Hayzie’s eyes narrowed to a near glare as Ace slammed the doors to the Great Hall open. She was still a little shocked behind the confident look that Kiki had threatened her, but inside she knew this wasn’t the real Kiki. The blonde girl also noticed how the Head Girl hadn’t answered the question about the bracelet.
Her glare still firmly fixed on the two before her, Hayz remembered what Branwen had told her about the Vampire King. How he had nearly killed her in the Graveyard along with Kaiser and a cold chill swept through the lycan girl. Taking a single step backwards, she knew there would be no point in arguing with Ace himself and so she decided to stay silent and wait and see what would happen next.

Kiki saw the smirks appear on the faces of the group in front of her, but honestly didn't care. She had forgotten how much warmth Ace could radiate when she was so close to him like this, even if he was a Vampire.
"I'm perfectly fine, these girls seem to have a problem though."

Without realising it, something inside Hayzie snapped, like part of a pully snapping, and the weight falling to the floor creating a feeling of near anger.
"We seem to have a problem?" she asked, an eyebrow raised. Somehow despite the anger that had just started boiling inside her, the blonde girl forced herself to remain calm, she couldn't lose her temper. It would only turn out bad if she did.
"I think you're the one with the problem, Kiki. We're not the ones threatening everyone else and if you'd just take off that stupid bracelet, then maybe we'd get the old Kiki back!"
Hayzie looked around the rest of the group, hoping for some backup to the statement she had just made.

Unwillingly taken aback, Ace's piercing gaze swept down to the silver bracelet that was on Kiki's arm. Odd, he had never noticed it previously... but come to think of it, come to think of it... she had even been wearing it when they had been in the Prefect's Bath...
He met Hayzie's gaze defiantly. Clearly they all thought he was some kind of killer. Well, yes, he was... but not the students. He had a good position here in this school, why would he knowingly jeopardise that?
He simply tightened his grip on Kiki's slender frame, amazed by the amount of heat that they could radiate together.

Kiki smirked slightly.
"Ah, lowering ourselves to insults to jewelry are we? Interesting. The bracelet is a family heirloom, I have no intention of taking it off."

Hayzie unvoluntarily flinched a little as Ace's green gaze met her own. She couldn't help it. But she had also noticed how his eyes had flitted down to the bracelet with an almost confused look. Maybe he hadn't been the one to attatch the bracelet after all...
Shaking her head a little, she turned back to look at Kiki. "Lowering myself to insults about jewellry? It's quite funny how low you think others have become lately, Ki. And if it's a family heirloom, why did you never wear it before? And why is it once you've started wearing it, you've changed for the worst?"
Her gaze was once again slightly narrowed as she looked at the tall girl. Stubborness had won over weakness again and now she had started, it would take the blonde girl a while to stop asking questions - in fact, she'd try not to stop until she had answers.

"Such the inquistive one, aren't we?" Kiki asked, a somewhat dark laugh playing through her words.
"So many answers wanted," Kiki changed her train of thought mid-sentence, "But did you not think that I would be different after dying?"

“There’s no return from death,” Hayzie almost whispered. How was it that people like this came back from the dead, yet Maria hadn’t. But maybe her sister would have ended up like this too, worse than she was before. The slight blonde girl shivered a little as the flashbacks came to her, not for the first time this week.
“And if you don’t be inquisitive, then you’re knowledge is limited.” As she spoke these words, it was evident something had got to her with what Kiki had said about dying, and no matter how much she tried to hide it, it was still there.
“So, are you going to answer? Or carry on being awkward and stubborn?”

Ace tried to stop the grin that desperately tried to surface after Kiki mentioned her death - it was funny how these things worked, really. One day Ace slaughters the Head Girl, and a month later and they're... what? Not a couple, not really... caught in a very fiery relationship, both of them hopelessly enthralled by the others' passion, sparking off each other in a spectacular way.
"Everyone is altered slightly after they return from the land of the Dead," said Ace, speaking up for the first time since his arrival. He knew nobody would question him on this matter; he, better than anyone, knew Death. "Even if just on a very basic molecular level... it can change things. Sometimes for the better." He smiled.

“Altered slightly?” Hayzie almost laughed. Couldn’t he see that the change that had been made in Kiki was more than just slight. In fact, they had an entirely different person standing before them. Not the one who would come into the Gryffindor common room joking with one of the portraits or helping younger students with homework. This stranger standing there was the one who would be able to scare younger students out of a room just by looking at them and would throw insults to any portraits that even attempted conversing with her.
“Surely you can’t tell me you think this change is for the better?” Hayz asked Ace, trying not too meet his gaze again, but instead choosing to look a little higher than his eyes.

A slow grin spread across Kiki's face.
"Ah, something haunts Hayzie's past...I wonder what this could be?" Kiki drew her body in closer to Ace's and linked her left hand fingers over the top of his clasped ones, her right still holding her wand, although now it was pointing down.

Ace buried his head in the nook between Kiki's head and her shoulder, grinning slightly as he murmured in her ear, "Now now, love... be nice."
He noticed Hayzie's unwillingness to meet his gaze - it didn't surprise him, his eyes had that effect on most people. Still, he looked at her and spoke carefully, as though he chose every word with total precision.
"It may not be the best for you, Hayzie, but it seems to have worked out quite well for me..." he said with a grin. "And besides - surely if Kiki is happy, then you should be happy for your friend? I'm not an expert on relationships, but that is the way friendships work, am I correct?" He grinned playfully.

Hayzie’s eyes opened wider than normal at what Kiki said. Shaking her head, she answered, “Nothing haunts Hayzie’s… I mean… my past.” Her voice was once again quiet and slightly shaky, but she refused to let any other emotion regarding this show to anyone else in the hall. And that was the second time in the past few days she had spoken about herself in the wrong tense. It always happened when she was nervous or confused.
Looking back in Ace’s direction as he spoke, Hayz knew he had her cornered, Ace probably knew this too. That was the way friendships worked. But if Kiki was hiding behind a mask of evilness, surely it wasn’t the same… It couldn’t be the same. The blonde girl was about to open her mouth and answer back, but that was until she noticed Kiki had her wand back in her hand – plus what she was going to say probably made no sense any way and so, she looked back towards the ground, biting her lip as she did so.

A smile spread across Kiki's face as Ace murmured in her ear. Tingles danced along her spine and she turned back to Hayzie, whom perhaps, in a deep well and truly covered part of her currently stone heart she pitied, for her friends seemed to be trying to find a solution to what was happening rather than do anything about it. She couldn't feel it, however.
"Regretting your little oubursts now are we?" Kiki asked, her eyes glinting maliciously. 'I thought as much. It seems strange then, if we are all equal, as Sapphira claimed before, why should the two of us appear so intimidating to you?"

"I have an idea why I might," said Ace, his wide grin revealing his two shining fangs, their sharp points evident in the light that poured in through the great stained glass windows around the hall.
