Hayzie shook her head and gave a tiny smile as Mort explained what he was doing here. Well, in a very indirect way.
“I’ve been in here,” she answered, her voice still perfectly calm, yet showing signs of beginning to falter slightly. The blonde lycan looked around, checking there was no one else nearby. She was supposed to be urging humans out of the forest really. Preventing them from meeting with any of the forest side and most likely getting themselves hurt. Making a similar mistake to the one she made.
Gesturing for them to keep moving back towards the edges of the forest, Hayzie spoke as she walked. “I’ve been in here. But it’s fine. They won’t eat me,” she answered, nervousness starting to show through her seemingly carefree appearance. “The lycans and I… have an agreement so to speak,” Hayz told Mortimer, only glancing up at him slightly, feeling ashamed for having to lie. Of course, she wasn’t about to tell him the entire story… only Kelly knew that so far. Well, and Kasey obviously.

"You have an agreement with the lycans?"
He said, a mixture of shock and sarcasm.
"What, they don't eat you if you comb them once in a while?"
He joked, his voice trailing off seeing her face drop.
".......what kind of relationship you got with them....?"
He added flatly, his eyes narrowing, trying to looking into the girls eyes, hers dodging his.

Hayzie ended up looking away in the end. She couldn't look at him and say what she had to say at the same time. It would only be obvious that she was lying. But then Mort would probably know this habit of hers off by heart anyway. So either way, the case was useless.
"A...A complicated one," Hayzie quietly, and simply, said, closing her eyes for a second as flashbacks went through her mind, shivering slightly as she saw Rikka leaning over her off a branch, the girl's hand clamped in her jaw.

He decided to let it go. What ever was going on he was not going to find out any time soon.
He bent forwards slightly, cursing, rubbing a cut on his leg picked up from the little brush with the two creatures earlyier on within the forest.
"...I...was worried about you.."
He mummbled, looking towards the floor for some kind of comfort, non was found.
Its was hard to say, he almost had to force the words out, it had been so long since he had used the soothing words.

Hayzie was a little taken aback by this comment and for a second, she had no idea what to say in response. Instead, she was the one causing the silence... which made a slight change. Usually, Hayz was the one to cause it.
"I...I can take care of myself you know," she eventually answered quietly, unsure of what else she could say. When she had been younger, she had needed help to get out of situations, but being at MH had taught her a lot more than just magic.
"Really, Mort, I'm fine."

Mort's eyes dropped to the floor, his grip on his wand losend and his shoulder's sagged.
"....sorry...."
He whispered under his breath, averting her gaze. It all that he could think of to say.....
He slowly turned away from her and started to walk away, his head down. His head spun, his emotions roared within him. He clentched his fists and faught back a tear, a tear of both anger and the tens of other emotions facing through his head.

"Mort!" Hayzie called after him. For starters, he was going in the wrong direction, but they were close enough to the edge of the forest. None of the forest lycans would come out this far, so he'd be okay.
How on earth had she managed to hurt so many people in such a short space of time? It seemed so... wrong.
She didn't even try and force back the tears that were threatening to fall. They provided an emotional release that she presently needed...

He stopped and turned, startled, hearing her cry in the distance behind him.

By the time he had turned around however, Hayzie was already walking back into the darkness of the forest, searching for a tree to spend the night sitting in, simply wondering what would happen next.

He ran back to where he had just stood, looking around to see if he could see the girl that had now magicaly dissapeared into the darkness.
This was stupid, was it just him or was everybody around here amazing at appearing or dissapearing in the click of a finger.
Again he had his wand out, not much liking the idea of once again being left alone in the forest, especialy lost.
He stummbled around for a small while before finding her as she called him over, a small shy sound. She was sitting in a low branch of a long dead oak tree. He walked over to her, looking up at her.
"You like running away dont you?"
He said softly with a joking tone.
".....you....called ?"
He said, not wanting to pry to deep. Afterall, it was an emotional cry...

Through the stumbling and sprinting, the two students had once again found themselves in the presense of Paige and Desdemona. The Valkerie and the Lycan, hidden by a few trees and shrubs, were free to listen in to the conversation.
Yes, I am Desdemona.
The youngest Valkerie's voice finally sounded within Paige's head, in much the same manner as two Lycans communicate with one another. Her black eyes connected briefly with the golden ones before she glanced away again, watching the scene with mild interest.
Two humans running free in the forest? Isn't it your job to scare the students back up to the school? Where is your pack when we need them?
Desdemona's mental voice took on a teasing tone as she watched the two calmly. She, of course, had no idea that Hayzie was more than she appeared. The Valkerie also had no way of knowing that Paige was not a member of the Forest Lycan clan.

When Hayzie had left Mortimer, she had intended on finding a different tree to her usual to sit in, yet something had brought her back to the same old dead oak tree. In many ways, the blonde girl felt she, or at least her former self, could relate to the tree – long dead.
Before the events that had occurred back at home, Hayzie had been well known in her small village for being lively, friends, good tempered and perhaps a little too adventurous. Now, the girl sat on the low weathered branch could only look back on those days and wonder what had gone wrong.
As the black haired boy appeared under the tree, his first sentence ran straight through her.
You like running away, don’t you?
Looking back, Hayz could see that running away was all she had done over the past year. Right from when she ran away from home, to a few minutes ago, when things got even a little tough, she would try and run away from it all.
After a few moments of silence, the lycan girl realised she had been asked a second question.
“I…just wanted t…to say sorry,” Hayzie told Mort, still not looking in his direction, rather elsewhere entirely. “And I didn’t mean for that to come out the way it did, it was just a little shocking, that’s all,” she finished, her voice starting to waver slightly.
“Plus you were headed in the wrong direction,” Hayzie concluded with a poor attempt at a smile.

Mort looked down at the floor and then up to the blonde haired girl. Her hair almost shone in its surroundings. Just looking at her sitting there put a shiver down Morts spine, such a beautiful girl sitting in the dead, twisted tree, surrounded by choking moss and festering undergrowth. He shivered.
Moving closer to the girl her put his hands on the branch and heaved himself up onto it, sitting next to her. He didnt look at her, just looked up through the thin, dead tree tops and up to the stars. The sky was so beautiful. he'd never really realised before now....
"Whys it so shocking?" He replied, still staring up to the bright stars above, only bringing his eyes down to look upon her face, white and cold.

Shaking her head, Hayzie looked in the opposite direction to Mort, down towards the floor. The stars had sometimes scared her, made her feel almost useless in the universe. To the stars above, she was one small speck on the earth. To her, the small speck, the stars held a lot of significance.
“I don’t know,” she answered slowly. “I guess… no one’s worried about me to this extent for a while. That’s all…” she nearly lied. After all, days ago some of her friends had visited her in St. Mungo’s sick with worry themselves.

Boo was chasing fire flies in the forest. He'd almost managed to catch one a couple times. It always managed to evade his mouth at the last minute. He'd wondered if he ate it if he would glow like a fire fly. The idea of a glowing ferret zipping around amused him to no end, he'd have to keep that in mind. He heard voices coming through the trees, and wondered just what was going on. The forest used to be so quiet...now it was a place for people to walk in and disrupt things. It was ok with Boo though. He liked company, as long as it brought food.
He did his best ferret sneaking towards the voices, oblivious to the fact that most of the people talking most likely knew right where he was.
He sniffed carefully, trying to determine if he knew any of them. Hazyie smelled like the school, as did Mortimer. Desdemona smelled...good. He didn't know why, but he implicitely trusted the Valkerie, despite not knowing who she was. He approached, feeling safer, and rubbed up against the valkerie, smelling her some more. He didn't know why.
