"They might," Hikalyn agreed after a moment's pause. "I'm sure they'll be grateful to know what it does, at any rate." Hopefully nobody else had found out the hard way what it did. Good God, her head was spinning.
Just so long as Chantelle's magical malady didn't turn out to be catching. Wouldn't that be all they needed.
"Well," she said abruptly, "I think I'm going to bed. You probably should, too." She wasn't really done her rounds yet, but it wouldn't kill her to skive off her Prefect duties for one night. Though she'd been more or less awake only moments before, her lids suddenly felt weighted. She was having trouble keeping them from sliding shut, and covered her mouth to hide a yawn that actually cracked her jaw.
"Unless there's anything else...?" she asked suddenly, without really being sure why. Not really expecting there to be, she kicked aimlessly at the stone floor with a toe.

Chantelle nodded. She should really get to bed, but then she remembered the essay again. Looking at it guiltily, she looked back at the Prefect.
"I should, but this has got to get done," the small girl explained, looking around for the box of matches she had brought with her. Despite the fact she was tired beyond words, she would have to get this done. And then be up at the crack of dawn to go to the ministry.
"No, there's nothing else... it's just... wierd, that's all," she carried on, not really fully aware of what she was saying. Channy just hoped Hikalyn wouldn't make her go back to the common room.

Hikalyn nodded. "Well get it figured out," she murmured with a shrug. "Yeah, all right, see you tomorrow. And don't worry," she added with a small smile, "You're not here, and we never had this conversation." She offered the Ravenclaw a companionable wink and a wave, then turned and made her way out of the library.
"Nox," she muttered to her wand, and the glow petered out. She didn't really need its light; the pale silver of the moon and stars filtering in through the windows was enough. She knew the corridors well enough to make her way even in the dark, and she did so now. Upon finally reaching the common room, she whispered the password, not even watching as the stone gargoyle guardian came alive and moved aside to let her pass, headed down the stairs in something that could amost be termed as a daze, and fell asleep just as soon as she rested her head on the pillow.
