A small faerie about eight inches tall flipped around a tiny map attempting to determine which way was up. This was pretty much hopeless in the dark woods, especially at night, but he felt safer in the darkness, for some strange reason. Perhaps it was because his magic worked better at night under the moon. However, there was no moon tonight. "Oh dash it all," he muttered. "I know this isn't the legendary faerie forest. But I was sure I had the directions right..." Besides the buzzing of his drangonfly-like wings, the Forest was silent.

A tiny glitter of gold sparked past the other faerie and disappeared somewhere in the shadows of the forest. A moment later, a little female faerie dress in a handmade wrap of material landed on a branch of a tree nearby. Her dress was held on with buckles, straps and ties, and two ribbons of pink encircled two bunches of her golden-blonde hair high upon her head.
She studied the boy-faerie with crystal-blue eyes, curiously tip-toeing along the branch with a sneaky look in her eyes. Her pink lips contorted into a delicate smile and she timidly waved her miniscule fingers at him in a silent greeting. It was dark, because there was no moon tonight, but the stars kept the faeries able to see, and their clever eyesight could always pick up the smallest of things.
Her own wings were shredded beyond belief, and tattered here and there. She swatted them together occasionally, oblivious to everything but him as she eyed him again, her wide-blue eyes seemingly glowing. "Are ye' lost sweets?" She chirped suddenly, her voice breaking the eerie silence of the forbidden forest.

A small glow flickered, allowing him to see his map more clearly for a moment. He was so absorbed in his map that he didn't notice another presence. When the other faerie suddenly spoke, his concentration was shattered and he lost hold of his map and his spell. He suddenly grew eight times larger than he was before -- human-sized. He had shrunk to his small size for travel convenience, but usually preferred this form. He rubbed his head where it had hit a branch. "Ugh...who's there?" He flipped his crushed wing until it straightened out.

Turning her palm over, Lolitta produced a little orb of golden light which she held steady, hovering above her hand as she stared at him further, her crystal eyes sparkling. Suddenly the boy burst into a huge figure, and Lolitta squeaked in surprise, stumbling backwards and falling off the branch to land on the ground with a small thump.
As he rubbed his head, she rubbed her bottom, frowning as the jolt of aching pain shot up her tiny body. Biting her bottom lip gently, she climbed to her feet and looked way up at him; he was enormous now. Catching the falling orb of golden light in her hand, Lolitta dove back into the air, swatting her tattered wings together madly to keep her flying, and she landed back on the branch again.
"I be Lolitta, and ye' are?" She said sweetly, holding out the golden light in her hand shyly so he could see her.

He blinked as the glow revealed herself to be a faerie named Lolitta. He couldn't help but smile as he caught the look of surprise on her face. "I am called Luka," he answered softly. "I'm sorry about that bump," he apologized. "When I'm startled, I often lose my spell, especially on moonless nights."
He closed his violet eyes and a light lavender glow surrounded him. He shrunk back to eight inches tall and the glow faded as he opened his eyes again. "Is this better?"
Now that he was Lolitta's size, he could see her better. She was bright and her most striking feature was her shredded wings.

Lolitta stepped off the branch and flapped her wings once so she landed in a sitting position on it's barky surface comfortably. Swinging her legs back and forward slowly she smiled a sweet smile back at him, nodding as he told her his name. "S'ok." She chirruped quickly as he apologized, shifting her blue gaze to his eyes as he closed them and shrank back to his small size.
He asked if it was better and she nodded again, smiling wider. She was fascinated by the way he could perform such magic; for she had always been tiny, and never knew such spells to change her size. She'd never imagined being the size of other creatures, especially humans. Her eyes sparkled with delight and she patted the branch next to her, signalling for him to sit.
Her wings seemed to have a mind of their own as they twitched and swatted together every now and then, making a sound similar to a snitch. Throwing the golden orb from her hand into the air, it hovered around their heads, held up by faerie magic. Trying conversation, the coy little faerie said: "So what brings ye' to the forest?" And then placed her hands in her lap, waiting petitely.

“What brings me to the forest?” Luka asked. He let out a soft chuckle. With a slight movement of wings, he took his woody seat by Lolitta. “That depends. I doubt this is the forest I am seeking. The faerie forest I am looking for is supposedly filled with light.” His wings moved while he spoke, waving back and forth in a steady rhythm. Most faeries he knew were filled with energy and curiosity, flitting here and there, but he was different. He was more restrained, calmer.“Do you know of this forest, Miss Lolitta?”
