Watching the water ripple

Tru sat by the lake gently poking the water, watching it ripple, she sat there all alone, wishing her friends would come... or perhaps someone she had never met before, that would be nice, she smiled to herself. then a nice breeze blew by, making her hair blow into her face, she gently tucked the loose strands behind her ears. She remembered how much fun she had swimming in a lake her aunt and uncle had bought when she was little, Faith and Crissy had swam with her all the time, speaking of Crissy she thought... where was she? Tru hadn't seen her other cousin yet, had something happend to Crissy that no one was talking about? Tru now started to get worried, had something really happened?

Faith looked around the down below her from the tree she had fallen asleep in and saw Tru, she jumped down next her cousin and smiled brightly "hey Tru! whats new?" she sat down and looked into the water then looked back at Tru, her cousin had a thoughtful look on her face "whats on your mind Tru?" she asked in a soft voice, which she didn't do often

Tru was a little startled, but then realized it was Faith so she didn't jump TOO much "Hi, nothing much" She said smiling at Faith, but her voice sounded as if she was lost in thought. "my mind... well... I... a... where is Crissy?" Tru blurted out hoping that something didn't happen, she wouldn't want to make Faith upset. and if anything DID happen, that would be the second family member she would have lost. Her older brother had got killed two years ago by a some dumb drunk driver, a look of sadness came over Tru's face, she had gotten over it a little, it still haunted her. But, she had finally got to the place she wanted to be! Shouldn't she be happy? She shook her head trying to forget all the memories. So she looked at Faith and swallowed hard waiting for the answers.

Faith looked down at the ground then pulled her knees up to her chest and rest her elbows on them, she put her head in her hands and sighed deeply "don't tell me no one told you..." she rubbed her temples and put her head back in her hands "it's been like three months and nobody even bothered to tell you!" she punched a tree frustrated, it cracked slightly and her knuckles started bleeding lightly, she rested her head in her hands again. she wraped her arms around her knees and rested her head on them "she's dead Tru...she was bit by a vampire....three months ago...." she said into her knees as she choked back a sob.

Tru couldn't believe it, how could this happen!? not another family member, tears swelled up in her eyes
"r-really?" Tru couldn't believe what she was hearing
"n-no one told m-me? three months? wow, the news sure gets around fast doesn't it?" Tru was now sobbing really hard, she had always had so much fun with crissy and faith... now there was only Faith, Faith was great, but no Crissy? this was too much for her!

Faith nodded into her knees, a heart breacking sob escaped her, she tryed her hardest to keep them in aswell as the tears that so desperately wanted to fall, and after a vigorous fight with herself she managed to hold them back "so they really didn't tell you?" she said through clenched teeth. She closed her eyes tight, trying to push her anger away the best she could

Tru had tears streaming down her cheeks amazed at how Faith wasn't crying the slightest "y-ya, n-no one told me!" Tru now felt rage, her parents never told her! no one did! Tru was happy that she was here, maybe she would no what was happening in the world around here, she buried her head in her hands, trying to stop the tears, but she knew that there was no point... and Crissys death was worth her tears so she cried and cried "It was a vampire...? ...what was ahe doing hanging with vampires?"

Faith took in a deep breath and let it out slowly "she wasn't hanging out with vampires....she was lost...with Anya...and she got biten..." she put her head in her hands again and sighed, she didn't like to talk about this....it hurt her alot

"oh... ok, th-thanks" while she said this, she wanted to change the subject, she knew that it was probably not fun for Faith to be talking about this... but she did want to know what had happend!

Faith nodded and looked up at the clouds, she remaind slient, not trusting herself to talk. She took in another deep breath and left it out slowly, trying to calm herself down

Tru sighed wiping away some tears "Sorry to er... a... talk about it" Tru apoligized forcing a smile. Tru took a tissue out of her pocket not knowing exactly how it got there, so she put it back, and wiped her tears with her hand

Faith shoo her head "no you deserved to know...after all she was your cousin..." she picked up a rock and skipped it across the lake

"ya, okay, thanks" Tru said smiling sweetly. she too tried to skip a rock, and the keyword was 'tried' she threw it, and it just sunk, Tru sighed at her attempt

Faith laughed "ain't no one ever taught you how to skip a rock?" she asked her cousin with a grin. She picked up another rock and skipped it across the lake

Tru smiled, kinda of glad the subject sorta changed to rocks "Well, I tried, and yes people have taught me... but, I'm not the greatest" Tru blushed searching for a round rock that was flat "this will do" she sorta said to herself. Tru skipped a rock, this time she skipped it six times "beat that Faith" Tru laughed, letting her competitiveness shine "sometimes you just need the right rock!"
