She honestly had no idea why she was there. Really. Who in their right mind would be awake at this hour, let alone out of bed, wandering the grounds. The whole idea was quite insane.
So why then was Mika- who typically considered herself quite sane- out for a walk? The Ravenclaw shook her head in wonderment. The very idea that she was risking being caught out after hours worried her, but not enough to make her stay inside. Why stay inside when sleep evaded her, dancing around just out of her grasp, mocking her.
Mika looked up from the ground, which she had been watching carefully to keep from tripping. Her steps halted as her eyes fell on the dark shape looming in front of her.
The Forbidden Forest rose up from the ground not ten feet away from where she stood. Tall, strong firs stood at the edge, almost as if guarding what lay within. Shrubs lined the ground, making the space between trees nearly impenetrable. It certainly looked forbidden.
Mika was just turning to leave when something caught her eye. There, off to the side, was a small path. She looked at it longingly, mind whirring. The forest was forbidden, yes, but she had always wanted to explore it. She had heard students talking about their own adventures into the forest, and the stories had only piqued her curiosity. Besides, she had always loved the forest.
With a grin, Mika turned back to the forest, moving off to the path. She moved carefully, feet falling softly on the grass. A few more steps and a deep breath, and she was in the forest.
It was much darker under the cover of the trees, where the moon's light didn't quite reach, and Mika paused for a moment to let her eyes adjust. Slowly, her eyes gathered what little illumination there was, and Mika was able to see the path in front of her. She took a shaky breath, more aware than ever of the danger she was putting herself in.
Remember that girl they brought out of the forest last week? asked a small voice in her head. The one who had her arm torn clean off?
Mika shuddered at the image that came to mind, recalling all too vividly the pale form that had emerged from the forest on a stretcher.
There was blood, prodded the voice. Lots of blood. Do you want to end up like her?
Mika shook her head violently, more to dispel the voice than as a response to its question.
"Don't think about it," she muttered to herself. "Just pretend like you're in the woods back home and enjoy your walk."
Mika nodded, pleased with the wisdom of her own advice, and continued walking. Her footsteps echoed quietly behind her, while blue eyes scanned the path ahead. It wasn't long before she started to relax and actually enjoy her midnight stroll.
Mika was so relaxed that she was about to start humming when she stumbled into a small clearing. The trees formed a canopy overhead and a few large rocks were scattered about, almost begging her to come lounge on them. It would have been a very restful place, if not for the sense of fear Mika felt overwhelm her. Burned shrubs and charred trees around the clearing only intensified the fear.
Mika felt her eyes go wide and her breathing quicken as she took in her surroundings. A nervous sweat formed along her brow. The scorched trees seemed to morph into signs, screaming "Warning!" and "Danger!". Heart feeling as if it was about to beat itself out of her chest, Mika turned to go, hoping her presence had gone unnoticed.

OOC: Don't worry, Ondrea. I think I can handle it.
BIC: After hearing about the incident, the nymph just had to go and see the destruction for herself. The utter desolation left behind as the great lycaness Sealla literally killed herself, provoking Mai into taking her life for her. It was a pity, really. She loved both the creatures dearly, but the thing that Sealla had become was not meant to be. Regardless of where it was living; such a dark thing could not exist. Not without bringing great pain to the forest. And she had felt this pain, felt it seep into her bones from the very trees. Such pain that drew the tunnel lycans, only to have them be let down by the once kindly creature.
And now she was gone, leaving behind such a scar on the land. The nymph walked along the charred dirt, occasionally laying a hand on one of the trees and feeling the death pulsating from it. Such destruction. It didn't have to end this way, but it seemed like this was the only way it could ever be. The land would heal, eventually. Grass and trees would grow once more.
All of a sudden, she heard footsteps and the crunching of twigs and branches coming from behind her. Looking up, she was shocked to see a student daring to tread in such a sarcred resting area. The girl would pay. Nobody would enter such a damaged place without leaving with some of it, be it emotional or physical. Skirting up a tree, she watched as the girl looked around, obviously frightened.
And in an instant, the nymph was behind her, so close that her breath tickled the hair on the back of the girl's neck. She pinned her wrists together and squeezed gently, allowing her black hair to fall in front of her face menacingly. There had better be a good explanation for such a sinful intrusion..
"Do you think this is all a game, girl?" She whispered teasingly, one of her nails digging into the flesh on the girl's wrist. "Maybe that is so. Maybe it is a game. Would you like to play? Ah, perhaps it's too late for that question. I think that you already are.."

*OOC: Ondrea, I thank you for the warning (I've RP-ed with you before, albeit with another character who's a bit more established.). Anactoria, thank you for the IC response. While Mika may seem a bit clueless, I am not. I came in as a challenge to myself, to offer myself an opportunity to stretch a bit with my writing. A bit of a test, if you will. You'll have to let me know how it goes. The title's a bit off, I'll admit, but it was the first thing that came to me. Now, on with the show!
*BIC: Mika had turned to leave, barely able to keep her pace at a walk, when she felt someone approach behind her. Before she could fully register the presence, her wrists were pinned in an almost painfully tight grip. A small gasp brushed past her lips as she realized she had been caught.
Fear was beginning to overtake surprise when the other spoke, breath tickling against the back of the student's neck. Eyes wide, Mika tried to turn around, only to feel a nail dig into her wrist. She halted the movement, choosing instead to bite down on her lower lip nearly hard enough to draw blood.
I told you this would happen, mocked the voice in her head, its tone one of superiority. But you didn't want to listen. No, you wanted to come in here and....
Shut up, Mika hissed back, shaking her head violently against the intrusion. The movement silenced the voice but only drew her attention once more to the nail embedded in her wrist. Mind still racing, Mika decided she had best respond before the other took her silence as defiance and up the ante.
"I-I don't think this is a game," she replied softly, proud that her voice shook only slightly. "It was a spur of the moment decision. I came here out of curiosity more than anything else."
Mika paused, considering her words carefully. One never knew when their time to speak would run out. Taking a deep breath, she pushed forward.
"Unfortunately, there seems to be a saying about curiosity killing the cat," she added quickly, hoping that her words wouldn't be turned against her, making her the proverbial cat.

Ah, curiosity killing the cat. Wasn't that what lead nearly all of the sudents into the forest to meet their eventual death? Of course. She wasn't going to start putting up 'No Trespassing' signs just because some little first years decided to get curious. Plus, it had been a while since she'd had the chance to toy around with an intruder- not since the intrusion of Aidana Hawkins had she really had some fun. So reasoning wouldn't matter, for the nymph didn't care if this girl could talk herself out of a jail cell. She was here and there must be a price.
She could feel the girl breathing fast, sense the fear that ran through her body. Aw, she was frightened. It seemed like such intruders were reduced to children upon facing her, turning into little blobs of inconfidant mush. Licking her lips slowly, she began to realize how this fearful little thing could even be seen as funny.
"Well, this place is scared. Perhaps your curiosity should develop a better sense of direction." She replied, leaning in so close to the girl that her lips touched her ears. "But I think it's too late to change that. Wouldn't that little saying make me.... curiosity?"
Chuckling to herself, she let go of the girl and violently pushed her to the charred and damaged ground. Sealla might have company in this god-forsaken earth soon...

Mika's relief at having her wrists released was short-lived, as the came rushing up to meet her. Impact forced the air from her lungs, while her head narrowly missed hitting one of several smaller rocks strewn about the area. Stars flashed in front of her eyes from the impact and her sides were heaving, trying to draw oxygen back into her lungs.
So intent was she on getting air and extinguishing the impromptu fireworks display from behind her eyes, that she hardly heard the other's statement.
"Wouldn't that little saying make me.... curiosity?"
The question registered in her mind and Mika froze. Her mind whirred, trying to find an appropriate answer, anything that might quell the anger she could feel rolling off the person in front of her. Nothing came to mind.
"Yes, I suppose that would make you curiosity," she replied quietly, blue eyes downcast. She didn't dare look into the other's eyes, afraid of what she might see there.
The stars had stopped dancing across her vision, so Mika pushed herself up slowly, gingerly rubbing her wrists. Standing shakily, she reached her right hand up to feel her head.
No blood, she thought, feeling the tender spot on her scalp. That's a good thing.
Blue eyes shifted side to side, searching for any possible escape route, but to no avail. The only way out of here was down the trail she had come in, which was effectively being blocked by the angry being in front of her. She would have to bide her time, and hope that she survived whatever this person had planned for her.

She could feel the pain of this earth, the pain that was everywhere. Sealla's blood had become almost one with the dirt, creating a feeling of misery throughout the small clearing. So much sorrow and suffering had happened here, too much sadness for even her to comprehend. Little of any interest had happened in her own life, spare her coming here. But Sealla had not ever been unkind to her, though she would not consider her a friend.
The lycaness had effectively kept away the pestering students, as had the demoness Mai. But they had both seemingly disappeared into thin air, leaving only herself and a frightfully few lycans to do the task. It was not one she embraced, but rather... accepted. She knew that she was quick to anger and hard to subdue.
She snorted when it seemed like the girl had all but accepted her fate, how stupid. How silly of her to just think that she could wander in here and escape unharmed. Had Aidiana not made her reputation well-known enough? The loss of a finger was certainly painful enough- the girl had caught the nymph in one of her fouler moods. Pity, really. She had heard that Aidiana was becoming quite the little magician up at the school.
"So, you've got nothing to say for yourself?" She said, advancing once more. Her fingers arched and stretched, reaching in close so that the might wrap around the tender, young throat. It was a rather nice way to go, strangulation, compared to the ways that she could kill.
Her fingernails graced the girl's skin, teasing along it as if she were a summer breeze. A smile came to her face and she instinctively licked her lips and nearly closed her eyelids, sure that girl would not put up much of a fight. At least, not one that would be a match for her strength.
