Wilting Rose strode out onto the Pitch, her bright rainbow eyes streaked with every colour imaginable as they twinkled at the crowd seated in the stands above. She took out her wand and pointed it at her throat.
"Welcome to the first Quidditch match of the year, Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw!" announced Rose, grinning as the crowd cheered madly. Even though she had never been a fan of Quidditch herself, it was impossible not to catch on to the excitement, especially at the beginning of the season, when anything seemed possible.
"Players ready? OK… on my whistle…" Rose raised a small golden whistle to her mouth, Quaffle in hand, "… GO!"
She threw the Quaffle into the air, and the first game of the season was underway.

So she was back. And back with a bang, it seemed. Sylph had been back for just four days, after taking a rather longer summer break than normal, and already she had been thrust in on what appeared to be poised to explode into a battle and, as if having to catch up on a ton of school work wasn’t stressful enough on top of this, she had been drafted once more into the Gryffindor quidditch team with barely a moment’s notice. Still, this was no time for the seventeen year old to let her mind dwell. Quidditch was a game of instinct, and Sylph thrived on instinct.
She strode on to the pitch with characteristic jauntiness on log legs, her broom swung with lazy grace over her left shoulder, her long violently purple hair left free streaming out behind her in amethyst waves, her dazzlingly bright green eyes flashing in anticipation. Alright, so this was a nerve racking time, but Sylph did enjoy a good quidditch match. She only hoped that this wouldn’t be a repeat of the last one she had played for her house: Sylph hated losing. That defeat to hufflepuff still brought bile to her throat, even now.
Once in the middle of the grassy pitch, she lowered her broom – a classic silver javelin – to the floor and swung her leg over it, awaiting the whistle. In the moments before kick-off, she grinned wickedly at the opposition, her peridot eyes flashing dangerously. She had always been rather talented at muggle sports, particularly the contact ones, and quidditch was merely an extension of her athletic prowess. Sylph was fast, strong and incredibly competitive, and she intended to show off her skill to its fullest.
At the whistle she kicked off the ground hard and shot into the air, seizing the quaffle in her right hand and hurtling off towards the Ravenclaw goals at breakneck pace, keeping an eye out for her fellow team-mates should she need to pass to one of them. Before that would happen though, one of the Ravenclaws would have to catch her, and Sylph was tearing up the pitch at terrifying speed.
Sylph grinned to herself. Quidditch was fun.

It was the first quidditch match of the season, and would also have happened to include Ravenclaw. This match was Ravenclaw, Teagan and Persephone’s house and team, against Gryffindor, Laura and Hayzie’s house and team. Hayzie couldn’t play anymore, but she was sure to be cheering on her house from the side lines.
Still, this was different than the one match Teagan had played before; last time, she wasn’t a prefect, nor was she the quidditch captain. Now, it was as if everything rested on her, though that was quite untrue. With her tight schedule, before, when she was the only prefect of her house, she didn’t have enough time to start much practice for her team. Hopefully, they had managed to get some broom time while she was watching everyone else. One might be surprised what they could find in the Ravenclaw Common Room when it was unsupervised.
Now, Teagan’s second quidditch match at Magic Horizons, her first game as captain, and her first match of the season were there in a large bundle. The most important aspect of their game was the team members; Teagan knew that there was no quidditch team without an actual team there, so, unless the snitch was caught in about the first five minutes, they would lose. Thus, a team was needed to sustain them. Confidence was one of the things the prefect was most worried about; jittery students had issues keeping calm, staying in the air, and performing their jobs. On her first match the previous season, Teagan’s calmed personality had managed to help her relax. She only hoped that their team, and the current substitutes for their team, would be able to not get more excited than what was good for them.
By now, all of the team was in their quidditch uniforms: black and fingerless gloves, blue and bronze quidditch robes, and whatever else they chose. The captain had asked her team to have longer hair pulled back into a pony-tail, bun, braid, and whatever else would keep hair out of your face. She was wearing a pair of warm black pants, and a long-sleeved black shirt under her robes. Her shirt wouldn’t be considered a sweater, but it was the closest a tee shirt would get to being one. She had even managed to get all of her bangs back into her pony-tail style braid; being a beater, it was better if strands of her hair stayed away from her hands.
It would also seem that she was supposed to give a speech, as captain, to her team—or a pep-rally kind of thing. For once, she gave an eased smile. Actually, the stress level of others was kind of funny; it reminded her of how she was when she first played. “Okay, everyone. I know we haven’t played or practiced much, but I’m grateful that you showed up, anyway. It’s okay if we don’t win; the main reason for this match is to have fun, and, of course, put Gryffindor in their place. After all, they seem to win at quidditch a lot, and have managed to make themselves have more house points than us. Not to mention, they show off. A lot.” Their prefect was actually not being pessimistic, and was trying to get everyone to calm down by being a slight optimist. “At Magic Horizons, quidditch isn’t a super popular thing, so we probably won’t have ton of people watching us. Of course, it doesn’t matter if we were to have the whole school there.
“The point is that we need to tune them out, and focus on what we’re doing. Dodge the bludgers—or whack them at the other team, work together, get those quaffles in motion, keep them out of our goal posts, and get the snitch before Gryffindor. Of course, the beaters job will primarily include hitting as many bludgers as possible at the seeker. We also get to help score a goal for our team by distracting the keeper.” Surprisingly, the first-time captain’s voice was full of confidence, and not a hint of doubt leaked through her words. She didn’t care about the odds; they were there to have fun and kick ass, or at least try to, and what fun would that be if you were too stressed out?
Soon, they walked out onto the pitch. “Good luck everyone,” she whispered along the way. Teagan dutifully shook hands with the other captain, and mounted her broom with her team. This was their chance. This was their game. This was going to be fun because Teagan was given the opportunity to whack a ball at people.
Now, the official released the bludgers and the snitch before tossing the quaffle, and the match began.

Kicking off hard against the ground, the redhead grinned as the wind whipped his bright hair about his face. All year, he had been waiting for this one moment. Admittedly, he was somewhat disappointed he wasn’t able to play the position he preferred, but he wasn’t about to complain. Watching carefully, he saw that Sylph had gotten the Quaffle first. ‘Perfect,’ he thought. ‘Alright, she’s doing her job, I’ll do mine.’ Though he wasn’t used to playing Seeker, he was determined to perform well at his first Quidditch game. ‘Here we go!’

Sylph tore up the pitch, faster and fster until she became a red and gold blur to those in the stands, a trail of purple behind her. The quaffle remained safely tucked under her right arm, and she gripped the handle of her broom tighter with her left, urging it forward, a determined look on her features. If anyone could make out her features at this speed, they would have been scared. She was nearly there... nearly... she took aim, feigning left to put off the keeper. Above her she saw Aylen as seeker circling like his pet hawk. If only he found the snitch quickly, this shot wouldn't matter...

The cold air brushed against Teagan's skin as she flew into the skies on her broom. How she loved winter air.... The coolness of it that seemed to revive your body completely, the wakefulness it caried, the energy it stirred. Even now, in the first quidditch game of the season for her team, she was enjoying herself.
Headmistress Rose's oddly colored eyes beamed out on the players as the match made its hasty beginning. The wind was a little wild, but the prefect decided that that was what made it all the funner. Her tightly held hair stayed out of her face as the freezing air whipped beside her. In fact, Teagan also noted some miniscule white objects dripping through the air. Could it possibly be snowing? Well, it hadn't a minute ago.
Bat in hand, the quidditch captain reached a good view point, and it didn't take long for her to notice that she had left a trailing bludger trying to chase her upward streak. Also, there was the problem that Sylph had managed to grasp the quaffle first. Now, that wasn't a good thing. Of course, Teagan was a beater, so she could entertain herself with this unwanted happening.
Steadly, the enchanted black orb came higher and higher through the stiff air. The prefect's black gloves tightened their hold on her large bat. Closer, closer... Soon, it was only a few feet below her, and Teagan slid a little ways backward through the air and gave it a hard whack at Sylph. It was the obvious move, but what else could she do? It was better than nothing.

Sylph had spent almost too long taking her shot. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a familiar girl also take aim at her. The Ravenclaw prefect had aimed a heavy bludger at Sylph, hoping to distract her from her shot. Sylph took evasive action, nearly loosing the quaffle as she did so. The bludger shot past her left ear but Sylph paid it no heed, instead choosing to swing round in midair, going into a brief dive to avoid a ravenclaw chaser and yet another bludger before soaring upwards once more, sending the fotball-sized quaffle towards the right goal hoop with all her might. She watched it hopefully, praying that the ravenclaw keeper was completely incompetant. Where were her team-mates?
Sylph watched dumbly as the keeper went the wrong way! She had scored her first goal for gryffindor! Punching the air she tore back up the field attempting to be the first to regain the quaffle.

Sylph's purple hair streaked behind her and made her an easy target. Her path wasn't too hard to follow, either; it was in a straight line, and she was apparently going for quickness rather than quality. Had she yet noticed the bludger the Ravenclaw beater had sent toward her? Apparently not.
Now, Teagan's red eyes moved over to another member of her opposing team: Aylen. Aylen was the student who couldn't get a single potion that Teagan had seen him preform done correctly, and they had a tendency to do rather unwanted things with undesired effects. He probably couldn't make a potion to save his life, in all honesty. Like Teagan's, his hair was a firery red, though much shorter. It seemed that he was to be playing as a seeker this time, as well. Actually, she believed that this may have been his first game. Of course, it was her first game agains Gryffindor, so what would she know?
Though, the fact that he was playing seeker meant that he was one of Ravenclaw's greatest threats; he needed to be dealt with. Hopefully, Ravenclaw's seeker would be able to find the snitch before him, and Teagan intended to help her team. Fortunately, she had a bat, was a beater, and there was bludger other than the one she had sent at Sylph. Of course, the problem would be where it was.
The prefect quickly peered around and saw that Sylph had managed to scarcely avoid her attack. Now, there was one bludger hiding somewhere, and another toward the ground. How could she hit Aylen like that?! After all, what fun was quidditch if you didn't get to hit things at people?
Suddenly, her muscles tensed, but she avoided the instinct to duck. After all, why not use your environment to aid you? Instead, the prefect weakly, but sufficiently swung her bat, stopping the oncoming bludger. Then, she hit it much harder in Aylen's direction. Oddly, the usually tender student enjoyed this sport. Hopefully, the other team's seeker would get hit. Now, only to deal with the others and Sylph...

Now, both of the quaffles had been sent elsewhere. Of course, the soonest to return would be the bludger that she had aimed at Sylph. Still, it was kind of at the other end the pitch, and that wasn't too helpful. Then, they couldn't use magic during this, so she was kind of stuck when it came to getting the bludger and hitting it into the other team's members. How unfortunate..... At least, the second bludger was heading for Aylen.
A roar surged from the crowd, and the Ravenclaw quidditch had little reason to ignore them. After all, she was kind of in a standstill at the moment. Quickly, the prefect turned toward where the cheers were aimed at. Unfortunately, that would happen to have been Ravenclaw's goal posts. It would seem their keeper had a little mix-up, or was so stressed out that the keeper had gotten all discombobulated; that was also bad. How many times had she told her team to chill? Now, Gryffindor was in the lead. That was never good. They were cocky enough as it was, after all!
Bludger, bludger, bludger... Teagan really needed to get back into the action. She wasn't exactly fond of how Sylph was playing, but she hoped her own chasers would be able to fair even better. The second bludger was still in Aylen's direction, but the first had to have been unprovoked and floating around somewhere. The question was "where?"
The Ravenclaw Prefect's eyes scoured over the pitch. She looked into the stands, through the field, and near the goals. At least, she had a slight erge to laugh; the first bludger she had hit was still near Sylph, at the Ravenclaw goal posts. Then, the Gryffindor was also near there, so some fun might be caused. Still, Teagan would just have to watch the effects of that.

The redhead saw something move out of the corner of his eye. The snitch? No, wait it was...! Aylen yanked back on his broomstick, flipping himself backwards out of the way of the bludger. The black projectile clipped the bristles of his broomstick and sent him spiraling to the ground. “Comeoncomeoncomeon!” he muttered as he struggled to regain control of his broom. The redhead managed to pull up before he hit the ground. With that over, he didn’t dwell on it any longer. He had to find the snitch!

Sylph knew that, while having taken the lead, the game was far from over. She glanced up at Aylen where he was circling, his eyes flickering around the stadium searching for the elusive golden snitch. To her horror she saw that Teagan had sent one of the bludgers straight at him. Furious with her opponent, she yelled up to Aylen with all her breath, "LOOK OUT!" and then "FOUL" to Wilting Rose, the headmistress who happened to be referee today. No way could bludgers be aimed at those players not currently involved in the play, still Teagan seemed pleased with herelf, and Sylph saw why. Just above her head the second bludger was returning. Swiftly Sylph took evasive action, dropping like stone in the air, thirty, fourty feet down without braking. From there she scowled up at the Ravenclaw beater, but then to her delight saw the quaffle dropping only ten feet away. Zooming towards it like a meteor, Sylph collected, catching the red ball in the stomach, but not with too much discomfort, and set off back up towards the goals. She was more careful this time, weaving in and out of players, bobbing up and down as she flew to try and put off Teagan, who appeared to be on her tail.
Idly she pondered using the talents she had learned from Professor Windwaltz the previous year: she was still in training but Sylph had shown a considerable talent for wind magic, and could call upon the skies and winds fairly easily now, even if it was tiring. After a briefly wrestling with her conscience she decided against it: Sylph disliked cheating, even if things did look bleak. Not to mention the fact that using the winds to her advantage – or Ravenclaw’s disadvantage – would probably exhaust her so much she’d fall off her broom. Sylph was certainly not prepared to risk disqualification for Gryffindor. Loosing was one thing. Being the cause of the loss would be unbearable. Instead she carried on weaving and bobbing, until the centre goal loomed in front of her. She grinned, and glared at the Ravenclaw keeper, who was looking distinctly nervous.

OOC: This one won't be so great.
IC: After having her little bought of fun watching Aylen veer off course trying to escape her sneeky little bludger buddy, Teagan noticed some people calling her down. With little else to bother doing, the prefect descented, and they quickly gave her new instructions. Of course, she was shocked, but this game had to be completed someway.
After a quick change of robes, she took off once more. This time, she was going to play seeker and be without her rather entertaining bat.
