Days, even weeks, had been spent cooped up within the walls of the caves. Leaving her own secluded sanctuary seemed pointless, among other things. Why take the extra effort to venture out into different surroundings if they hold the same opportunity as of those you already occupy?
Needing, however, to escape from her own thoughts, Amira entered the grounds on which the lake resided. Warm air caressed her face gently, slightly moving the hairs that fell neatly in front of her left eye, as she took a deep breath and took in scents and sounds she had long forgotten.
Students were giggling and enjoying their evening, trees barely swayed along with the nearly non-existant wind and the water splashing against rocks and twigs that could be found along the banks of the lake. In Amira's own world, the lake was the perfect place to clear her thought filled mind.
As she walked toward the lake itself, the moonlight caught her emerald eyes, causing them to look as if they, indeed, were emeralds. Placing her hands behind her for support, she let herself sit along the edge of the ground bordering the lake. Already barefoot, she placed her toes in the water and laid her head back, placing her hands behing her head.
The water feel cool against her feet as she admired the beauty of the stars. There were so many breath-taking balls of light to where counting them seemed pointless. Amira, however, saw nothing as pointless, so she counted.
"One, two, three, four......"
