Word had reached Xavier's ears.
Fenris and Sealla...together. Xavier walked briskly through the edges of the Forbidden Forest, still visible to only the keenest eye at the school, and yet hidden from all the rest. The Lycan scowled. How? Why? That b*stard of a Lycan had taken her once already. Now again? The Lycan roared in anger and punched a tree, running his fist straight through the wood, blowing out a hole in the other side. As Xavier took his hand out again, he examined it as a predator examines its prey before it is hunted down and killed. Shards of wood embedded themselves in his fist and blood oozed from the wounds. Xavier harumphed and shook his hand, then walked, bloody fist clenched, over to a nearby stream. He knelt down by the water's edge and placed his injured hand in the cool, flowing water. There he left it for several moments, letting the low temperature of the liquid soothe his burning cuts. Then Xavier lifted his fist up, and carefully, shard by shard, picked out the wood with his teeth, spitting the splinters out into the water, where the red trails of blood ran through the vast plains of blue.
Where was he to go from here? What did he have left? Sean? Maybe. The little one had been so quiet for so long. Maybe he'd leave this place, maybe he'd take Sean with him. They would go away, far away. Leaving these lands forever in search of something...more. What about the Tunnels? A new generation of Lycans had come to reside, a group of strong, dominant females able to hold their own against any foe. His granddaughters, Amelia, Faith, and maybe Kage if he was still around somewhere. Xavier had lost track of his blood brother ages ago. Kneeling on one knee, Xavier stared into the water of the stream, then scooped up a handful with is good arm, sipping the liquid quietly before dipping both hands back in and splashing water in his face. He let the droplets travel down his face and neck, dripping off at his chin or going down his shirt. The water was good. Water was life. Xavier had heard stories of vast oceans where the only thing in every direction was millions of square miles of water. He wanted to see that. Maybe he would make a home for himself upon the water - a human home, a muggle home. He would return to his roots, live the life he should have lived. Yes...that sounded nice. He would...someday soon. But not yet. He had things to take care of first, loose ends that needed to be tied or cut off completely. He needed to get started. So he did.
"FENRIS! FENRIS FENRIR! I'm calling you out! Show yourself!"
So Xavier waited...

The impact that the tree felt was rebounded onto the white-cloaked woman, sending her dropping to the floor, clutching at her abdomen. Another deaf human had come into the forest, and attacked her living home. This time she couldn't put up with it. Still clutching her gut, the woman's clothes had grey and brown fur sprouting through it.
She bounded past trees, to where the pain was felt. There he was, the human, the perpetraitor. Sealla's muzzle broke into a snarl as she leaped through the air, narrowly dogding a broken branch as she was only metres from Xavier. Then it hit her. Mid snarl and mid leap, Sealla dropped herself to the ground, landing hardly gracefully on her side. Once she had gotten to her feet, the she-wolf brushed her hands over her cloak, the only thing she wore.
The woman was shocked. How could he do such a thing, and not feel it himself? "You did this?" she asked almost silently, staring hard at him, ignoring his calls for Fenris for just a few moments. He liked her, he liked her company. He saw her as a friend, and so if she meant anything to him, he would apologise for hurting the tree when she would tell him she felt it too. Just as hard.

A leap, a snarl, an attack against him.
In one swift movement, Xavier had unsheathed a small but very sharp blade from his upper arm and held it out in front of him in a defensive position. As he realized who had almost attacked him, Xavier backed off and put away the blade. It was her.
"I called for Fenris. Not for you. What do you want?"
Xavier turned his back to Sealla and knelt down by the stream again, taking out a roll bandage from his pocket and wrapping his injured hand, then using his good hand to scoop up another drink.
"And if you're referring to the new home I made for a tired owl, then yes, that was me."
He tied off his handywork and then stood up again, still facing away from the female.
"A little Faerie told me that you and he are quite the couple now. What's he like behind closed doors, anyway?"
Xavier reached for his belt and unclipped a plastic army-style canteen, then unscrewed the top and dipped it in the water, screwed the cap back on, then put it back on his belt. Water...a good thing to have when you need it most.

Emotionless. That's what he was. Totally emotionless. But the more she thought about it, the more it pointed to one other word. But she wasn't going to mention that part yet either. "What do I want?" She asked, not once changing her mutual expression and monotone. "I want you to stop hurting the forest, and to stop hurting me!" Though he had only done it once, no doubt he had done it before she arrived at Magic Horizons too.
"If you're going to scoff and b**** about him and myself, you might as well leave and go to your little hole under ground." Sealla snarled, still not changing her tone or expression, getting quite defensive. There was that nagging word she was almost certain that he was, but not yet. No. She wouldn't rub it in just yet. Why hadn't she seen it before? Why hadn't it become apparant when he greeted her in the school? "But do you honestly want to know, Xavier?" she snarled once again.

Silent little beast, Drifting through the darkened trees. Flitting through the forest, Abandoned... or forgotten?
She had been wandering once more, though now it was an infrequent occasion. Fenris was gone from the forest for longer and longer hours, it seemed, and the days had come and gone. There had not been a single word spoken about her homecoming, though she felt like the six days were long past. And she had made a promise, had she not? She would return to teach him, though she still did not feel why he could not find someone more apt to do the job. All that she wanted now was to go home.
The forest did not suit her. She had the black pelt for blending in but did not have the form, for she was more suited to rest her paws upon cold stone than upon the earth. It made her feel like more of a wolf than a human, driving her to spend more time in that form and to chew upon meat. Some might have even mistaken her for a wolf, seeing as how rarely she changed. Her eating habits were odd as well, for she could devour large amounts of meat one day and then not touch a thing for the next week. This had driven her body to grow scrawny and lean, with the bones poking but not tearing at the flesh.
As for Alissa, she rarely spoke to her spare on the first day of their coming. She just could not feel a connection to her any longer; it was as though they no longer shared a soul like she had once believed. They were just friends now, driven apart by the harsh quarrels of those older and supposedly wiser than her. But now she was not so apt to believe or accept that, for the urge to rebel was still buried deep inside her lycan heart. And rebel she would. She could not stay here, not forever.
So it was upon one of her wanderings that the voice of Xavier suddenly echoed through the forest, a sound that made her heart leap with joy. He had come back for them, hadn't he? They were going home! He was going to speak with Fenris and rescue her, take her back to where she belonged! Eagerly, she began to run through the forest, darting around trees and over roots to come to a stop right near a small stream. Panting happily, she changed to her skin-and-bones human form. It still made her look rather like an animal with raggy hair, but she didn't care. Xavier had come to take her home.
"What's he like behind closed doors, anyway?".... he was speaking with someone else, and she was quick to discover that it was the woman who was Sealla, but not. From what more she heard of their exchange, that was what he had come to seek. Not her return. Just to satisfy the own selfish yearnings of his heart. Dropping down to her knees, there were no tears in her eyes as she watched them from the cloaked shadow of a birch tree.
So this was how it was. Lovely.

At first, Xavier just smiled. Then, he chuckled. After that, his booming laughter filled the air around Sealla and him. After a few moments, he managed to stifle his laughter and wiped away a tear from laughing so hard.
"You want me to stop hurting YOU? My dear, Sealla. I never intended to hurt you...EVER. Your predecessor of the same name was MY wife! She died, she was never put to rest though. The Lycans of the Forest stole her from me, placed in her a spirit of a cruel and inhumane Lycan. She abandoned me, she abandoned all of the Tunnel Lycans. Then she met Fenris before he was Fenris. When he was Richard Rutherford. Richard stole MY Sealla from me. Then, as I watched Fenris become who he is now, she died on me. She left me, her tortured soul ready to depart this world. She had never recovered from what they did to her."
A tear fell down Xavier's cheek. How his life had turned upside-down so quickly. Was it all really worth crying over? He didn't know, and he had started not to care. The male Lycan turned around and faced Sealla, looking straight into her cold blue eyes with his fiery orange ones.
"Then you arrived. I saw new hope. I saw a chance to start anew. I did my best, and yet I was unsuccessful. I guess I shouldn't have been as surprised as I was. You and she are two completely different spirits altogether. You chose him over me. You chose a fellow tortured soul over me. You saw him as your guiding light. I was just a candle in the window. Now I've come to reconcile with him. I don't want us on bad terms for the rest of my life. There is so much out there that I am yet to see. I've come to the decision that now is the time for me to see it."
Xavier lowered his head and looked down at the flowing stream.
"Yes, I was jealous. Yes, I thought I could convince you to love me as I had loved her. And yet, you won't, and I can't. You have placed your love with him. I will respect that. I don't have a choice in the matter."
The flame-eyed Lycan sat down cross-legged by the water's edge and looked off into the darkness of the Forest.
"I just hope you can both forgive me for my actions against you. That's all I want. I just need to tell him in person. And just for the record, my little HOLE is all I have left in this world, and what happens between you two is none of my business, so I'll stay out of it."

The wind picked up, but only gently, swaying through the trees and shuffling through the hair and fur of the three Lycans around, sifting her fingers lightly against their skin. So soft. Cealla, my, it was good to see her again. But, though it seemed like she hadn't seen any of them for a very long time, this was the first up close. Being high above the clouds, you don't get much of a view of anything, really. Cealla, how she'd grown. A beautiful young lass indeed. Strong framework, her mother's cheeks, her father's strength.
And then Xavier. Though invisible, Sealla could see them all perfectly clear, much more than her living vision had ever given her. Such detail. Xavier, by now, had finished his little rant and explanation, and Sealla's ghostly face was not an inch from his. But there was no way he would be able to tell she was there. Her transparent eyes flashed a dangerous red, and a little flame, not even thirty centremeters in diameter, appeared where her heart would have been positioned, ablaze beautifully a few inches from him.
This he would have been able to see.
Her right hand lifted from her side, and cupped the back of his head, feeding through his forest-like hair to press his forehead against hers. In a wind-like manner, the spirit whispered Calm yourself, dear clear enough to not be.

A gust of wind, a cool breeze through the trees. Then...floating fire.
Xavier's eyes widened at the sight of this small and seemingly impossible phenomenon. Only one spirit could have pulled that off. The one he sorely missed. Xavier stood up slowly, keeping his eyes on the flame.
"No...impossible," he whispered. "You're dead. I watched you die...both times."
He felt light pressure on the back of his head, then similar pressure on his forehead. Then the winds whispered to him.
Xavier's muscles relaxed, his body became loose. His shoulders lost their tension and Xavier took a deep breath.
"It is you...you're actually here, aren't you? That flame, that's your doing, isn't it?"
Xavier reached out slowly towards the flame. As he got close, he felt a slight resistance, then instant warmth, too cool to be the fire.
"I knew it was you. I miss you, darling. I wish you'd come back to me. Help me, love. I'm lost without you."
Xavier retracted his hand, then aimed slightly farther up and reached out with both hands. He felt her again, he felt her face, her cheeks. He felt the warmth. His hands felt her lips, her nose, the little details of her body that only he had come to know. He instantly became calm and sat down again. He just smiled.

"It is you...you're actually here, aren't you? That flame, that's your doing, isn't it?" Good. He was relaxing. The last thing he needed was to be startled by her. Had she seen a need to, she would have nodded in answer. But he couldn't see her. Not at all. She knew it by his far off stare. She couldn't exactly feel him, not the way living things felt other things, but it felt strange when he reached toward the fire she held within herself.
But once he pleaded for her, whilst attempting to touch her, the spirit shook her head, though there was no point. By now, he had moved back to sit, leaving her spiritual body standing. Kneeling down, though not really, she lowered herself to his level of eyeshot, no matter how invisible she was. Forgive me, Xavier, the wind cooed softly, sifting through his hair from no real direction. Forgive me...

"Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of faith."
The voice was faint, almost.... ethereal in its distant tone. It was.... hazy, dark, opaque. All the qualities its owner possessed and more.
A mere few meters away, Kage stood upon the bank of that tiny little stream, the water flowing around the soles of his boots. His black clothing contrasted sharply with the sense of life that surrounded the clearing, making him seem like the Grim Reaper in the Garden of Eden.
His eyes stared calmly, albeit emptily (not sure its a word, but whatever), at the space where Sealla 'existed'.
"Just a little bit of faith." He repeated listlessly.

"Long have I wandered though these woods and yet now I am called by a voice that I don't wish to hear; what is it you want from me traitor? If it is about the pups; then you are right in your anger for I have lost track of time due to ....certain tasks that have required my attention and action. And as I promised; they are now free to go, but they in turn must hold their word to what they have said to me; they must visit this ancient abode from time to time. These childern still have lessons to teach me.", said Fenrir as he walked out of the underbrush as a human into the clearing that held the small group.
He saw Xavier, the black haired one, Sealla and what shocked him to the core was that he saw the spector that comforted Xavier. But it wasn't that much of a shock to him as it would have been; for the second had exceded the first in so many ways that he had yet to think of. But he knew that they were there; he just needed to find them. Yet the past was the past and it was something that Fenris didn't want to revisit.
Turning to Cealla; Fenris knelt besides her, "Well Cealla, my mother, this is where we say goodbye for now. I know that you don't love me as a son nor will you ever, but at least don't see me as a monster.", said Fenris as he weep to himself, "Find your sister....tell her...tell her that the two of you can go home." Yet as he stood, Fenris turned to face Xavier and said, "Now; what is it you wanted of me, Xavier; did you wish to further torment me? Because your voice was not a pleasant one and I recall that I told you not to come back here. So for what ever reason you are here; it must be of dire need. Speak or forever hold your peace."

Again the wind whispered in his ear. He heard a plead, he heard a sad apology. Xavier just stared off and smiled. He whispered back, as if he were back with her in the Tunnels. He fondly remembered their moments together, lying together in their chambers, sleeping side by side, whispering sweet nothings to each other.
"You have nothing to be sorry for, my darling. Your life and mine were not destined to extinguish together. Although I still feel that you were robbed of your honorable death and brought back to life a tortured soul, I truly believe that one day we will meet each other again, and again we will lie together, enjoy each other's company, share tender moments in peace. But not yet, my love. Soon, but not yet."
Soon, Xavier's vision cleared, and he sensed her spirit lingering. He smiled again. He wouldn't have it any other way. Then, another presence revealed itself.
"Fenris...I'm glad you could make it. I have much to discuss with you, and I'd prefer if we did it on neutral terms and neutral ground. Will you agree to this?"
Xavier turned to the raven-haired Sealla and spoke to her.
"I'm sorry. Sorry for everything. Sorry for attempting to force you into my home. Sorry for not treating you with the respect that you deserve. I'm sorry for hurting you in body and spirit. I wish I could undo everything that I had done to harm you, but I can't. Instead, I hope that my sincerest apologies will at least partially make up for my misdeeds."
The forest-haired Lycan turned back to Fenris and spoke to him calmly.
"I hope that you'll agree to my request. It is a simple one, and I'd rather feel safe on neutral ground than anything else."

So get back, back, back to where we lasted, Just like I imagined, I could never feel this way. So get back, back, back to the disaster, My heart's beating faster, Holding on to feel the same. [/center] She watched for only a bit longer as the spirit Sealla talked with Xavier, driving him into a seemingly loving frenzy. It made no sense to her; had she not noticed his attraction to Mikayla? Now, all of a sudden, Sealla was back and he had obviously returned to the conclusion that she was all he wanted. Well... then let it be that way. If all he wanted to do was waste his time with her, she'd made sure that she wasn't there to waste his time any longer. As soon as Fenris appeared, she made a move to leave but decided against it. She would respect his wishes even if neither Xavier nor Kage did. That much she could do. Was there no honor in the world? Were pacts that were made no longer upheld? Apparently not. There was none of this in the Tunnels, none of this sense of truth or duty left even in her own relations. A pity, but not something she could change. "I'll hold to it." She whispered in repsonse before changing, waving an almost fond farewell towards him as her fingers melted into paws. Alissa would likely want to go home with her father and the rest of the pack, so she didn't worry about her so much. But she... no, she would not return home now. There was nothing that she particularly loved that would have driven her to say there- just a few days there was, but now it was like that dream had been dashed. And so, with a howl of finality, she headed off in a loping walk; destination unknown.

Not fully paying attention to Xavier as he spoke of talking of neutrality; Fenris instead watched the one that he called mother walked of in an odd direction; not one that led back to her home in the Tunnels nor did it led into the vastness of the Forest. So where was she headed? Yet Xaiver's voice once more spoke of diplomacy and Fenris pulled his eyes off of his mother and turned to face the green-haired lycan. "Neutral ground? For me there is no neutral ground; the is only the Forest, the Tunnels and the School.", said Fenrir with his voice dipping into a harsher tone, "The Forest is my home and of course you are right to feel uncomfortable within these woods. The Tunnels? Never would I go to those caves of yours unless I had a great reason to do so. And I know that I am not invincible and I know that if I go to the Tunnels I am outnumbered; it is fruitless to try and convince me to go there."
"And the school and it's grounds; they have been closed to me ever since I started leaving the Forest to accomplish certain errands. Errands that will prove fruitful if a certain side carries out there end. Yes; perhaps you heard that I have been in the school; perhaps you think that I have degraded the Lycan name but I don't see it that way. And because of my actions against the school; I will not willingly go there."
Walking closer to Xavier and the spector, Fenris' voice dropped to a new low and all that could be heard was, "For me; there is no neutral ground, Xavier of the Tunnels. So I don't see how this talking of yours will work. And then again; nothing is ever neutral with that friend of yours around" Fenris nodded his head in the black-haired one's direction and returned his gaze on Xavier.
"So Breaker of Promises; what is you want to talk about?"

Xavier crossed his arms, grunted and nodded at Fenris.
"Okay, if that's how you want to do it, fine by me. I WAS going to suggest the Lake on the opposite shore from the school. Sure, it would have been a long walk, but we could have gotten there quickly in our Lycan forms. But, nevermind that now. Still, you're awfully persistent for someone who wishes to attempt to right wrongs."
The flame-eyed Lycan stood up and straightened himself out, then looked at the spectre (yes, that's how you spell it) and sighed heavily, his shoulder's sagging. Xavier's voice dropped down to the quietest of whispers, one that only a passing insect could hear clearly enough.
"Sealla, my darling," he said as he looked deep within the hovering flame, "we will see each other again soon. I love you, so very much. Goodbye, my loving wife."
Xavier blew a kiss to the wind and looked at Fenris.
"Come with me, here is not the place we should talk."
Xavier changed into his Lycan form, then bounded through the forest for what seemed like eternity. Finally he ended up in a clearing. The same one he had been to when he and Kage had confronted the former Sealla. The same one he and Sealla had slept under the stars in so very many months ago. Xavier didn't care what Fenris thought, for he didn't intend on bothering the powerful Lycan any longer anyway. As the silver Lycan reached the clearing, he changed forms again and leaned up against a tree, picking at a piece of lint on his pant leg.
