So, when did you pick up the first book? I happen to be the first option - I still remember (sadly enough). My mom is in the bowling league, and every year, they take a trip somewhere. Sometimes she brings my family back presents, and one year, she brought back the first book for me. It's kinda ironic, because she's like "I saw this at the bookstore, but I don't know if it's any good," or something like that - and now they're huge! ...lol ANYway...

I had heard of them, but it didn't even occur to me that the book might be good. My grandma bought me the first three, because she's always buying them for me. But when I read the description I thought it was so weird.
When I started reading the actual book, however, I couldn't put it down. I got in trouble for being up at midnight reading it.
And then I spent about 6 hours straight finishing it the next day.

Heh. I have a weird story to go along with mine.
I was at the mall with my friends, and some Christians were sitting there talking about how the book was from hell. My friends and I sat at a table behind them, making fun of them. Then, the next day, my mom brought one home and said, "Here. I got you a book. Read it and be quiet so I can watch my show." (No joking, she said that.) I took one look at it and said, "Wow. It's the demon book." She gave me a weird look, but I read it anyways. And loved it.
So, I choose numbah two.

In Fourth Grade, for Halloween, James Cutler (A classmate) asked Mrs. Weissinger my fourth grade teacher if we could perform the play 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'. We auditioned, and he was absolutely sure he would get Harry, but guess who got the part?
(Three Guesses)
Me, Me, Me.
Anyway, after we did the play, Mrs. Weissinger started reading us the Book in Class. I, however, wanted to get a jump start, so I bought 'Chamber of Secrets'. It was around the time Prisoner of Azkaban JUST came out, yet the mania didn't start until just before Goblet of Fire came out, I suppose.
So I chose Number Two as well. I never ACTUALLY read the First One. Good thing too, I always found that book to be the most boring. I had the First Book read TO me.

I picked number one because no one really did know about it except my school librarian so...
I remember in grade seven my teacher said that a few of us should pick up the Harry Potter books at the book fair because according to Mrs. Bailey (librarian) they were really good. Unfortunately, I never payed any attention to him because I wasn't much interested at the time.
However I think my family was in Vancouver for a concert one time and we went shopping at one of the bigger malls. I went with my mum and my brother went with my dad and when we met up, Mason (my brother) had HP and the PS and everything started from there. He never actually read it though until I did, and convinced him it was worth it. Silly boy. (I still don't think he's read OotP)
yeeeeeah so that's my story ;D

Grade Seven? And you're in 11th now, Starling? That would mean we started reading them at the same time, 'cause I first read HP in 4th, and I'm in 8th...and about to go into 9th.
I just checked the 'Book Covers' section...the UK, Australia, and Canada have such WEIRD book covers. Hehehe.
