A girl pail girl with deep wide brown eyes walked casually into the great hall. She had on her long purple velvet skirt that had two black velvet stripes that ran down the side and a silver pentagrame on the side just in front of the sides. She was tall and slender. She had on a red top with black sleaves that showed of her belly a bit and on the top was a black rose. Her name was Qarrien.
Qarrien was a hufflpuff student and had been atending Hogwarts for some time now but she hadn't really had a chance to get to know anyone. When Qarrien had first come she had kept to herself, she felt as though she didn't really belong. Qarrien had mostly kept to herself at the lake sitting under trees and pondered about what she would do, what was to come and what had been. Now Qarrien felt ready to face the world.
There were a fare amount of student's in eating their breakfeast that morning. They all chatered to them selfs about what subjects they would be doing that day or how their future would turn out. Qarrien stroled over to a table table not caring really if it was even the right one. She ddn't take it into acount as she sat down next to another student she didn't know. No suprises there I guess. She thought to herself. Qarrien ternd to the student. "Hi my names Qarrien. I don't think we have met." Qarrien said with a bubbly nature that seemed foren to her.

Persephone had been sitting at the Ravenclaw table eating her breakfast when another girl came and sat down by her. She wasn't certain if she knew the girl, and she wondered if she had seen her before. Deciding that she hadn't when the girl introduced herself, she smiled.
Persephone had that beaming kind of smile. The type that reminds you of summer days and pranks that you'd pulled. Her large expressive green eyes were deeping and knowing, and the light that always flickered there shined brightly tonight. Her long silver blonde hair danced around her small five foot body. Her pale skin seemed to complete the picture.
Persephone even knew that she looked much younger than her sixteen years. More often than not people were shocked to find her sixteen. A boy had even asked if she was elven. But she had gotten used to that.
Turning to the girl, who seemed way to happy this early, she said in response, "I'm Persephone. You're right I don't think we've met."
ooc: Sorry for the crappy post, I'm doing chemistry right now @_@ ...is her name pronounced like Karen?

OOC: That's fine! Yeh it is pronounced that way, it's really wired not many people get that! Cool!
Qarrien smiled at Persephone. For a bit she was wondering if the girl would answer only for the fact they had never met before. Relief went through her as Persephone smiled back then replied.
Qarrien short red hair was spiked up at the back and her purple fringe was straitened down the side of her face. “I don’t really know a lot of people around here to be honest. I spent the most part of when I first came here sticking to myself. But now I find it nice meeting new people. So what’s your story?” Qarrien asked. Not meaning it in a rude way of course.
Qarrien was 16 but looked older for her age. She had, had some issues that had made her grow up fast as a child. It had also made her not so eager to let any one close but she had been determined to change that anyway.

Persephone listened to Quarrien speak. It seemed like the two of them had quite a lot in common so far. Persephone herself had tried to avoid the Great Hall. She had prefered the quite safety of her common room. But now Quarrien has asked what her story was.
What was her story? Well, she wasn't quite certain where to begin. Should she say that she'd been hiding in the common room becuase she didn't like crowds? Or should she start with the death of her parents and her fear of....
She didn't finish that thought. She would say what had come to her mind first.
"Almost the same. I prefered to stay in the common room when I ate, but then again, my friends started to drag me down here,"She gestured to the Great Hall. "But it's not really that bad after you get used to it."

Listening to Persephone speak, Qarrien got the feeling she wasn’t telling her everything but chose not to peruse it. Qarrien liked the whole talking to someone and didn’t want to ruin it.
Qarrien hered what Persephone had to say and considered all the information. Qarrien hadn’t had any friends really. She had been to much to herself all the time to make any and so doing this was her own decision to come here to try and meet people.
“I have never really gotten along with lots of people. I had one close friend at my old school. It was pretty much just her and me. I got into a few fights at that school so every one thought it best to move me.” Qarrien explained thinking of the old times.
Qarrien grabbed a bit of Bacon from a platter in front of her and started chewing on the piggy goodness. “I use to be a vegetarian. I had to stop though because I started fainting.” Qarrien told Persephone.

"I don't think I could ever be a vegitarian, although an old friend of mine from the oprhanage was one just so he could "kill" the plants. er...He was a little odd a times..."
Persephone smiled a little bit at the thought of her friends from the orphanage. She hadn't seen them since her last summer holiday, and only hoped that she would see them again. Still, she loved this school and her house. She wouldn't have done anything to change that.
Sephe grabbed a boal of oatmeal and added some chocolate syrup to it. She particuarly liked it that way. It gave her a "complete breakfast" and some sugar to get her through her day.

Chewing on her bacon strip she considered it. “Well it was this program I saw on T.V. once. It was a news report actually. They showed what they do to animals in slaughter houses over in other countries and it turned me off it for a bit. I love meat though. It was hard and then I just gave up coz the iron tablets and all that jazz wasn’t working.”
Qarrien remembered the bit where Persephone had said she was in an orphanage and it got Qarrien thinking. Qarrien had been in an orphanage as well. It was the reason she was so distant with people. Qarrien hadn’t likes it much because she had only been a few months old when her parents deserted her and the orphanage had treated her like filth off the streets. She had hated her parents for what they did.
“Did you like the orphanage you lived in? I have heard that some orphanages can be nice to be in.” Qarrien asked. “I didn’t like the one I was in very much. The people who ran it were really nasty and the other kids there picked on every one else and stole everything you had. Not that I had much anyway, being there from an early age.”

Persephone thought about it. The orphanage she had grown up in near Brighton wasn't that bad. She had been treated like she belonged there. It had been home, and there hadn't been much missing until she had found Magic Horizons. It had been like finding a place where she belonged totally and utterly.
"My orphanage was good. It was like a second home, and I really felt like I belonged there. Everyone got along, but we fought sometimes, just like normal families I guess. We were a family. I really miss everyone there, but I'm happy here. I wouldn't change it for the world."
Persephone nodded and took a spoonful of her oatmeal. It went down her throat warming her body in the fall chill. It felt nice and like a piece of home. The home she had never had but always wanted. The one she had found here.
"How was your's?"
Persephone had always been curious of other orphangages. She wondered if that old steroetypical form was true.

Qarrien looked at her plate and started shuffling the food on her plate. Remembering the orphanage was bad memories. “There wasn’t much that happened there that was actually good because it was a very big. The people couldn’t keep control of the kids and just didn’t care what they did. The other kids just destroyed the younger ones in the place.”
Qarrien remember one Christmas “This one Christmas where for once they were supposed to get proper stuff as presents because some charity had donated some toys for the younger ones and computer games and all that to the older ones. One of the older ones went up to a small one and snatched the stuffed kitten she had just opened up from the box. The older one laughed and said it was just cheep crap and ripped off the head. I spent ages sowing it back on then had to tie a peace of ribbon around it’s neck so you couldn’t see the place where I hade sown it back together again.” Qarrien explained.

ooc: I'm soooooo sorry! I forgot about this thread!
bic:
Mentally, Persephone flinched at the story Qarrien had spun. In her mind she could see the horrible Christmas happening, and she knew that Qarrien had probably never gotten over the hurt, but then again neither would Sephe.
"I'm sorry. But you know, Christmas here's a lot better. No one will rip of doll heads, or say mean things to you. There's really nothing like having Christmas with your House, that is if you plan to stay here for the holidays."
She looked hopefully at Qarrien. It would be nice to have another friend that would be here at the school with. She wouldn't be left alone then, and she could share her Christmas with some one she considered a friend then some one she didn't care much for.

A smile spread across Qarrien’s face. She hadn’t really thought about Christmas much. She did know though, thinking about it now, that she would be staying. There was no way she was going back the orphanage willingly. “Yes I am staying. I know it would have to be a lot better. I just feel bad for the other kids at the orphanage who will have to go through yet another Christmas there. But there is no way I would go back. It might sound selfish but I would love to just have one nice Christmas.” Qarrien exclaimed as she pictured the sort of Christmas she would experience this time round.
The Christmas would be like the ones you only hear of in stories. She knew the owners of the orphanage probably wouldn’t care at all. They would probably be happy to have one less nuisance out the way. Qarrien had been brought up all her life to feel as though she was nothing and when she had come here she had felt as though any second they were going to tell her that they had made a mistake which was why she had been so quiet and stayed away from every one.
“I bet there is heaps of food. It’s probably all I could imagine. I can’t wait for it. It should be excellent.” Qarrien said all happy. She did feel though that maybe she was working herself up for nothing.
