OOC: Preferrably Invite Only, for certain reasons (everyone in the Cabal/Resistance, know you can come in and talk amongst yourselves as well, I guess.. Just not loudly >< And don't knock anything over or mess with Dovie! It's important you know that!)
bic:
[glow=purple,2,300]Sish, sish...sish, sish...sish, sish... were the sounds echoing in the stairwell to the top of the Astronomy tower. A young woman, about 18, with long black hair and unusual brown clothing of deerhide made her way up he stairs, a rabbit fur bag clutched tightly by its fringe handles in one olive hand. The green-eyed girl reached the platform and stepped out onto the open-air rooftop. She said nothing as she moved to the center of the circular roof and placed a thick blanket down onto the cold, hard stone. She pulled out some colored candles, each one meaning something, and placed them in their correct order in front of her. If she did things right, she'd start at one, and end at another. Sure, her conscious mind might be gone for a long time tonight, but she'd be more sure of herself in battle the next day. Light smoke could suddenly be seen wafting in front of the kneeling figure, then a pipe appeared for a few moments before disappearing. The same smoke coninued drifting into the clouds, making shapes and figures along the way, so it couldn't have been the pipe, but another source instead. A strange, yet soothing mixture of scents were present, though most people wouldn't know what exactly they were unless they were an Indigenous person of the americas, like Dovie. She brought some of the smoke over her head, down her plaited hair, and to the ground a handful of times before stopping. At that moment, she sat still on her knees, her simple dress hugging her form as she made prayers and offerings. Once she was done, she did something quite indescribable before lapsing into complete silence. She was gone, now. Sure, her eyes were open at the moment, they;d son be closed, but she was gone, praying and preforming an old ceremony her mother taught her. She'd done a little of it before coming up here, and people wouldn't know what, so they couldn't use anything against her. When things were over, after a certain amount of time spent sightless, Dovie would come back, changed. She'd be sure of herself, confident, skilled... And if someone tried to pierce her with something, it would go right through her. That was, of course, after she came back, and only for a certain number of days afterward. Dovie's shell kneeled on the warm blanket, the firgid wind of the peculiar, hesitant night flapping her sleeves. She'd be there, a shell, for a long while...[/glow]

The Ravenclaw common room was peaceful, and nearly empty. It was too quiet for Teagan's taste. She brushed her hair free of all tangled strands, and more. She couldn't stand it any longer. Teagan put her hair brush away, and walked out of her dorm room. She was wearing another long sleeved shirt, and a pair of her favorite black shorts.
She drifted through the hallways, nearly a specter; her feet made no sound as they contacted the stone floor, and she was hardly noticeable. Teagan's flame-colored eyes stared her shoes as she walked; nothing appeared to need much of her attention.
Eventually making it to the tower, Teagan slowly walked up its stairs. There was no where else to really go, anyway. Her red hair intended to curl around her arms as she made the ascent. Holding her long, delicate fingers in front of her, Teagan opened the door to the top of the tower easily and without any sound being made.
She saw her friend Dovie sitting on a blanket in the middle of the floor. She was obviously in a trance; Teagan had gone into them before when helping friends back home do something. Occasionally, she had to posses them fully in order to get the job done, but it had been quite a while since her last trip. There were also candles releasing smells in the room to relax the mind. Teagan silently closed the door behind her, and walked over to the far side of the room they were in. Wanting no more than to be with friends, she quietly leaned against the railing and stared at the sky's cool weather before her. She had come to escape quiet, so she thought, but now she needed no more than that? I guess I must have just been lonely, Teagan quietly reasoned.
The wind blew her hair back behind her, and Teagan closed her eyes and bathed in it. It had been a long time since she could just be at complete ease with her mind and body. After a few minutes, the pain throbbing in her left arm faded away. She breathed deeply, and her body eased into complete harmony.

[glow=purple,2,300]Hours upon hours later - or it may have been days, she was unsure - Dovie woke. She made no movement, took no breath, but her emerald eyes had opened and were glowing, the black of her pupils and white of her eyes practically gone. She stayed that way for a long moment, eyes wide open and staring into nothingness, before she seemed to focus, her eyes still completely green, on the dancing flames of the candles in front of her and the smoke rising from a small pot laying at her knees. She had shifted position during her time, moving slightly from one candle to the next, and arriving - and awaking - at the one in the center. The smoke wafting up from the small pot in front of her stopped, and Dovie closed her eyes. The candles went out, no wind or anything present, and a low rumble could be heard in the sky. Dovie had received that which she had come for, and opened her eyes once more. Her eyes cleared, turning a dark forest green with flecks of golden yellow near the pupil, and she began to calmly - but deftly - clear her things up. She placed each piece a certain way and placed them in a medium-sized bag, tied off the top, and pick up the small pot from which the smoke had been drifting. Dovie spoke a small prayer in her native tongue, turning to each of the directions, before placing the pot and its contents into its own bag. She would need it later. She spoke in a calm, confidant matter as she picked up her bags and turned towards Teagan. "Many Thanks to you for staying with me during my time. I appreciated the company; it made it easier for me to make sure to return once I was done. You saved me once when I was over there because I was slightly aware of your presence. Again, thanks to you. You are more helpful than you know. Now, if I could employ your help a while longer....?" Dovie half-asked, half suggested as she turned towards the door. "I don't know where we'll go for this, it's very late at night... The Lake would be the best..." Dovie had half her body to the door and half to Teagan, waiting patiently. If she didn't want to go, she understood. She'd do it on her own, even though there would be so many of them...she could do it.[/glow]

A few hours later, Teagan estimated, Dovie awoke from her trance. It had become very dark outside. Teagan felt Dovie's presence as she came back, and reunited with her body.
Teagan quietly watched Dovie put away the candles, and other objects she had used for the ceremony. The incense, and the things that Teagan didn't know the name of were put in a bag. She simply watched as her red eyes pierced through the darkness. Dovie started to speak in a calm, refreshed voice.
"Many Thanks to you for staying with me during my time. I appreciated the company; it made it easier for me to make sure to return once I was done. You saved me once when I was over there because I was slightly aware of your presence. Again, thanks to you. You are more helpful than you know. Now, if I could employ your help a while longer....?" Dovie half-asked, half suggested as she turned toward the door.
"I don't know where we'll go for this, it's very late at night... The Lake would be the best..." Dovie had half her body to the door and half to Teagan, waiting patiently. If she didn't want to go, she understood. She'd do it on her own, even though there would be so many of them...she could do it.
"You're welcome, and of course, Dovie," came Teagan's reply. Her voice was simple, calm, and focused. Even though she had waited for quite a while, Teagan remained strong, if not stronger, and hadn't tired any noticeable amount. Teagan elegantly walked over to Dovie, her walk like a cat's, smooth and relaxed. Her feet settled to a stop and she stepped beside her friend.

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie gave a small, meaning for it to be warm but it coming out more..emotionless, more showing appreciation than anything else. "Good, I've changed my mind though. I'll do what I need to here, it would be more secure, and I can focus better than putting myself in danger at the lake, as well as the pouches. You see...I'm making small bundles for each person. Some basic things will go into each, and perhaps an extra thing here or there for certain people who I know better. And...I forgot I'd brought my things with me already..." Dovie turned and revealed a large bundle in a hidden corner of the balcony, wrapped in a black, red, white, and yellow blanket. "There are stones in there, bags to put them in, and a few things I use to burn for smudges. I'll put these things in a small leather pouch and tie it off, one for each member of the Resistance to give them strength. I need help putting the basic pieces in the pouches, like the stones, and I'll put in the different plants. I'll tie it a certain amount of times and smudge it afterwards. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it would be a great help to me..." Dovie had walked over to the bundle during the time she spoke and peeled it back to reveal different stones; quartzes, onyx, hematite...basic stones, but all protective. "They'll protect against energy sent out with negative intentions, if you understand what I mean..which I'm sure you do. You're very smart, Miss Teagan..." Dovie gave another slightly emotionless smile and turned back to the blanket to sit on the ground. She started pulling out small leather pouches with leather ties and laying them gently on the ground. She pulled out another batch of pouches and set them in a row on top of the blanket, placing the assorted things in a certain way she could tell what was where. "Far left is clear quartz, then rose quartz, white quartz, onyx, obsidian, hematite... And a few other things I'll put in myself that only the holders will know of... And the herbs.." Dovie leaned forward and pulled plastic bags from a far corner of the blanket. "..are here. I'll put each of these in as I see fit. I've requested a list from the leaders; I hope to get it soon..." Dovie turned her head, the wind tossing her black hair about her slim face, and looked into the sky as if awaiting a message.[/glow]

"Good, I've changed my mind though. I'll..."
Teagan listened quietly as Dovie told her what they were doing. It was a good idea: put an assortment of things together in small bags for the Resistance to wear when the fighting began. The items were there to help protect the wearer during the battle. Dovie had wanted her help to put some of the items in the small bags; it would take a while for one person to do, after all.
"They'll protect against energy sent out with negative intentions, if you understand what I mean..which I'm sure you do. You're very smart, Miss Teagan...," continued Dovie.
Teagan completely understood what Dovie meant. In fact, she could tell if someone nearby wanted to cause harm--any harm at all. This skill had saved her on a numerous amount of occasions. She didn't let the compliment distract her as Dovie finished explaining. When Dovie looked to see if a message would be arriving soon, Teagan looked out as well, though it was basically pointless because of the lack of light.
"Alright, Dovie. How do you want me to do this?" she asked calmly. She knew what they were going to do, but she didn't know specifically how they were going to put the rocks in bags, how much, ect. Though, it would help if the message was to come soon. Teagan waited for Dovie to continue and possibly start on the task she was working on.

[glow=purple,2,300]"Good, thank you very much, I appreciate all the help I can get. In the bags on the far left are different kinds of quartz. We'll start off making basic bags until I get the full list.." if Azrael decides to actually send it. "I don't know how many members there are total, but I'll make...25 to start off with. Sound about right? Like I said, basics first.. So if you can put in...hmm... The onyx, obsidian, and hematite, those three bags over there in the top row on the left, I'd be greatful. Onyx first, then hematite, then obsidian. The onyx is pitch black and matte, the hematite is the mirror-ish silver looking stone, and obsidian is black, but it shines. Is that alright with you? And I'll put in the clearer crystals over here. I know how to hold my own energy back from entering the crystals, which are most influential, so I think that should work..." Dovie turned and started on a bag for someone who had made a special request. She leaned over and pulled out some obsidian and onyx, placed it in the bag, and added a number of other stones before lighting something on fire in a small bowl. She let the smoke spill into the pouch, waving the bag over the bowl several times, before tying off the ends. Dovie muttered a quick "Avis," having a dove apear and then carry away the pouch. Sure, the dove would disappaear soon, but not before reaching its target.[/glow]

Teagan's blood-colored eyes followed the bird out. She looked back at Dovie. "Who was that for?" she asked, her soft voice silkily sled out of the quiet. The question was one of complete curiosity, she had always wanted to know everything when she was little, but now only held curiosity.
Teagan drifted down to the floor and opened up the bags the held the Onyx, Obsidian, and Hematite, but left them in their order. She sat on her knees by the rocks and empty bags. Her soft, delicate hands made their way to an empty one and she quickly and soundlessly placed one each of the Onyx, Hematite, and Obsidian in the bag. Her skills were nearly flawless, and her placement precise. The pouch became sealed, and lied back in its place on the floor, though slightly bulging instead of flat. After it, two more quickly matched the first. Teagan glanced toward the bird. Her hands continued working like machines at a factory, even though she wasn't looking at what she was doing, and easily doubled the number of of bags with the Onyx, Obsidian, and Hematite. All of the bags she put rocks in all had been done in the same order, whether her eyes were on them or not.

[glow=purple,2,300]"Special request, can't say yet. You'll find out soon enough, I'm sure..." Dovie spoke succinctly as she continued working on the other pouches. She finished several, saying "Avis" after each one and flying them off. She finished all of the pouches she knew of, a large handful left unfinished for lack of a list, and decided to tie them up for the time being and wait patiently. "I can finish these another time, I guess..." Dovie spoke sadly as she stood up from the hard floor and offered her hand out for Teagan. "I am glad for your help, Teagan. It is much appreciated." She looked down at the blanket and back in the sky, waiting. Just...waiting. She gave a small sigh, staring out at the crescent moon and white, twinkling stars. "Here is yours, Teagan. I set it aside once I was done with it..." Teagan handed the leathery pouch to the redhead and held out her hand, softly clutching the bag. "It's already yours, made just for you, and nobody else. It will work for nobody else, and it will protect you..basically...for the rest of your life. Take good care of it." Dovie's face showed she was caught between wanting to smile for being able to protect those she cared for, and a grimace for the fact that she was having to do something to protect them. She shouldn't have to, nobody should. This evil shouldn't even be gathering how it was, and that thought alone haunted Dovie. She faultered, and a slight frown, more of a pucker, formed on her face, showing her distaste for what was happening. "You can leave now. I'm sure you're very tired. I appreciate the help, I'll clean up on my own if you wish to leave..." Dovie turned to look out at the sky over the lake again, the same look staying on her face, and the moon...it was casting such a tearful light onto the diamonds in the lake, and the wind gave a sad howl before whispering in the boughs of the trees, the leaves rustling with sadness and excitement. Dovie's jaw was set hard and a pain could be seen in her eyes, the only time it would show. Her heart was breaking, and she was hiding it from everyone around her. All the more reason to fight...[/glow]

After finally finishing the bags, Teagan coolly stretched out her skilled fingers. Dovie held down her hand, and Teagan gratefully took it and stood up. She gently took the pouch that was given to her, and peeked inside. She blushed lightly, and closed the bag.
"It's already yours, made just for you, and nobody else. It will work for nobody else, and it will protect you.. basically... for the rest of your life. Take good care of it." Dovie's face showed she was caught between wanting to smile for being able to protect those she cared for, and a grimace for the fact that she was having to do something to protect them.
"Dovie....," said Teagan quietly. She was impressed by the job done, but other things were more important. Dovie's expression was a grimace of dislike and worry. "I can stay," she said simply. She was calm and controlled. Having been through too much, she wouldn't be as upset and tearful as Dovie. After getting the people closest to you killed, that just didn't happen.
Teagan's russet gaze marveled in confidence, and was the "Everything will be okay. You can trust me" look. "Dovie, I'll be fine." The thing that set it apart was it wasn't just a look to get someone to relax; it was true, which made it all the more realistic. Fighting, unfortunately, was something she was quite good at, having practiced on her cousins and her cousins on her--they weren't the best family.
Dovie was extremely upset. "I'm here for you. Your worries won't bother me, so you can go ahead wine," said Teagan simply. Using a tender hand, she brushed some of her smooth, red hair behind her ear. "And thanks a lot." Her hand tightly gripped onto the pouch in her hand. It will only work for me, and no one else...

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie could feel Teagan's experiences in her very own being, and knew that Teagan was strong. She'd been through the same things...and much, much worse, but precious life still moved her to tears. She wasn't weak, she just cared for everyone and everything on this living earth, and wished and prayed for everyone and everything to be alright. She hadn't meant to come across as weak, whiney, or, well, anything of the sort. She was just...understanding that there had to be balance...between both light and darkness. She took in ragged, steadying breaths as her glinting, tearful eyes skimmed the top of the water and lifted to the stars. She knew what she was, who she was... A pawn for Power. She wasn't powerful, power worked through her. Power used her, not the other way around. That was one thing the darkness would never understand, was that they were being used themselves. They thought they had it so grand... Wait until their ideals came crashing down and they saw the truth. That they, too, were pawns... All pawns in a grand scheme to bring about balance, retribution, and restoration. She was in the same position as them... Dovie walked dazedly to the blankets gathered in the center and tied the corners together before slinging the enormous pack over her right shoulder. "That's it, I'm basically done. I have done more than I should have tonight, and I'm a bit tired. I should rest before continuing on with the packs. I'll come up again another night and finish them. I know this seems like the most vulnerable place...but it realy is the most secure for someone like me." Someone like me... Dovie thought to herself. She longed to go to Canada at that particular moment, to talk to someone...someone like Agnes, the woman she'd heard about. She longed so desperately to be around someone of Power at the moment that it crushed her lungs and her heart, and she felt as if she couldn't breathe. Tears welled into the outside corners of her eyes, pure glistening crystals on the brink of slipping down the dark silk that was her skin and dripping silently onto the softness that was her sueded deerhide dress. Then it struck her. The perfect image of the boy that had been in her dreams for so long came out of her mind, and she could feel his spirit. He was so pure, so beautiful..so, so pure... Lightning cracked loudly as if from her heart and an immediate sheet of rain drenched the entire tower, coming directly from Dovie's deepest emotions. She longed to touch him, to feel his light envelop her and cover her from head to toe. He always was the purest form of light she'd ever seen, and she fell to her knees, her pack slipping from her right hand as her left one covered her mouth and she let out heartbreaking sobs. All of this in a split second; the lightning, rain, and Dovie crying. She was heedless of Teagan's prescence as she cried for the boy's beauty and light. He was Power, in it's truest form, and his purity and strength had brought her to tears. He'd been coming in her dreams for a long time now, and she longed so deeply to be with him... Her mentor had said he was Power, her Guide back to the Ancestors, he was showing her the way, and that her longing and her love for him had shown her devotion to her culture...and to Power. She always cried when she saw him, because she loved him so much...loved what he represented and how he had been helping her, and she was doing it again. She was blind to, and because of, the heavy rain around her; she couldn't even hardly see Teagan's small form with the rain seemingly coming from the stars. She'd observed how they'd looked on the edge of tears earlier...oh how she'd been right. Everything was grayed from the downpour, and still Dovie sat on the groun crying for his beauty. She only wished her love of him, what he stood for, would guide her the right way...[/glow]

"That's it, I'm basically done. I have done more than I should have tonight, and I'm a bit tired. I should rest before continuing on with the packs. I'll come up again another night and finish them. I know this seems like the most vulnerable place...but it really is the most secure for someone like me," said Dovie.
Someone like me? Teagan questioned. She noticed everything possible in order to understand something. Her intent was that nothing got by her. She always wanted to have the upper hand in a situation, if necessary, but Teagan remained quiet as Dovie said this. It was normal, for the most part.
A great desire, and sadness flooded through Dovie's smooth, dark face. Droplets of tears silently fell through her features, and on to the cool floor. She seemed to be fumbling with confused emotions.
A bolt of lightening lit op the dark night sky as it unanimously began to flood the outside ground. Dovie dropped to the ground, and crying broke the odd quiet.
She yearned for something, Teagan realized. What for, it must have been great and unselfish; Dovie wasn't a greedy, jealous person. She seemed to be wrenched in the deepest thought, as emotions were building up and tearing through.
To leave or to stay? Teagan had already said she'd stay. Teagan allowed red frolics of hair to slyly hang from her face. In this darkness, it wouldn't help to rearrange them, anyway. The soft clothes that draped her around her frame swayed in the wind from the eager storm. Noiselessly, Teagan settled on the floor beside Dovie, and interlocked her tender ankles. The soft stone was warming with the moisture filtering the air.
The fourteen year old invoked her senses. Teagan rather liked the weather, even though it had rained quite often lately. Also, she was getting many sleepless nights while... doing other things, though fatigue remained non-existent and her muscles were fully relaxed. No tension was on her shoulders or weighing herself down anywhere; Teagan was used to it. She always tried to be in top form in order to succeed, though it was often unnecessary. Teagan made it a habit to use. Good posture was often helpful.
Tears released the extra chemicals of emotions from your body. It was good to cry, and often refreshed you and your senses. After Dovie would get better, only then would things be finished. She quietly waited for her friend to lessen the painful chemicals that clotted the thoughts and judgment. She'd be happier afterword.
A soft breeze flew through Teagan's hair, and between her clothes and flesh. She was going to stay.

[glow=purple,2,300]What is wrong with me, why can't I stand on my own..? Dovie thought as she sobbed quietly, wishing very much she could stop, and hoping with all of her heart that Teagan didn't find her childish for her heartbreak. Her vision blurred in the rain, and all she could see was a haze... She was taken back to her village when she was younger...[/glow]
A little girl came jogging into a small village of thatch-roofed huts, her black hair glued in curls to her forehead and neck as she panted slightly, mud on her foot coverings from exploring the surrounding jungle. The tribe had camped there on their journey to their summer camp at Falling Leaf Spring. "Oh, there you are, Granddaughter! I had been wondering where you'd run off to." An old woman with gray hair spoke as she turned, hobbling towards the girl with a walking stick, lines of worry etched deeply into her face. "I was out in the forest! It's so hot and damp today... I wonder if the turtles feel the same way in the green water of the swamps." the little girl spoke excitedly at first, and then had a look of curiousity in her eyes. "I bet the fish aren't hot, though! It's nice and cool in the water!" A joyful tone laced her voice, glee showing through her pearly white, albeit toothy, smile. "Yes, well...wait, you went swimming!? Dovie, how many times have I told you it's not safe? There could be alligators! Or worse.." the grandmother bent down to whisper. "There could have been wariors. Hiding, and waiting for you!" She stood back up and threw her hands in the air in an exciteable gesture. "And you know that!" Grandmother heaved a sigh, not willing to talk much more in the blazing sun as she turned and hobbled towards a make-shift hut towards the other end of the small village. Dovie lowered her eyes and followed obediently, knowing her Grandmother's words were all too true. Other tribes, especially one southeast of them, had been trying very hard to steal her from her Nation. She wasn't too sure at the moment as to why, either, though she knew it had something to do with what clan she was from, and some of the things she did on an everyday basis. Like talking to fish... And bringing rain, but that happened when she didn't concentrate usually. They reached the shelter, and Grandmother motioned for Dovie to sit. She quietly crossed her legs, her short tunic coming just above her knees as she did so, and sat carefully on the hand-tied twig mat that covered the dirt ground. It had rained in the jungle the day before, and the ground in the wide open spaces had dried enough to sit, but they still used mats so they wouldn't get dirty. Just as Dovie started to relax under the shade, her brother poked his head through the brush outside of their shelter and motioned for her to be quiet. He was the reason why she was in so much trouble in the first place! It had been his idea to go out and explore... And go swimming... "Now.." Grandmother's ancient voice seemed to echo in Dovie's mind, and she turned her head to look at her. "I know you don't like hiding, but...Sometimes we have to hide. Think of it like how you play with your brother..." Playing with my brother..Oh, joy...Right...Speaking of which... Dovie turned her hed to see her brother still hiding in the brush. She caught his eye and made a slight face that let him know he was in for it once she was done being lectured. Her Grandmother poured some tea and Dovie drank, her throat completely dry from running earlier, and was greatful. Her Grandmother lectured her about how the clan needed her to stay hidden, and not get kidnapped. It had grown dark before Dovie was released to her Mother's shelter, and she saw her brother there eating all of the fish she'd helped catch for a stew earlier that very day. She would have gotten mad, and she did for a brief moment, but knew that if it was meant for him to eat, then she should let it be. She walked over calmly and set herself down next to her brother. "Heyo, where ya ben sis? I was waiting for you when we came back! Where'd you run off to?" Dovie's jaw drop and she let out a cry of disbelief. "Right, I'm sure! You were right behind me until we came up to the edge of the forest! You ran off afte that and left me there! You didn't even say anything!" "I guess you need something to help you hear, you must be getting old! I called out to you several times that I saw this really cool bird that had just died and left all its feathers, but you just walked off..." Dovie let out another short cry of indignation, crossed her arms, set her jaw, closed her eyes, and lifted her chin. She sat cross-legged like that, looking completely offended, until her mother came over and set a small bowl of soup down in front of her. "Eat, dear... We'll be going on our walk tonight..." Dovie opened her eyes and slowly looked up at her mother. Her brother knew they went on walks to visit someone, but he didn't know who, and never asked. At the moment, he had his head cocked to the side and a look of wonder on his face as he sipped up some broth and shoveled some fish into his small mouth. She blinked a few times, picked up her bowl, and drank just a bit before sliding it back t her older growing brother. His shoulders had become broader ver the past few moons, and he'd soon become a man...and get married to live on his own. This might be one of the last times she'd get to share things with him like this, so she gave a small smile as her brother looked at her before drinking the last of the broth. Dovie was small, always would be, and didn't need as much food as her brother did. She leaned over to hug her brother as her mother gathered some packs of dried meat and venison for the tiresome walk to her Grandmother's Mother's shelter... Way, way out by the falls, overlooking the cliff that plunged into the ocean. [Glow=purple2,300]The walk had been long, and very hard, especially going uphill in the dead of night when Bobcat's cries sounded like a woman's pain-laced screeches. But Dovie knew better, and kept moving, kept walking. She quietly sang a song that helped to keep her calm on the way over, and had done her fair share of Singing when she arrived. Her Grandmother's Mother had taught her many great things over the next few years, but Dovie had still been ignorant to many things..like how Power affected people. And how people liked to abuse their gift of Power, and do dark things with it.. Like shape-shifting into an animal, or witching someone... her Grandmother's Mother had also taught her how to take someone else's pain upon herself, and then release it so they didn't hurt anymore... And that was something Dovie had practically mastered. It was easy for her to do, seeing as how she always counseled everyone around her. Major things had happened; her brother had become a warrior - he became well-known for his intellect, protecting nature, and ability to go unheard into enemy territories - and still was, and her mother..well, her mother had gone off to help her own Grandmother, and preferred to stay in the background over being noticed by many but had, however, become a very wise elder on the councel. After many attempts on her life in the jungle - and the cities - Dovie had come here, and not even a month ago had been told by her Grandmother's Mother what she was finally ready for in a small vision. And now, here she was... Dovie Bell, the one on the top of the tower crying and getting sick in the rain. All because she still cried about life... precious, precious life. It would always move her to tears, just like it had when... Crrrrrrack! Lightning hit a tree by the lake and it jolted Dovie from her thoughts. She could smell the ashy remains of an oak tree, and saw smoke rising from its branches. She felt absolutely awful now. A tree had died, had given its precious life, because she was upset over the coming darkness.. And now, now... Go get that bark, you fool! "Aaah!" Dovie hadn't been able to catch herself before yelping at her Great Grandmother's voice in her mind. What's wrong with you? You know you need that for.. Her voice trailed off after barking orders and lecturing Dovie for a moment. Dovie stood, took in a deep breath and quickly exhaled it before picking up her pack and slinging it over her right shoulder. "I'm sorry...I should not have acted like that, especially not in front of..." Dovie turned her remorseful eyes onto Teagan and looked back at the door with a hard stare. "I should be going, I'm greatful for your help. I'll have to repay you someday..." Dovie's voice grew soft as she spoke the last few words and held out her hand. She pulled Tegan up again, the rain not as hard as it had been earlier, and walked over to the door. She held it open and waited for Teagan to pass through. She had to go get that bark...[/glow]

Teagan quietly remained by her friend as simple tears, and painful memories broke through the everlasting quiet. She gently closed her eyes in order to see what Dovie was seeing without distractions. Rain and lightning were quite the attention gatherers. Emotions were already easily felt; Dovie hadn't bothered trying to smother them.
Teagan watched carefully as the scene unfolded, and fluttered into her mind. After a few minutes, Dovie's thoughts became broken up from lightning along with a grouchy voice, the one of her grandmother, and Teagan re-opened her eyes. She didn't want Dovie to notice her short un-depthic travel. Luckily, her apathy kept her presence unnoticed. It was normal for her, but a very useful tool.
Her red eyes moved over to her companion and slowly followed her as she shifted her body weight in order to stand up. The little scream she had let out earlier because of her message had been made because of renewed motivation, though rather startling motivation.
"I'm sorry... I should not have acted like that, especially not in front of..." Dovie's voice trailed off. What had she meant to say? "I should be going, I'm grateful for your help. I'll have to repay you someday..." Teagan gently touched her hand as Dovie attempted to pull her to her feet. Though she graceful stood, Teagan hadn't pressed any weight onto her friend; the help had only been a mere touch.
Dovie had insinuated something about Teagan. Though slightly irked, she kept calm and held her emotions back, careful not to show anything. She quietly watched as Dovie quickly walked to the door. After hearing a voice yell something about getting that bark, Teagan understood what she was trying to do: ditch her, and then gather the bark. What the bark was for, Teagan had not been connected to her friend's thoughts long enough to be sure of. As Dovie had begun to pay better attention, Teagan had to ease herself out. Fortunately, her skills remained precise, and Dovie hadn't noticed anything as she put on her shield.
Teagan quietly watched Dovie and her anxious look. "Dovie," came her soft voice from the shadows, "I'm still repaying you for your help, so you owe me nothing." Odd enough, the stones would be far more helpful for Teagan than her friend could probably guess. "Where are you off to in such a hurry, anyway?" Her manipulative eyes held traces of a faint curiosity as she asked this question. It was odd that Dovie had stood up so abruptly, and gone to the door without a second thought.

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie's glazed-over eyes slowly, but gracefully, moved over the wet stone tiles that made the ground atop the hollow stairwell below her feet. She moved her eyes to Teagan, slowly going over the girl's small features, her eyes watering at the innocence inside this girl. She knew what the girl's thoughts were; she couldn't blame her for being curious. "I have to collect something by the lake," Dovie nodded towards the lake, mainly the charcoal-blackened tree, a slightly grim look on her face. "I would prefer if you didn't follow, but...I can't stop you. I have to leave now, though... Your choice. If you want to come along, keep up my pace or you could get hurt. Weather like this entices the most vile of creatures out..." Dovie's face had gone rock solid, her features appearing stronger and more angular than they usually were. She looked...well...like a real, adult woman now, instead of her rounded features that made her appear child-like before. Her hair, instead of hangin in her face like it usually did when it was down, was parted neatly down the middle and stuck to the flat top of her head. The black-haired woman in front of Teagan turned clockwise swiftly and swept the blanket and its contents off the ground in one swift motion. She stood firmly in her mocassins for a single moment to be sure of her balance before heading towards the door of the tower, the hids pack bundled softly against her deerhide covered back as she readied to move down the stairs. Follow at your own risk, girl...[/glow]
