The youngest Valkerie jumped with a start as she felt soft fur rub up against her leg. A lone twig snapped underneath her bare foot as she started, creating a sound that would alert any listeners of her presense.
Smooth, Des, the white-haired girl scolded herself as she carefully replaced her foot. She glanced upward toward the two students before releasing her held breath, satisfied. They had been too engrossed in their conversation to notice the slight movement in the bushes. Only then would she allow herself to bend down to see what had frightened her so.
Desdemona lowered her head to the ground until she was staring straight into the face of a furry creature. Her black eyes blinked, puzzled. The young girl had never seen an animal of this type before.
"Um, hello?" She ventured, casting her sight back at the tree once more. From their reaction, Des concluded that the two students were oblivious to her. She was free to speak to the strange animal.
Determining that the creature was not dangerous as it had yet to sink its sharp teeth into her, Desdemona held out a trembling hand to the ferret. She remained in her youngest form, that of an eight year old, knowing that animals usually trusted youth over age. Besides, a sudden transformation into a sixteen year old Valkerie might startle it.

Mort stared gloomily at the back of Hayzie's head. She looked so sad, so alone. She had never seemed like this when he used to know her. Even her hair seemed dull against her white face.
It was the forest, it was doing what It had done to everybody else that had ever lived within its walls, twisted and bent them into lifeless shells. The lycans, vampires, valkeries, all of them had been touched by the forests darkness. It was no place for anybody to live, let alone Hayzie, a meer lonley girl.
It would eat her alive he knew, turn her into a twisted monster like all of the others. He couldnt let that happen to her, he cared about her too much.....
He gently put his hand on her shoulder, turning her to look at him.
"Hayzie... come back to school with me..... please..."
He said softly, looking deep into her wounded eyes.

Hayzie couldn’t even look away now. For the first time since she had entered the forest, she felt physically sick. This could have been to do with the fact that she hadn’t eaten anything since she had left St. Mungo’s. The blonde girl was too depressed to do anything other than walk around and think. The girl’s newly found sharp lycan hearing caught the sound of twig snapping nearby, but couldn’t even look to see what it was. Mortimer’s gaze held her own fast even in the enveloping darkness of the early morning in the forest.
“I can’t,” she almost squeaked, sounding completely opposite to the lycan she was supposed to be. Lycans were known for being tough and monstrous. But Hayzie didn’t want any of that. She hadn’t even wanted to become a lycan in the first place. Fate was a strange thing…
“You don’t understand, Mort. I just can’t.”
"Why can't you?"
He soothed. Delving deep into her eyes, pushing back the lump enbedded in his throat.
"Can't you see what this forest is doing to you? Please, just look around you.... for one second... what do you see?"
He said, glancing around into the darkness. Only twisted dead trees and choking undergrowth bathing in thick sea of fog was all Mort could see. Hopefully she would see the same, and the truth.
"You can't carry on hiding for the rest of your life, you need to face your fears and face them head on. What is sitting in his hell forsaken place going to do appart from rip you appart from the inside out?"
He whispered, pulling back the tears that threatened to stain his face. He couldnt let her fall to the darkness.

Doing as Mortimer said, Hayzie looked around the dead oak tree. There were plenty more similar to it around and a few bits of undergrowth, but not much more. The fog hid most of it in the clouds it created. Almost putting a barrier between the forest and the school.
True, Hayz did want to go out and see her friends again, but what would they say when they found out she was now a lycan? After the graveyard incident, there were a few who didn’t trust her already. The truth being revealed would only increase that number probably three times.
Looking down towards the floor again, Hayzie knew that she should let the fog barrier stop her from leaving the forest. After all, it was the punishment she deserved for making such a foolish mistake, despite the fact she wanted to go against it.
“I can’t Mort. I told you.”

Mort shagged, hurt and dejected, how could she not see the death and evil surrounding her in the cold, dark forest? However he was not going to give up, he wasnt going to lose her like he had done everybody else that he had ever......... ever..... he reaslised. He looked up, not caring if she was paying attention.
"Whatever it is your shutting up inside you can face it. I'll help you face it, together we'll face it if it gets you through this...."
His voice trailed off with embarrassment and sheer emotion.
"People arnt going to diss-own you, you have plenty of friends and im sure they'll all understand. Possotive. And if they dont, I'll be there by your side...."
He blurted, his eyes glazing over staring at the girl, her sad face, yet it still remained so beautiful. He.....loved her.

Hayzie sighed dejectedly. Why couldn't he see that she was a part of this forest now. To her, it seemed she didn't belong at the school any more.
"I can't face it, Mort. Like I said, you won't understand."
Jumping out of the tree, Hayzie decided it was time to venture back deeper into the forest and put an end to most things. Mort's stubbornness being one.
"Even if I tried to explain it you wouldn't understand! Why? Because I don't understand it myself! So why can't you just face the fact that I'm not the person you used to know?!"
Many of her friends didn't trust lycans at all and she knew Adhara was one of them. If she found out, then who knows what would happen.

ooc: Ok, forget that last post lol Slight missunderstanding on my stoopid part ^_^'
Bic:
Mort sat by her side, slightly hurt by her harsh words. It may have been looking hopeless but he couldnt give in, he couldnt let the forest take over her life.
"What can this forest give you that your friends can't, in fact, what can it give you at all except loneliness?"
He said, he voice weak with lack of sleep and emotion.
"Whatever it is I'll stay by your side and Im sure other people will aswel......... and besides, a tree can't give the emotional talks that I can...."
He said with a small smile looking towards the sad girls face. He wanted to comphort her, make everything better for her, hold her in his arms. But he couldnt, she was to far off in her own world to even notice. He could only poke and prod at her feelings, attempting to get some sort of at least human reaction from the glazed eyed, white faced girl to make her come back with him.

No matter how much she thought over it, for once, Hayzie Marie Roberts had no answer at all to give. It finally hit her that Mortimer was right. What more could the forest offer her apart from loneliness and a shelter from sunburn?
Silently, she looked down at the floor, beginning to swing her legs slightly. This was a substitute for shuffling her feet when she was nervous. And when she was nervous, thinking of something to say could prove useless.
“You’re right,” the blonde girl sighed eventually, knowing there was no way out of the corner Mortimer had backed her into. “Maybe I should go back to the castle.”
One reason behind her saying this was that she needed to go and talk to Kasey about something very important. Another was that she hadn’t seen her friends, apart from Kelly, for so long… then again, they might not have even noticed she was gone. But the final reason was that somehow, some sense had been talked into the confused pale faced girl.

Mort smiled to himself, finaly he was getting somewhere. He looked over to her, happy to see a small sparkle in her eyes. He let a small giggle escape, privatly to himself. Swinging his legs happily he jumped off of the branch with a smile on his face. He landed lightly and turned to her, looking up to Hayzie, a broard smile appering on his tired face. He held out his hand towards her. "It's official then." He smiled. "Common, lets get back home before people start waking up. " He said grinning, gesturing to his hand to help the girl down.

Taking Mortimer’s hand, the blonde girl accepted the help down off the branch. It was now Hayzie noticed for the first time how tired the boy actually looked.
Her small smile faded to near none-existent again as she glanced nervously around them. For some unknown reason, Hayz felt as though the two were being watched. But surely if any of the forest lycans were around, they would have made their presence known by now.
Yet Hayzie couldn’t help but think she was doing something she would only regret later. Like a child who decided to stay out playing after he was supposed to be home. After all, she wasn’t really supposed to be continuing friendships with her human friends – instead, the young lycan was supposed to be getting used to forest life.
But surely so long as she returned to the forest and allowed a lycan to see her daily, there should be no problem with living two lives, the lycan life and the human one.
After a long hesitation, Hayzie smiled up at Mort again before leading the way out of the forest and towards the castle and a new double-life.
