For the many days following the events concerning Rose in the forest, Hayzie had been wondering around the school, trying to catch sight of the brown-haired ex-headmistress, mostly to see if she was okay. The curse the panther-type creature had put on her didn’t sound to be good, and the sightings of the shy Ravenclaw seemed to be rarer and rarer by the day. The Gryffindor Prefect could only assume that either Claire was taking care of her, or that Rose withdrew herself to the Ravenclaw common room after classes each day. But Hayzie couldn't help but be worried.
Either way, the situation surrounding the events, and the way in which many events seemed to transpire in recent weeks piqued the curiosity of the Gryffindor, and that led her to go and see the Headmistress to see what she could do to help, if there was anything.
One idea had struck the mind of the Lycan girl, but she wasn’t sure what Claire would make of it. She might just think it was stupid, or too dangerous and send her back to her studies. However this blonde girl was one who seemed to fear little in the face of danger, at least until the last minute where she had to get someone to help her out. But the idea she had was why she was currently standing outside the Head’s Tower, looking slightly anxiously at the large door which separated the slight blonde girl from Claire’s study, from what she could gather was the study anyway.
Taking one more deep breath, Hayzie considered turning back. Maybe it was a stupid idea to even suggest it, but she felt it might help. Even if only a little. Then, suddenly, without the Prefect even realising it, her arm had stretched out, and her hand had knocked on the door. Now all she could do was wait for an answer, and see what would happen.

Claire's head rose from the book she was reading as she heard the knock on the door. She was busy reading up about what could have come into the school and cause the things that had happened.
She opened the door to find Hayzie, the Gryffindor prefect. A slight look of shock flashed her face. "Hayzie. What are you doing here?" she asked, before remembering herself. "Sorry, I mean, come in."
Claire stepped out of the way to let the girl enter.
"Take a seat," she said, motioning to the chairs placed by the fire that so many people had recently sat in.

Hayzie had considered simply running. Knock and run wasn't something she liked to do, but thinking over her idea, the blonde couldn't help but think it was stupid. Just as she was about to turn however, the door opened, revealing a shocked-looking headmistress.
Smiling slightly, Hayz nodded and walked into the room and sat on one of the chairs that Claire had gestured towards, trying to think of how to put across the reason why she was there, in order to answer Claire's question.
"It's okay... I haven't been sent up here because I'm in trouble, Professor," she smiled slightly, her green eyes meeting Claire's momentarily. "I was.... I guess I was just wondering how Rose is. I haven't seen her around since what... what happened in the forest..." At least this would set the background for her arguement. The conversation she had had with Devani kept replaying in her mind, too. That may have to be brought into play somehow during the meeting.

Claire sat opposite the girl and smiled at the thought of Hayzie being sent up here for being in trouble. "Rose is fine, that I know of!" Claire said. "I don't get to see her much anymore as she has settled in rather well with her house members and has made other friends too! It's good to see her getting along so well." A slight sadness lay within her voice but she hoped that the student would not notice.
"We managed to sort the curse laid upon her in the Forest - it just needed a simple reversal," Claire remembered. "Thankyou for your help down there, by the way. I know that you were trying to get Rose away from those who had found her."
"She should be around the school somewhere! Unless she has disappeared along with her memory!" Claire jested, before realising what she had said and feeling her heart ache inside her chest.
"I'm sorry, Hayzie, that wasn't funny," Claire apologised.

At least Rose was okay. The last thing the brunette Ravenclaw would need at that moment was constant anxiety, and at least she had a lot of people to look out for her. Hopefully all this would be over soon... hopefully.
"It's not a problem," Hayzie answered as she was thanked for trying to help Rose, but Claire's next statement seemed to upset the Headmistress a lot, which was completely understandable. "Don't say sorry. Everyone says things without thinking sometimes," she smiled slightly.
The blonde gave a small sigh, knowing that it would be best to get the purpose of her coming to the tower out as soon as possible. "Professor, I want to help find out who did this to Rose."

Claire looked up from her lap at hayzie's last statement and pulled a shallow smile. "Don't we all?" she said sarcastically.
Claire stood and walked over to the desk where she had been working. She placed her hand on a stack of books that nearly reached her shoulder as she stood. "I have searched all of these, I have spoken to many experts in dark and evil magic, but no one knows who this thing could be."
Claire moved over to a small trolley of drinks. "Would you like one?" she asked as she poured herself a Fire Water. She had had many of these in the past few weeks.

Hayzie shook her head. "I don't think the answers are going to be in books," she told Claire. "But... I do know someone... or rather something... that I think does know the answer."
Shaking her head at the offer of a drink, she continued. "I was... at the gamekeepers cabin the other night, and that same black cat came to the door. We had a conversation, and I think that she may have a lot of information."

Sharply raising her head, Claire met the girl's eyes.
"Someone has information?" she asked. "Who? What did they say?"
Quickly picking up her drink, strightening her back and downing it in one gulp, Claire walked back to the fireside chair.
"Do they trust you? Can you get more information?" Claire kept questioning, desperate for one morcel of anything that could possibly be useful.

Hayzie nodded once, though she was unsure as to why. "I think I'm still working on the trust aspect. But Devani, the cat... I'm sure she knows more than she's letting on. And word on the wind is that she has some... friends..." the Prefect stopped for a few seconds here.
"But I have an idea. Ad...I got taught the invisibility charm once... and if needbe, I could spy on Devani, and find out what's going on. Like I said, I don't know a whole lot yet, but even if something goes wrong, I'm allowed in the forest at the moment anyway, I think. And the Lycans there I can hide from," Hayz added, unsure of how much the headmistress knew of her time in the forest.
"But I think I can help..."

Claire clung on tot he tiny slither of hope that Hayzie was giving her. "Please, anything you can find out, or do - it would be very much appreciated."
"But only if it means that you do not put yourself in any unnecessary danger. I don't want more people without memories!" she added.
"If you want to do as you just said, I would appreciate it, but only if you want to."
"We do need something to go on though..." Claire commented.

Hayzie couldn't help but laugh slightly at this. "Professor, I seem to put myself in unnecessary danger every day. This will be a piece of cake," she smiled, the familiar twinkle coming back behind her green eyes.
Nodding again, she continued. "I do want to do this. There's something strange going on, and I can't just sit back and watch whatever it is happen. And as soon as I find something out, I'll come back and let you know," she assured the Headmistress, hoping that she wouldn't change her mind any time soon.
Admittedly, Hayz was only a student, but she knew her stuff, and had been spying on the Lycans under the invisibility spell for a long time before Ash caught her.

Claire felt relief as the thought of finally knowing something was becoming possible.
"Thankyou for offering to do this," Claire said sincerely, "I have tried to find anyone who knows anything, but have not come up with anything. This, if it works, will be great!"
Claire had a thought. "You shouldn't just come and see me though - we should meet elsewhere. I can change form when I see you so that it deons't look like you are dealing with me, just incase anyone should know what you are doing."
"I think it would be safer if you get a note to me telling me where to meet you and I will be there."

"If this works..." Why was there always that uncertainty? Why couldn't things be set in stone?
These thoughts made Hayzie shake her head. This wasn't like when she made the polyjuice potion. This was different. The blonde Prefect had used this spell so many times she knew the words without thinking. Keeping the spell up took a lot of energy, but she couldn't just give up like this.
Listening in closely on Claire's last words, Hayzie nodded. It would be safer that was. Especially if she had to go to the last resort...
"Yes, that would be safer," Hayz repeated, suddenly sounding, and looking, as though she was in a daze.

"Hayzie, are you sure you want to do this?" Claire asked, her conscience kicking in for a moment. "If you get found out then I cannot imagine what could happen to you, and I don't want to lose another to this thing..."
"I just want you to be sure, and know that you have the option of stopping whenever you feel that you should, or want to." Claire said, making sure that this girl knew she wasn't under pressure from the Headmistress, though Claire desperately needed some, any, information.

Hayzie gave a reassuring, but faint smile to Claire, suddenly feeling a little sick. She had had the same feeling before going into the forest pretending to be Chailyn under the polyjuice potion, but it would all be fine.
"Professor, I'm positive I want to do this. I promise I'll be fine."
Even though she was saying this, the blonde girl was unsure if it was a promise she would be able to keep.
"I'll start first thing tomorrow morning. I'm sure Devani won't be all too difficult to find, right?"
