The dangerous move paid off as opportunity presented itself. She dipped and dove, weaved to and fro, to find herself within spitting distance of the goal posts, an excellent shot.
She seemed to break her emotionless shell, cracking a cocky grin as she showed off slightly, making an easy, solid toss through the right goal post, not even waiting for it to go through before she started speeding off towards the red streak.
Her hair tangled in the wind as she turned her head slightly to watch the ball soar through the hoop, grinning wickedly and repressing a cheer, then noticing that a teammate had arrived.
"About time!" she shouted out, though frustration had given way to pride and exhilaration. While glad for the potential help the new player offered, she had been doing pretty well on her own. Hopefully it wouldn't throw her off too badly.

Seeing the situation near the Ravenclaw goal hoops, Artemis flew to the left of the center hoop. She tried to avoid the attention of the opposing team's players and attempted to get near Nina to help out.

Xarian cut in front of the new player and snatched the ball after they scored. She was mad, but there was no more cursing under her breath, nothing. She flew hard, fast, not knowing, not carring. Her shoulder was swelling, and looked painful, but she showed no sign. She was going to win.

A blank expression waring on her features, Lynette dipped for the ball again. Her face hardened as she tried to desensitize herself from the other teams swagger. It was still too close to call. Though, naturally, a couple of the Snitch points would come in handy at a time like this.
Point blank refusing to search for Persephone again, she shoved the Quaffle into the air again, no more babying and no hesitation.
Her stomach was absolutely writhing in a bundle of nerves as she swept back, glaring sternly at the hoops before rounding off to let her eyes follow the streaks across the field again. Eyes firmly on the action, she did not let her thoughts stray from it.

Marina smiled as once again her hands closed upon the quaffle, though Lynette was very clearly on her trail, and there really wasn't much she could do to keep away from her if she wanted to have solid shots.
She spun quickly, soaring in the opposite direction, trying to get away from the opposite team members, glad that they were now less outnumbered. Glancing carefully toward Art, who was surely paying close attention, she tossed the quaffle carefully to her, trying to avoid all other team members and get it in the less exhausted player's possession.

Teagan calmly watched as the Slytherin team gained another chaser. She assumed it was a chaser because the girl wasn't carrying a bat, wasn't going to the goal posts, and wasn't rapidly looking around for a certain shining winged object. Her other team mates acknowledged the newcomer, but kept their eyes on the game. That was another good thing, but the bad thing was that the other team had one more object of assistance.
The new girl was heading toward the Ravenclaw goal posts, a major no-no. Teagan swooped through the air, and the flesh on her face stung. She paid it no mind, though her lungs and eyes were screaming at her.
Teagan swung her black club at a bludger she spotted nearby. It cut through the air, and flew right in the path of the newcomer. It skid through the air, wind ripped at its outer shell, and it chose a target.

OOC: mgckalhrizn.proboards35.com/index.cgi?board=quidditch&action=display&thread=1087698652Hikalyn, as much as she could afford to pay attention to the game below, allowed herself to be caught up in the terse excitement of the crowd and the other players. With the the wind in her face, everything seemed to fall away; this was her last game at Magic Horizons, and damned right she was going to enjoy it. She allowed herself a whoop at the latest Slytherin goal, and a broad grin of relief as she noticed some of the other players leaking onto the field. A bit late, but it was better late than never. Now finally able to view the game as a game, and not just something she had to do, Hikalyn grinned broadly and shifted her broomstick to the side, avoiding another Bludger that came her way. With no beaters around, the lone figure of the Seeker must have made a prime target. That was when she saw it. It was a glimmer of gold right on the edge of her vision, so faint that she might have missed it had she not been looking for that very thing. Swerving her broom towards it so hard she almost fell off, she was jetting towards it before she even fully recovered her balance, hands outstretched, willing her Firebolt to go just a little faster.... Her hand closed around something small and round, its wings beating furiously. With a call of truimph, Hikalyn pumped the hand that contained the Snitch high up in the air.

Artemis caught the quaffle easily and pushed it securely under her arm. She shot towards the goal hoops, swerving to avoid Ravenclaw team members along the way and always keeping her eyes open for other team members to pass to.

”IT’S ALL OVER!” Claire called, lowing her whistle. ”SLYTHERIN HAVE CAUGHT THE SNITCH! THE SNAKES WIN! FINISHING SCORE 190 - 40!”
Claire flew down to the ground and felt the long grass beneath her feet and tickling her legs. It was over – Quidditch was finished for another year.

Lynette's eyes swerved dangerously from Marina and locked down on Artemis, a Slytherin player in posession of the Quaffle that Lynette hadn't noticed until just that moment.
No matter.
She tilted her broom a little bit and sped off to close the gap between Artemis and the goal. She wondered briefly how easily the other girl could be intimidated. Blandly she guessed that she wouldn't. Slytherin girls weren't exactly known for being meek.
Suddenly, the Headmistress' words reaching her, Lynette stopped, slowly pulling her broom upward to a path clear of Artemis. There was a slow sinking feeling her stomach as a small word dropped from her lips.
"Oh."

when she heard that, her heart fell. She said nothing, but she let herself down on the ground, to nurse the wound in her arm.

Marina's attention diverted from the quaffle momentarily as Kalyn suddenly lept into action. She saw the triumphant look on the girl's face and knew without hesitation that she'd caught the snitch.
Slytherin had won!
Marina abandoned all airs and cheered shamelessly, hollering as Claire declared the win officially and it was certain that she hadn't merely been mistaken. While the Prefect smiled, though, she realized her exhaustion, swaying slightly on her broom.
She made a slow arc towards the ground, touching down carefully, her feet feeling odd on the ground after such a long time airborne. She grinned, balanced part of her weight on her broom handle, and waited for the rest of the team to hit the ground so they could celebrate, though on second thought, she was probably a bit too tired to Hogsmeade today.

Persephone had had the snitch within reach. But she hadn't been fast enough. Her heart fell as she came towards the ground. Almost...Almost. It had been right there, right in front of her, but the slytherin got it first. She felt like she had let the team down. They lost, and it was all her fault. She couldn't look at them, but thought. Maybe will have a party just because it was our first time together. It should help our spirits too!

Artemis momentarely took her eyes from her target and glanced upward. Just in that second, she saw Hikalyn close her fist around the snitch. She almost dropped the quaffle in complete surprise, then couldn't help letting out a whoop of joy. Finally they'd won a game. A huge smile spread across the chaser's face and she threw the quaffle at the goal hoops with the feeling that she couldn't care less if it went through.
ooc: for anyone who wants to come, I'll start a party in Hogmeade!!
