beautiful as well, Samantha." While looking at her for a while his smile became a conserned frown "Is there something that seems to be bothering you?" He scooted a little closer and cupped her hand in his.

Samantha looked at him carefully as he spoke. Watching him close his eyes. She was taken aback by his forwardness, she blushed in surprise. She smiled at him, in silent thanks. As he scooted closer, she saw the scene flash before her eyes. She hated being hurt. She hated the feeling of being so alone after letting herself fall for someone. She didn't want it to happen again.
His hand felt warm over hers. She wanted to move her hand away, and yet she didn't. He asked her what was wrong. She was such a bad actress, she felt so thin, so see through. She had shifted her gaze to the ground, and bit the side of her lip. She always did, she would try to seem so bold, so confident, but really she was weak, such a low self esteem. Sam never thought she was better or even as good as anyone, she was always to be looked down on. Thats just how it was.
She realized she needed to answer. She moved her eys back to his. Trying to look as though she was stronger then she really was. "Oh, its nothing really." She said trying to sound so casual.

His frown deepend when he heard those words. The word 'nothing' always, always ment there was something wrong and he knew by her expressions that there was something she was hiding. He didn't want to force her to tell him but he wanted to help "Please tell me, Samantha, I want to help you..." He put his arm around her shoulders, his body seemed warm for being in the rain so long, he barly got cold.
His gaze floated to the lake and watched the small drops of rain sink into the depths of the lake. He couldn't help himself when he saw the lake. It's like the lake was a big tongue and the rain was dropping on it. Soon he opened his mouth and stuck his tongue out to feel the cool drops fall on the warm tongue.

Samantha looked back to the ground. She thought of ways she could word what had happend. It would all seem so trivial to someone else. But, to her it was life. It was everything she had created here, and then watching it crumble away. Her bright eyes turned to watch him, she smriked, he was certainly something different. She didn't know how to reply, she didn't think that if he knew everything that had happend he wouldn't be here with her right now. To be alone was what she was afraid of. She was always alone. She just wanted to hold on to the few moments she had with someone. Not alone. Unafraid. She stayed silent, as she debated on what to say and not say. Samantha wondered if this person, Rice, actually meant it, if he really wanted to know. Did he care? She doubted it, people never really cared. Thats what she had learned. From Adam, from her friends, who didn't even notice her lapse into deep depression. Everyone. ((ooc: this post is a little....crappy? I am so tired right now...Just woke up. ♥))

While holding onto her, he could feel the tenstion inside her and it clouded his mind with questions but he just comforted her. He didn't want to overwhelm his new found love interest. "You don't have to be afraid to tell me anything, Samantha. You also don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to." He smiled at her, gazing at her beautiful green eyes with his cranberry eyes.
His gaze floated up towards the sky and licked up a few rain drops on his tongue. His hand stayed cupped gently around the young woman's hand and his arm around the girl's shoulders. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable but this is how he liked to show his affection.

Samantha smiled still looking at the ground. He had just said something that she really needed to hear. Her life was sucha long story. So, fell of things she did wrong, or things others had done to her. It seemed that she would need years to go on to tell in full everything that happend. At the school she hadn't much of a life, not anymore. And beforet he school, her life was a sad, depressing story about how messed up she was. She thought of the two people who knew the most about her past. Both seemingly forgot about her now, but it didn't matter. She just wanted to sit here in the rain, with Rice, and smile.
Samantha took her other hand and ran it through her tangled, wet, and long white hair. twisting it up into a sloppy bun (with one hand) so that the ends of her hair didn't gather any mud while they sat there. Sam sighed, and leaned he head on him. And took back to watching the lake.

While waiting for a response to what he said he figured that she didn't have to say anything. He just watched her put her hair up and smiled at her thinking about how beautiful she was. "Do you have a..." He couldn't believe he was getting nervous, he never got nervous. "Do you have a boyfriend?" He said while biting his bottom lip, averting his gaze to the lake. He suddenly fet her head rest on him and he looked back over at her with his cheek flushed. "I know I don't know you that well but I want to get to know you because I like you."

((((OOC: im jealous of you not having school. i on the other hand, do not get friday off....ugh...kill me.)))))

Samantha wasn't sure of what to say. Did she have a boyfriend? Adam came to her mind with a flash, at the last time she had seen him. He had told her he was a lycan. And then she never saw him since. As they had never broken up, she didn't know what to consider him. She wanted to say no. But, she would have rather him know the whole truth.
"Its complicated..." She said at first. Trying to figuer out where to start what would end up to be a long story. "Maybe this will help you to see why I am so sad..." She added.
"My life before I came..." She stopped, and thought about what she was about to say. She didn't need to tell him what she was like before she came here. She didn't need him to run away yet. "Nevermind that." She finally said. "I guess...no and yes would be the answer to your question. There was this boy, Adam...We, had something for a while. But...He.." Again, she fought herself on what to tell him. "Something happend and he started to avoid me..and I havn't seen him since." She ended. Her mind flashed to the nights after that evening when he told her. She cried because he never wanted to speek to her, he never acted like it anyway. He was avioding her. Then before her eyes came the blood. The thin cuts that marked her arms. Still, marked her arms. She didn't know what he, what Rice, would say to that bit of information. Samantha didn't know what he would say if he saw her arms. Saw who she really was, who she didn't want to be.

With a slight chuckle at what he was hearing he turned to her. His eyes did not have sadness, barly ever did. He hugged her close to him "I see." His eyes gazed down and saw the girls arms, his smile became a frown and he gently grabbed her wrist to look at the arms better "You cut, Samantha?" Gulping nervously, he looked up into her eyes "Can I help you? I don't want to see you suffer and going threw stuff like this." He said with much concern as he hugged her once more.

She felt good as he held her close. But she felt the sudden change of mood at the same time he noticed her cuts. Tears sprung to her eyes as she insticktivly pulled her arms in toward herself. "Uhm...." She said, trying to come up with something to say. She thought of as many lies as she could, something that would make sense, nothing did really. She couldn't get herself out of this one. She knew she couldn't.
"I...don't cut..." She heard herself saying, as though she didn't really want to say it, but she heard herself going through with the lie. "It was from a particularly bad incident in the forest." She added. Samantha held her arms tight to her, and she looked at him, his eyes. She looked tired, and she looked sad. Not in her face, in her manner, but in her eyes. She looked as though she had been through hell and back. But really, she felt so used to everything that had been going on it didn't seem like anything to her. But some little part of her knew that if things went on like they did she would end up dead.
Samantha pulled herself away from him as warm tears began to stream down her face. She stood up and walked away, looking up at the sky, letting the cold rain drops hit her face and blend with the tears.
