ooc: Sorry, invite only.
Soft footsteps echoed through the corridor that led to the school's library. A few seconds later, Artemis stepped through the large doorway that led to the book filled room. For a few minutes, she prowled along the rows and rows of ancient and modern texts, searching for one that she wanted to read. It was nice to only think about what had happened years ago, rather than tink upon what could happen tommorow.
After looking at several rows of books, the Slytherin girl found an old Charms book and found a plush, comfortable chair to read in. She sank into the overstuffed chair and blew the dust off the cover. When she had stopped coughing, she opened the book to the first page and easily blocked all of her other thoughts out.

There was that restless feeling again. The one that she had managed to shake, at least for a little while, when she had first made up her mind to let go of her obligations and her reponsibilities, and finally leave the school behind. In light of that decision, she'd been able to stave off her discontent, but now that same restless feeling was back with a vengeance, an unexplained itch that simply refused to go away.
It was that feeling that finally made her get up and abandon her seat in the Slytherin common room, setting down a still-open book carelessly on the chair as she hurriedly wove her way through the people to the stone statue that guarded the exit. She made her way quickly through the undressed stone hallways with a vague idea of going to the lake , just for the walk, despite the fact that it was a rather dismal and colourless day outside.
On the way up from the dungeon that served as the Slytherin common room, however, she passed by the Library, and noted that the usually closed doors had been left partially ajar. Stepping into the well lit room, though she didn't really plan on staying, she scanned it briefly. When her eyes fell upon Artemis, the other girl seated in a chair on the other side of the room with her nose in a book, she changed her loose plans for the afternoon, instead stepping all the way inside the library and crossing the room to take a chair near the one Artemis had settled herself in, greeting her friend with a simple, "Hi there, Art."

Artemis' head shot up at the unexpected voice, but soon relaxed at the familiar face. "Hiya Kalyn." She'd seen her friend around lately, but hadn't really spoken to her that much. Her eyes darted out and scanned the page number, and she repeated it several times in her mid before closing the book partway.
"How've you been doing lately?"

It hadn’t taken Kimmy long to decide to wander around the school, trying to find where she was supposed to go to find out which house she was in. A few people she met had given her vague instructions, while others had simply given her a disgusted look and carried on walking. Shrugging off the latter few, the red-headed girl kept on smiling as she travelled through the many corridors, laughing to herself as staircases altered their direction and left Kim heading in a different direction to the one she had intended.
The newcomer passed classroom after classroom, staircase after staircase, student after student, the main colour of their uniforms being one of four, red, blue, yellow or green. The ones wearing green didn’t even seem to notice her, whilst the majority of others gave her at least a friendly smile.
Though one room stood out amongst all of the others, one room filled with many books with different coloured binds, some thick, some thin, some new, some tattered; all of them amazing in their own special way.
Taking a few tentative steps into the room, Kimmy reached the first shelf lined with books, and reached out a finger, trailing it down the spine and feeling the familiar texture of books that she loved beyond anything else. The smile that remained constantly on her face grew slightly. At least there was something familiar here, even if the words inside were written in a foreign language that the red-headed girl was yet to understand.
Continuing to make her way along the bookshelf, a dreamy expression came to her light brown eyes, wondering how many times she would make a visit to this room, wondering how many evenings she would spend reading through a novel, or trying to get ahead for classes. However, her daydream was broken in to by the sounds of voices from elsewhere in the Library, for she assumed a room with this many books could only be classed as a Library, and a sudden startled expression came to her face. How could she have allowed such a thing to happen? Intrude when someone else was there midway through a conversation?
It wasn’t until Kimmy looked around that she noticed the two engaged in conversation were seated at the end of the aisle she had found herself in. Quickly, her cheeks turned the same colour as her hair, and her eyes widened in an apologetic manner. “Oh – I’m sorry,” she began, her voice conveying the same emotion as her eyes. “I didn’t think anyone was here,” Kimmy explained, taking a few steps backwards. “I’m really sorry! I’ll go… and… find what it was I was finding…”

After a few moments, Artemis' gaze had wandered to the nearby rows of books. She could hardly comprehend the vast amounts of books in that one single place. Even though she loved to read and had read way more than the average person should within six years of being at school, she doubted that she read even a small fraction of the books here.
Just as her eyes began wandering the spines, Artemis heard someone's footsteps among the towers of books. The quiet thumps came closer until a shy looking red headed girl came into view. The girl didn't seem to notice them for a second, then when she did, she stuttered an embarassed sentence or two. Artemis smiled at the younger girl, trying to be friendly.
"Don't worry about it. Why don't you sit down?" Artemis gestured toward a chair near to her own. "I don't think we've met before. I'm Artemis, Slytherin house."

"Oh, well enough, I suppose," Hikalyn answered Artemis lightly. She hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should perhaps say something about her decision to leave the school. It seemed only right that she did, but then, she had no desire to cause a fuss... It was to be presumed anyway, she figured; after all, this was her graduating year. But then, it was one thing to simply graduate, she reminded herself. Taking off to Rome was probably quite another in the eyes of most of the world.
She was spared further deliberation by the entrance of a timid looking girl who shuffled towards them, seeming more than a little uncertain. New, the raven-haired girl presuemd. Kalyn's own response was almost identical to Art's. "Not to worry," she assured, waving one hand in a negligent gesture. "My name's Hikalyn," she introduced herself afte Art had finished, "also of Slytherin. And you're...?"
OOC: Hah. Sorry. -.-

The two girls in front of her wore the same green uniform as those who had looked at her with distaste in the corridor, and yet, they seemed somewhat different. The apology which Kimmy had intended to continue died on her lips at the request that she should sit awhile with them. Two older students asking her to sit with them? Kim didn't know whether to be excited, nervous or normal.
"Thank you very much. I don't want to be an inconvenience, but if you insist..." Shyly, the red-headed girl took a few steps forward, a smile lightifng up her face as she lowered herself into one of the squishy, comfortable chairs which were pulled into a circle shape near a large window. Listening as they introduced themselves, Kimmy nodded. "My name's Kimmy... I was just on my way to try and find where I needed to go to be sorted into a house, but I got kind of lost," she smiled sheepishly, fiddling with the button on her jacket.
Realising that the two could be offended by this, her light brown eyes opened wide. "N-Not that it-it was a bad thing, of course! It was a good type of getting lost. I got to meet some more people." Nodding furiously, and hoping that her words had saved her from more distasteful looks or from being ignored by yet more of those people. After all, words could have a bigger impact on some people than actions could.
Deciding to bring this observation into the open, Kimmy's head tilted to one side. "You both seem different to some of the other people in your house..."
