The History of Magic classroom was much better off than it was when last it was fit for students to enter. Unlike the scenery that it had kept for many summer days, there were no couches or beds or any comforts of the home. It had taken a purely classroom feel. The green patched armchairs were back again, with little desks before them. Now the desks held books, as before they did not. The bell for school was about to sound for the first time since holiday let out. A new year was approaching. As usual, the teacher was not within his office, and a red plumed bird sat in his place at the desk. The red plumed bird was beautiful and majestic, and all the fancy words you can use to describe something that grand. His wings gleamed like they were on fire, and the very light of the Sun in the sky was captured in each feather. But this time around, he was not alone. Hanging in a cage up in the corner of the room sat three very bored looking baby hawks. They tore at a piece of liver hungrily, and made only slight cheaps. Occassionally the shining bird would give them a glare if they were loud, but they would just cheap louder as if they were spiting him.
It was at this point that the door to the room swung open proudly, and in stepped the teacher of the classroom. Unlike the last class, the Professor looked completely different. His hair was no longer well groomed and handsome, but instead spiked like lightning rods and sparking with electricity. His eyes were no longer sparkling sapphires, but pools of violet, the lightning in his hair accumulating within. Many parts of his face was either covered in badly wrapped gauze, or covered in a thick singe mark probably made by a spark of lightning. The only thing that remained of his old self were his shabby scarlet robes that were losing their color, and his tarnished golden boots. Otherwise, one could hardly tell that it was the same Professor Windwaltz who passed through the doors.
All around, the Lightning Mage came to his desk and pet the glowing Trajan's crest peacefully. "Aye," he said to the Phoenix mournfully, "Here we go again. Time to earn the birdseed, as you say." Trajan let out a soft song, but gave no worded reply. Talon sat down in his seat, and whipped out his wand. "Scribe." He muttered, and on the board words appeared.
Welcome back to History of Magic!
"Now..." he muttered, "Just time to wait for the students to file in."

Yawning, Faye rolled over in bed and glanced with bleary eyes at her muggle alarm clock- it was one of the few things she had refused to replace after coming to the school. After all, it had helped her to wake up on many a boring school day. And that was just what it was doing now. The high pitched beeping noise was just the thing to get an over-tired prefect out of bed. Her hand began to gravitate towards the snooze button, but after glancing at the time she realized that she already didn't have enough time to really get ready.
Rolling out of bed, she grabbed a few quills and pieces of parchment and quickly jammed them into her shoulder bag. She could care less about the fact that she wasn't planning to change out of her night clothing, which consisted of a pair of baggy sweatpants and a slightly too small tank top. Oh well- the professor probably wouldn't care. She'd rather be on time and oddly dressed than wind up there late. That was one thing that even got on her nerves.
Without even looking to see if Forgoil or Lottie was following her, she darted out of the common room, down a few flights of stairs and through a few darkened corridors before reaching the History of Magic classroom. Finally slowing her pace, she gently pushed the door open and was suprised to find that the classroom was utterly devoid of students.
She had wound up actually being early.
Sighing with relief, she flopped into an empty green chair in the first row and closed her eyes. Failing to notice that the professor was sitting just a few feet in front of her, she began to doze off.

Xarian streatched as she walked to the classroom. With all the supplies she needed, she entered through the door, and almost did a double take when she saw him in such a condition. She decided that her best bet was to keep moving with her mouth shut for once. She sat down and waited for class to start.

JOrdan walked into the classroom and sat down in the back with all of his supplies. Jordan just sat there looking at the teacher.

A redheaded Gryffindor stepped into the classroom. He was early, for once. Aylen had fallen asleep doing homework, but it gave him a good night’s sleep. He grinned as he saw the small fledglings in the corner and went to greet them after he had claimed a desk. “Hiya, I brought something for you guys,” he said. He reached into his pocket and brought out a small bottle of mouse giblets. This he set on the desk beside Trajan, the phoenix. “Tell Windwaltz to give them some of this if they’re being good.” He winked at him and returned to his seat where he amused himself until the professor arrived.

Rezna closed her book as she glanced at the time on her bedside table. She figured it was time to get ready for class. Ever since she heard movement in an adjacent room, she was awake. Cursing the fact that she was such a light sleeper, she had resorted to reading for the extra half hour.
It was now that the Hufflepuff made her way silently to the one class she found she was actually looking forward to. She hardly knew any of the history behind the magical world, for her parents never had the time to tell her. Thus, she figured what better way to learn than to take matters into your own hands, which she did.
Walking into the classroom, the girl's eyes instantly fell onto the Phoenix on the Professor's desk. Walking away from the doorway, the girl stopped to look at the bird before taking her seat. Subconsciously, she found that she knew what type of bird it was even though she was really seeing one for the first time. The existence of such wonderful animals was remarkable to her, for she had read about them on numerous occasions in the muggle world. Now she found that the myths were really true.
Then, looking into the scarlet bird's eyes, she found remarkable intelligence playing in the background. It was almost as though she was looking into the eyes of a philosopher, much less a human. With a small smile, Rezna found herself nodding to the bird in greeting before taking her seat.

Slowly and silently did Forgoil Halifirien make his way into the History classroom. He was an utter wreck; his grey hair a mess, his eyes seemed unnaturally blood shot and his clothes were....wrinkled and creased in multiple spots. But is was beyond the blood-shot eyes that one could see Forgoil the best. Ever since Lottie and Carmen had seemingly stopped being friends with him; a piece of Forgoil seemed to be missing. Lost to the sands of time.
So as Forgoil took a seat next to Faerlain, one could see a fleeting smile cross his face and a glimpse of the old Forgoil showed itself. Oh, how the happy Forgoil wanted to break out of it's bonds; but it was restrained by the criss-crossing patterns of blood vessels in his green-grey eyes. Once they were said to be the best feature about Forgoil Halifirien; now lack of sleep had taken it's toll on the Hufflepuff. But it seemed that his old self was revived whenever he was with Faerlain or any Hufflepuff that was willing to talk with him.
And he felt terrible that he hadn't spent much time with Faerlain as of late; he would have to make that up to her somehow, but with the current amount of energy that he had; all he could do was briefly hug her and flash a small smile before looking up at the head of the class. So what were they going to learn today.....

Post by Aidana Hawkins on Sept 22, 2005 0:06:31 GMT
A bright ray of sunlight streamed triumphantly through the corridor window after fighting a battle with the jet black darkness of night. A warm golden glow permeated the hallway, bringing it to life as students got ready for class, quite unwillingly. Aidana Hawkins, one of these students, made her way to class quite unwillingly herself. She walked slowly, as if she hoped that delaying her entrance into class would lessen her torture. Yet, however much she wished it, she knew it wasn't going to come true.
Aidana stifled a yawn as she stepped into the classroom, taking in those who were already there. She sent a scowl in the general direction of her brother, an essential part of her daily routine. Many of her friends were in this class, but she didn't feel like talking to anyone right then. Sleep was what she needed, and the corner desk next to the window provided a wonderful opportunity. Walking past the professor, she noticed parts of his face were obscured by bandages, and the rest had black burn marks on them. She smirked, maybe someone should've told him not to play with electricity...
Coming up to her desk, she dumped her bag next to it and plopped down in her chair. A large book, what she assumed to be her text book, was already on the desk. She frowned, not liking this at all. In history class, a book meant reading and reading meant work. Work in history class was the most boring way to pass time imaginable. Though in truth it was a history class, and she couldn't have expected anything more. Pushing the text out of the way she sighed resignedly and put her head down on her desk, willing for sleep to come quickly.

When Ashlle lade eyes on Professor Windwaltz for the first time that year she gasped in shock and ran up to him.
"Professor Windwaltz!" She sounded overly sever for a Second Year talking to a professor, however that was soon explained. "Just look at you! You are almost burned to a crisp! I know I'm only a Second Year, but still, that is no reason to avoid the Hospital Wing just because I am Temp Head Nurse! After Class I expect you to come with me to the Hospital Wing and no excuses!" her voice now softened "If you don't believe in my abilities than I'll let you put on the Burn Creams yourself, but please I don't like to see you suffering."
She looked at him, a caring but troubled look in her eyes. If he were mistreating himself in such a way, who knows how many others were in pain.

Anna had awoken with a start that morning, not completely expecting to be awoken by her owl nipping at her nose, but it had gotten her on time for class. She walked slowly into the classroom with a yawn and noticed her friend Rezna was sitting down in the room. This gave her a smile and she sat next to her dear friend. Soon enough, she noticed the teacher was the very same teacher who had been in the Great Hall the day of Jordan and Larissa's wedding. He had seemed very interested in the writing on the wall, but of course, Anna had fainted before she could learn anything else.
She shivered remembering the wedding and then the terrible scene in the Hospital Wing with the demon. Maybe I should tell the professor about that... Anna thought, and decided she would after class. But, for now she wouldn't worry about that and noticed the beautiful Phoenix on the professor's desk.
Anna sat in awe and studied it's magnificent feathers and the color. But, soon enough, Anna snapped out of the almost trance she was in and turned to her friend Rezna, "Hey stranger." she said to Rezna with a grin on her face remember the last time she'd seen her friend.

Thankfully, this time, she hadn't been too late for class. It seemed as though the teacher was waiting for everyone to get there before starting, unlike many other professors. With her books tucked under one arm, and her blue biro (instead of quill) in the other hand, the blue-haired girl scuttled between the tables to sit next to the blonde girl, Rezna, in her house.
"Hi there! He hasn't started yet, has he?" Carmen enquired whilst setting her books on the table. The teacher looked very unkept today, and she had seen him around the grounds every now and again. This time his robes were ruffled, and his face was covered in plasters to heal obvious wounds. But instead of commenting to Rez about it, she kept her mouth shut. It wasn't best, since teachers always seemed to have ears on the desks.

As soon as Rezna sat down in her desk, her eyes fell on their Professor. Taking in his appearance, she raised her eyebrows in surprise. The blond had been looking at their Professor's horrible appearance that she did not even hear someone sit down next to her.
"Hey stranger." Anna's familiar voice reached her ears.
Spinning around in her seat, Rezna's green eyes lit up happily. "Anna!" she gasped as she leaned over her seat to hug her friend. "How have you been?" she asked as she looked her over. Something about her friend's appearance unnerved her. "Anna, is everything all right?" she added in a half-whisper. Hoping that she was just imagining things, Rezna offered Anna a small smile.
"Hi there! He hasn't started yet, has he?"
Rezna turned around to look at Carmen as she sat down on her other side. "Hey Carmen," the girl replied. "No, he hasn't moved from the board since we came in. But knowing history class, I'm sure it's not going anywhere," the girl tried to joke in hopes of dispersing her worries about Anna. "Oh, Carmen I'd like you to meet my dear friend Anna. And Anna, this is my friend Carmen, a crazed fellow Hufflepuff."

Anna! she heard Rezna gasp.
Anna smiled as Rezna greeted her with a hug and she hugged her back. How have you been? she heard a question thrown at her as Rezna looked at her. "I've been okay," Anna replied with a quick smile. Rezna's voice lowered into almost a whipser as she asked Anna if she was okay. "Uhm, kind of. I've just been thinking about something that happened. But, by any chance, do you know what Angelus Morti means?" Anna asked her in the same low voice.
Suddenly, someone sat on the other side of Rezna and greeted her. Anna missed Rezna's slight joke, because she couldn't help thinking about what the lycan at Jordan and Larissa's wedding and the demon in the Hospital Wing had to do with the same thing. Angelus Morti... Angelus Morti... Those two words kept floating through her head as she racked her brain for any chance of the meaning.
...my dear friend Anna. And Anna, this is my friend Carmen, a crazed fellow Hufflepuff. Anna heard her name and looked to Rezna, "Hi," Anna stuck out her hand and smiled, "Nice to meet you Carmen." Though it looked like Anna was focused on Rezna and Carmen the two words continued to float through her mind. Angelus Morti...[/b]

"Uhm, kind of. I've just been thinking about something that happened. But, by any chance, do you know what Angelus Morti means?"
Rezna's eyebrows drew together at Anna's question. She took her time in responding, because she hoped that she was not wrong.
"Well, Anna," she stated quietly, her voice solemn, "I can't really be sure. Angelus might mean 'angel' because they do sound similar. As for morti, I'm not sure. It's similar to mortal, and a mortician is a director of a funeral home. Maybe it means something along the lines of death or dying."
Looking at her friend, Rezna could tell that the two words were bothering her greatly. "Why'd you ask? What happened that has to do with those words?" the blond asked although she wasn't sure she wanted to know.

Late on my first day.. just great.. she thought, tugging her school robes on over her jeans and pink tank top. Shoving her hair into a sloppy pony tail, she snatched up her wand and bookbag. Practically flying out of the common room, she rushed through the halls, hurrying to her History of Magic Class. She'd missed the first History class because she'd transferred in late, and now she was going to be tardy to the second lesson.
Slowing her pace, she walked into the classroom, searching around for any familiar faces. Spotting Rezna and Carmer, she hurried over to take a seat behind them, flashing them a grin in greeting. Pulling out parchment and a quill, she set them down on top of the textbook, leaning back in her chair with a sigh.
Now that she was here, and it didn't look like the lesson had started, she took the time to study the Professor. He was younger than the professors she'd previously had, and he looked to be in really bad shape. His hair was spiked up in every direction, and his face was covered in horribly wrapped gauze and a nasty-looking singe mark. And his robes seemed to be in as shabby a state. Definately not like any professor she'd seen, that was for sure.
"A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you're fast asleep.." she hummed, twiddling her thumbs as she waited for the class to start.
