Wilting Rose swept into the Head's Tower and locked the door behind her. Turning around, she faced the room. Carmen was sitting nervously in a seat by Rose's desk, and Kiki was standing just behind it. Rose nodded at Kiki, and then crossed the room and settled into her desk chair.
"Right then."
Rose peered into Carmen's face, which seemed as troubled as her own. "Do you want to tell me what happened, Carmen?"

(OOc: Well, since Rose is asking Carmen to talk, I'm guessing she was healed? Because Carmen's voicebox was 'broken')
How could she have done it? Not even the amazing trinkets that surrounded the three in the room were enough to distract and intregue the blue-haired girl. There were so many people that Carmen had betrayed by uttering those two spells. Her step-mother and father. What would they say? Of course, they wouldn't know the full extent of what happened, so everyone in the school would feel it more than them.
Everyone in the school. So many people. A sinking feeling was felt in her gut. They would all know by the time she would wake up the next morning. They would all know what had happened in the common room with the demoness. And what happened to her? The poor being that had suffered at the gross hand of Carmen's wand? They probably sent her back to the forest with a smack on the wrist.
"Right then." It caught her attention quickly, and her head snapped to face the Headmistress almost quickly enough to make it hurt for a while. "Do you want to tell me what happened, Carmen?" The first response that came to mind was 'no'. But of course, Rose wasn't asking Carmen if she wanted to or not. She was asking the girl to repeat what happened.
A deep shaky breath in, and just as shaky out. "I was in my dorm... then the demoness came, and stabbed Forgoil with a hot poker through the gut... so I came down and controlled the Demoness to get her to heal him... it worked... but she broke out of it... and began attacking everyone else... and me... before she escaped the spell... I had her melt the poker... and when she did break out of it..."
The girl paused, not wanting to say what happened that drove Carmen's anger. "She used the melted iron on her hands as a choker for me... and I couldn't talk... so I concentrated hard on thinking the crucio... the hurting spell... because she was about to attack another... and it worked... Roan tried to say a few things to stop me... and a new girl shot a spell at me to stop..."
Looking down at her feet, it was a sign that she had finished what happened. "Then you came..." She hadn't needed to explain what happened to Lottie and Wyl, because obviously they had gone to find the Ministry officials and the Headmistress. She was shaking all over now, and was flinching at every sound that was made. Expecting a beating along with expulshion was the cause.
(OOC: Sorry it's a bad post... life happened and smacked me in the face)

"I see."
Rose's tone was neither sharp nor comforting. She merely looked thoughtful as she turned to look out the window, where a black night was unfolding upon them. Rose shivered a little. "Are you cold?"
Without waiting for a response, Rose walked over to the fireplace and pointed her wand to it, creating some beautiful dancing purple flames that warmed up the room surprisingly quickly. Rose returned to sit before Carmen, her expression severe.
"Carmen... I understand why you did what you did. You were trying to save your friends as well as yourself. The way I see it is, you panicked, thinking she was too strong, and so you used the most powerful spells you know to try and stop her." Rose paused, and sighed. This was all such a big mess. "But... the Ministry might not be so understanding. You know that the use of any one of the Unforgiveable curses is enough to give you a life sentence in Azkaban - that doesn't change simply because you are young, or held within the protection of the school."
Rose broke off, trying not to let her frustration get the better of her. "There is a way we can counter-act this, a way for you to avoid standing trial. If I submit myself for inspection instead, suggesting that this was all a security breach on my part, hopefully the Ministry will forget all about you. They've been wanting a reason to inspect every nook and cranny of my school for months... they'll be so pleased." Rose gave a dry laugh.
"But you must understand that what you did is wrong. No matter what the circumstance. There are hundreds, thousands of other effective duelling spells you could have used. I am, I must confess, highly disappointed in you. Especially after I'd just given you a promotion, too."
Rose leaned over her desk and picked up something, and held it out to Carmen. In the palm of Rose's hand was a gleaming Prefect's badge.

She was so disappointed in her. And she had every right to be. How stupid could someone get? Everyone would be the same. They were in the common room, why should anyone be different? Why would they? No one would ever forgive her for what she had done. Even Rose probably wouldn't. Perhaps she would let the Ministry take Carmen off. Oh gods... What did Kiki think?
Rose spoke, and laughed a little, then showed Carmen something in the palm of her hand. It was shiny and black and yellow in colour, sporting the words "Hufflepuff Prefect" on it. She happened to be so shocked that her mouth literally dropped open. "Wilting Rose... I... I can't take it... I don't deserve it..." It was true in her own eyes. What had she done to be given prefectship?
"I don't understand... Headmistress... why?" She stared with wide eyes that began to pool with salty tears. Where could she go from there?

Kiki gave Rose a small smile and fixed her eyes on Carmen to try and figure out what the girl had been through and why she'd chosen to use the curses she had. Listening to Carmen's story, Kiki wondered why the Demoness had flown right into the window of the castle and attacked the students. The Hufflepuffs were hardly the most dangerous students in the school - the ones Kiki remembered were all sensible and incredibly close-knit.
Kiki had no intention of firing Carmen from her job as assistant to the Ministeress. She'd come to enjoy the blue-haired Australian at the Ministry and they'd become fairly decent friends. Kiki herself didn't know what she would've done if she'd been attacked by a demoness, never been put in a position to do so. But then, Kiki's knowledge of spells went a little deeper than Carmen's and the simple fact that the girl had that much hatred in her for the spell to work was a little astonishing.
When Rose revealed the Prefect's badge in her palm, Kiki realised that the air was still much too heavy and Carm was in a state of shock.
"You don't have to accept the position if you don't want it," Kiki murmured softly. "But there are definately aspects of you that have the potential to make you an excellent prefect."
