(ooc) All Gryffindors, you've hopefully read the post in the Common Room. Now get practising!
(bic)
Cold wind tugged at Laura's chestnut locks as she kick off hard from the ground, feeling the usual adrenalin rush as her heart jumped into her throat. If ever she meant business, it was certainly now. She glared down at the pitch furiously, demanding the empty grounds produce the Gryffindor students that she was waiting for. Checking her watch, she let out a sigh of exasperation. Ten minutes before they were meant to be there and no-one had shown up so far.
Resisting the urge to spit, she did a few loop-the-loops to release her frustration. Terrible. Didn't they know how much she wanted to win? Didn't they realise what this would mean not only to her, Laura, but also to the whole of Gryffindor? Scowling, she brushed stray wisps of hair out of her face.
Swooping low again, she landed next to the case of equipment, and pulled out her favourite beater's club, looking at it longingly. It had been a long time since she'd been able to play in her preferred position, but she was needed as Chaser, and would never put her personal preference over the potential victory of her beloved team.
"Time to come out and play, kids," she growled, dropping the bat on the ground and lifting off into the air once more, her knuckles white on the SuperNova's handle. "I think it's time to win."

And it was that time of the year once more. Time for the final Quidditch matches of the season to be played, and time for Laura's emotions to run riot. Oh how Hayzie hoped they won this match. During the week, they had tried to put together a team, hoped no one would land themselves in detention somehow. Prayed that the weather would be with them. But most of all, kept their fingers crossed that they could play well. Wheeling herself almost reluctantly down towards the Quidditch Pitch, Hayz shielded her eyes from the sun and looked up to where Laura was flying around, presumably trying to calm herself down. Why had she come down, again? "Do you want some blusher for those knuckles?" Hayzie asked as her friend swooped lower. "Or do you like the white look?" If she hadn't known better, the small smile would have made a laugh... but having seen Laura at too many practises, the blonde luckily did know when to stop pushing buttons. Edit: Spelling mistakes ><

Aidana Hawkins stood at the corner of the Quidditch Pitch, hesitant to enter. The cool breeze whipped around her emerald green quidditch robes, making it look as if she had wings. Well, wings would have helped in this case. In her hand, she carried an unheard model of racing broom. La Freccia, the arrow. Somehow, she had managed to miss about every Quidditch game since she had come to Magic Horizons, and didn't know if her broom would be fast enough. She desperately hoped it would. By the look of things, Laura was determined to win this match.
Just recently she had been contacted by Hayzie, the Prefect, and asked to play in the upcoming match against Hufflepuff. How Hayzie had heard of her flying skills, she didn't know. Vaguely she remembered trying out for the Quidditch team before, but she left in the middle of practice. Then she had decided to stick to racing her brother. Now she was here again, and she didn't know why. Maybe just to try out something new, or maybe because Sylph had also joined the team. What better way to play than with a good friend?
Taking a deep breath, she started walking out to the middle of the pitch. She saw Hayzie in a wheelchair talking to Laura who was up in the air. It must've been hard for Hayzie, not to play in this game. Walking closer to the two of them, she smiled at Hayzie in greeting. Then she stopped and thought for a second. Was she supposed to walk up to her Captain? She dropped her broom down on the grass next to her.
" Up!" she yelled, holding her hand out above it. Aidana was nervous and excited at the same time, and the broom emulated those feelings. It shot up quickly, but erratically to perfect mounting height. Swinging a leg over, she mounted the broom. She kicked off hard against the ground, and let the cool rush of air against her face relax her before going to meet Laura. Slowly she angled her broom towards the two other girls in the pitch and flew towards them. She stopped, hovering next to her Captain.
" Captain? Aidana Hawkins, Chaser, reporting for duty!" she yelled with a completely straight face, giving Laura a mock salute.

Elorra came running into the pitch, beaters bat and broom in hand. Skidding to a hult next to Hayzie Elorra gave a cheeky grin and looked at everyone "So sorry if I'm late everyone!" said Elorra and resting her bat on her shoulder "Had trouble keeping 'night in the common room" grinned Elorra and looking down at Hayzie "For some reason he seem's to really want to spend a lot of time around you" said Elorra with a slight laugh "What did you give him?" she then joked.

So she wasn't the first to arrive after the captain, so what? Sylph strode over the lush green grass of the pitch towards where people seemed to be gathering, a jaunty swagger to her long stride and a casual grin on her face, her silver javelin broom slung over one shoulder. She was looking forward to this; Laura, their prefect and skipper, who was already in the air by this point looking almost furious, had seemed pretty keen to have her in the team at the try outs, and hopefully with good reason. Sylph was a natural in the air, but then she already had an affinity with the element of wind, right?
"Alright guys?" she grinned up at Aylen and Aidana, the red-haired twins who had been her friends almost from day one, and then at Hayzie, the other Gryffindor prefect. Swinging her broomstick from one shoulder to the other with lazy grace and control, before dropping it so that it hovered at the perfect height for her to mount it. Kicking off to join the others, she almost wished that she could have afforded that Nimbus, or even the Firebolt for that matter, but Sylph's family were not wealthy. Still, it was talent that mattered, not the broom you rode, and Sylph had plenty of that.
In fact, as if to prove to herself that she deserved to be here, Sylph grasped the handle of her broom firmly and shot off in the direction of the goalposts, looping artfully around each of them twice before heading back to the group.
"Here boss, another chaser for ya!" she laughed at Laura, her cheerful expression the opposite of the captain's frighteningly determined one. To Sylph, competition was all important, but you wouldn't tell to look at her. Outwardly, it was just a game. Inwardly, it was a game she would not stand to loose.

At least the majority of the team had shown up. She had contacted so many people over the past week to try and get them to play... and it looked like it was all paying off.
It wouldn't be long before Laura set them off on warmups. Hayzie had offered to stay on the ground and try and work out a strategy, but everyone knew that the blonde Prefect would more than likely get distracted by the practise above.
"Just keep your fingers crossed, H. It'll be fine," the vice-captain whispered to herself, looking upwards again to see what was going on.

Ariadne knew she was late, and that made her even more nervous. She had played quidditch before, but never when it meant this much. Her heart was beating fast in her chest as she ran down to the pitch and saw Hazie there. The prefect seemed to be cocentrating on the practice above and working on a strategie. "Hey Hazie. What have we done so far?"

"Nothing just yet," Hayzie smiled at her most recent recruit. Okay, Laura didn't know about this one... but so long as she had a team, her fellow Prefect was generally happy. "Just go up there, introduce yourself and say... say Hayzie told you to come as Keeper," the blonde girl nodded.
"Got your broom? And more importantly, are you ready? Laura can be tough at times, but trust me. It's all worth it when you win the game," she grinned.

"Yea, I'm ready!" She gripped her firebolt tightly in her hand. She was used to riding it and thought of it quite fondly. She got on it and kicked off heading for Laura. Well this might get a little awkward if she doesn't know about me... She got close to Laura and said, "Hey, I'm Ariadne, Hazie told me to play Keeper."

Post by Makira Blackthorne on Jul 22, 2005 22:13:23 GMT
Makira Blackthorne had hastily jumped out opf bed, remebering today was practise for the upcoming match. Just then, Powder soared in, and started immediately pecking her owner's head.
"Ow! Owowowow - POWDEEER! OW! Stop it. . . Alright, I'm up! I'm UP!!" she cried at her owl, Powder insisting her to wake Makira up, Makira had made it very clear to Powder to get her up, and there on time and to the match. The small brunette hopped off her bed, Powder finally flying off her shoulder to go sit on her bed, and Makira went to change and bet ready.
The small girl raced down the stairs, her gold-and-scarlet cloak trailing behind her, along with her brown ponytail. She habitually straightened the brown forearm pads, which shone dully, and fiddled with her brown boot-like cleats. She straightened out her fingerless brown gloves, and her gold-and-scarlet sweater nervously, as well. She brushed a bang fron het amber be-specked eyes and headed across the Commonroom to the exit.
Makira had been ready to step out of the portrait hole, when she remembered the most important thing - her Firebolt. She whipped out her wand, and called, "Accio Firebolt!" Sure enough, the Firebolt raced to her side and slowed to perfect mounting height next to her. She grabbed it, and tore out of the portrait hole, then broke out into a full-blown sprint to get to the Pitch.
Makira raced down the Halls, pushing everyone in her wake aside, as gently as possible - much to students, and teachers, disapproval and annoyance - and raced across the grounds - the Pitch finally coming into veiw. The small girl hopped on her Firebolt in mid-run, and raced over, as fast as she could.
Makira was hurtling towards the Pitch, her hair and cloak whipping back, billowing behind her, and her clothes pressed up against her from the wind and speed she was gaining. As she neared the Pitch, she made to slow down, but couldn't in time - she passed up the whole Pitch, and was headed for a goal-post! Makira gritted her teeth, adn made a sharp left turn and - remarkably - didn't crash into the goalpost. She flew up into the air, skimming the clouds, and soared back down to earth rapidly, however, she controlle dthe speed at which she was going.
As she floated over to Hayzie, she whispered, "I'm sorry I'm late. But better late than never, ey?" And smiled weakly at the Capitan, Laura and Prefect, Hayzie. She also sent smiles and small waves to all her mates, and the new face next to Laura.
