Keelin stopped the motion, slightly downcast now.
She heaved a sigh, then looked back to Sephe and shrugged, a sheepish look in her eyes.
"With a horse you pull up the head and swing them slightly to the side, does that work for brooms as well? Or is it different?" She asked, bright blue eyes innocent of her voice.

"Well the important thing is to pull up and lean back. You can turn to the side, but if you just pull and turn without leaning your just going to end up turning. But your getting the gist of it."
She smiled again at Keelin, wanting her to know she wasn't mad at her for her attempt. She knew that she had done some stupid things when she was learning to ride.

Haycee pulled ever so slighty on her broom handle to get a few more inches of height. Having a fear of heights, she didn't want to go much higher than she was right now. But then how will I ever fly if I stay so near the ground? Maybe I just wasn't meant to fly. A lot of people here seem so excited about Quidditch, but the fact is I could never play it...
"Uh, Persephone? Are you sure this is safe and everything? Like, how do you keep from falling off the broom when you fly at fast speeds? Is there a spell you could put on your broom to act as a barrier or safeguard or invisible seatbelt? Do you know what I mean?" Haycee hoped she was making sense and that Persephone understood. An invisible seatbelt seemed like a good idea to her.

"Well, honestly, I guess there are some spells that you could put on there that would help you stay on, but they would also hinder you as well. Per chance let's say that you were falling off your broom. The belt helped you stay on, but now your hanging upside down with no way to get back up. I think that's almost more dangerous because most people can't fly a broom upside down. I guess, you really just have to get a feeling for it. It's kinda like walking. Yeah, you could fall down, but you don't glue your feet to the ground.
Don't worry about it though. I was petrified of heights when I first started, but gradually I got over it. Plus, some people are good at Quidditch and others aren't. There's no pressure either way."
She bit her lip slightly thinking of somehow to get her friend to be a little less afraid of flying.

Haycee frowned. That wasn't exactly the answer she was looking for. She was hoping for more of a 'Sure! There's a spell that will guarantee that you won't fall off and I know exactly how to do it!' but Haycee knew that it was just wishful thinking and unrealistic.
One thing was for sure. It would take her awhile to get over her fear and used to flying. But Persephone said that she had done it herself, so maybe there was hope after all. But then again, maybe she wasn't as nervous as me to start off with.
Haycee carefully lowered her broom to the ground and dismounted. "If you don't mind, I think that for now I just want to watch you teach Keelin a bit. Maybe actually seeing someone go through the steps and do it will help me." She hoped she didn't sound too much like a pathetic coward.

Keelin nodded when Sephe told her about stopping, and tried again. Leaning forward only a little, Keelin was thrilled that she just went forward.
A hungry smile was on her face now, rather than her usual jovial one, and Keelin didn't wait for more instructions.
She was off, low against the broom and leaning slightly to the side to get some turn on it. When Keelin reached the goal posts, she stopped for just an instant, to be sure she could do it - she would be in real trouble if she couldn't - then headed almost straight up against the posts.
Almost straight against them. When she reached the point where the pole split into the houp, Keelin pulled even farther back on the broom handle, her feet locked on the broom, and she came over in a loop of her own before she weaved her way down again between the poles.
Her long brown braid was almost completely out - again - and her bright blue eyes shone with an excitement she had never known before. The excitement of what it was to fly.
Keelin glided in gently to Sephe, her cheeks bright red and beginning to hurt from the size of the smile.
"Thank you for showing me to fly so much, Sephe." Keelin said.

Persephone turned to Haycee and gave her a reassuring smile. She knew what Haycee was goinging through, and understood what she wanted from watching Keelin.
"Ok, if you think it will help you Haycee..."
She then turned to face Keelin who had picked everything up fast, faster than usual. Perhaps the Ravenclaw would someday be teaching others how to fly...
"No problem and I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Your a natural, but don't forget to practice. Even the best of us must, and it's not just for show either!"
She smiled happily at Keelin. She was estatic that she had learned that well.
"Now, if you want to learn how to dive it's a lot different. You have to remember that there's a controled sprial dive and then a straight dive. Either ways cool, it's just what your aim is in the dive that matters>"

Haycee watched as Keelin took off. Wow, she catches on quick! Haycee stood amazed as she followed Keelin's moves in the distance. She looped around like a pro!
And this was her first flying lesson? I could never have done that! But then again, different people learn at different rates. And she probably wasn't as scared as me about it either, which probably helped a lot.
When Keelin arrived back, she smiled at Persephone with confidence. She makes it look easy! Maybe it was easy? "Wow, Keelin, good for you!" Haycee was happy for her friend, but also wished she could pick it up as quickly as her. It'll take more time for me.

Keelin blushed a little at her friends' praise of her flying ability. It was just too much fun to not try.
"Sephe, how much does a broom cost? I can't borrow yours forever." Keelin asked, knowing that at some point she would have to climb off the broom.
"And no sweat about practice, I don't think I'll be able to go a day without flying now." Keelin said, her smile finally closing in from the over-stretching of her lips.
"Well, as soon as I get my own broom my feet will hardly touch the ground." Keelin said, sheepishly.
"But I don't know about Quidditch. I just enjoy flying too much to be able to pay attention to a bunch of balls flying about." Keelin had read about the sport when she learned that it involved flying. In all truth, she didn't care much for ball games.

Haycee felt the urge to give Keelin her broom. She'd put it to much better use than I would!
Haycee sighed, feeling defeated. She felt like she would never get the hang of flying. "Here, Keelin. You can have my broom." Haycee said, offering Keelin her Cleansweep. "If I'm too scared to fly, there's no point to me having a broom. Sorry that it's only a Cleansweep - it was all I could afford in Diagon Alley."

Keelin looked from Haycee to the broom and back at Haycee, and her smile fell.
"I can't take your broom, Haycee!" Keelin said, feeling so dumped by what Haycee was saying that she jumped down off the broom.
"Look, I'll climb on your broom, and you climb on behind me and hold on. You don't even have to look if you don't want to, but flying is too much fun to not even try." Keelin said.
There was no way she was going to let her friend give up so easily.
Keelin grabben Haycee and the broom and they were hovering with their toes just off the ground before Haycee had time to object. Keelin made sure of that.
"Going up." Keelin whispered, raising the end of the broom so that they rose very slowly, but very definately up.
About a foot in the air, Keelin stopped the up and started the broom forward slowly.
ooc: sorry if that's a bit controlling, but I'm getting you in the air Haycee, not matter what you say.

Haycee's face went white at Keelin's suggestion. She really didn't think she was ready for that. She opened her mouth to protest, but Keelin just grabbed her by the arm and place her on the broom.
"Whoa! What are you doing! Hey, put me down!" The broom started to rise in the air, and Haycee watched in terror as the ground got farther and farther away.
"Alright, Keelin! That's enough! This isn't funny! TAKE ME DOWN PLEASE!" Haycee's eyes started to water and her heart rate accelerated. Her hands were shaking as they held on to Keelin for dear life.

Persephone had lost her smile as Haycee had offered Keelin her broom. There was a time when she would have done the same thing, but she had gotten her wings, and someday so would Haycee.
She watched as Keelin took Haycee onto her broom. She thought that was a little forceful, but it got Haycee onto the broom anyways. She was sure that once Haycee stopped fighting flying she would get past her fears.
"Don't sweat Haycee! I'm sure you'll get used to it! Plus I'll help in any way I can!" She yelled up at both girls.

Keelin felt sorry for Haycee when she started to cry, and lowered the broom so that Haycee's toes could touch the ground.
"Haycee, did you ever learn to ride a bike?" Keelin asked, the broom only moving very, very slowly forward.
"If you were riding a bike, this is how high you would be. Now, I'll admit that the broom doesn't come with a comfortable seat, but it's more steady. Because the broom isn't heavy, if you fall, it won't hurt you, and if you fall from this hieght, you're not going to hurt yourself anyway."
Keelin had every intention of making sure of that.
"Please dont panic Haycee. If it makes you feel better, pull your knees together and lock your ankles over the bristles of the broom. It might make you feel a bit more stable on the broom." Keelin had done it automatically on Sephe's firebolt, and would have done it one Haycee's clean-sweep, except that she had Haycee behind her.

Don't sweat it?! I'll get used to it?! How are you going to help me from down there?! Haycee was petrified and felt completely helpless; with Keelin controlling the broom, she was left solely at Keelin's mercy.
Keelin had asked Haycee if she had ever learned to ride a bike. She had learned how to ride a bike, in fact, but riding a bike was much different than flying. When you rode a bike, you were near the ground and if you fell, you only fell a few feet. Flying had the potential for much more disastrous results, possibly even death if you fell from a great enough height! However, Haycee was much too upset with Keelin to answer her.
Keelin finally lowered the broom to bike-height. Haycee's feet were now touching the ground and her eyes darted quickly from Keelin and Persephone to the Quidditch Pitch exit and path up to the school. This may be my only chance. Without a word or second thought, Haycee attempted to get off the broom; however, her effort resulted in her tripping and falling hard on the ground on her knees. Keelin had probably been disrupted from her attempt at freedom as well, but she didn't dare look back. Searing pain shot through her, but she wasn't about to give Keelin the chance to grab her again. She got up quickly, not bothering to wipe the dirt off her hands, and began to run as fast as she could towards the school, leaving her broom, Keelin, and Persphone behind.
I can't believe she did that! Haycee had certainly lost trust in Keelin and was pretty disappointed in Persephone. Guess I did have a reason to cry in the library. Blood trickled down Haycee's torn pants, but she paid no attention. Her only focus and goal was to reach the school and get as far away from them as possible for the moment.
Reaching the school, Haycee flung open the door to the Entrance Hall, and then slammed it shut behind her.
