This shocked Ashlle more than the plates appearance. She picked up the spoon, cleaned it off on her apron and asked.
"Are you the girl whom I asked if they were getting a Seeing-eye- Dog?" she asked chokingly. It had been obvious the girl couldn't see her why hadn't she noticed? She gently handed the girl the Spoon and guided her other hand to he bowl, so there were no accidents.
"It should be just right for eating, the house elves don't send anything boiling hot up to the Hospital Wing. There's no need for more burns than usual here."
She then sat down on a chair next to the bed, as if she were overtired suddenly.

"Are you the girl whom I asked if they were getting a Seeing-eye- Dog?"
Brows furrowed over blue orbs at the question, confusion obvious.
"No, I don't believe I am," Kira replied haltingly. Spoon moved slowly into the soup, and she leaned forward. Her expression became less serious as she tasted the soup, quickly reaching to get another spoonful.
"I don't think I've talked to you before now," she added after a few more bites. "Though, with my head the way it is at the moment, it wouldn't surprise me to find out I had, and just don't remember."

"Hmmm, that's ok don't worry yourself over it." said Ashlle, in a kind sort of voice. "This I've just remembered who it was that i said that too. A girl by the name of Juliet . . . I suppose I aught to introduce you." She sighed and her brows furrowed.
"I suppose then I aught to ask you, why not get a seeing-eye dog? There is a Wizard in Edinburgh that breeds them to be about a smart as the average unicorn. I'm sure one of his dogs would be a big help to you."
Watching Kira eat Ashlle was getting hungry as well. She'd worked thought lunch on the closet and now she tummy rumbled. But just as soon as it had, a plate of food appeared on another tray before her. This must be for me, oh what prompt service!
"Do you mind if I eat my lunch with you?" she asked Kira, wondering if perhaps she might wish to be left alone.

Kira shook her head slightly at the suggestion, considering her answer carefully.
"I've thought about it," she answered honestly. "But I've never had the.... resources to act on it."
She shrugged, spooning more soup into her mouth.
"I've always gotten by," she added thoughtfully, frown creeping back onto her face, muttering, "That, and I'd never be able to afford it."
A quick shake of her head and she was smiling once more, turning slightly to the girl sitting next to her.
"Go ahead and eat your lunch. I'd enjoy some company."
Pausing for a moment, she added quickly, "I'm Kira, by the way."

"I am Ashlle Rainier the Temp Nurse" said Ashlle. "If you want to keep things official you can call me Miss Ashlle, if not Ashlle will do fine."
Opening the food package on her own tray, she found a Egg Salad sandwich, with a side of crisps and a Bavarian Cream donut, and a bottle of butterbeer.
Ashlle dog into this feast with a relish, having never tasted most of these delicacies before. After a moment or two of silent eating, Ashlle asked.
"I hate to press the subject, but I must ask; do you really like being alone in that respect? I mean if you could afford to feed a helping pet, I'm sure there would be a way to get you one. On the other hand, if you really don't care to have something like that I'll understand. I . . . Just want to be clear on that point."
Ashlle was of course thinking of her own vast fortune. Still she was aware how awkward it would be if she just came out and said such a thing. If Kira agreed to her proposal Ashlle was going to propose putting Kira on a National Need list them sneak off and get the pet herself.
OOC: Crisps are Irish Potato chips by the way. They are also called 'play pieces' when eaten on the playground.

"It's very nice to meet you, Ashlle," Kira replied, glad to finally have a name to put with the voice. She was beginning to feel better, content with the feeling of soup warming her insides. Reaching carefully across the tray, her hand wrapped slowly around a cool glass, bringing it to her lips.
Sputtering, she blushed furiously at Ashlle's questioning, turning away briefly as she regathered her composure.
"I wouldn't mind the company," she started hesitantly, plowing forward, "In fact, I'd love some company. It's just.... the expense, and what-not, well...."
She shrugged, sipping from the glass in her hand as she considered what she had just said.

Ashlle nodded. "Ah ha, I see well, there is something The Muggles call a 'National Need' list. You get yourself put on it and sooner or later you get yourself whatever it is you were put on the list for. I'm sure the wizarding worlds has something like that, so as long as you could find a way to feed the animal I'm sure we might put you on such a list." Ashlle looked side ways at Kira and plunged onward.
"While your here, you might feed him from your house table or something. While your away . . . well I suppose you might leave him in someones care. But a dog doesn't eat much more than a human after all. In fact I believe the eat much less. But never mind, I won't distress you with such talk any more. If you change your mind you'll know where to find me."
And she began to eat her donut, accidentally getting some of the cream`e on her apron.

Kira nodded in acknoledement, listening carefully to the nurse ramble on. When she was certain the other was done, she spoke.
"I suppose I could do that," she started slowly, hurriedly adding, "Feed it off the table, I mean. It would save on food and what not, but... Wouldn't that be considered bad manners? And aren't the dogs trained to.... well, behave? Not act like typical dogs?"
She shook her head, blushing slightly as she realized she had been rambling yet again.
"I'm sorry, it's just... This is all such a big adjustment for me," she added softly.
With a shrug, she spooned the last of her soup into her mouth, thoughtful expression on her face.
"In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to find a cane. Maybe a stick would work...." she muttered to herself.

"Mmmm" agreed Ashlle "or some friends would do nicely. I could introduce you to afew of mine." Now that she had gotten Kira interested in having a seeing-eye dog, she didn't want her to loose interest.
"Well, I didn't actually mean feed him off the actual table. What I meant was you might ask the House Elves to provide a separate plate for you canine companion, and where ever you sit to send it to you. You put it on the floor, give the permission command and the dog eats. That costs nothing at all because I board my Thestral here and they don't make me pay for feed. House Elves are like that, they just live to help you out.
When she mentioned something about a cane Ashlle quickly got up and went to the closet, pulling out a fairly new Speaking Cane, and brought it to the bed.
"Would you hold this for a moment?" she asked, knowing full well what the cane would say once it fell a new master grab hold of it. Gently she giddied Kira's hand to the handle. The Speaking Cane was made of a fine cherry wood and had a good indestructible charm on it. So good in fact that it had outlasted it's last master.

"Oh, I see," Kira replied, nodding slightly. "That makes a lot more sense than sneaking scraps under the table. D'you think they could make something that's more... I dunno, suitable for a dog?"
She was feeling much better now, having had some real food and a few moments to rest. She was quite excited at the idea of getting a guide-dog, though still a bit worried about the logistics of such a move.
"I'm sure it would be OK if they just fix what they're fixing for everyone else," she continued. "It's just, my mum always used to tell us..."
She stopped abruptly, realizing the direction in which she had been headed with the previous thought.
Quit it Kira! she snarled mentally, scowl fixed on her face. You don't have to think about them anymore. Just forget it!
"I-I'm sorry," she stammered, for what seemed like the thousandth time since her arrival a short time ago. She fell silent, not wishing to elaborate.
She jumped slightly at Ashlle's voice. She had been so involved in her past that she hadn't heard the other move.
"S-sure," she replied, voice still a bit shaky. Allowing her hand to be guided, fingertips soon brushed the smooth wood of what she assumed to be a cane. She closed her fingers around it, reveling in the smooth feel of polished wood.

"You are in bed now" Spoke the cane. "The Bed is two feet from the floor, there is a tray in front of you. Push tray slowly to the right before swinging legs out of bed to the left and proceeding."
"Surprise" said Ashlle calmly so as not to startle Kira any more than she was already startled. "I found this while I was cleaning out the closet and forgot about it till you came. Personally I think a Companion is better seeing as the tag said this was found in the lake, but it will do for now.
Ashlle was silent for a moment as she read the instructions on the cane's tag. "It says if you say 'okay' once it tells you where you are and what's around you, it won't give you directions on what to do next. It also says here that once you take it on your normal rounds once, it will be able to give you directions to places you visit often. Since it was found at the school, I'll bet it knows the way around already."

"Let's hope," Kira said with a grin. "I wish I would have had one of these sooner! It would have made life much easier. Though I don't know what the muggles would have thought of it..."
She giggled slightly, memories of moments before forgotten, trying to imagine the faces of passerby if she had indeed had a talking cane in the muggle world.
"I guess there's no time like the present to find out. Hopefully we won't get too lost. I want to take a nap before it's time for dinner."
She paused for a moment, remembering the cane's instructions. Right hand moved out, pushing the tray to the side, before she swung her legs off the left side of the bed.
"OK," she said softly, waiting for more information.
"There is a bed four point two six feet in front of you. There is a door sixteen point oh four feet away and to the right five point eight feet," the cane replied methodically.
"Well, that definitely clears it up for me!" Kira joked. "This is gonna be really weird."
She set off, using the cane to feel carefully across the floor for any obstacles. She was nearly to the door (which the cane had just informed her was two point four five feet away) when she remembered something.
"Thank you so much for all your help!" she exclaimed, smiling back at Ashlle. "Hopefully we'll bump into each other again. I'll try my best not to whack you in the shins with this!"
She hefted the cane in the air, almost as if in salute, then turned back to the door, intent on making her way back to the Gryffindor common room.
((Sorry, couldn't resist! The thought of a talking cane was just too much to leave be))

"Hey! I didn't let you go!" called Ashlle the Nurse. "But if your going to go anywhere ask that thing where the Great Hall is. I'm much mistaken if that little bowl of soup made you full. And remember, that thing will tell you what something is and where it is before you bump it, so if I hear of any cane accedents you'll be hearing from me!"
Ashlle then began to clean up her bed. "Kids today" she said, then chucked, she being only a Second Year herself.
