Ace felt as though a wave of something unstoppable, unexplainable, rising in him as Angelique spoke, staring into his eyes. He felt it as he had felt it before, sweeping over him, soundless noise crashing in his ears. He was speechless, until she broke the moment and walked away, her words leaving their sting just as she had intended.
"Vampires don't know how to love," murmured Ace in a whisper, as he watched her figure retreat into the school, where she belonged. And he fell into the shadows.
Where he belonged.

Angelique stopped in her tracks just before she reached the doors, she heard what he said. She turned around with a concerned face and looked at him.
"Is that what you know? Or is that what you want to believe?" She had hoped that her words pierced his immortal flesh and drained out of his eyes so that he could see it wasn't true."It doesn't matter what you are, it's who you are. You're not going to realize it until it's too late...I don't care who you end up spending your eternity with, I just want you to know that I could have been someone that showed you how to love. Undead or living Ace..."
With that, she hopped that it got through to him, if not she would try and try again. She won't lose the one person that might help her wounded heart heal again. Deep down somewhere in her restless human soul she knew that. She could sense the inevitable bond between them. But because Ace was immortal, he could not....
