“Ow, f*cking sh*t!” those words were followed by a stream of curses in a mixture of languages. Furrowing her brows in a pained expression, Ray cursed again, rubbing an herbal goo into her badly burnt skin. She would heal, and in time she wouldn’t even have the faintest of burn scars, but for now she was in a significant amount of pain.
Exactly two hours ago she’d dragged herself from the great hall, sticking to the shadows to avoid further conflict. She’d changed her dirty and ruined clothes, donning a pair of jeans and a red spaghetti-strapped shirt, she tucked her feet into her boots and made her way into the forest. The moss, trees, and other plants growing in the forbidden forest would help accelerate the healing process, and ease some of the stinging.
“Next time I’d rather starve.” she muttered, feeling that the tasty food served in the castle was not worth such hassle. And next time she wouldn’t get into other people’s battles, fellow lycan or not. Dipping her hands into the cool water of the small stream, she wiped off the goo, scrubbing her palms and fingers clean. Drying her hands on her jeans, she tucked back a lock of red hair, and laid on her back.
“Stupid human..” she hissed, folding her hands under her head. Thinking back on the ‘disturbance’ back in the great hall, she pictured the girl’s face in her mind’s eye. She was a patient person when it came to vengeance, and she was determined to have hers, no matter the cost. She could wait a lifetime to get revenge, and she could hold a grudge like no other. She’d get the girl back, but first she’d let her feel safe again, allow her to think that her actions were no longer remembered by the lycaness.
“Just wait, I’ll get her.” she stated, nodding her head slightly, her shifting eyes glittering with determination and hatred.

"Then it looks like you must wait for a time; for you are in no condition to do anything of the sort as of now. Then again; who am I to talk?", came a grave voice from behind a rowan. On the other side of the rowan was Fenris Fenrir; his back propped up against the tree to him and in the lesser of his two forms. Crimson life still issued forth from his mouth and leaked down his chin and neck. His right arm, the one that was bleeding internally and was broken, he simply cut himself with a sharp rock in hopes that the internal bleeding would stop.
This time Fenris had been lucky and retained his tattered black suit and overcoat that he had worn for the day. Other times he hadn't been so lucky and went through 3 different attires in a week. Heck of a way to live if all you have to worry about is one's clothing. But clothing didn't matter now; what mattered was his swift recovery. Oh yes; once he was healed that boy and the red head were going to pay for the pain that they had caused him. They were going to pay for making him crawl like a cur!
But now that the second lycan from the encounter in the Great Hall was there; it seemed that she too wanted revenge. That she wanted to feel the terror racing through a victim's flesh in their dying moments. That was the only true way to feed in Fenrir mind since the humans were so numerous it seemed that the other creatures and denizens needed to thin out the human ranks. And Fenris did so willingly.
"So girl", came Fenris' grave voice that tightened every now and then from pain, "You seek revenge on the human filth? If so; it would seem that we have a mutual dislike in common. The question is; how to expand on that mutual dislike of humans and put it to use so that they are forced to crawl like the babes they truly are. So that leads me to ask you; if and when an opportunity comes to strike back that those imbeciles; would you join with me? Between the two of us; we would make short work of any human that dared hinder our revenge. What say you of this?"

"Then it looks like you must wait for a time; for you are in no condition to do anything of the sort as of now. Then again; who am I to talk?" He's right you know.. she thought to herself. She really was in no condition to try and exact revenge at the moment. She would have to wait until she was fully healed and back to full strength. She would heal quickly enough, and she would rest, regain her strength and fuel her hatred. Sitting back up, she searched for the lycan, finally spotting him. A worried frown furrowed her brow, and picking up her bowl of goo-ey herbs, she crawled over to where he sat propped against the trees. "My name isn't girl, it's Rayne; and you really need to see to these wounds." she said, pulling her wand out and conjuring some clean rags. Dropping the wand, she picked up a rag, and cleaned the blood from his mouth, chin, and neck. She knew she was acting like a worrying mother, but she was getting used to taking care of her fellow lycans, it seemed she'd been doing that more than usual lately. She didn't like to see any of her kind suffering, so she'd taken it upon herself to see that they didn't suffer. Grabbing his un-broken arm gently, she pushed back the sleeve of his overcoat, surveying the burns he'd suffered as well. She knew his other arm was broken, and that he was in more pain than she was, because he had been flung into the sharp stones above the greathall. There was nothing she could do for those wounds, they would have to heal themselves, but she could help with the burns he'd endured. Dipping her fingers in the herbal goo, she rubbed it into his skin, thinking on his last words. It would be easier to take care of the humans, and there'd be less chance of another episode like this one, if they worked together. Despite what she'd heard of the 'vicious' Fenris Fenrir, he was Cealla's lycan-son, and that made him family. Nodding her head, she let her lips curve into a half-smile, and said "I'll join you. It'd be much more intelligent to team up with you and go after those filthy scum, than to do it alone."

She was helping him; she was actually helping him. This was something that Fenris had never experienced before; some one caring for him. Xavier; he didn't care for Fenrir at all even in his first hours of life as a lycan. The second tormentor with the black hair; he simply wanted Fenris dead. Cealla, his own mother, didn't seem to care for him in any way. But Rayne was there; she was showing him something that he never saw before in any of his kin. As she wiped the blood off of his mouth, chin and neck; Fenris gazed up at her with child-like wonder in his normally burning eyes.
'So this is what it was like to have someone care for you', thought Fenris to himself. Such emotions overwhelmed him to a point that he couldn't control himself. So as Rayne looked at his burns, silent tears began to roll down his face; not from pain but simply because he couldn't control himself at all. He was at a loss for words and he was losing even more control over himself. His hands started to twitch even though it caused pain to lance up his right arm but he was past the point of feeling such pain.
Instead it was replaced by a child-like feeling of exuberance. A little voice in the back of his head wanted to shout for joy; that some one out there actually cared for him and showed it. As he lay there; Fenris' eyes clouded a bit and he asked, "Let us talk later about plotting our vengeance on the human filth, but there is a more pressing issue in my mind."
"Why? Why are you helping me Rayne? Your kin all shun me or have hurt me in some way and now I have a burning hatred against them. Yet you; you show kindness to me. Why? You are helping me yet it is because of me that you too were injured. It seems so strange that anyone would help a retched creature as myself and yet you do. Why is that?"

She'd been looking at his burn wounds, rubbing the goo deeper into his skin, so she hadn't seen the tears or emotions in his eyes. But his words brought her gaze up, and she was startled to see the tears running down his cheeks, startled and oddly touched. Somehow she didn't think he was as bad as everyone said, how could he be so bad, and yet cry at being shown kindness?
"Because I give what I get, and you haven't given me a reason to hate you. Besides, feuding between our own kind is pointless and stupid; and I've always considered myself an intelligent person. And technically, since Cealla turned you, you are my kin as well." she answered, wiping the tears from his face.
"Why do you call yourself a retched creature? I don't see anything retched about you." she said frowning slightly. He might be a bit on the saddistic side, but he didn't seem retched to her, just more intune with the lycan in him. In fact, he reminded her alot of Sealla, after she'd been brought back to life, fierce, sometimes a little too vicious, and powerful.

"Then you need to talk with the first tormentor; the male with the green hair. It was he that labeled me retched; it was mainly because of him that I act the way I do toward the Tunnels. Everything that has involved the Tunnels and myself has proved unfruitful and gives me no reason to trust them. Yes; it makes sense that my mother attacked me when I was a mere human, Richard Rutherford, but the one with the green hair; he didn't have to do what he did. He abused me in the agony of my first transformation. Mother was afraid of what she had created and the green-haired one merely laughed at my state and left me in my pains."
"If that is not enough; the other lycans of the Tunnels either hate me for what I have done or fear me for my size.", said Fenris as his voice lost some of the child-like innocence and was replaced by harsh reality, "The actions that I have taken against the Tunnels cannot be reversed; I cannot forgive myself for them nor can they. I...I almost killed my mother and her sister; I never intended to do it. I just used them as tools in hopes of making the green-haired one leave the Forest for good. All would have gone well had not the second tormentor entered; the one with the black hair. We fought, I ran off into the vastness of the Wood with my mother. And there she stays until an allotted time is up, yet her sister followed her and now she has to stay with her. So now I am certain many of the Tunnels hate me as much as I hate them, and I pity them. They don't know what I am nor what I can be. But enough of the near past; you asked why I am retched; you will have your answer."
"I am prone to lose control of myself in the heat of battle. If I am not careful; I lose the sensation of pain, of fear; of sanity. And when that moment comes; I will not run from a fight. I cannot distinguish friend from foe; I am an abomination. Think of all the lycans that you know Rayne; are any of them my size when they are in the better of the two forms? Do they lose control the way I do? Are they lost as I am? That is why I am retched; and will remain so for as long as those who believe so live. Another thing; the green-haired one also called me retched with the fact that I crave human flesh; it is my elixir; it is my ambrosia. I need it to survive for without it I become weaker and less sane. Only a monster; an outcast would act like this and look like me; that is why they call me retched.", murmured Fenris Fenrir as his eyes gently closed.
"But no more; no more shall the Tunnels impact my life.", said the tall man with hatred lacing his words, "I have been casted off by them; beaten by them physically and mentally; they cannot be let off so lightly for that. Only a few from the Tunnels will be excluded from harm; they are the pups and now you Rayne. For the only way that I see is pain for those that so gleefully inflicted it on me. They haven't seen me in the height of my wrath yet nor have I; but I can only imagine how terrible that would be for any that enraged me. So here I am, Fenris Fenrir, a lycan that dwells in the Forest yet is not part of that pack. A beast that craves the taste of man yet cannot obtain it in large amounts to quell my cravings. An abomination that loses all forms of control yet can still think. A child; that no one understands yet all abuse. That is Fenris Fenrir."
