Okay, how much do you all love me?
-gets big ego- ^^
Um... yesh. I finished early. My apologies if Sealla and Vivian are stightly.... not themselves? I don't write like Annette Curtis Klause and I don't write like Celeste, hence my take on the characters is slightly different. ^_^ Anyway, enjoy.
---------------
Morning came too swiftly.
Aches jumped up and down Vivan's spine as she groaned and rolled over in bed, her bleary eyes looking at the clock. Nearly noon; but that wasn't much of a surprise. She had fallen into bed just about nine hours ago, after getting home from the little escapade at the pond. From what she could tell, Gabriel had left early that morning without even saying goodbye.
She knew he would be back, however. He always came back after they fought like this and she always admitted to being the one who was wrong. Wrong for not cleaning up the mess his friends had left behind, wrong for leaving without telling him she was, wrong for not doing all the laundry. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
Sighing, she flopped back down on her pillow and closed her eyes again. Sunlight spilled through the half-opened blinds, forcing her eyes back open again. Growling in an almost wolfish way, she rolled over and buried her head in the pillow as a substitute. The tears just wouldn't come- there was nothing left to cry for.
"In the mood for a visitor?" A voice called from the doorway. Vivian jerked her head out of the pillow quickly, realizing that she hadn't even heard anyone come in. Brushing her hair into something resembling a normal hairstyle, she sat up in bed and blearily stared towards the figure that had spoken.
It was Sealla. Honestly, she wasn't that surprised that the older girl had stopped by to see her, considering the events of last night. Gabriel had been absolutely livid with rage. Situations like that could be downright dangerous, though she was sure that the man would never lay a finger on her.
"Yeah, I guess I am." She replied, pushing away the covers and showing off her mud and grass stained pajama pants. After getting home the night before, she had decided not to shower and had rather tumbled into bed alone. The whole room had smelled like Gabriel's cologne and she found herself almost missing him. But not now- she had once again realized how her life had changed after they had been married.
"You okay?" Sealla asked, making her way over to the edge of the bed and then sitting down next to her. She sighed and leaned against the older werewolf. Hadn't she figured out the truth by now?
"Yes. I mean, I think I am. I kind of am…" She said quietly, not sure if she should confide in someone that she really hadn't known for too long. "I'd rather not talk about it, really. But… thanks for coming." Just having her sitting there was reassuring, in a sisterly way.
"Well… that's fine. I'm not going to push you into saying anything." She said with a smile, wrapping one arm around the younger girl. "But… do you have any idea who that white wolf was? I got the feeling that he knew you, somehow… like he was trying to protect you."
Vivian sighed. That question had been one that she had been turning over and over in her mind all night long- but she couldn't come up with even an idea of who it was. The wolf hadn't looked like anyone from her own pack and she would have certainly known if there was another pack in the area. So who was he?
He had looked so familiar to her, like someone who she'd met before but never fully remembered. Maybe he was from a dream, a mysterious savior who she'd never met. But no… she had memories of someone just like him. Of a time before Gabriel, when she used to be independent and free, when they used to live on the farm and be happy together as a pack and as a family.
"No, can't say I do…" She murmured, getting up from the bed and quickly jumping into a pair of tight fitting blue jeans. "I've been thinking about it though. Do you have any ideas?" Sighing, she reached for her hairbrush and began to force it through her matted hair. A few twigs and leaves fell out, along with a few clumps of hair and dirt. Great, this was exactly the kind of hair she wanted to wake up to.
"No, I've never seen him before." Sealla answered, watching with one eyebrow raised as she dragged the hairbrush forcefully through her knotted hair. The room was eerily quiet for a few moments, with only the sound of hair being pulled and straightened out echoing off the plaster walls.
"I think he'll come back." Vivan said, her voice low at first and then gradually beginning to rise in volume. "No, I know he'll come back. I get the feeling he wants me to know who he is. Otherwise why would he have sought me out at the pond? He winked at me! I just know he's going to be back."
Sealla chuckled- she seemed so sure of this that the other girl didn't dare to question it. Vivian's faith in this mysterious wolf was puzzling, but not entirely. What kind of woman didn't hope that someday a stranger would come and sweep her completely off her own two feet? And, after all, dreams were free.
"Well, just tell me if he ever shows up again." She said with a small wink of her own. "I'd like to meet this man of yours." Now it was Vivian's turn to chuckle. Sealla seemed to know everything, something she was very grateful for. But her mind suddenly shifted- she had come here wanting to know if she was okay, but what about her and Xavier?
"I promise I will." Vivian replied, finally working the last of the tangles from her hair and then turning around. "How are you doing, anyway? I'm so sorry that Gabriel attacked you like that. It was wrong of me to leave in the middle of the night, so I can understand why he was so angry…"
Her voice slowly trailed off as she made her way back over to the bed, curling up next to Sealla once more. The girl couldn't understand why Vivian thought that she was the one who had made Gabriel so angry- how could someone try to control her like that? It was just so strange..
"I'm fine. So is Xavier- he's still at home sleeping." She said with a small giggle. "You know how much he loves that. But thanks for asking… I'm afraid I've got to go now." Sealla gave Vivian one last hug before making her way to the doorway once more, carefully maneuvering around the various piles of dirty laundry and various knick-knacks.
"Take care, okay?" She said, one hand on the doorframe as she turned around to look back at Vivian. Naturally, Vivian nodded and gave a small wave, watching the other werewolf disappear around the corner and then hearing the whir of her car being started up.
Sighing deeply, she threw herself back into her pillow. Questions floated through her mind; Sealla's visit had only raised even more of them. But there was nothing she could do about it. She didn't even know where to begin to look for the strange wolf.
So the only thing she could do was wait.
