I must agree with Talon on the minimum tip. Although mine usually do meet that, a lot of people just can't write four paragraphs that long for one post. If people are just talking about the weather, then there's only so much you can say. But if one is roleplaying with other people who are some of the best on the site, then yes, I should say that you should try your hardest to beef up your post as much as possible. But if it's just a small thread that one made when they were bored, then small is fine.
If I think of anything else, I'll add it. That's my preach for now. ^_^

Ah well, I believe it's something to aim for. It's all personal preference of course, but frankly, if you write less than four paragraphs and expect me to be interested in replying, you'll be sorely disappointed. Yes, I'm a snob - so shoot me.
It really isn't that hard to get four brief paragraphs down, honestly. And I'm not just talking about Chailyn (yes, for whom I rarely write a post under 500 words) but also for Laura. I manage to get at least four paragraphs out of her, unless I'm being exceptionally lazy.
Of course, as everything it depends on the situation you're in. If your fellow role-player has written a one sentence post, no-one can expect you to go all out and write a few hundred words, but at least try to get a few paragraphs in.
This is your opportunity to go crazy with all your pent up creative juices! Why would you only half do it?
