I AM NOT TRYING TO OFFEND ANYONE BY THIS POST, THIS IS MY OPINION, NOTHING MORE, THOUGH I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR OTHER PEOPLE'S VIEWS ON THE SUBJECT, SO FEEL FREE TO RESPOND
Hello, as you can see, my name is Adam Desero, I have been RPing on this site for... 3 days now? I am not new to the RP world, so no replys to this saying things like "shut up n00b, what do you know?" please. Anyway, I have been looking around the site, and I would like to bring to the attention of the student union / whatever you want to call it something I have noticed. I have been looking around the boards, just getting a feel for the place, and almost everywhere I go, I notice demons. This is to be expected, they are RPers too, and have as much right as anyone to RP how and where they want, but in almost every post I have seen, the demons are lording above the normal students.
I don't understand... if I were to make a demon does that suddenly make me able to burn people alive, rip out their throats, make a magical poisonous fog, ect? (Yes, I know that Claire is not accepting anymore demons for now) I have read that students are supposed to learn spells before actually going out and using them, or at least using basic ones at the begining of the RP lives here. What about demons? sure, they have been in hell for... who knows how long. Thats a long time to practice spells and abilities and whatnot, and that does make them a lot older than most students, but how much fun is it to RP with someone with near limitless power and strength? What is the difference between that and God RPing? (Don't point out the obvious please, that was rhetorical)
I would like to reiterate that "demon" is not "all-powerful-being-capable-of-mass-destruction-and-is-invulnerable." and please, don't give me instances of demons beating the crap out of other demons, that doesn't count. I'll delete this post and lock this thread if they want, should this offend anyone, but I just wanted to ask what everyone else's opinions were on the matter.
DEMONS, PLEASE WRITE WHAT YOU THINK!!! I DON'T WANT TO FEEL LIKE I'M NOT GIVING YOU A FAIR CHANCE.

Being a Valkerie - and therefore quite demonic, if not a demon - I must tell what I think. Adam, I highly appreciated your standing up for that kid back at the Forest. Yet, I must tell you now, that sadly...*sigh*...no. Demons are not all powerful.
YET they are quite powerful. Horribly powerful. No, they are not invincible, yes, they are highly endurant. TO A FULLY GROWN WIZARD OR WITCH they are not all powerful, at the very least. To a student? Pssh yes. They can break the child into pieces like a steamroller. Yet the fully grown wizard or witch, who has had lots of training in magic/medieval weaponry/demonology, can easily deal with one.
I.E. Kids, don't try fighting Demons. It's not worth it. You will lose.
The reason why Claire isn't accepting anymore Demons/Valkeries is simply because they are so powerful that we don't want a whole bunch of super-beings around. It is a PRIVELEGE that one shall recieve to gain that. Understand?

If I may, I would also like to step in and offer my defense on behalf of the demons here. Granted, yes, what you said was true, Adam. We're big, we're mean, we like thrashing silly human children that venture into the forest, especially when they're there for - no apparent reason what-so-ever. -
Kaiser made several points that I was probably going to illustrate, but I'll make my own suitable additions to them. We were granted the privilage to be demons, but not because we so thoroughly enjoy a good game of head-kicker, though that does come with the territory. We're there because we add that neccissary bite to the forest, the one that makes that place 'forbidden.' Demons are what they are because they are feared. Though, from all the students that flock to the forest one after the other, I can only ponder if they actually take us seriously? *Pondulates this*
And yes, though demons are as vicious as they are powerful, they are far from invincible. If that were the case, then -we- would be the ones whom would be having trouble finding people that want to RP with us. Demons do have weaknesses, but its not always a matter of exploring those matters. (This next part is important, kiddies. Take some notes, if you like.) Probably the most important weapon to use against the demons are your minds, people. If we feel like we're actually working with an experienced RPer, then we'll be completely uninterested in harming. This applies to you, Adam, whom I don't care to mutilate out of respect to your experience. You seem like a person who does not have to learn things the hard way, and that's why I feel us demons can take RPers like you seriously enough to not hurt.
I know that was a little messy, but do you see where we're coming from now?

You do raise some valid points.
At the same time, I also have to agree with Kaiser and Laharl. Demons, while certainly not all powerful, are definitely a cut above your average student. They're supposed to be more powerful; that's why student characters should take them seriously. As Laharl has pointed out, they're a part of the reason that the Forbidden Forest is forbidden. And indeed, most demons are arrogant; it is simply part of their characters to lord it over the students. It's the way demons are.
And no, being a demon doesn't give them rights to kill other people's characters by ripping out their throats, etcetera, as you had said. However, I honestly don't believe that's really much of a problem. To my knowledge, we've never had problems with demons actually killing student characters, and in their role-playing, that I've noticed, they're always careful to leave some way for the students to retaliate. This is a generalization, of course, but I think it's something that the demons here do well. My opinion is that a lot of the time, students reading just scan through quickly and miss some of the finer details of the post (and yes, I do this too, it's why I've come into the habit of re-reading a post several times to take in what's really going on and exploit it).
*shrugs* That's just my two cents, however, for whatever it's worth.

It is true that we have not had problems with killing students.... mainly because we can't. The Forbidden Forest is a 'hurt-only' zone, we do not have the auto-kill feature awarded to the Lycans, Vampires, and Valkeries.
Probably, if we had the power to, a lot more corpses would be showing up in the Forest, admittedly many of them of my own making (shifty eyes).
But yes, demon's are certainly more than your average student. Take Isaac, for example. He's, to put it bluntly, blind. He went from a weak little cripple kid to a quite formidable fire demon. He is definitely above average....and he's probably one of the lesser demons too.
Yes, Im sure at times we let our status go to our heads, but we were given the privilege of these roles because we genuinely care about good RPing, we're all dedicated to this site to some degree.
And......brain fart, cant finish.

-hangs head- Did that thread and my post start this Adam?
I just wish to point out that Mai is considerably intrigued by the children that enter the forest A LOT of the time. Sure, she may snap a few fingers, but a lot of the time she's actually stroking their hair, brushing away their tears, cooing to them in a soft voice, and overall sending chills of insecurity up their spines, but every so often -- when I see a new role-player who either isn't following the rules set out clearly or just plain sucks at role-playing -- she breaks a few good bones and attacks them badly.
The only times I EVER kill a character with Mai is if they ask me, or if they give me honoured permission. And naturally, I make the death symbolic, I don't just get it over with in one post and walk away. I give them as much dignity as they deserve.
I'm due for my daily breakdown, so I'll finish up and say, don't think we try to rip people here apart without reason, or I don't anyway. Vamps, Lycans and Valkeries all have their places to kill people, which is why they don't get seen murdering kids as much as we do. The forest seems to be the best place to find a toy, mess with it a bit, then let it go. As much as we're pissed off in life, we don't have territory to claim and behead anyone who enters it, so we lurk in the forest and wait, just wait, for someone to take a visit, and yet, it's still not ours, nor is whoever that walks in, though we have our etiquette with each other.
We're just the cursed freaks of Hell, striving to quench our anger with whatever attacks we can throw around and get away with...If we had our own territory, I doubt we'd be known like we are...
God did it. <--That was Mai. -rolls eyes-

Thank you all for posting, I appreciate it. It has given me a good look at how you guys see things. I understand where you are coming from, and why you need the powers you have. If anything, I was a little disappointed that no other humans posted besides Hikalyn Sarello, but whatever. I look forward to RPing with some of you in the near future if I haven't completely pi..ummmm made you mad.
PS Mai, no, your post didn't start this, I noticed it a long time before I looked at that post, which was the metaphorical spark in the powder keg. Sorry, I didn't mean to put you on the spot like that.

No it's fine, I'm sorry, good call too. Perhaps it was time someone put up a thread like this. Oh, and Adam, I would like to role-play with you sometime, show you the other side of Mai.
