Ace wearily scratched another grade into the corner of the essays he was rifling through, and then pushed it onto one of the piles that were scattered across the desk he was using.
He had been working in the Staff Room but had been unable to concentrate - unlike the others, he was unused to having to focus on something so dull for such an extended period of time, and had almost slipped into a doze by the fire, nearly setting light to half his student's papers. Making a wise decision, he left for the library, where students were still working and whispering around him, keeping him awake.
With a barely audible sigh, he reached across to the largest of the piles and pulled a wad of paper from it, and began to read through yet another essay.

Kiki had left the Ministry for the night and decided to see whether or not she could find her favourite Vampire and discover exactly how much he adored teaching. She stuck her head into the Staff Room, but Amy had told her he'd disappeared. Kiki thanked her and wondered which would be the most likely place he would be. The library seemed the next place so she followed the hallways around to the library.
Pushing open the door she glanced around in the dim light and sure enough, after a few tables of quietly muttering students, there he was. She wove her way around the tables silently and when she had reached Acerbus, she peeped carefully over his shoulder to make sure his quill was off the page so that he wouldn't blot the parchment, and then slipped her hand over his eyes.
"Guess who?" She asked playfully.

As Kiki's hands covered Ace's eyes, he grinned, his fanged smile all that could now be seen of his face other than his mess of blonde hair. He had smelt her coming, but hadn't wanted to give her away - he had been a teacher for a while now, and yet hadn't managed to speak to anyone about it, and was overjoyed by her company.
"Well, let's see... there's only one person in this castle who is both not afraid of me and stupid enough to cover a Vampire's eyes when he can smell her a mile off." Ace laughed, and lifted Kiki's hands with his own. "Heya, Ki."
He turned in his chair to survey the Ministeress, noting with pleasure that she was in a good mood, unlike the tender melancholy that seemed to infest them both whenever they were close. His green eyes twinkled playfully at her. "What are you doing here? They don't have enough crisis at the Ministry anymore?"

"I figured they could survive without me for the night." Kiki smiled. "Then again, if I get back and the building is in ruins because it's been attacked by Merlin knows what, I suppose I'm the one who's going to take the rap over the knuckles." She grasped the back of the chair next to Ace and pulled it over to her, sitting in front of him.
"I decided it could be more exciting listening to you ramble about teaching." She teased. Kiki leaned back in her chair a little and crossed her leg over the other. Her violet eyes sparkling in the shadowed light, she raised an eyebrow and said:
"So hit me with it."

Ace grinned, his fangs glinting in the overhead light of the library. "Where do I begin?" he said, casting his mind back over the past week or so teaching the students Potions.
"Well, to begin with I think they like me. The students, I mean. Half of them were disappointed to discover I wasn't a three-headed hag... or was it four... but anyway, no, I think they appreciate having someone I bit different teaching them. They like the lessons too - so far I've made sure I'm making it fun for them, actually letting them try the potion as well as make them, and, well... I don't know. I think it's going well. Marking is dull though. Supremely dull. I almost died marking this lot."
He indicated the pile of papers and gave them an evil look, as though they were some particularly worthy opponent. "But apart from that, I love it. How have things been with you lately, Miss Ki? Alright?"
