INVITE ONLY! Lycans and our "honored guests" are only allowed to post here.
IC:
Another quiet evening in the Tunnels...too quiet.
Xavier sat in his plush leather chair in the main chamber, quietly reading his newest book, the recently updated version of War and Peace. Before him laid Kage's two pups, Cealla and Alissa. He had no idea where Kage was, but he was sure to turn up eventually. Something didn't feel right, however. The wind...the usual breeze that softly flitted through the many halls of the Tunnels seemed unusually still. Xavier couldn't hear the soft calls of the many animals within the nearby forest. Something was happening...something he didn't know about..and it frightened him.
In front of the crackling fire, Cealla and Alissa played their childish games of whatever pleased them that evening. Sean sat over next to the elder Lycan's chair, reading his own picture book. Several other Lycans, most of which he knew, sat around in either form, eating, sleeping, or just plain sitting there. There must have been around eight or so.
Xavier smiled at his two granddaughters, who momentarily looked up and him and smiled back. Xavier then looked down at his son and patted his head lovingly. Young life was so precious, such a thing to be protected with all of your heart and soul....so why tonight did he feel that he shouldn't leave their side?
Xavier shrugged. It was probably just him being nervous over one thing or another. Still...it was best to be prepared.
Dog-earing his page, Xavier put down the thickly-bound novel and placed it on the table beside him before kneeling down in front of the fire by the two girls.
"Cealla, Alissa, keep a sharp eye out tonight, ok? I'm expecting visitors and I want to know when they're here. And...look after Sean. He doesn't like it much when I'm not around..."
With that thought he reached down and kissed both of them on their foreheads and quickly ran off towards his chamber to grab the only things that had lasted him this long in his life: his old, metal studded dueling gloves that enhanced his magical powers...and his trusty Japanese steel katana.
As he ran towards his room, he got strange looks from several of the Lycans. Did they not sense the impending danger? That wasn't good...why not? Reaching his chambers, Xavier flung open his trunk and grabbed both items before heading back for the door. He hoped that his "guests" wouldn't arrive too soon.
Please...not here...not now. Any Lycan, if you can hear me...this is Xavier. I may need your help...
Xavier reached for the door handle and quietly eased it open...

Sven blew into the tunnels like a storm, a host of vampires in tow. His cunning blue eyes darted this way and that, sizing the place up as he went. He glanced behind him, flashing the others a pointed and mischievous smile. Solus and Israfel returned the sentiment immediately, however Romulus kept such tell-tales beneath the surface. Whether he truly wanted to be with them or not remained to be seen. The air was thick with the stench of fur and raw meat, almost intolerable to Sven’s senses. They bore onwards into the tunnels, growing ever more silent as they went. Lycans, for all their obvious deficiencies, shared the Vampire’s preternatural hearing so that even they, masters of stealth and darkness, were weary not to be heard. There was no need to arouse any attention until they had reached their chosen target. Sven knew, enough attention would follow. Farther back in the tunnels, Xavier had returned with his dueling gloves and katana. As he entered, Cealla turned away from the entrance, a look of panic across her face. Grandfather, she sent. Xavier’s eyes widened as he saw frost spread over the walls around the entrance. Your guests… they’re here… Moments later a steel boot to the stomach sent her backwards across the room, into the opposing wall with bone-crunching force. ‘NO!’ cried Xavier, rushing towards the source. Sven and the vampires flooded the room. As he passed, he snatched another of the Lycan pups into his clawed hand with alarming speed. Xavier stared it terror. This couldn’t be happening. A muffled whimper, a snap, the thud of a small, coated corpse dropping against stone. The pup was dead. Sven’s hungry eyes scoured the room in an instant. There were eight or so. Yes, he thought, this would do nicely…

Ooc: Sorry Sven, didn't see your post. And welcome to the tunnels. ^. ~
Ic: The air of the night was often smooth, silky, and so sincerely sweet. Although tonight something plagued the very essence of it all. Exhaling hot breath, the snow-white pelt of the she-wolf dissolved and reappeared in and out of the shadows as she padded quietly down the tunnels, steering her slim form rather close to the walls.
Her pups were asleep in her den; an early night. Rogue looked with heightened senses at each door of the lycan's chambers as she paced past them slowly, the tip of her muzzle twitching every now and then with the discovery of a new scent. The issue with these new scents, and feelings, were that they had never existed in the tunnels before.
The ghostly fur along her scruff was on the rise ever so slightly, and her lavender eyes shone a deep inky amethyst, dappled with a very grey-silver. Frowning to herself at the telepathic voice of Xavier that suddenly entered her mind, the she-wolf stepped forward into the main room of the tunnels and spotted Cealla and Alissa by the fire.
With a quick glance to the entrance, then the fire, then around the rest of the room, Rogue shifted her weight and trotted rather quickly towards the security of a wall, and here she backed up to sit against it. She melted into her human form: a simple grey dress adorning her body and her messy white hair trailing raggedly down her shoulders.
Narrowing her eyes she shivered, despite the warmth in the tunnels, and as her acute ears picked up the almost silent creak of a door opening she gasped loudly, and jumped to look at it. Seeing Xavier on the other side of the door gave her no more then a second to part her lips before a wave of winter swept her up in another gasp and she turned, wide-eyed, to the entrance.
Vampires.
Fear riddled through the she-wolf and she clawed herself up the wall to stand, pressing the small of her back against it in speechless shock as one of them disposed of Xavier's pups in a heartless manner. It figured.
An overwhelming cry of anguish left Rogue's throat and she exploded in silent tears, slamming her hands to her mouth to shut herself up. Her own nails dug to her cheeks and she desperately blinked away her tears, trying to hold the vampires in sight for as long as possible, before breaking into what she knew would be a hopeless run to save her pups...

Xavier's fists balled at the sight of pure horror. The monsters had flooded the chamber, sewing their cold, heartless will upon the room like a plague intent on snuffing out every bit of life in the Tunnels.
"You monsters...you beasts...you animals! You will NOT be taking any more lives today!"
Xavier let out a warrior's yell and unsheathed his katana and sprinted towards the pack of vampires. He knew that it would not be easy to defeat the one who had killed the pup, so he decided to whittle away and work his way towards the top instead. Xavier leapt off the ground with the agility that only a Lycan possessed and headed straight for one of the more junior-looking vampires, quickly dealing with him and thrusting his katana into the undead's gut, then twisting the blade and forcing it straight up through the beast's spine. The vampire screamed in agony and then dropped to the floor in two different directions. Baring a snarl, Xavier shook the blade firmly and sent a small amount of blood (?) flying, which sprayed against the dirt wall of the room. Xavier planted his feet firmly and turned back towards the throng of vampires, ready for any attack...

"Oh, I never liked him anyways."
Solus raked her claws into the muscles on Xavier's shoulde,r having crept up behind him while he was busy killing a fellow vampire. She smirked, dragging Xavier to the ground backwards and nailing him in the lower back with her knee hard, pulling her claws out and side-stepping as he dropped. Two other vampires came as she drove the lycan's katana into the furniture a distance off, grabbing either arm.
The smell of the freshly killed pup filled her nostrils as Solus looked to Sven, the vampire she found that demanded more respect and authority than the vampire king and queen themselves. "Now, finish off the rest of the pups. I'll make sure your friend doesn't interfere with our plans." A cruel smile etched itself onto her features as she cupped Xavier's face in her hands, eyes narrowing into a glare as her claws dug deeper and deeper into his flesh, blood running down his face and staining the collar of his clothes.

Romulus scoffed as Sven did away with the pup swiftly, a sign that the siege was on. His scoff turned to a smirk at Xavier's reaction, filled with shock and horror, and chasing at Sven with his blade stretched out. 'How pathetic...' thought Romulus, '...he has the ability to become a wolf and he chases at us with a sword? That's no fun...' He looked over to Solus to see what she was doing, and found that Solus had dealt with Xavier, though the Lycan Beta had done away with one of the cheering vampires from the cave already. Romulus's smirk turned to a simple smile at the sight of it, and then his silver eyes looked to Sven for instructions, and was redirected at Rogue, scurrying off to save her pups.
Romulus used his vampiric speed to catch up with the Lycan, and within no time stood right in front of her in what seemed to be a blur. He raised an eyebrow at Rogue, gazing up and down as if to mark her. His claw-like hand lunged forward and grabbed her by the throat, and with an equally powerful throw, threw her against the solid rock wall. "I'm sorry about that," he whispered, "But we can't let you get in the way." He stepped closer to the Lycan again, and stared over in Sven's direction. "I have this own covered, go ahead and do what you want with the pups."

Kayla's eyes had snapped open at the shriek of her mother, it sent eerie chills down the small pup's spine and she crawled to her four paws, scared. Jagger, Jagger get up, mummy screamed. She urged her brother, pushing him in the side with her milky paw.
On wobbly paws she ventured to the doorway, and poked her muzzle through the gap of the door and the frame, mummy always left a gap to let the breeze keep the room from smelling and getting too hot. But it was so cold, so very cold, and it hadn't been cold before.
Shivering quite visibly, Kayla moved the entirety of her muzzle around the corner and widened her violet eyes at what she saw. As well as the smell of blood in the air, she saw her mother laying motionless on the floor, blood trickling from wounds at her cheek and forehead.
Mother! Kayla howled in terror, her pupils enlarging with immense fear at the pale beings surrounding the tunnels. With her fur on end like a tormented cat, she dashed forward at Rogue and dove under her mother's arms, shaking violently in fear as tears began streaming from her eyes.
Mother!! She screamed frantically, howling like a wounded dog. Her milky ears were flat to her head and her tail was strung tightly between her legs. She was absolutely terrified and didn't know what to do.

The elder two Lycan’s now disabled, the Vampires moved through the room unopposed. The pups darted this way and that, scattering to corners, or being snatched up by the vampires, grinning and jeering. Sven drew a handful of long silver spikes from beneath his flowing shroud. He stared a while, with grim fascination, into Xavier’s eyes, and then turning to the others he cried ‘Pull!’ Taking his cue, one of the Vampires tossed a small Lycan pup into the air. Sven’s arm was a blur as it launched one of his spikes through the air, catching the wolf-child by the throat and suspending him against the opposite wall. Blood ran warm down the walls as the cave was filled with laughter and overshadowed whimpers. Xavier struggled, but to no avail. Sven watched him writhe this way and that while Solus and the others restrained him. He grabbed another pup off the floor. Chance, this one was called. Sven readjusted his grip, now holding only the pup’s back legs. He stalked around the room, flailing the pup into its brethren, sending them skidding in all directions, yelping and whining. The others roared with laughter. Turning, he found a suitably sharp corner of the wall for his dark intent. He took another glance towards Xavier, who had sensed his next twisted move; he was livid. Sven drew his arm back, then hard and fast he whipped the tiny body into the corner. It’s head hit first, sending teeth and blood across the chamber. Again and again he struck the limp body against the hard rock surface, painting the walls in its demise. The rest was a haze, as the frenzy flew into full swing. Fur and blood filled the air as the reek of murder floated slowly out of the caves. Well all was done, and the chamber was devoid of all Lycans, save Xaiver, Rogue, and the unconscious Cealla, between them, the Vampires made to leave. Following Sven’s instruction, the older wolves would be allowed to live, for now. When Xavier awoke, hours later, the Vampires had gone. Bodies lay strewn about the chamber were all that was left, save one word, carved clear into the solid rock.

But not all the Lycan puppies were dead, and Romulus knew this. For that reason, when Sven gave the order to leave, Romulus stayed behind, hidden within the shadows by his black cape. Hidden behind the rock with Ace's name on it, when Xavier approached the rock to examine it, Romulus flew from the shadows and onto the rock. He then jumped down from the rock, his steel-toe boot colliding with Xavier's face. Looking around, he saw the tunnels deserted, and most of the Lycan babies dead. But there were two corpses he could not find. Those of the babies the female had. The daughter...and that 'Jagger' he heard her say. His cape caressed his sides as he moved throughout the tunnels, his sight and hearing both searching for the sounds of scurrying children.
"Oh chiiiiiiiildren..." He cooed, "Come out come out wherever you are...I want to play." His voice was filled with its previous malice. He would have his blood, whether it meant going against Sven's orders or not. His boots tapped against the floor. "Come on now...there's no need to hide..." His silver eyes shifted, his tension growing. Perhaps Sven had killed them, perhaps he should've just left. But no, he didn't see their bodies, and therefore didn't believe they had died. That was when he heard a scurry from somewhere, but couldn't place it. He moved forward, his mouth watering. Not for blood in his mouth, but for blood to be spilled. He would not stand for any more offspring to live.

Jagger woke slowly as his sister prodded him in the side. Stretching his jaws apart he yawned sleepily, before finally taking in her words. Their mother had screamed? Blinking repeatedly until the haze of sleep left his eyes, Jagger jumped up onto all jet-black paws and wriggled out of the bundle of blankets he'd been in.
Then he froze.
The cold seeping inside the den made him fight the urge to shudder, and instead he fell immediately silent, a voice he didn't know called threateningly kind words to the pups of the tunnels. And Jagger didn't like it one bit.
"Come on now...there's no need to hide..."
That did it. Clamping his small but razor-sharp jaws together, Jagger stalked towards the open door on silent paws, and exited via anger. Targetting the rear of his victim, he charged. Leather-black pads hit the ground with soft ease and Jagger left the ground a second later, growling and barking ferociously before sinking pearly white canines hard into the vampire's ass.
GET OUT OF HERE YOU-YOU MOSQUITO!! The pup barked creatively, latching onto the fella's rear with newfound anger and strength. He spotted Kayla huddled under Rogue through brown eyes, and then he closed them, seeing the scattered bodies and smelling the blood everywhere.
The brave pup knew this would probably be his last fight for freedom, ever, but he wasn't going to go down by a filthy vampire without one, last, bite!

It had been with her own eyes that she had spotted them, coming from a great distance but approaching fast. What great horror; what great monster had sent such things to the door of the Tunnels? At no other time could she ever recall feeling this way, a feeling of an utter loss of hope. Just moments before she had been playing on the floor with Alissa, enjoying the carefree life of a pup under the watchful eyes of a caring Lycan Elder. And the next she'd recieved a rough blow to the stomach, a crippling kick that knocked the wind out of her and sent her flying.
But she still her the death-cry of the other pup; a cry not unlike the one that may very well be her own. A loud whimper that turned to a howl brought her to her feet, stabbing pains running though her stomach from where she'd been kicked. Why were they doing this? What had the lycans ever done to them? She could recall no point in her life when she had ever even encountered a vampire. So why did they come here for her, for the innocence of the Tunnels? She couldn't comprehend what kind of sin it must be to take such a young life.
But she knew she had to get up; had to run back to protect Alissa. Her sister was only a few hours younger than her and was slightly more timid, but Cealla would not see her family's blood spilled on this night. Stifling a moan, she managed to climb to her feet and stagger back to the place right in front of the fire. Pain jetted down her body, but she continued to move onward anyway. There was the feeling of death in the air, and she doubted that it would be the last pain of the night.
'Lissa!' She sent, her blue eyes fierce with pain. 'You have to go... run... hide... maybe they'll take me instead...!' Turning around, she suddenly saw Rouge appear on the scene and let up a howl of worry for Kayla and Jagger. There were just too many for her to warn, too many vampires for her to escape, and too much fear for but one small pup to bear alone.
After seeing Rouge turn and quickly race back towards her den, there was the tiny hope in her mind that perhaps she could get them out in time. Somewhere, Cealla knew, there was probably an escape tunnel to the castle or something. There had to be! This place could not have been built on just a wish and a prayer that the noble lycans would never be attacked. Maybe, just maybe... Kayla and Jagger would escape...
Suddenly, she felt her paws tipping out from under her as her world tilted again. No... I can't! I've got to do something! I've got to save them! No! As the little pup tumbled once more into the innocent bliss of unconciousness, the last thing she saw was one of the vampires grabbing her sister by the scruff of the neck and dragging her away.

Due to Jagger's soft feet, Romulus could not hear him come up behind him. Even with his vampire hearing he became surprised when the pup's teeth sank into his backside and Romulus shrieked in pain. 'GET OUT OF HERE YOU-YOU MOSQUITO!!' The pup cried at him, and Romulus's claw went straight to the pup's head and forcefully pulled him off. The process of removing him ripped off a patch of his cape as well as the denim of his pants, and lastly, and most painfully, some of Romulus's own pale skin. He kept the pain to himself as he threw him against the stone wall next to his unconscious mother. "Mosquito?" He said, limping toward the pup weakly. "Mosquito?" He said louder, his rear throbbing with pain.
"I'll tell you what you are, you little furball. You are a monster born among monsters. Such fierce loyalty...who would think it was possible among rats such as you? Scurrying in tunnels like vermin!" Now next to the pup, he lifted his steel-toe boot once more, and slammed it with momentum into the pup's body. "Now what are you going to do, child? Bite me again, I dare you." He removed his boot from the pup's body. "I dare you! Go ahead!" He stepped back, his silver eyes flashing dangerously down at the pup. The bite to the rear still stung miserably.

The vampire's claw dug into Jagger's head and he growled, dropping the small mound of flesh and material he held in his jaws. Jagger's paws flailed madly as he flew through the air, tucking his head down as he collided with the wall and landed beside his mother and Kayla.
Dizzy, the pup dragged himself to his paws and barked, determind not to give up. As the vampire tossed insulting words Jagger's way, the pup responded angrily. At least we don't invade other people's homes because we're so pathetic we can't find anything better to do! At least we don't have deformed teeth, and brains, and we can enjoy the sun. You resemble the life of nothing more than a bug! He snarled, preparing to dive at the vampire again.
Suddenly the vampire's steel-toe boot was thrust into Jagger's gut, and he yelped in pain, feeling his ribs crack under the pressure, and puncture something inportant; most likely a lung since it suddenly became near impossible to breathe.
The hit from the wall and to his side had drawn blood from the pup, and the steel on the vampire's boot was silver. A deadly combination.
Jagger fell forward and collapsed as the vampire brought his foot from the pup's body. Whining quietly and uncontrollably in pain, Jagger dragged his last efforts of strength throughout himself and hauled himself onto the vampire's foot, latching his jaws into the man's leg, just above where the boot ended.
The bite was nowhere near as hard as the one to his rear, for the pup's world was close to complete darkness, and he no longer had the strength to put up a fight. Hanging from his own canines in the vampire's bloody, plagued leg, Jagger slowly drifted into unconsciousness.
I love you mother, I love you Kayla...
Were his last squeaky telepathic words, before his world faded to oblivion, and the pup fell limp over the vampire's boot. He was gone, forever. But he'd succeeded in his final efforts, he'd been dared by his killer to bite, and he had, and with that bite, he carried the consequences of a lycan now in the blood of the vampire.
Without proper help, the vampire would surely mutate into something sickly abnormal, not that he wasn't already in that state.

Kayla sat under her mother's form as best she could, licking her face desperately to try and force her to wake. Mother please, please wake up! Mother!! She cried, still shaking violently in sick fright. The main vampires had left, but there was still one there, trying to find her brother, and her.
Her mothers arm was shaking because of the little she-wolf's quivering body, but she put her paws over her muzzle and hid her eyes, trying so so hard to block out everything around her. Uncontrollably she began to whimper loudly.
The next thing she knew, Jagger ran full-bolt out of the den and at the vampire, despite Kayla's sudden objectional screams. Jagger NO! She yelped, then howled as her brother was tossed aside and kicked in the gut like one of her old chew toys.
Please stop! Stop! She grimaced, watching her brother dive one more time at the vampire, his bloodied body failing and giving into the weakness of the silver-capped boots. Crying hopelessly as her brother let out his last breath, Kayla scampered over to him and dragged him off the vampire, placing her paws and muzzle on him sadly.
Tears streaked her muzzle and her ears lay flat against her head. In pure terror, her wide eyes dared to look up at the vampire, who had just killed her brother, and she bristled her fur protectively, still trembling.
P-Please, She choked out. Please, please d-don't hurt me. She murmered almost silently into his mind, fearfully cowering to her belly, tucking her paws underneath her and over her muzzle, flattening her ears to her tiny skull, and curling her shivering tail around herself. She waited, for she knew she was going to die, and she just held her breath, wishing it had all just been a bad dream.
Please... She whispered, once last time...

OOC: so who did the vampires kill at the start of this... I am guessing either Alissa or Sean.
Chance had sensed something the matter in the tunnels. He could smell blood, something he would normally be use to, but the blood held Lycan scent. He had never known a Lycan to bleed that much. He had wounded himself a few times while hunting small game, the wounds healed quickly. His mind could not grasp why a Lycan could bleed so much. He began to think of his family, he began to run as fast as his legs could carry his small form to the tunnels.
He had no idea what was in the tunnels, sense vampires don’t have a scent to follow. He stood at the entrance of the tunnels the waves of blood hit his small nose causing him to reel back a step. The blood was Lycan, but now there was more then one scent in the blood. He was unsure what to do, had someone attacked them as his mother rogue had feared?
He was weary as he entered the tunnels. The person who did this could still be around. His nose went into the air to find where everyone was. He could smell Rogue and his siblings, along with the other pups, one of them dead at least. He moved into the shadow moving slowly as to not draw attention to himself in anyway.
As the pup went down the halls, full of the scent of blood and death, he saw the white hide of Rogue. He wanted to run for her to see if she was alright, but something inside his head told him that was stupid and would cost him his life. The sound of ’Jagger, No!’ filled his mind followed by 'Please stop! Stop!'. Then he saw his sibling Jagger fall at the hands or boots of a creature with no scent. ‘Kayla run’ he yelled out into his sister’s mind.
