Sylph hadn't been in the dance hall before, but now she felt it was time for some space, even though it was the middle of the night. The meeting with Ark had drained her; she didn't know what to feel now, or what to think. Darkness was coming, and Ark was mixed up in it, she was sure of it. Striding into the hall, she made a bee-line for the stage, where she sat down on the edge, her long jean-clad legs swinging over the side.
It was a large and spacious room, with left overs of whatever event was held there last - forlorn streamers and other decorations hung sparsely from the rafters, and the long tables that must have held food and drinks were all askew. Sylph quirked a smile. It must have been Fuu's party. She hadn't actually gone, not being in the mood to put up with all the couples - namely Ark and Makira - putting on displays that would normally have made her nausious. She smiled fondly at the memory. How things had changed. Now she couldn't even trust Ark... and Makira seemed constantly on the verge of tears from what she could tell.
Sylph closed her eyes. What was going on with this school? For reasons unbeknown to her, she began to sing, her voice low and husky, suited perfectly to the song she seemed to have chosen, albeit unconsciously.
Where's the peace of mind I thought I would win I thought I found my new best friend But now he's gone I'm all alone It sure feels cold
I saw an old pal the other day It looked like he just threw his life away Sometimes it's hard To see such pain And nothing's gained
But I'll keep pushing Pushing on Though it seems All hope is gone Cause love prevails After dark There's always dawn
She paused a moment in her singing, hearing in her head the blues solo that should have been played at that moment, nodding her head to the rhythmic beat, coming back in at the exact moment that the guitar died out.
I see the world changin' every day But some things always remain the same Sometimes it's so hard To be alone Sometimes it's cold
But I'll keep pushin', pushin' on Though it seems all hope is gone Cause love prevails After dark
There was always hope...

Ark was resting in the rafters, thinking about...everything. About Makira, the pain he had brought to many students, Sylph, Aidana, and many other things. Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice and looked down to find Sylph. As her voice finally died, he suddenly began to recite a poem that he just made up.
Tears of a Lover, Tears of a Dreamer, Tears of a Betrayer, Tears of a Lier
These are the tears that roll down my face, As I stare up into heaven and space As I wonder why the hell this is happening to me, Changing me and all that I see
Tears of a Lover, Tears of a Dreamer, Tears of a Betrayer, Tears of a Lier...
Lover, Betrayer, Dreamer, Lier...
These are the tears that I shed now... Tears of Evil, Tears of Love, Tears of Sorrow and Hatred, And Tears of Forbidden Love
As his voice died away, he began to wipe away some of the tears and sat in the rafters, silent.

Sylph looked above her, slightly surprised. She had only left Ark up in the astronomy tower half an hour ago. She quirked a small grin at him, though she remained wary.
"Did you follow me?" she asked him, her tones deliberately light and innocent, but still containing that characteristic Sylph wry humour. "Or do you beat me here and I just didn't notice?" She looked back down and kicked her feet rhymically against the side of the stage, watching her booted feet as if in a daze. She thought she could escape for a little while here - turns out she was wrong.
Turning Ark's poem over in her mind, Sylph realised something. Ark wasn't just dark now - that would have been too simple, and people, in Sylph's experience, were complicated things. He was torn. Torn between what he was doing and his love for Makira, his light. Sylph sighed. People were difficult things.
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh lord, please don't let me be misunderstood.
She sang the brief lines, and looked up again at Ark.
"Hey, you know that one, Ark?" she asked wryly, before singing a bit more for him.
Baby, do you understand me now Sometimes I feel a little mad But don't you know that no one alive Can always be an angel When things go wrong I seem to be bad
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
She stopped, and let out a short laugh. Things were so stupid. The whole situation was wrong. Friend against friend...
"So hows Makira?" she asked lightly, wondering whether Ark's light would prevail this time.

Ark nodded. He had in fact, came here to look at the sky but decided to sing instead. "Yeah. Ironic eh?" he said with a smirk. "She's good, a bit sad, but good." he replied nonchalantly.

Sylph grinned slightly to herself, her violently purple locks hiding her face as she looked downwards. It was almost like having the old Ark back... almost. She could still sense the hatred in him, but it seemed to have been put to one side for the moment. But how long would it last? Not half and hour ago he seemed to hate her, been paranoid and beligerant, to say the least. Why such rapid change?
"What's the view like from up there?" she called up to him. "Good sky tonight? Was a bit cloudy earlier." She paused. When she spoke again it was quieter, more thoughtful.
"Is it you that's making her sad?" she asked, somewhat sad herself. "Or just everything?" The last word came out as a sigh, a world-weary tired and forlorn sigh that should not have been heard from one so young. But then, they all needed to grow up. Fast. If they didn't... who knew what would happen to them all?

"I do not know." he answered her. The way he talked made him sound much older than what he was. "Oh, and the sky is clear now." he said with a shrug. He could feel Sylph examining him as her eyes traced over him. He turned to look at her and shrugged again.

Sylph grinned openly this time and looked around her for a way up to the rafters. Seeing a likely spot on the left hand side of the stage behind her she jumped up and walked over. Next thing Ark knew, she had swung herself up lightly to join him on the beam, one leg hanging over and swingly slightly, the other bent up with her arm resting casually on it. She glanced up at the sky and smiled.
"You're right, much clearer now," she commented, though her words held deeper meaning. The sky was Ark. Clear at times, cloudy and hidden at others, and downright violent when it wanted to be. She smiled and sat in silence, not knowing what else to say, merely enjoying the company of her friend while the calmness lasted.

Makira silently stepped in, hearing Ark's voice float up to where she was aimlessly roaming the halls, searching and looking deep within her heart. The eerie echo of her love's voice had entranced her, and brought her to him. She was dressed in a ankle-length, dark red dress with long, black sleeves. Her waist sash was black, and she wore black sandals. Her hair was falling about her shoulders and her bangs were hanging at the sides of her face. black and dark blue bangle braclets hung around her right hand's wrist and a chain raclet around the other.
She looked utterly lost, like she was looking for something that could never be found. She had a sad smile upon her lips, however, her sienna, amber speckled eyes were a bit teary, like they always were now, and shined dully.
She was singing to herself....
"I looked away Then I look back at you You try to say The things that you can't undo If I had my way I'd never get over you Today's the day I pray that we make it through
Make it through the fall Make it through it all
And I don't wanna fall to pieces I just want to sit and stare at you I don't want to talk about it And I don't want a conversation I just want to cry in front of you I don't want to talk about it 'Cause I'm in Love With you
You're the only one, I'd be with till the end When I come undone You bring me back again Back under the stars Back into your arms
And I don't wanna fall to pieces I just want to sit and stare at you I don't want to talk about it And I don't want a conversation I just want to cry in front of you I don't want to talk about it 'Cause I'm in Love With you
Wanna know who you are Wanna know where to start I wanna know what this means
Wanna know how you feel Wanna know what is real I wanna know everything, everything
And I don't wanna fall to pieces I just want to sit and stare at you I don't want to talk about it And I don't want a conversation I just want to cry in front of you I don't want to talk about it
And I don't wanna fall to pieces I just want to sit and stare at you I don't want to talk about it And I don't want a conversation I just want to cry in front of you I don't want to talk about it 'Cause I'm in Love With you
I'm in love with you 'Cause I'm in love with you I'm in love with you I'm in love with you.."
She hummed another song as she wandered to the stage. She climbed on top, and sat on the edge, her feet kicking and dangling in the air. She was oblivious to who was in the room, besides the subconcious knowing that Ark was.

Sylph quirked an eyebrow as Makira, of all people, walked into the hall. Speak of the devil... she thought to herself, and glanced over to Ark to see how he would react to the arrival of his love. If anyone could spark that light in him to overpower the darkness, it was her. Silently she moved to lay down on her front on the thin rafter to get a better look at her friend where she sat on the stage, almost exactly where Sylph had been not minutes beforehand. Sylph was right, there were tears again in her sienna eyes, though her voice was bright enough when she sang her sad song.
Resuming her sitting position, dangling one long leg over the side of the rafter, Sylph reached into the left inside pocket of her ever-present black denim jacket and pulled out from amongst the rest of the paraphernalia that lurked there a special 20-B blues harmonica. She raised it slowly to her lips and blew gently, creating the notes famous from those spagetti westerns. Show-down? Who knew? She grinned widely and waited for Ark to move first.

Makira noted Sylph's presence and swayed to her harmonica-playing: she was known for getting into beats quickly.
She just kicked her legs out and fiddled with her bangle-braclets. She still hummed the song she was humming earlier, slightly.
Her dark chocolate hair fell in front of her face as she lowered her head, stil swaying and humming.
