Eden smiled and greeted his students as they filed in silently. He gave them each a textbook as they passed him. "Hello! Today we will be making the Draught of the Mandrake!!" he said happily. "I check with Professor Scryllark and she gave me the ok." Here is the pages you will find the potion and the other assignment. www.freewebs.com/professoreden/((I'm sorry this isn't long but I gtg ;D))

Herbology was, by far, her most hated subject. Yet her prescence was occasionally required in the classroom, mostly due to the fact that her mother thought that she should have 'a varied course selection.' Poo. It didn't really make her want to be here.
Figuring that the first thing she should do was tie her hair back so that she didn't spill any ingedients in it, she whipped it back into a loose bun but left a few strands hanging down her cheeks. After a little accident she had in herbology a year or so ago, she always wore old clothing to her messier classes. Her outfit of choice for today was a pair of torn and painted jeans, coupled with an old t-shirt.
Her cauldron was already set up on her table, so she quickly walked up to the supply cabinet and gather the ingredients (as well as a pair of goggles)- four pairs of dragonfly wings, one fully grown mandrake (diced), one tbl. spoon of powered dragon fang, three sliced daisy roots, one skinned shrivelfig, two rat spleens and a small bottle of leech juice.
Getting right to work, she carried all the supplies back to her table and sorted them out. She then heated her cauldron to 250 degrees fahrenheit, which took a little bit. While she was watching the cauldron heat, she took a little glance around the room and noticed that she was the first person to get started. Feeling very satisfied, she refered to her book for the next step.
She stirred the water that was already in her cauldron carefully before adding two of the three daisy roots. Sighing because she had to wait for it to boil, she took another quick glance around the room. Nope, it didn't look like any of her friends were in attendence. It didn't bother her too much, mostly because she knew that this was time to work- not chatter.
After watching the roots boil for no more than two minutes, she added both of the rat spleens. Growning a little impatient due to all the waiting that this potion required, she let out another low sigh. She waited just a little while longer before stirring in the one table spoon of dragon fang. Carefully, she cranked up her cauldron to 500 degrees.
Getting a little careless now, she tossed in the leech juice and four dragonfly wings and gently stirred it for a little while. The next things to go in were the daisy root and skinned shrivelfig. Glad that this was almost over, she quickly added the diced mandrake and was sure to stir the potion exactly 43 times. Knowing that the potion had to simmer for another ten minutes, she decided to answer the questions while she was waiting.
Faerlain Darain, Prefect. Assignment 3-A
1. The use of the draught of the mandrake is that it awakes a person who has been petrified.
2. It takes a half hour to prepare.
3. There were four pairs of dragonfly wings in the potion.
4. I think I did just fine, at least as far as I can tell. Then again, I'm not a herbology teacher, and this is by far not my best subject.
She gently rolled up her scroll of parchment, scribbled her name on the top and then prepared a flask of the potion. It looked very nice, at least in her eyes. Smiling a little, she stood up and dropped off both the potion and the scroll on Prof. Eden's desk and then returned to her table.
Very good. You got a little careless at the end but full marks. 20/20

Protege walked into the classroom, ready for class. While he may have been a late bloomer, he was determined to catch up. Pulling out his cauldron, goggles, dragonfly wings, diced mandrake, powdered dragon fang, daisy roots, skinned shrivelfrig, rat spleens, and leech juice, he prepared for the class. Setting up his cauldron, he had it start heating while he measured out 1 tbl. spoon of powdered dragon fang. Then, when it was fully heated at 250 degrees F, he stirred water in the cauldron and added 2 of his daisy roots. Then, after he had let it boil for 2 minutes, he added 2 rat spleens. After that, he waited then added the tbl. spoon of powdered dragon fang that he had carefully measured. Right when he had finished that, he had the heat increase to 500 degrees F. Once the potion had reached the appropriate temperature, he mixed in the 3rd daisy root and the skinned shrivelfig. When that was done, he added the diced mandrake and stirred 43 times, counting every one and stirring carefully to make sure he made full circles. While he let it simmer for 10 minutes, he did the written assignment.
Protege, Slytherin Assignment 3-A 1. What is the use of the Draught of the Mandrake? The Draught of the Mandrake is used to return people who have been petrifyed(sp?) to normal. 2. How long does it take to prepare in total? It takes 30 minutes to PREPARE the potion, but at least 42 minutes total to make. (The Prep time already included the 12 mins.) 3. How many pairs of dragonfly wings were in the potion? The potion required 4 pairs of dragonfly wings.
Seeing that his potion had finished simmering, Protege took and filled a flask with the finished potion and cleaned up. Then, he began to finish his written assignment.
4. Finally, how do you think you did?? I am fairly certain I did well, although not being a teacher or quality inspector, I cannot make a definite guess.
When he had finished the written assignment, Protege rolled it up, grabbed his flask with the potion in it, and put both of them on the teacher's desk, hoping that he got a good grade.
[glow=green,2,300]Good! But the Prep time already included the time it took to make the potion. 19/20[/glow]

Again Potions! After she'd just done one not two days ago. Well, Ashlle hoped that this teacher was just a bit fairer than her last one. She read her direction though twice and proceeded to make her potion. Putting the goggles on, (it didn't say anywhere what she was supposed to do with them and this was the only thing that made an ounce of sense,) she started by heating the water already in her cauldron to 250F. While it was heating she looked at the directions again. 'Stir water in cauldron then add two daisy roots' it said. Again! Again no mention of which stir rod to use! Ashlle was beginning to think that the Potionist in Diagon Alley was a bit off her rocker. She soon chose the Crystal Stirrer for it was said to have power over the life force and the point of the potion was to change something petrified into something soft & alive. So stirring carefully she added the two daisy roots. She then let the root boil for exactly two minutes then added the two rats spleens. It was a little tricky with so many ingredients and such practice directions so Ashlle blocked everything else out and just concentrated on the potion. Having let sit while she was thinking to herself she then stirred in the one tbl. spoon of dragon fang and gently increased the heat to 500F while she was waiting for it to heat up she took a look at the question on the board. ‘Pretty simple’ she thought. Going back to the potion. Now that it was hot enough she mixed in the leech juice and the four pairs of dragonfly wings. Next she added the last daisy root along with the skinned shrivelfig. The last thing was the diced Mandrake. She delicately added it then stirred it slowly exactly forty-three times with the Crystal stir rod. Having ten minutes to spare before it was time to bring a flask of the stuff up the Professor, Ashlle decided to work on the Assignment. Ashlle G. Rainier Gryffindor Assignment 3-A 1. What is the use of the Draught of the Mandrake?
To return living things who have been petrified to their proper states.
2. How long does it take to prepare in total??
thirty Minutes
3. How many pairs of dragonfly wings were in the potion?
four pairs
4. Finally, how do you think you did??
I think I did rather well considering the difficulty, length and directions given. Ashlle checked her answers over, and seeing as the time had elapsed she poured a decant sized flask for the teacher, labeled it and walked it up to the teachers desk along with her paper. [glow=green,2,300]Great job Ms. Rainier!! You were very descriptive. Full marks! 20/20[/glow]

Aeon hated Herbology for the most part. He disliked all the growing and stuff, his favorite class was charms. He poured the water intot he cauldron and was waiting for it to heat up and allow the prep time needed. He headed over to the cabnit while it was heating up. He got his pair of goggles and his needed supplys: The 4 pairs of dragonfly wings, the 1tbl spoon ofpowderd dragon fang, the 2 rat spleens, the 3 sliced daisy roots, the small bottle of leech jucie, the fully grown mandrake(diced), and the skinned shivelfig. He headed back over to the table with all his supplys in hand, well in his arms.
Aeon got over within the two minutes needed for ther cauldron to heat up fully. He placed the two daisy roots in and let them boil for two minutes then he added in the rat spleens. He then sitrred in the 1tbl spoon of powderd dragon fang. He then heated the cauldron up to the 500F needed tfor the next part of the potion. He poured in the dash of leech juice and the 4 dragonfly wings, then added the last dasiy root along with the skinned shrivelfig. He then added all of the diced uup fully grown mandrake. As it shimmered the needed ten minuted he wrote the assignment down
[glow=silver,2,300]Aeon Ashcroft, Ravenclaw Assignment 3-A 1. What is the use of the Draught of the Mandrake? To cure Petrified Persons 2. How long does it take to prepare in total??

Aeon poured the potion into a flash and toke the paper and flask up to the Professor's desk and placed it on it, the flask saying the same as the paper other thenthe Assignment part. He turned and walked back to his chair and waited for the end of class
[glow=green,2,300]Good Mr.Ashcroft. But, the time already was included and you didn't head your paper correctly. But, yes you did pull a passing grade. 17/20[/glow]

Eleanor groaned inwardly as she saw what the Professor had set up for them to do that day. Potions? And herbology had been such a nice class, too...but she supposed that it was an important part of the class, since most plants and other growing thingers were used as potion ingredients at some point down the line in their leafy lives. She took a seat nonetheless, willing to give it a try - even if Potions wasn't exactly a favorite class of hers. Everything had its purpose, she knew, and this was no exception. Opening her book to peruse for the desired page numbers, she sighed. Her day hadn't started off well, and now she had to make a complicated-looking potion in a class that usually had nothing to do with that! At least she didn't have Potions that day...with a grim smile, she turned to set a cauldron on her fire. While it was heating up, she rushed to the storeroom to gather all her supplies. The girl was able to make it back to her spot carrying everything, although it had been a precarious task.
She arranged everything meticulously on her tabletop, trying to remember where she had put everything should she have need of it. The water didn't seem quite hot enough yet...Eleanor occupied herself by skinning her shrivelfig, quite an easy task. The daisy roots were much harder, requiring exact slices - that took her much longer. By the time her roots were evenly sectioned, the temperature spell on her cauldron told her that it was just the right time to begin. She stirred the water, then stopped with a horrified look on her face. Goggles! She rushed back to the storeroom, coming out quite comical-looking with a pair of the protective things over her eyes. Hoping no one had noticed her ghastly mistake, she took two of the daisy roots and slid them carefully in. There wouldn't be any need for boiling water splashing about. Turning back to the directions, she saw she had a bit of time to relax - which she spent cornering two of the slipperiest rat spleens she'd ever encountered in her life. The two minutes was barely up when she had a hold on both of them, dropping them into the cauldron with a resolute nod of her head. This was...fun, sort of.
But how long to let it sit for? It was not extremely descriptive on that part. She gave it a fair couple of moments, watching it tensely before stirring it as she sprinkled in her measly tablespoon of powdered dragon fang. But not much was needed - it was potent stuff, even in its barest amounts. Eleanor then turned up her fire, noting with happiness that it heated up to five hundred much more quickly - FIVE HUNDRED?! She subconsciously backed away from the violently bubbling thing, not caring to burn herself. Burns...were nasty. She somehow managed to force herself closer, quickly adding her leech juice and the dragonfly wings, hand shaking all the while. Damnit. It didn't say to stir or to wait after the last step, so her final daisy root and carefully skinned shrivelfig were next to go into the bubbling mire. The Mandrake was similarly treated, quickly diced and slid in...
All right...forty-three stirs. One...two... ...five, six ... ten... twenty-eight ... thirty-one, thirty-three - wait, what? Thirty...no...something...ack! Eleanor flushed furiously, embarrassed that she had lost count. She gave it a good dozen more stirs, hoping nothing drastic would happen if she had over- or under-stirred. Maybe she'd hit it just right...gah. Er...it didn't look very shimmery to her, but maybe that had been a typo in her textbook - she let it simmer for ten minutes, using the time to wipe off her table and to put away the ingredients she hadn't used. Wait - there were questions to do, to?! How much work did Eden expect of them that day? But she sat down dutifully and opened her book once more, ever keeping an eye on her potion. Goggles still affixed to her eyes, she began to squint at the text...
Eleanor Sel'shea, Hufflepuff Assignment 3-A 1. What is the use of the Draught of the Mandrake? The Mandrake Draught is used to un-Petrify people; that is, to restore them to their natural state.
2. How long does it take to prepare in total? Thirty minutes total.
3. How many pairs of dragonfly wings were in the potion? There were four pairs of dragonfly wings used in the potion.
4. Finally, how do you think you did? Well, Potions isn't a particular hobby of mine, although I know it has its uses; I probably did average - but not abysmal.[/color]
It had taken her about ten minutes to complete the questions; they were easy - perhaps Professor Eden was trying to make up for assigning such a hard potion? Eleanor rolled up her parchment and carefully poured a flask of her potion from the cooled cauldron, extinguishing her flames before handing the rest in to the Professor at his desk. She dumped the rest of her potion and cleane her cauldron, nearly forgetting to take off her goggles before she sat back down at her desk to wait for the class to end. Hopefully she'd done her best!
[glow=green,2,300]Great Ms.Sel'shea!! Very detailed on you potion brewing and everything. Extra credit = 25/20[/glow]

Rose walked into the Herbology Class and sat in a seat at the back of the room. Her first Herbology lesson!!! She was excited. She had always loved plants and couldn't wait to get started.
Rose read the instructions three times to make sure she had read them correctly. 'Can't be too careful when doing a potion.' Rose thought as she put on her goggles.
Rose brought out her cauldron and poured the water in. 'Hmmm.... Shouldn't they specify what to stir with?' Rose turned to a student next to her and asked what to stir with. "I suggest the Crystal Stirrer. Besides that had power over life force." After the roots boiled for 2 minutes she added the 2 rats spleens, making a face when putting them in. She stirred in 1 tbl. of dragon fang after letting the ingredients sit.
"Now increase the heat to 500F." Rose did so, then mixing in the leech juice and the 4 dragonfly wings. Then she added the last daisy root with a skinned shrivelfig.
"Add the diced Mandrake and stir for exactly 43 minutes! Oh dear, I think my arm may fall off." For 43 minutes Rose stirred the potion, when the time had finally passed Rose's arm was numb.
She let potion shimmer for 10 minutes and then poured a goodly amount into a flask and began to answer the questions.
1. What is the use of the Draught of the Mandrake? The use of the Draught of the Mandrake is to un-petrify someone who has been petrified.
2. How long does it take to prepare in total?? 30 minutes
3. How many pairs of dragonfly wings were in the potion? There were 4 pairs
4. Finally, how do you think you did?? I hope I did good. I followed the instructions as they were written and asked if I did not know something.
Rose rolled the parchment up and took the flask and the parchment to the teacher's desk. She then left the room as quietly as she had come.
[glow=green,2,300]Good job. But the instructions said for to stir 43 TURNS, not minutes. Also, you didn't head you paper correctly. 15/20 [/glow]

Lucian like Herbology for the most part. He liked all the growing and stuff, his favorite class was Defence aganst the dark arts. He poured the water into the cauldron and was waiting for it to heat up and allow the prep time needed. He headed over to the cabnit while it was heating up. He wondered if he should use his stirrer or one from the schools supplys. He desided on his and made a mental note to use his Silver one, he enjoyed it more then his other ones. He looked at the Kinned Shivelfig and slightly shuttered but then thought 'Hey Anything for a good grade' .So he headed back over to the table with all his supplys in hand, well in his arms.
Lucian got over and waited the two minutes needed for ther cauldron to heat up fully. He placed the two daisy roots in and let them boil for two minutes then he added in the rat spleens. He then sitrred in the 1tbl spoon of powderd dragon fang. He then heated the cauldron up to the 500F needed tfor the next part of the potion. Lucian poured the potion into a flash and toke the paper and flask up to the Professor's desk and placed it on it, the flask saying the same as the paper. He smiled at the teacher and then went to sit down, his fingers crossed that he did a good job on the potion
[glow=green,2,300]0/20 I shall NOT tolerate copying! You copied off of Mr. Ashcroft . I never wrote "Already included time for potion" on your paper. You just changed the answer. Write an essay on the Mandrake and turn it into me by Saturday. It should be no less than one scroll (page) long. I will speak to the Headmistress about removing 20 house points from Gryffindor.[/glow]

Lucian had been sitting in class near the back. He saw the others getting there things ready for another potion. And rather then get caght in the stamped he waited till they all came back from the cubboard. He slowly walked over avoiding the ever growing hotter couldrons. As he reached the cubboard he picked up a pair of goggles and slipped them onto his head and went about getting the 4 dragonfly wings, 3 sliced daisy roots, the skinned Shilverfig , the Diced Mandrake, the 1 tbl spoon of dragon fang( powered), the 2 rat spleens, and the Small veil of leech juice. As he got all of these and made his way back to the couldron. He poured water in and turned it to 350F.
As the Couldron got hot enough he stirred the water for a few moments then added the Sliced Dasiy roots( 2), He stood bakc as the water bioled for two minutes then he tossed int he rat spleens. After a moment he added in the tbl spoon of powered dragon fang, which he stirred in as per the instructions. He pointed his wand at the fire and mumbbled a spell to increase the heat up to 500F. He added in the leech juice and all 4 of the dragon fly wings. He then added in together the Last dasiy root and the shinned shrivelfig. He toke a small planet that had the diced mandrake root and slide it in then took his stirrer and stirred 43 times as ordered, counting each time as he did. He looked at the board and saw he had to let it sit for 10 minutes so he began the paper work.
Assignment 3-A Lucian, Gryffindor
1. What is the use of the Draught of the Mandrake? To curse person petrifide
2. How long does it take to prepare in total?? 30 minutes
3. How many pairs of dragonfly wings were in the potion? 4 were used in this potion
4. Finally, how do you think you did?? I guess i got a desent grade, but failing is always a possiblity
He toke the paper and a flask of his potion both now holding his name and he made his way to the teachers desk. He lay the stuff on her desk. He turned on his heel and walked away with out looking at the teacher. He sat down and turned his book to the page the new potion was on having wasted half of the class.
((I played this as if it were a sarperate day, so to make it fit))
