"Of course there's a test," he said roughly, "Though I wouldn't be too hasty on learning second elements. Learn and perfect your primary before you even try for that, I myself, after nearly five years of knowing my wind magic haven't even tried to learn a new element."
He stretched his arms out forward, and flexed his elbows inward toward his chest. "We of wizardkind have a special power...that makes it easier for us to channel into the elements...I'd like you to take this position as well, and search inside yourself, using that inner, arcane power that we all have, and find the element that is alight within you...and when you've found it...shout its name..."
"If Wind, shout Anemoi, if Fire, shout Puros, if Water, shout Okeanos, and if Earth shout Gaia." As in all good situations...the first step is acceptance."

A test? She hadn't counted on a test. And it was very off-putting that the Professor hadn't even tried another element. If it took him about five years to master just wind, how was she supposed to master fire in a few days? The battle was imminent, and she could feel the dark cloud around Magic Horizons growing. Aidana guesed that she would have to fight when she was in training. Under Professor Windwaltz's guidance, she hoped that she would do well.
She was getting ahead of herself though. As the Professor said, the first step was acceptance. Standing tall, she put her arms out, and flexed her elbows in like the Professor demonstrated. She closed her eyes, and tried reach inside herself like he said. She blocked out all of the sounds that were coming toward her and everything else that was distracting her. Shutting out the world was part of meditating she had learned before. She delved deep inside herself, and found everything was aglow in a dull red light. Pushing a little farther, she could see a very small flame burning endlessly. She tentatively reached out towards it with her mind, and for the first time, it felt as if it scorched her. She automatically drew back quickly.
No! You have to master it. Take control of it, don't let it control you... Aidana took a deep breath, and tried reaching out towards it again. It burned her again, but she kept reaching no matter how much it hurt her. Slowly, the pain ebbed away, but the fire had grown. The dull red light had suddenly turned a vibrant scarlet in her mind. Smiling inwardly, she knew she had done it. She had brought her fire out of dormancy.
"Puros!" she shouted. Aidana wasn't expecting anything, but suddenly felt a warmth in her hands. She opened her eyes, and was quite surprised at what she saw. A ball of light had appeared in her hands. It gave off a dull red light. In face, it was the same red light that she had just seen in her mind. Aidana smiled at it, feeling accomplished.
OOC: Yep, modified it.

Sylph nodded at Talon's first words. They made sense. She knew that harnessing the power of an element would take time... a long time, and mixing it with a second would take even longer. Wondering idly how long it had taken Professor Windwaltz to perfect his powers - if indeed one could ever perfect such a thing - she copied his position, feeling slightly foolish as she did so.
There she stood, closing her eyes, searching her feelings ((god I feel like Luke Skywalker here!)) for what she felt, but in her heart, she knew already what the answer would be - her Morgan intuition knew; it usually did. Concentrating a little more - though she managed to achieve it by simply relaxing, Sylph could feel something building up inside her, a kind of faint yellow glow, the colour of the dawn, but what came out of her mouth wasn't one of the words Talon had told them.
"Eurus!" she cried, and an icy eastern gale seemed to buffet her, though the others could not feel it. Her violet tresses whipped around her shoulders, painfully hitting the skin of her cheeks, but she kept her eyes closed, and forced herself to relax. Slowly the wind died, and Sylph opened her eyes happily.
" Anemoi," she said softly, her lips playing into a gentle smile.

OOC: *bangs head on desk* Was it? Oh lord I'm getting my gods muddled up... Sorry! It's late! I'm tired! Hang on, i'll edit.
EDIT: have edited... did that make sense?! I knew the eastern wind was fierce at least... it's just the names of the gods! Aquillo is the Roman god of the north wind, right? With Favonius being the West wind... oh dear I've forgotten the rest. But Typhoeus is god of hurricanes and storms! I remember that one!

OOC: Aquilo is actually the "A." in Talon's name. Random fact. But yes, I always use the Greek names in spells...if you want to use those, feel free. But Anemoi is actually what they call the "Wind Brothers".
BIC: Talon smiled happily when both girls successfully called forth the element within. "Congratulations," he voiced, and he too then went into a strange sort of trance. For only about a split second, Talon closed his eyes, and in the next he shouted "Anemoi!" And in his hands materialized a shining white globe the size of a beach ball.
"After a long time of training, your spheres will continue to grow larger. From now on, you two will have to do different things. Since I fear this Danawi may not hold off very long, I recommend you both going about your duties as quickly as possible." Turning to face Sylph, he reached for his wand and elevated it firmly, "Accio Book of Winds!"
Across the sky from the Entrance Hall came a worn out black book, with the title torn and illegible. "This is called The Book of Winds. It contains every kind of wind: Boreas, the North Wind, Zephyrus, the West Wind, Notos, the South Wind, Eurus, the East Wind, Kaikias, the North-East Wind, Apeliotus, the South-East Wind, Skiron, the North-West Wind, and Livos, the South-West Wind. I recommend you do a little field study, until you know which wind is blowing so well that you can comprehend it in a split second. Return here to the Owlery when you feel you are ready. We shall use this place as a secret meeting point - nobody ever really comes here."
Turning back to Aidana, "You, on the other hand, will stay with me."

Sylph caught the book deftly from Professor Windwaltz, looking at the beaten black cover with mild interest. She was curious to see what Adiana would get up to up here, but for now Sylph had to content herself with a great deal of reading, which would be fine. Her family had assumed she would be placed in Ravenclaw for a reason - Sylph ate up information at an even greater rate than she ate food, and once in a book, you would have a hard time getting her out of it. She nodded briefly to Talon, and, giving Aidana a small wave, made as if to leave.
Turning back though, hitting her forehead with the palm of her hand as she did so, she pulled out a letter from her pocket and quickly tied it to Dylan's outstretched talon, and watched him fly off into the distance, a faint smile on her face.
The South Wind was blowing.

Next to her, Aidana saw a fierce magical wind encompass Sylph. It was odd for her to see Sylphs violet hair blowing around the girl, and not feel it herself. But a second later the wind had accepted the girl, and she would see Sylph smiling. Then the professor summoned up his own magic, and in his hands she could see a ball of light similar to her own. His though was radiating with power, and no doubt it had taken him years to perfect his magic. He brought up a point though. Danawi wouldn't wait long, and she and Sylph didn't have much time to learn their element. The professor summoned up a book about Winds for Sylph, and told her to read it. But Aidana felt a little overwhelmed with Sylph's task. She had to be able to recognize what wind was blowing in a split second? Aidana knew that this magic was hard, but she doubted that she could be able to do something like that. Maybe that was why wind wasn't her element. She didn't doubt Sylph could do it though. That girl was a natural on a broom, and maybe it was her natural wind magic which helped her. A minute later Sylph left, and Aidana remained at the professor's request.
" So, Professor Windwaltz. What would you have me do?" she asked him, looking up into his face. Suddenly, she was struck with something close to awe. She had just realized that the professor was young, very young. Maybe even three or four years older than her, and he had learned to master his element at such a young age. Even standing here in the Owlery, in his tattered robes, he seemed wise very much beyond his years.

"Well, to be quite honest..." And here they went. Just as Aidana began to feel Talon wise beyond his years, his years caught up with him. "...I've actually never studied Fire Magic before, so I have no clue what to do...and that's why I'm going to have to learn it with you." Trajan rolled his strange eyes. "Who could've seen that coming?" Talon glared at the bird, though Trajan simply chirped mournfully.
"I presume, however, my mastery over Wind Magic will give me a bit of room when summoning Fire Magic." He calmed himself down, performing the same position he had the girls do. He felt around in the inner confines of his soul...'Somewhere in here...flames of courage must burn...I am a Gryffindor after all...' But all he heard was...Trajan's song.
That was it! Trajan was a Phoenix, and the Phoenix was a fire bird! Seeing how Trajan was...well, he knew that it was within him somewhere! He manuvered his energy through the insides of his very magical source as it became more and more hot. It was horrid, almost expectant of the heat of the sun itself, but he could take it...and the Phoenix song kept him going.
Then he reached it, the core of his very energy, the winds blew rapidly, but there was also a lake full of turbulent water and a large star burning its way across the land. Stepping forward and raising his hand toward the star, he shouted "Puros!" And, without question, he returned to reality, a tiny ball of red light similar to Aidana's was in his hand.
"Hum...I suppose we'll be needing an excursion to the library..."

Aidana was just beginning to think highly of the professor, when he said that he didn't know fire magic at all. He was very near to her age, wasn't he? She shouldn't have expected too much out of him. But he was still her mentor though, and she respected him immensely. How many other professors would volunteer their time and efforts to teach a student advanced and very dangerous magic. Not very many, she knew that. Aidana looked up at him and smiled. This professor would be like a friend, a very powerful friend, but a friend still.
She watched him, as he tried to summon his fire energy. It was very different from the time he had summoned his wind. This time she could see that he was concentrating very hard. She wondered if it reminded him of the first time he had summoned his wind magic five years ago. A few moments later, a tiny ball of red light appeared in his hands, just like it had appeared in hers. He seemed quite pleased with himself.
" The library would be a good place to go," she agreed. " Well, this will certainly be interesting won't it Professor? If you have to learn fire magic with me. How did you mentor do it, besides the paperwork I mean. So then if you master fire, can you wield lightning?"

"Indeed it will," he muttered, though very quietly. He looked over in a frightened stare at the Phoenix who sat in the corner, staring at him unblinking with his strange eyes. He nodded to Trajan, and the Phoenix, though with a lot of effort, nodded back. Seemingly impossible in such health, Trajan flapped its wings and flew over to Talon. It perched itself on his shoulder.
"Indeed," he said, petting the Phoenix on the head, "It will." He turned back to face Aidana, and nodded. "My mentor and I used to train through duels." He said, his memories coming back to him. "Though, of course, you and I can hardly summon our fire magics to use them in battle. What we need first, is what Sylph is about to do - complete the trials. The trials are simple, really, but they are a way to learn and control your magic, to the point where you can begin to fight.
"All we need - All that we need - is to get to that level before Danawi chooses to attack. Then, at the very least, you can use your magic to fight."

Aidana watched silently as Trajan flew over to Professor Windwaltz, and landed on his shoulder. He looked moments from bursting into flame, yet he still had the energy to fly. She thought he was an amazing bird, and phoenixes were fiercly loyal. No doubt that the connection between them was more than normal. She thought back to what the Professor had said. They would need to learn how to fight using only fire.
" How exactly are we supposed to do that?" she asked. " I feel that we don't have a lot of time. So, then do we read up like Sylph is doing? And complete the trails, whatever they are. It will take a lot more to master this magic, but we just don't have the time! If we complete the trials, as you said, then could we train in duels? That's really what I'm learning this magic for isn't it? For duels?"

"Heh, Aidana...you're right this time. That's exactly what I'm saying." He began to walk towards the stairwell leading toward the Owlery, his Phoenix on his shoulder, and turned once more to gaze upon the many owls who had witnessed this event. "Come then..." He motioned towards Aidana, "As you said, we do not have a lot of time, so we should hurry."
And out he went, Trajan in tow, towards the Library below.

Hm, Aidana had said she would be using her magic for duels, and he had approved of that. Not when she said she wanted to help people. Typical. But she nodded and followed him out of the Owlery. She saw him look over at the other owls, and looked at them herself. But there was something missing. Mercury, the hawk was strangely gone. Well nothing to worry about, she thought. He would turn up eventually.
Stepping out of the circular room, she followed the Professor to the Library.
