Merry Divine was much merrier than usual today. It was almost Christmas and she was planning a fun class in honor of the season. It was snowing outside and inside Merry was decorating the class with Garlands of sliver and gold. On the board was the pronunciation of the spell: SKIN-till-air ef-FUN-deh-ree For more details, look in your charms book, Chapter 4. -but that was all. Merry hummed happily. Wouldn't the students be surprised at what they produced? Merry had shown them the spell at the end of last class. Would any of them remember? Would any of them not be surprised when a shower of multi-colored Streamers and sparkles flew out of their wands? Merry remembered when she was shown this spell, her teacher had told her hers was the most cheerful and colorful display she'd ever seen? How many Little sunshiny Merry Divine's might I have in this class she wondered. I guess I'll find out today.

Persephone had woken up early for charms class today. Instead of feeling gloomy, the small Ravenclaw seemed to be bubbling with energy and happiness. The deep emerald of her eyes was filled with the light of laughter and warmth of happiness. It was amazing what the snow could do to her.
She walked happily down the hallways. Her silver blonde hair was pulled back into a french braid today. It was still long though, and the tips of it ended an inch above her waist. A few stubborn locks of hair curled around her face, and around the base of the braid.
When she entered the room, she cocked her head to one side. She read what was written on the board, her eyes tracing each letter. There wasn't much for instruction, but she was in too good of a mood to let that bring her down. All and all she felt like she could take on the world.
"Morning Professor!" She said happily and headed towards a seat.
So she sat down, her bag sinking to the floor beside her. She pulled out her text book and opened to lesson four. Her eyes scimmed the page. She remembered Professor Merry Divine saying something about this last time, but she'd been zoning out at the end of the class.
She read the section again, and pulled out her wand. Best to give it a go now when there weren't that many people in the class to watch what happened.
"SKIN-till-air ef-FUN-deh-ree." She said the words crisply and cheerfully. For a moment nothing happened, and then she repeated them. This time she stressed the words harder, and was rewarded for her prounounciation.
The small Prefect watched as a rainbow of sparkles and streamers flew from the end of her wand. Most of the sparkles were red, Sephe's favorite color, but the streamers were every color Persephone could ever think of. She smiled and giggled, and preformed the spell again pleased with the result.

Aether was a little nervous as he walked into the classroom. This was his first class in Magic Horizon and he wanted to make a good impression. As he sat down he toke a chance and glanced at the blackboard reading it's contents. He smiled softly knowing the spell but never cast it himself. It was his 11 birthday the last time he saw it, one of his friends mother used the spell to entertain the kids. He remember the sparks and the streamers with a smile.
"Hello Professor." he said to her with a smile and a nod of greeting. He then looked over at the ravenclaw student and saw her perform the spell failing the first attempt but the second resulted in Sparks and Streamers and the such with some amazing colors. "Wow that was very good." He admitted to the Prefect, whom he realized she was after a second glance at her badge "My name is Aether." he said with a smile siting at the table next to hers.
Aether withdrew his wand from his robe pocket and looked at the pronunciation on the board. The women at his party had said something about the spell which he began to search his memory for now.
"This spell works best when your happy, thats why it is used at parties, what better place to show how happy you are..." the women had said to the small group of 11 year olds with a little laugh as she preformed it again.
He began to think of happy thoughts running back threw his memories looking for one that made him feel truly happy. Among them where Christmas days, his birthdays, The first day he attended his first magical school, the day his little sister was born and he became a big brother, the first day his father said he was proud of him. He lifted his wand to the ceiling after reading the side note in the text book to never aim it at a person.
"Scintillare Effundere" He yelled out letting all those happy and ecstatic memories flood his mind as he stressed the pronunciation he had read on the board 'SKIN-till-air ef-FUN-deh-ree'.
As he said the words only a bright burst of light appeared. He was determined to do well he could not bare the embarrassment of failing this simple assignment. He pointed it back up thinking of all those memories stopping on his father telling him that he was so proud of him. "Scintillare Effudere!" He yelled out pronunciation it again the same as before but with heart feeling this time. From his wand shot out bright multicolored sparks red, green, blue, gold, silver, purple, and any other color of the rainbow and beyond. The streamers flew high falling to drape over his table as the spell ended. The colors fading as they drifted down past him to land harmlessly and fade away.
"Wow." He said softly looking as the colors first appeared and watching them till they faded away out of sight. He looked at the professor for approval a little shy now that the spell was done.

Krista strode itno the classroom and took a table by herself, being the only Slytherin in the room so far. She looked up at the blackboard and groaned, an easy spell today. She placed her book on the table and reached for her wand, which was deep in her robes' pocket.
"Hello Professor," she muttered as she copied down the spell onto a sheet of parchement. She spun her wand in her hand, waiting for someone to talk to.

Merry smiled, getting down from the foot stool she was standing on as the first students came in.
"Welcome welcome!" she said cheerily. "I hope you've brought your happy faces today. They'll be needed for this spell." She went to her desk and watched as the first two students preformed the spell.
"Ahh, excellent, very nice indeed Miss Persephone. I can see you have a penchant for red, interesting. And Mr. Animus, very nice - try to relax a bit more, that's a dear. No one will bite you in this class. Oh what a lovely display! I can see you've see this done before, haven't you?"
After Merry praised them she turned to the first Slytherin in the class. "Hello Miss Krista, you don't look very happy today, is something the matter dear?" Merry went over to her desk and smiled sympathetically. "If you tell me what's bothering you I'm sure we could find a solution."

Post by Teagan on Dec 10, 2005 23:09:17 GMT
It was snowing outside. Ever since Ravenclaw's match against Gryffindor, it hadn't stopped. Teagan had to change her position mid-game to seeker, and had been the one to catch the snitch. Ever since, it had been snowing. It was an enticement to her victory, and a final finish to there match; it had actually lasted quite a long time and into the night. Now, the ground was more than laced in the white powder; it was now formed over the ground like thick icing, and no longer letting any grass escape.
Really, it is beautiful, finally decided Teagan after a few minutes of gazing at the frozen wonder. Hardly ever did the Prefect say such a thing. Nor did she think it often. Snow, to her, was a lovely intoxication of ameliorate for the land. In cities, muddy roads and cars tainted its pureness and roughed it into distasteful shame. Here, they were free from cars and such commotion and locomotion. Here, freedom was actually theirs.
Pulling her fiery gaze from the chilled window, the Ravenclaw continued her trip to class. So far, she had been careful enough to not be late to her next class, charms. She really didn't like that thought, and quickly entered the room. Lengthy strands of her lush, red hair flowed into their smooth locks, but continued to keep their individuality. A few of her some-what uncooperative bangs trailed along her face and fell near her eyes. Recently, she was unable to get them to do much of what she pleased. At least, they didn't hinder her with school. She came here to learn, after all.
Glancing at the chalkboard, Teagan noticed pronunciation of a spell, but the only other things written in the chalk were, "For more details, look in your charms book, Chapter 4." Of course, she was curious about the charm, but she'd look it up in the textbook before preforming it; there were some pretty interesting charms at there that tended to do several different things.
Seeing Persephone, the girl who had recently joined Teagan in prefect duties, she walked over and sat in the desk behind her friend; recently, she had seen other students sending streamers out of the tips of their wands, and that was presumably what the spell did. She didn't want to be in front of someone who was preforming a spell like that.
Brushing some of the red locks out of her face, she ignored most of the students around her and opened her book. As she turned the pages, there was little crinkle due to the fact that the book was pretty new. Her vision slid through the words that blackened the page. This charm was titled the Sparkle Shower Charm; Teagan was wary of sparkles. Anything involving sparkles also involved trouble that she didn't want to deal with. Distastefully, she also learned that you needed to know happy thoughts; something else the prefect cared little about.
A small sigh escaped her soft lips. What use would be a sparkly charm be in real life? How could such a spell aid you in need? If you were in a dangerous situation, then this charm wouldn't be too helpful in startling your enemy because you had to be happy for it to work better. When you could get a serious injury, die, or be missing a few limbs, you are generally not in much of a pleasant mood. Personally, Teagan thought this charm was a waste of time, but she was going to try to use it, anyway.
Now, she needed some joyful thoughts. The most relieving time she'd recently had was when she was finally able to end their quidditch match. She hadn't been happy, but she was gratefully that it was over and they could finally go inside. Manipulating the weak feelings in her mind, she made herself feel relaxed and a gentle smile eased itself onto her face. "Scintillare Effundere," came her voice in preciseness. Then, Red, gray, black, white, pale blue, and a few violet ribbons left her wand with a some un-plentiful bits of glitter. Still, there was no where near as much as some of the other students had caused, nor was it nearly as beautiful.
Sephe's creation was lovely. Even full of more colors than their recently re-decorated common room, and that had caused many disturbances. Each color from Sephe's spell was analogous with another, and was swept into a flowing rainbow. A dazzling perfection of magical sparkles rained over it all, as well.

"No Ma'am but I have seen it before at my eleventh birthday party." He said explaining himself to her "I am sorry this is my first class at Magic Horizon so I guess I am a bit jittery." He said with a soft smile "Was the display good though I go a little nervous when the first one didn't work." he blushed laying his wand down as he spoke. He was thinking of performing the spell again to try and perfect the spell but he wanted the teachers input first.

"No, I'm perfectly fine Professor," she muttered, looking away. 'Other than the fact I just realized I ought to have skipped this lesson after all.'
"I'm just a bit tired, is all," she lied through her teeth. She brought her wand up, refraining herself from cursing her professor, and began to practice the new spell, hoping he would walk away.

Post by Galanor Rosewind on Dec 11, 2005 22:19:10 GMT
Galanor walked slowly into the classroom and took a seat nearest to the stone wall, away from the few people that were there already. Sighing, she looked at the board, noticing the spell. Ah, I've seen that before.. She thought, smiling slightly to herself. It... looked easy enough. She drew her cypruss and dragon heartstring wand from her robes and concentrated on something, remembering from.. somewhere.. that the spell worked best whilst concentrating on something happy-she'd long since found the thought-and raied the tip away from herself, toward the cieling.
"Err... Skintilaire effundery." She muttered. Nothing. Frowning, she concentrated a bit more on the image that she had.. and tried once more.
Skintilaire effundery! She said, actually audibly, willing the magic to work. A slight fizzle and silver flash was all that came for about a second, and then a deep, blood red glow filled the room momentarily, accompanied by brighter red, purple, geen, silver, white, lime, yellow, and orange sparks and thin, tapering black, silver, red, and green streamers that curled through the air like tentacles or tongues of many serpents.
Galanor gave a small, satisfied "Hmm.." And smirked almost unnoticeably. She looked back to the professor, slipping her wand back into her robes' pocket.

Post by Sylph on Dec 12, 2005 13:58:46 GMT
Waking up in a rather cold dorm room up in Gryffindor tower, Sylph's initial instinct was to bury her head under the duvet and not move from her warm, snug bed. That, however, was before she had taken a peek out the window. The world was a blanket of white, glistening softly in the weak winter sunlight. Even now, fluffy white flakes were drifting past the glass, drifting merrily on the stiff breezes. Despite the cold floor, the tall girl swung her bare feet over the side of the bed and grinned. Today - despite what was going on at the school at the moment - would be a good day.
Having dressed and breakfasted, Sylph skipped along to her first class - charms. It was one of Sylph's favorite subjects, and not only because she was good at it; Professor Divine had the habit of making things fun.
And today was no exception. The charms classroom was cheerfully decorated in sparkling colours, and it seemed it would only get shinier during the lesson, for on the board was the spell that the charms teacher had used at the end of the previous class - the one that created all kinds of sparks and glitter and streamers. Sylph knew from previous work how to make sparks in interesting ways; taking out her wand and whispering Avis!, she caused three giant eagles to erupt from her wand. They flew around the room, swooping towards the heads of the students for a brief time, before disappearing into a shower of green and gold sparks which fell towards the floor, disappearing slowly. Sylph smiled. There was no reason why the birds should be eagles, but invariably when she performed it, they always were. Then again, Sylph did have poor control with her spell-casting, and tended always to, well, overdo things. With this new spell, however, over-doing matters would probably be a good thing, well, unless she took someone's eye out.
Green eyes scanned the page in her text book, but the spell seemed easy enough, at least once the pronunciation had been mastered. Taking her wand in hand once more, the violet-haired girl grinned her characteristic grin and rolled up her sleeves. Careful to enunciate the words "Scintillare Effundere" as SKIN-till-air ef-FUN-deh-ree, she flicked her wrist in a purely instinctive gesture so her wand tip pointed upward. As she did so there was a large BOOM! and an explosion of colour surrounded her. Snake-like ribbons in red and gold twisted like spinning tops down slowly towards the floor. Shimmering pieces of green and silver glittered prettily as they wafted through the classroom and purple, yellow and blue paper streamers shot and exploded on impact with the ceiling, following the rest of the conjured kaleidoscopic decorations downward. Sylph watched the display with a happy - albeit somewhat surprised - smile on her face.
Today was a good day.

Persephone finished the spell the second time, and she heard someone say that she'd done well. It was male voice, and she turned to face the boy who'd adressed himself as Aether. He seemed nice enough, and she smiled happily at him.
"Thanks, and not too bad yourself! By the way, I'm Persephone!"
Her bright smile and happiness couldn't be destroyed by anything this morning.
"Thanks Professor," Persephone said replying to her teacher's comment, "My favorite color's red, so I guess it just kinda...popped out!"
She smiled again at the red and other colors that had flown out of her wand. The spell had called for being happy, and she was just about as happy as ever today. Perhaps that was why she'd done so well, and maybe it was because she'd been thinking about the past few days. In her life, Sephe couldn't remember being happier.
Then she turned around to face Teagan. She saw her friend cause a stream of darker colored streamers and sparkles, and a little bit of giltter. She couldn't say that it didn't look pretty though. In her mind, some times the darker the color the deeper and more passionate feeling. Still, judging by the look on Teagan's face, she'd expected something better.
"What's up Teagan?"

Post by Aylen Hawkins on Dec 12, 2005 23:46:10 GMT
BRRRRIIIIIIIIINNNNGG!!! The piercing noise drove through Aylen’s head, shattering the dream he was having. Shame, it hadn’t been bad until the alarm went off. “GAH!” the boy gasped in surprise. The redhead tumbled from the bed to the floor, landing with a dull thud on the hardwood. “Ow!” the Gryffindor muttered, disgruntled. Some idiot’s confounded muggle clock had been left on again. After grumbling for a few moments and flinging a pillow at the offending object, Aylen disentangled himself from his bed sheets and went to retrieve the fallen time keeping device. His green eyes widened as he read the time, checking twice to make sure he hadn’t misread it. “I can’t believe it!” his frustrated yell echoed throughout the empty Gryffindor tower. Aylen Hawkins had overslept; again. He wasn’t going to hear the end of this one, that was for sure. Bursting through the portrait hole—leaving the fat lady in distress—the redhead pounded down the stairs, hoping to perhaps grab a bit of toast before rushing to his class.
The door to the classroom slammed open, revealing a rather disheveled looking student. His cheeks were flushed as if he had just run the entire length of the school (which he had). “Hey, professor!” Aylen said grinning and straightening his clothes, hoping that the infamous Hawkins’ charm wouldn’t fail him now. Unfortunately, the infamous Hawkins’ clumsiness never seemed to fail either, and as soon as he stepped forward, his foot caught on the edge of his robe, sending him sprawling. Jumping up as if nothing had happened, he smiled sheepishly at the rest of the class. “Now, we’re all going to pretend we didn’t see that, shall we?” he stated before beating a hasty retreat to a seat next to his fellow Gryffindor.
“Hey, Sylph, did I miss anything?” he whispered to the violet haired girl.

"Hmmmm?" replied the girl Aylen addressed as he came rushing in, swiveling bright green orbs towards him as she did so, a somewhat distant - but happy - look on her features. Upon seeing her friend, however, that characteristic grin spread over her lips, quirking upwards at one corner, and she seemed fully awake again.
"Nice entrance dude," she whispered back, a wicked glint in her eye as she glanced at the messed up red hair, the rumpled clothing. "Not missed much yet - you're not too late. It's quiet a cool little charm, actually, just as long as you don't point it at anyone's face." She paused and her eyes flashed again. "Hmmm, on second thoughts... maybe you shouldn't try it, eh, mate?" she added with a soft laugh. She shoved her text book towards Aylen and gestured at the relevent page.
"Read," she hissed, and then, without further ado, demonstrated the spell for him. "Scintillare Effundere," she said, outloud this time, and with a great BANG! sent a multi-coloured rain of streamers and glitter across the room.
"Easy," she whispered again to Aylen with a wink.

Galanor clapped her hand over her ear that was facing the girl as her spell went off. "Hey, d'ya think that you can... not make it so loud?!" Shaking her head, she decided to hold her tongue, not wanting any House pots removed--they were behind enough as it was-- and instead looked back to the page, rereading it. Gryffindorks, she thought to herself.

Krista waved her wand, saying the incantation, and sparks flew out of her wand, showering the room momentarily in silver and green light. She smiled proudly to herself, and glanced around the room. She noticed Gaalanor across the room, and got up, sitting beside her. She had watched Galanor complete the spell already, and wanted to engage her in conversation.
"The Gryffindork next to you seems to be having some problems," Krista muttered and doubled up in giggles as a loud bang echoed through the room once again. She smield at Galanor.
