The wind swirled wildly, debris carried on it's current as it swept through the forest, hissing like a serpent as it slithered through the tree trunks. The leaves on the brittle branches of the tree tops were a dark purple shade, reflective of the evening sky as the sun retired behind the horizon, shedding blankets of rouge and textured violet over the flaking clouds. The underside of the forest was dim and grey, a shade so similar to the moon as it drifted into focus above. A half-moon. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Hands moved inside the mind of the being that lay in the center of a forest clearing. Poking and clawing at her thoughts, wrestling over which to pull forward and ponder over, which to flush out and which to settle in a chamber at the back where it would remain for a good six days or more, tugging at the rest of the mind body to listen to it. A clock struck a number inside the head of the demoness and her hands came to clench around one another as she continued to lay on her side, collected up like a child in a fetal position. Stiletto's looked like the spines on the end of a scorpion's tail in her pose, but her rose-tinted dress was as delicate as the loose feathers on a white dove shot at the breast and soaked in liquid, until all it's plumage glowed that darling rosy brown. A paler shade of what the sky had been earlier. Mai. Her body wracking with sobs, as trails of black rode down her cheeks from the liner that scaled the edges of her smoky scarlet eyes. The lace of her corsét quivered as though a breeze was toying with it, though it was only the momentum of the demoness's shaking body as she cried quietly to herself, feeling frightfully vulnerable, yet at emotion's end. There was no fear left, only exhaustion. Who knew what she bottled up inside? Who cared? She was immortal, yes. But the demoness also had a very real heart. Oh, and how it ached. This beat away at an uneven rate in her chest, pulsating slowly then skipping two beats too quick as she sobbed further, pulling herself up to a sitting position while her legs remained on an angle. She held her chin to the dip at the front of her neck, her ivory hair falling forward to cover her face entirely as she continued to weep. Crocodile tears? Oh, no no. Mai was genuinely, very upset.

Ah yes, the sun had begun to set behind the welcoming hands of a horizon. Although the demoness was very much based on a nocturnal animal, creatures, non-human and human alike, were in danger twenty-four-seven from the wrath of this particular meat-eater. But at the time the sun began to fall into slumber each day, Lothani was most at peace. Or one would think so. Any thing that had seen or met this strange-looking thing before would recognise the sound of plastic rubbing against plastic to be her.
It was the resounding of her approach in between the trees.
But was it an approach? Or was she wandering aimlessly through the Forbidden Forest? None but her would be able to tell from her jagged steps on high-heels. They held her a good four inches taller, but she wasn't short. Oh no, she was quite well grown, so to speak. But in all truth, the demoness had never grown at all. She had been created. Of course, however, only a rare few knew this. The two Valkeries, Whisper and Kasatzia, were two.
From the thinness of her heels one would have thought she would sink into the earth. No. There was a special way that she had always held herself that would always prevent this from happening. The latex she wore that clung to her every curve in hues of black, maroon and red had hardly had anything to do with it, along with the chauffer's hat that was tipped to one side over her cropped hair. It was almost all for show. Almost.
"But what is this?" Mentioned her unearthly voice in a feigned curious tone. To the right of the sitting demoness was the other with a slinking black, rosetted tail, analysing the situation with her head cocked to one side, staring down with a smile on her lips. "And you dare to call me insecure. Seems you placed a mirror in front of you when you snarled at me nights ago," chortled Lothani with a raised brow that began to hide under the rim of her hat.
Rather than continuing the fun on her own part, she stopped talking, though the anger through her emotions that had been programmed into her was still very present. But not shown at all in her expression. Her weight was supported by one leg now, with the other diagonally resting, making a triangle with her legs and crotch. The glance removed itself from Mai and averted to her claws that had lifted in front of her chin. Deadly with one stroke into the skin of any creature.
Forgiveness? Could she give it? It was as if every one she had come across made a horribly inaccurate assumption with her. And many times she had either forgiven them, or taken their life. Fenrir had come very close to the latter. Bending at the knees so that she was kneeling in a right-angle-like position, the hand that was in front of her face lowered in offering to Mai, offering security, along with a shoulder.

Mai's nails were pressed against her palms relentlessly, not enough to break the skin, but enough to carry the flow of pain to her hands. The scent of the other demoness filled the air far before she entered the clearing, for the wind was working it's way around the demoness and Lothani had made the mistake of walking with the wind. Or was it a mistake?
Mai only rest her elbows on her leg and buried her face into her hair and hands, her body convulsing as another share of tears fled from the ducts in her eyes; carrying with them more emotion. Sarcasm struck Mai's ears as Lothani questioned the situation before her, though the pale-haired demoness only ran her hands further up her scalp through her hair to let her face dip far from Lothani's view.
She did not need to handle ridicule. It was sad that the demoness near her only seemed to find it fitting to push events of the past in her face, when Mai was not even the culprit of love-theft. As the demoness contained her sobs to quiet whimpers, she gently pushed her fingers past her cheekbones, smudging the black but clearing the earliest tears.
It was ironic in a sense. Lothani reminded Mai of herself. Picture-perfect and ravishing down to a capital of entrapment, both flawless on the exterior, both deadly, and both serving venom on their tongues. Only now, Mai revealed something Lothani appeared to lack. Mai seeped emotion through her naturally flawless exterior, and this did not flaw it, not at all, in fact, it only made her all the more beautiful...
Lothani's words only taunted Mai further, and she moved her legs to push against the ground gently as Lothani's hand came down beside her, now in a completely different show of intention. Mai moved herself backward a space, her hands supporting her on the ground as her stained eyes came to look directly at Lothani; her long hair parting and falling away by her cheeks.
She would have looked like a child from Halloween. That, or a porcelain doll with all it's pretty paint and makeup smudged. Something lined Mai's eyes as she stared at Lothani, no retaliation left her lips, in fact her quivering lips did not even part. Betrayal floated sadly somewhere in her irises, and although there seemed to also be a longing to curl up in the other demoness' arms, Mai's expression held a look of deep suffering and perhaps even a hint of fear.
If she was to take this offer from Lothani, that thought that had been locked in the chamber at the back of her mind made itself very visible: it was uncountable how many ways Lothani could take advantage of her. Mai remained frozen in her position, crystalline tears of black streaming down her face, eyes never leaving Lothani's. Almost questioning: how can you care, now? Yet not a single word left those perfect lips.

Through the darkened skin that was her own, caressing across her lips, there wasa genuine smile. A smile that was a danger to any dark beast that had challenged Lothani to a fight. Light is a defeater of darkness. But which side was this Rapah on? The light or the dark? Black or white? Neither. No one, not even herself, could place her on a side permenantly. She was neither a bringer of Hell, nor a bringer of Heaven. She lived for herself. That was how it had always been, not having to care for anyone else but herself. Because she had never let anyone in past her shell. Was there anything actually past that shell? As it had been said, no one knew. But Hell, Mai was coming close to it.
No matter how much more beautiful she was than Lothani.
The make-up that had been carried down her flawless cheeks to form black streaks only asserted the fact. That hand of hers stayed aloft, but for how long? Although she could hold it there for all eternity, it would become clear soon whether or not Mai wished to take it at all. There was no way that she could ever explain why she had helped Eurus out, because Lothani stepped into a cat fight that had nothing to do with her. Mai would never understand let alone wanted to. How could she have wanted to? Lothani was killing her love.
But was it so strange for her to want to lend a helping hand now?
The question was quite strongly wrought across Mai's porcelain features. Why would Lothani care at all, let alone now? Sure, it was fair enough. But was it so hard to understand? "Just because," She said. If the crying woman didn't accept her hand soon, it would be lost, and it would never be offered again. But that was for her to decide about, not Lothani, and so the hand stayed frozen in time. With her other hand lifted now, she reached over the distance that Mai had moved away, and gently wiped away the tears that were still flowing, along with the mascara.
Personally, she never had any time for make-up. Truth be told she had all eternity, but had never bothered with the stuff. She was created to look how she did, and there was no reason to change it. For some, it looked amazing on, for others, it didn't do anything. Mai was the former, though whether she knew it or not, Lothani couldn't tell. They looked from two different centuries. Mai from centuries before and Lothani from current time. Both were suited to their outfits, and in the depths of her mind she scowled at the imagined picture of herself wearing the corseted dress.

Cold. Mai was shivering, she was so cold, and it most certainly was not her element. Lothani smiled, and Mai felt like she was a child again, about to let her face screw up in an awkward position and her mouth open as if she were about to let out a long cry, much like little children did when they were stung by a bee and the shock hit them but it took them a moment to realise it hurt. Mai was quite neutral as well, though often it did not seem the case. The pale-haired demoness would have taken Lothani for the darker side of things however, but apparently this may not have been the case either. Whether Lothani believed it or not, she too was beautiful, though Mai would never voice it, incase the rapah only decided to shoot verbal retaliations back regarding the contradiction Mai would have posed had she called Lothani beautiful now, after saying something quite different a few nights prior. Mai could honestly not move as Lothani's hand hung there in the air, waiting for Mai to grasp it or knock it aside, either way waiting. It seemed the garnet-eyed demoness was waiting for something too, though even she was not entirely sure what. "Just because," Was that what she was waiting for? Mai's eyelashes involuntarily blinked, and she breathed in deeper, attempting to calm her emotions and failing. Immediately as Mai opened her eyes again, there was Lothani's other hand, not millimeters away, and Mai almost gasped, though there were enough tears burning in her throat to keep that silent. Instead she almost choked, but her eyes snapped closed again, her brows furrowing as if she was expecting nails to drive their way along the designated lines of mascara; her lips tensed. Mai did not realise she was holding her breathe, but as the realisation came to her that Lothani was merely wiping the mess of her cheeks, the pale-haired demoness did something perhaps very unexpected, or forward. In a flash one of her hands left the dirt and snatched up Lothani's offered hand still hanging in the air, and with her other hand she reached out to capture a firm hold on the rapah's shoulder. With another outburst of tears and violent shudders of her body, Mai very near threw herself at Lothani, her cheek connecting with the other woman's chest as both of her hands curled to tight balls and came to huddle between her own body and Lothani's. Warmth. Finally, warmth. The pale demoness cried passionately against Lothani, only three words escaping her trembling lips between sobs. "You..are..beautiful."

Had Mai done anything more than let out a gasp at the sudden sight of her tan-coloured hand, she would have pulled it back. What irony; the hand that had been wiping away her tears was the very same hand the other demoness had broken so easily (to which Lothani healed just as quickly). A sound broke from Mai's throat, which could have made the other startle, but it had subsided before she could have checked what it had been. And so, Lothani let it pass, gently wiping a little more stubborn make-up off Mai's pale face.
The two were such a contrast in skin tone. Lothani, had she been two shades darker, could almost be an African-American, while Mai was clearly an image of the typical English or Irish girl. They couldn't have been more far apart, and yet here they were, sitting in front of each other. But the answer to her question if Mai would take her hand or leave her hanging there came so quickly that it made her almost flinch. Pale hands snatched at dark ones, then let go and cradled themselves against Lothani's plastic-coated stomach as she dug her face into the darker one's collar-bone crevice.
Then the body-shaking sobs came. It took but a second for the Rapah to snake her arms around the other; one curling around the small of her back, the other around her shoulders. There, she held Mai, cuddling her closer so that their forms were pressing against one another. Making sure that her arm was still in contact with the demoness's shoulders, she wove her fingers through the long pale tresses that spilled down her back and began to rotate the tips of her fingers at her crown, massaging gently, absently noting to keep her claws clear.
Mai's shaking rocked Lothani, and that was exactly what she began to do. Slowly she moved the two of them back and forth, almost like a mother to a child, still holding firmly onto the other. The shining locks of creamy hair tumbled down over her arm now like a waterfall. Who would have thought that Mai could break down just as any other creature could? Lothani did. She knew it from the very start. The two were alike in many ways, but of course it wasn't something that needed to be said. Cooing softly to Mai, Lothani pouted her lips and 'Shhhh'ed the other gently, silently ignoring the stated words that she had uttered.

Lothani's arms wove around Mai's form almost instantly, like an automatic reaction in fact, as the pale demoness fell against her weakly. One hand came to rest at the small of Mai's back, and the other poison-tipped hand tucked around Mai's shoulders to bring her closer until Mai's tears were sliding right over Lothani's right plastic-covered breast.
The demoness sniffed, so horribly like a child one could have gawked in wonder at the scene. Fingers wove through her hair effortlessly, coaxing the ruby-eyed demoness into lighter sobs, as her body continued to react to a harsh, uncontrolled intake of air every now and then. Much similar to a child suffering from silent hiccups. Or a rat's occasional twitch after a heart attack.
As her form began to rock back and forward in the arms of the other woman, Mai's senses gave way to a lull almost precisely replicating the numbness of severe intoxication, or drug inhalation. Mai's right hand remained curled insecurely by Lothani's stomach, but her left hand affectionately slid sideways and down a way to rest in the curve of Lothani's side, just above her hip.
So Lothani could have sank her teeth into Mai's neck like a vampiress, or dug her claws haywire through Mai's body, or even embraced her tight enough to crunch her spine a paralyze her (if not kill her instantly), but this time it was Mai who did not care. Not one of her senses were working further than the ability of a mortal, which was very weak in demonic nature.
Mai just could not bring herself to care. She could have laid there for a very long time, and even though there was always the possibility that Lothani would up and leave, Mai simply refused to move from her arms. The hush escaping the rapah's lips was like a purr in itself, ushering Mai into a dreamy state of quiet. Her eyes closed and she opened her hand by Lothani's stomach, pressing it against her stomach as if to acknowledge that she was still there.
With her body only giving way to the uneven breathing of post-trauma or tears, Mai was now very quiet, and very still in the arms of the demoness who rocked her so very soothingly back and forward. Mai had never had a mother to offer any such love, and although Mai was certain Lothani did not love her, the physical actions and attributes made Mai feel as though she was a young girl again, only this time, Mai felt safe.

Yes, Mai's dying sobs still shook the two, but they were slowly fading into the blackness of eternity, replacing itself with the occasional sudden hiccoughed breath. It was as if she had lost all control of her senses, letting everything just break in two. Gently she continued to stroke the pale demoness's crown, feeding her fingers through, between and around the silken hair. Although Lothani would never have imagined herself in such a strange and uninformative situation, it wasn't awkward at the least for her. And it seemed it was the same for Mai.
As the other barely scathed her thoughts over how she was disadvantaged in the position they were in, Lothani merely smiled. She couldn't hear it because demons generally weren't telepathic, unless it was their specialty. And as many knew, Lothani's specialty was her saliva, fur and blood, so of course none of them could ever have helped in telepathy between herself and the other woman. And there was no way that she would launch into an attack in using her specialty. No reason at all to do so.
They continued to slowly rock backward and forward, but Lothani's massaging fingers stopped as Mai's face shifted so that her nose was brushing against the crook of her dark neck. Her appendages relaxed other than her thumb, which began to stroke the sensitive skin in the front of Mai's ear and behind the pale cheek. If she had gotten the right place, then the now silent demoness would be little more coaxed into feeling relaxed. She herself was beginning to feel a little happier now, which resulted in her breathing slowing a little.
The air that she breathed in and out sifted through a particular valve in the woman's voice box, causing a particularly familiar rumble to start up. It vibrated against Mai's cheek that was now pressed against Lothani's chin, but of course Lothani was used to purring now, and didn't think anything of it. It could have been instinct for a female of any form to support another, or it could have been a cat-like trait to do. Either way, the characteristic was being exercised to sooth the both of them.

Mai sifted Lothani’s scent through her senses, for that was one thing demons were always talented at. No matter how much or little they cried, their nostrils could remain ever so clear, though sniffing was a natural action to any being that cried. The scent of latex and the other female’s cropped hair snuck inside Mai’s mind, leaving her to breathe it all out in a calm motion.
Lothani’s fingers toyed with Mai’s hair, and the pale-haired demoness let her weight go, relaxing entirely into Lothani’s grasp. Mai had been hurt physically so many times, it did not bother her at all now whether Lothani drove her poison inside the demoness somehow. She would get over it, she always did. It was the mental attacks she loathed, for they extracted far too much emotion than was comfortable for Mai.
Thoughts buzzed away to nothing as the demonesses gently swung with the ease of gravity, back and forward, back and forward, breathe in and out, in and out. Mai’s hand curled against Lothani’s stomach again, and heated air left her lips before they came together in a tranquil stillness. Lothani’s thumb at the side of Mai’s cheek brought yet another sense of comfort to the paler demoness and her heart skipped a beat or two in simple delight.
As Lothani began to purr, Mai smiled a rose-painted smile and she very timidly raised herself from Lothani to see her eyes, though not enough to pull out of her embrace. Warmth swelled in Lothani’s eyes and the heat spiralling through Mai’s was a mirrored emotion. Gracefully, Mai almost shyly curled both of her arms up and around Lothani’s neck, before lowering her cheek to rest it against Lothani’s chest.
The sight was confusing to say the least, for anyone other than the two demonesses may have thought the two were either drugged, or mere imitations of the two personalities. The two demonesses however, together knew nothing but each other in the moments they held as one. Nothing would or could come between them, for their wrath under interruption would have been deadly.
