Her blue-grey eyes were shinning in the light of the moon and her long light-brown hair was swaying with the gentle gusts of the wind. If it wasn't for the grim expression on her face, Jenna might have been as pretty as a veela.
She was staring at the grounds by her feet. She was at the edge of the forbidden forest. She heaved a great sigh and said to herself, "We witches are such predictable things. We go to the edge to where something great, or something grave, might happen and then we just turn around." She gave a loud gulp and then continued to herself, "Well not tonight," and walked into the bustling branches and cracking sticks of the forbidden forest.

A large black panther stepped into her path. Its golden eyes were shinning in the moonlight. She saw the human girl pause at the edge of the forest, then continue onward. The girl must be new to enter the forest so brazenly. Even Evie didn't like to wander the forest alone. You never know who your going to meet, and lucky for this girl Evie had better things to do then kill a new student. She snarled at the girl and clawed the air in front of her, hoping the girl would leave. The forest is a very dangerous place, and Evie had to get back to her safehouse, the temple.

So sad it never turns out as planned.
Eurus heared the words the student had said to herself, watching with amusement as the girl decided to step in. He laughed, though his voice not audible to anything in the forest. He wasn't completely materialized in this world, his translucent flesh seeming to wrap around the stars as that's all it reflected. Gold eyes followed the girl, hands like lightning as they gripped the branches, smoking them in his wake.
Perching on a tree above the panther, eyes narrowed. He spoke, but words to himself that couldn't be heard or felt by anything other than the realm he spoke into. A grin plastered itself onto his face as the shadows moved around him, coming to life with a violently audible cry. Almost as if the darkness about was really alive, it shifted, a paw striking the ground.
For the first time since Gaftler had come back to Hogwarts, his kitties had joined him to play a game.
Flesh and stars fused in his own being, being part of one of his own pets to blend in even better with his surroundings, he released the second from his body, wings spread out as he launched into the air. A snarl escaped its teeth, digging its claws into the bark as it watched Sirius below, gold eyes staring down through the darkness of its surroundings like two blrightly glowing stars.
Sirius shook his entire body, dust and dirt flying as he stepped out towards the student. The panther wasn't a concern to him, he was hungry. Showing some similarities to the panther, he was slightly larger, a sail starting at the back of his head and trailing down his body until about 10 inches down his body-length center tail. He had two smaller tails, one on each side, shorter by about 3 inches in length. Massive ears that resembled something like a rabbit's were pinned back, picking up every sound in his surroundings.
A single horn portruded from his forehead, curving so it went straight back for a ways. His body was a mix between a dragon's and a large cat's, keeping the slender physique of a feline, get the bonde structure of the imposing reptile. The hind legs, though, were those of a feline, his front held massive talons that dug into the hard forest dirt.
Stars littered the cat's pelt, its eyes brilliant ones that stared into the face of its prey. It's lips pulled back to reveal sharp fangs that sent a hiss at the girl, a low growl coming from the other in the tree a few feet off from them. Tails flicked, ears twitched, the Nebuline poised to get ready to pounce on the student. Sirius narrowed his eyes, letting out a growl to warn the student of its intentions, though it already seemed rather blatent.
"I suggest you start running, little child," came the taunting voice of the demon, clapping his hands as Sirius waited, poised and ready to strike. If the child didn't turn around to flee, the cat's claws will be ripping into new flesh. "It seems that a child cannot take the warning of a sign, or a confrontationg of a panther to deter her from a forbidden place. Wizards and witches turn around here and don't enter because of this, foolish creature."

Evie looked from the demon to the girl. She knew better then to mess with Eurus, or his pets. I tried to warn you, its your own fault. she said to the girl. Eurus, I truely would love to stay, but I must be off. Have fun with the youngling. She then turned around and melted into the darkness, her invisibility and shadow-walking abilities protecting her from detection.

Post by Hayzie on Jul 26, 2005 8:15:06 GMT
Why, why, why did they have to go to the forest? It just wasn't fair. That night, Hayzie had been on the night rounds when she heard the Gryffindor common room open, and saw a brown haired girl walking out... or rather running. Before Hayz had been able to call out, get her wand out, or do anything, she had disappeared around the corner. Muttering under her breath, the blonde had hoped another Prefect would catch her... until when she passed a window, Hayz saw the very same figure running across the grounds to the forest.
"Just fantastic," the Prefect whispered to herself, a funny feeling in her stomach beginning to make itself known as she levitated herself down many flights of steps to the entrance hall, and headed out for the forest.
As she reached the edges however, the clouds in the sky seemed to cover the moon, losing any light that she had. True, her eyes were sharp, but unless things were glow in the dark, even night could be a slight problem. Pausing, the Prefect panicked, but forced herself to remember that it was a Gryffindor student in there, and that student was under her responsibility.... why did this scenario seem so familiar? Mary had been as stubborn as Hayzie could be about leaving, and Will.... well what could be said.
Taking a deep breath, the blonde girl continued to make her way into the forest, praying that she could find the student before it was too late... and her prayers were answered, though not as pleasently as she perhaps had been hoping. Hayzie was able to make out two creatures on the ground, and pick up the voice of... Eurus Gaftler? Okay, they had met simply a few days back... but under very different circumstances.
Bringing her wheelchair to a halt, the Prefect could do nothing but wait and try and think of a plan of action. Magic against a demon was never ideal...

Eurus stood from his perch on a higher branch out of sight of the two. When Evie had left, it was more than predictable, but when Hayzie decided to show, he was taken by surprise by the bravery of the wheelchair bound Prefect. Jumping into the air, he landed on the ground beside Sirius with a soft thud, standing straight as he looked at Hayzie with a confused expression.
Sirius let out a snort at the scent of the girl, turning his head to look at Hayzie. The stars he held didn't move, showing more stars that were not there before as if he was a moving window into the universe. Raising himself from the ground slightly, he looked to Gaftler, then back to the Prefect. Claws scratched the ground as he waited for a command from Gaftler, not wanting to move until that happened.
"What on earth do you think you're doing here?" Eurus said, casually walking over to Hayzie, eyebrow raised. He was expecting others to probably show, but definately not her. "You can't be in here, especially in a wheelchair! Do yourself a favor and leave," with a twitch of his head, he motioned to his cat that gave a snarl to the prefect in response, "or you might end up on the menu."

Well being seen wasn't exactly a shock to her. The blonde had expected to be discovered by the demon, if not by the cats beforehand. As Eurus got closer, though, panic grew inside, panic which she wouldn't allow herself to put on view to the demon, no matter how much he had helped her a few days previous.
Glancing over to the student quickly, Hayzie sent her a telepathic message in the hopes that she would hear it, and Eurus wouldn't. Get going, quick. If you know what's best for you, you'll go. Straight back to the common room, and I'll deal with you when I get back.
The message was sent with such authority, that Hayz hoped she wouldn't ignore it as she turned her gaze back to Eurus. "I think you may know full well why I'm out here, Mister Gaftler. And I also think you know full well that I'm not turning back and leaving until the student that is currently in your company is accompanying me back."
Okay, her words may have seemed out of place, and probably were. The blonde's ability to keep herself in line as of late would probably land herself in trouble sooner rather than later, but hey. This student was in her charge, her responsibility, and now she was here, there was no turning back.
"Cute pets, by the way," she smiled, doing herself no favours whatsoever, more than likely.

Eurus looked to Jenna and snorted. A girl with that much ignorance should deserve to die in this wretched place he called home. Walking to the back of Hayzie's wheelchair, he grabbed the handles on the back and slowly wheeled her into the small clearing. The comment she had made about his Nebulines brought two heads tipping to one side, staring at the girl. He smirked, stopping in the center and releasing the handles.
"I can't have that now, can I?" Eurus said in a sly tone, leaning on the handles on his elbows, arms draped over one another as his eyes flashed a deadly bright gold. Something was brewing inside of his twisted mind, and it wouldn't be long before he'd let the two students know. "That must be awful," he began, a gloved finger trailing down Hayzie's cheek, "losing the ability to use your legs."
Lifiting himself back into an upright position, Eurus strode over to Jenna, placing a hand on her shoulder. He walked around to the back of the girl, his head visible on the other side of Jenna's as he trailed his hand across Jenna's neck, dropping it down to just brush the space where the rib cage started, and wrapping his arm around the front as he cupped her other cheek.
"Aren't you jealous of this little lass here?" Eurus placed a warm kiss on the child's temple, pain shooting through the girl's head. "Don't you hate how foolishly she uses her freedom to walk into such a place, where you lost your freedom defending children just like her?" Nails dragged down Jenna's cheek in gentle strokes as his gaze shifted from Hayzie to the foolish student, the golden orbs shining brilliantly in the dimly lit space.
"I can give you back your freedom," Eurus's words were accompanied by the drag of clawed nails cutting flesh, blood oozing from the wounds on Jenna's cheek. "I can give it back to you for the price of a little game," his gaze lingered on Jenna for only a few moments before it snapped back to Hayzie, a grin showing his fanged teeth. "Of course, you won't have to worry about our dear friend here, you'll be fighting Sirius."
"And if you don't, both of you won't be leaving this forest alive."

Where there's a Hayzie, there's an Addie.
The green eyed girl had gone up into Hayz's room, hoping to plot their newest prank with her. However, to her surprise, the Prefect's bed was empty. Figuring that the other green eyed girl was just out on rounds, and knowing the schedule like she did, would be back within 10 minutes when the next group took over, Addie decided to wait. She stood by the window, gazing out over the forest. To her surprise, she saw one student run in, and another roll in.
"Oh no," she whispered. At a loss for a moment as for what to do, the brunette merely stared out the window in dismay, hoping that there would be a sign that what she just saw hadn't actually occurred. She couldn't get out to the forest fast enough to be of any assistance if she ran down the myriad of steps between the Gryffindor Common Room and the Entrance Hall. She scanned the room with a deep frown, which quickly dissapated when her eyes landed on Hayzie's broom, standing in a corner. She quickly grabbed it, opened the window, and took off into the night.
At the very least, she could try to protect her friend. She had no idea what had posessed Hayzie into going into the forest in her current disadvantaged state. Surely she would have realized that in that wheelchair she lacked the agility to counter many attacks. And how in the world did she think that she could get that student out of there alone?
The green eyed girl landed lightly on the grass outside the forest, shrank the broom, and dashed inside. It was the same path Addie and Hayz had taken so many months ago when they ran into Michaela, and the Gryffindor didn't bother lighting her wand in hopes that it would gain her just a few more seconds' advantage. She'd known that she would walk out of the forest unharmed that night; even then she knew that Mich would never hurt her. However, tonight's odds were looking quite a bit slimmer. Still, she pressed on, even though she didn't know what she would face.
A few seconds lingering in the bushes told her exactly what she would be facing. Eurus, and some monstrous form of cat. Adhara stepped into the clearing, her wand held in her fist. She glowered at the demon, "Actually Gaftler, three of us won't be leaving this forest alive."
"Let me take Hayzie's place, although, I must warn you, I doubt Mich will treat you kindly if any kind of tragedy happens to pass." It wasn't meant as a threat...the girl simply spoke the truth, and figured that Eurus would realize that as well. Michaela would not be amused if Gaftler harmed a hair on Addie's head.

Eurus looked to Adhara with an amused look, the Nebuline in the tree letting out a call that sounded like the soft meow of a baby kitten. Glancing to the tree, he shook his head slightly, the cat mimicking the movement. They truly were adorable, no matter what they were birthed to do. Grabbing Jenna's throat, he moved away from the child and made himself more visible behind the silhouette of the girl.
"Greetings, Adhara," Eurus hit a spot on the side of Jenna's neck, dropping the girl to the ground in an unconscious state that would only last less then a half an hour. Sirius shook his head, his ears flopping about just slightly as he approached the newcomer, his nose twitching while he sniffed the air. "I can assure you Hayzie isn't going to die, I'm not that cruel to handicapped children."
Shifting his weight onto his other leg, Eurus folded his arms and watched Adhara and Sirius out of the corner of his eye. "So there won't be any need for replacing, because you can already use your legs," he winked at Adhara, "which could be easily altered, m'dear." Sirius tipped his head to one side before backing up steadily, his curious eyes fixed on Hayzie now.
Eurus spat at the mention of Michaela's name. She had driven Demoralisante through his hand and slowly let it eat his flesh. The pain was unbearable. His hand still hadn't healed from that, the tissue slowly rebuilding over time as the engery she had soaked up was replaced piece by piece. Not even his sword could've stitched it together. "If Michaela comes in here, she's going to be buying the alcohol this time. My hand still hurts."

"Eurus, I know you're not going to hurt Hayz, you would have done so already and she'd be out cold like that one," Addie gestured to the Gryffindor's prone form at the demon's feet. She'd twitched and nearly ran over to try and help the girl, but she knew it would be useless. She'd be awake soon enough, although Addie doubted that the girl would live through the night since Eurus seemed to be so set on not allowing her back out of the forest.
The giant dragon cat caught her eye, and she smiled at his movements. These animals were truly beautiful, killers or not. Before she realized what she was doing, Addie stretched her fingers out towards the giant beast. "Aren't you a beautiful kitty," she crooned softly.
"I don't care what you think of the replacement thing. I'm going to help Hayz," Addie glowered staunchly at the demon. She still hadn't forgotten his previous attempts to kill her. At first she'd been absolutely terrified of him, but when she learned that he was friends with Mich, and, more importantly, completely intimidated by Mich, she'd quickly warmed up to him. In fact, one could almost say she was beginning to have a bit of a soft spot for the demon.
She stuck her tongue out at him quickly, "It serves you right, attacking Zo like that. Michaela really let you off easy you know. What exactly is this game going to be?" The brunette stuck her hands on her hips and lifted an eyebrow up at Gaftler as she waited for his reply.

A shrug from the first comment Addie made was all he replied with, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "This one was the one that involuntarily dragged Hayzie into this mess," he gave the girl's body a small kick, then stepping over it. A brow was raised as Sirius licked his talons, giving a snort when come of the dirt went up his nose. Letting out a noise to show he was slightly annoyed, Sirius placed his foot back down onto the floor, lifting his head.
Tails swishing side-to-side as Adhara spoke, Sirius's ears raised slightly and head tipped to the other side, showing Adhara he was acknowledging her words. Why thank-you, I'm rather proud of how beautiful I am. Oh yes, Nebulines could speak telepathically, and oh yes, they were extremely vain. Being created from a dragon, they had the thoughts and minds of them as well.
Sirius padded over to Adhara rather stealthily and nuzzled his head against her side, purring softly. This is a very rare honor, to see something as beautiful as me so keep your manners. It was almost an sincere voice, but if thought over again, it was seemingly playful. But it was no lie, Nebulines couldn''t support themselves on this plane of existence, they'd need someone else to bring them here.
Eurus smirked, watching Sirius bask in the fact that Adhara gave him a small compliment. Shaking his head, he looked up to Adhara. "The games?" His eyes seemed to glow brighter with the mentioning of what he had in mind. a grin slithered its way across his features and he turned, back to the two as he opened his arms wide towards the canopy above him. "That's for me to know and you to find out."

It took a huge amount of self-control not to jump out of her skin as the nebuline snuck up on her and nuzzled his head into her side. She smiled down at him, and dared to allow her fingers to lightly caress the downy fur behind his ears. It is a rare honor, surely something as awe-inspiring as you can't be from this place. The night sky itself pales in comparision to you. May I ask your name?
A plan had formed itself in her head, but she quickly shoved the thoughts away, in case the creature before her could read minds. She was genuinely interested in him, and didn't want him to be insulted if he assumed that she was using him for her own ends.
However, as extraordinary as the nebuline was, her first priority was to get Hayzie out of there safely. And the other girl, if she possibly could. It was a shame though, she wanted to get to understand the creature better. She'd never met anything or anyone as fascinating. The Gryffindor doubted that she ever would get the chance to interact with one again. In fact, his personality reminded her of her pegasus stallion, if the latter was gifted with telepathy. She smiled softly again at the thought of her beloved Adonis, and scratched the nebuline a little more firmly behind the ears in small circles.

All the while Hayzie had been sat thinking. Adhara had shown, much to the blonde's surprise, yet everyone at the school knew it was a rarity for the two friends not to be seen together. Though as she had done many months before, the words: "Adhara, this doesn't concern you," left her mouth, along with: "What are you doing out here, anyway? It's gone curfew!"
However, under normal circumstances, the Prefect would have invited her friend to accompany her on rounds, knowing that the Professors knew as well as anyone that Addie would simply be helping in case of any trouble Hayz was unable to handle on her own... Though it seemed Eurus was offering to relieve her of that problem. I can give you back your freedom. he had told her, and his words seemed more sincere that Hayzie could ever have imagined. Was he being serious? Though with this hope came a price... she had to fight against one of the creatures at Eurus's feet, one of the creatures Adhara seemed to be getting along quite well with.
How could she put herself in so much danger, just for a new student? Just for a new student! What are you on about, Hayz. You know you can't just leave her here!. But then it clicked. "And if you don't, both of you won't be leaving this forest alive."
So much for the simple option of running away.
Finally, the blonde gave a quiet sigh, her own green eyes meeting the golden ones of the demon. "How about I make you a deal, Eurus. I fight Sirius, Adhara takes Jenna to the hospital wing, and if I lose... well... I think you already know what the situation will be. If I win, then... you keep your promise," Hayzie tried, simply hoping to get Adhara and Jenna out of the forest before it was too late.

It looked as if Adhara was becoming friends with Sirius. Sirius beamed, soft purring that resembled a kitty escaping from him as he closed his eyes, letting Addie scratch behind his ears. Sirius, my name is Sirius. You flatter me greatly, kind miss. But sadly, Sirius pulled away from her at the snap of Eurus's fingers, looking to Adhara with a raised brow and a cute smile, something he rarely did when he was in the middle of setting the stage for his amusements. "I can't have you going and making my kitty go all soft before the game, now can I?"
Eurus had to stifle his laughter when Hayzie scolded Adhara for being up past her curfew; something he could hardly imagine come from the girl's mouth when her friend had come out after her, as always, and that be the only remark Hayzie could muster. But he left that whole thing between the two of them, not wanting to get involved in their little game of toss and catch to eachother.
"No," Eurus walked over to Jenna, lifting her up by the arm. "If Adhara wants Jenna, that's her own personal battle. I keep Jenna with me, unless she takes up my challenge." He looked to Adhara, raising a brow at the brown-haired girl. "Hayzie, I will give you temporary ability to use your legs while you fight, so the playing field is a little more level, and as for Adhara,
"Want to meet the rest of the family?"
