For the second time early that morning, the oak doors to the Entrance Hall opened and closed softly and a blonde girl walked out of them, this time heading back towards the darkness of the forest she had left minutes before with what looked to be a spark of hope, which had now gone.
Stopping at the edge, Hayzie Roberts had to look around her one last time, before walking back into the confines of the fog barriers situated around the forest prison. Walking through, she almost automatically navigated her way back to the dead oak tree. The young lycan knew that the others would just be returning from a night’s hunting and would be settling down to sleep any time soon, so luckily, Hayz would hopefully have the whole day to think over what Kelly had told her.
Taking her usual position in the dead oak tree, leaning against the trunk with her knees pulled up on the third branch from the bottom, the blonde surveyed her surroundings. Nothing but dark and gloom compared to the school where the flickering candle lights offered safety and hope. Now, the candle inside Hayzie seemed to have been blown out by the harsh cold winds created by the night going through the forest.
Going back to the school, even for those few minutes was definitely the worst mistake she had made since she had come into the forest to try and stop the war. Now, she felt more depressed and more lonely than she had done for a very long time, even more than when she had first returned from the hospital.
Wrapping her arms tighter around her pulled up legs, she gave a small, barely audible, sigh. She couldn’t find the energy to make a louder sound than that.

'What brings you up here, love?' She said genially walking towards her. Serena Spellman was aquainted slightly with Hayzie, but didn't know her all that well. 'I see youre better,' she noted that her hand was present.

Hayzie nodded in response to the second question as she looked down at Serena. To her first though? What could she say. "It's where... where I belong," she answered quietly, not being able to look at the girl. The events of the night had made that statement true. Even from the short visit, she knew that she was no longer a part of the school, but something else entirely.
"What about you?"

Ahyzie's answer troubled her, She didn't belong here, she sighed. 'Do you really belong here, I always thought that you belonged where your heart resided. And obviously it's not here.' A crooked smile landed itself onto Serena's face. Truely, she could tell that Hayzie wasn't all right.

Hayzie looked down at Serena again, her expression confused. Then it hit her. The Slytherin girl didn't know she was a Lycan.
"Sometimes events change the path you want to take though," she practically whispered, her voice still evidentally wavering as she spoke. "And sometimes, you're forced into making decisions against your will."

Serena nodded in agreement. 'The most important decisions that we make in life are almost always the ones that will make us miserable,' she shrugged slightly, 'I think it has something to do with fate or kharma, or something.' She dug her foot into the soft earth, making an imprint of the toe of her shoe.

“And sometimes… You make decisions to get involved in matters that don’t truly concern you and as such you suffer dire consequences. Isn’t that right Hayzie dear?” Although Rikka’s words were mocking but her tone and gaze seemed genuinely concerned as she approached the two girl. It was difficult to work out where she had come from or how long ago, a useful thing she had picked up from Chay.
“It is always hard at first…” Rikka said, still sympathetically, “So stop complaining m’dear,” Her face split into a grand smile.
“Have we met?” Rikka asked the other girl, “Or can I eat you more to the point?” Her eye glowed with excitement for a moment. Her change attitude towards different species was extreme.

Hayzie jumped slightly as Rikka emerged out of nowhere along with her usual mocking words, yet concerned tone. “Yes, sometimes you do make those decisions, but who said I was complaining?” she asked, looking down at the girl who had just approached. The blonde girl didn’t even bother wondering whether she had heard the entire conversation or just caught the end. What was the point in doing that?
“Leave her alone Rikka,” she carried on, no hint of confidence or authority there. She knew as well as Serena probably did that she shouldn’t have been there, and if it came to it, Hayzie would walk the Slytherin to the edge of the forest just to ensure she didn’t get herself eaten.

Serena observed the new addition to the group, obviously a Lycan.
"Leave her alone Rikka"
Rikka, yes, she had heard of her, she definatly was a Lycan. 'No,' Setrena responded, 'I don't believe we've met, and I don't think I'd like to be eaten either.' Hayzie was being tormented and Serena didn't agree with that. It was cruel and uncalled for. She sighed, hoping not to make this encounter a dangerous one.

Hearing Serena's sigh, Hayzie jumped down from the tree. It was obvious she was going to have to find a new one. Everyone knew where to find her here.
"Come on, Serena, let's get you out of here," she said sullenly, gesturing for the girl to walk ahead of her. It would be safer that way. Admittedly, she was supposed to be against humans totally while she was in the forest, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.
"What were you doing in here anyways?" Hayzie asked as the two walked along towards the forest edge.

Serena walked in front of Hayzie. 'Well, just going for a walk actually, until I came upon you that is.' She stepped over a tree-root avoiding falling over. She looked around her and a cool breeze swept through the forest lifting her spirit.
'Hayzie, can I ask you a question?'

Me too, if you don't mind, Hayzie. A hawk swooped down and landed on a branch just above the girl's heads. it ruffled its feathers a bit, and spoke again, so only the former prefect could hear. Actually, several. Want to find someplace to talk? The lake, perhaps?
The hawk quirked its head, and regarded the girl with familiar sea-green eyes.

The blonde girl’s stomach turned. Questions. At the moment, they were the worst things in the world. Taking a slow, nervous breath, Hayzie was just about to reply to Serena when she heard a voice echo in her head. Looking up, she recognized that hawk only too well. The one sitting on the branch just above their heads.
Rowan’s request seemed worse than Serena’s. Several questions? The lycan girl shuddered at the prospect of being asked questions she would have to answer truthfully. He would know otherwise.
This time, the breath the girl took was deep. “Sure,” she answered them both unsurely. She was unsure if Serena knew of Rowan’s powers and so carried on walking. “Let’s just get you out of here first,” she carried on, her gaze still flitting nervously around her, almost expecting someone to jump out at them. It was easily done as Rikka had demonstrated earlier. Hayzie hoped maybe, just maybe, Rowan wouldn’t catch them up. After all, since their last argument, they hadn’t spoke once. Tonight could prove to be difficult.

The hawk gave a brief nod of its heand and ruffled its feathers once more. Take your time, Hayz, I'll be there.
The hawk dipped its head, and took off, flying out through the trees and out of sight.

I might not be… Hayz thought indecisively to herself watching Rowan fly off.
Turning back to Serena, the blonde realised they were at the edge of the forest. She was grateful for that at least. “So, shoot!”
