Anne was sitting at the Slytherin table with a mug of warm, black coffee and that day's paper. Her eyes scanned the front page, which detailed some kind of battle between two groups of some sort. She sipped her coffee and smiled as the animated people in the pictures were repeatedly attacked.

"Oh, terrific. Is that today's paper?" questioned Vance while clutching a steaming mug, massive in comparison to her small hand, full of black coffee. The dark circles under her eyes suggested that she hadn't slept in days, but her attitude could best be described as almost chipper, though in a droll, dull sort of way. It was almost as if her chipperness was a facade to conceal something deeper, something darker, inside.

Jenna was sitting happily at the Gryfinndor table, plotting her revenge on a Slythernin student who had used a full body bind on her with her friends while pushing down some eggs. She glanced up from her plate and looked straight at the Slythernin table.
"Hey guys, look at the front page," said Jenna, pointing at the newspaper a Slythernin girl was holding. "I'm gonna go ask her what it says," said Jenna bravely and got up and walked over to the Slythernin table.

Vance looked up at the girl approaching her. As the girl strode confidently forward, Vance slumped nearly completely under the table. There wasn't anything specifically that she didn't like about this girl. She just wasn't in the mood really to talk to anyone, especially this young, cheery, Gryffindor student. She'd always gotten the impression that this girl didn't like anyone in Slytherin anyway.
