Nudging the doors to the library open, a weary looking girl ducked inside, carrying a stack that was several textbooks high balanced carefully in her arms. Choosing a seat at a table near one of the huge stained glass windows, she gratefully dumped her burden onto the wooden surface. Black locks tumbled about her shoulders, framing a face that bore a rather reluctant expression.
She glanced out the window and shook her head; it really was too nice a day to be inside. But if she heading outside, she'd probably never be able to concentrate. And she had a lot to catch up on. With a resigned sigh, she pulled the top textbook--it happened to be Potions--off the stack and flipped it open, then dug out a quill and some blank parchment from within the stack.
She rubbed her fingers lightly against her temples in an attempt to get rid of the headache that had been following her around for the last little while, then shook her head and set to work. Soon, the sound of quill scractching against parchment filled the library, the instances when she stopped to dip her quill back into the bottle of ink providing short, irregular breaks in the noise.

ooc: Thankies Kalyn
bic: Chantelle was walking through the corridors of the school almost in a daydream when she heard a door swing shut loudly back into its frame. Curiousity got the better of her and she began to follow the sound. Maybe it was to help her think of something else other than the amulet for a few minutes. Channy had been meaning to talk to Dark about it, but his presence seemed to be non-existant in the commons compared to what it was like before.
After a few seconds though, the small Ravenclaw had forgotten about the door slamming and had gone back to wondering about the amulet. It couldn't just be coincidence that the day, almost the moment, she picked it up in the Entrance Hall, she began to feel ill and had done since.
Unknowingly, Chantelle came upon the library and opened its doors. Strength seemed to fail her for a moment as weakness took over, but she shook the feeling away quickly and pushed open the heavy door.
Stepping inside, a small smile appeared on her face. This was where she liked to be. Alone with a story. But as she looked towards the fiction section, a girl caught her eye. The girl she had been looking for for a few days.
"Hikalyn!" she whispered to herself, perhaps a little too loudly. The Slytherin Prefect looked to be in deep concentration with the work in front of her. But she needed to know. Stepping timidly forward to where Hikalyn was sitting, Chantelle said: "Hello." One simple word. The last thing she wanted to do was interrupt the girl and make her mad.

Deeply engrossed in the work laid out in front of her, Hikalyn heard someone say 'hello' as if from far off, not really registering that that person might be talking to her, despite the fact that she had been the only person in the library when she had entered it earlier. She raised her gaze from the paper in front of her to stare thoughtfully across the reaches of the library, and couldn't supress a small jump when she realized there was someone standing in front of her. "Oh, hi, Chantelle," she replied once she had collected herself, her expression a bit abashed. "Sorry, I was just kind of off in my own world...
"So, what's up?" She gazed up at the small girl, offering her a warm smile. She always seemed so timid, and she looked rather preoccupied at the moment.

Chantelle jumped herself when Hikalyn realised she was there. "Oh... I... I'm sorry," she stammered, her cheeks turning slightly pink.
"I didn't m...mean to scare you," Channy carried on, not taking her gaze away from the girl sitting behind her work. "Can I ask you something?" the small girl's tone could have been classed as reluctant - almost as though she didn't want to ask the question, but she knew it had to be done.

"Oh, that's all right," Hikalyn assured her, brushing way her apology and pushing her books away. She studied the other girl for a moment, the slightest of concerned frowns settling over her features. Unless she was much mistaken, there was more to this than just Chantelle's considerable timidity...
"Of course," she answered the Ravenclaw's question almost abruptly, giving herself a mental shake to jar loose from her thoughts. "What's the matter?"
