Since the day Fuu came to Magical Horizons she had wanted a pet. She had thought about it a lot but never acted on it. Certain thoughts would run through her head.
"What if i can't take care of it?" or
"What if i accidentally kill it?" or the one that bother her the most was,
"What if i buy it and never pay attention to it?"
Those questions had bothered her for a long. She made her mind up and headed to Diagon Alley. It was a a chilly morning, autumn was coming fast. Fuu walked down the brick streets to the Alley. She didn't fell totally confident but she was going to get a pet.
She wore her deep amber hair down, with a small green and yellow and polka-dot hair clip in the shape of a bow. Her bangs where in face and her azure eyes beamed through. She wore an olive green turtleneck, with a white belt that had black studs, and lastly she wore a pair of black Dickie jeans.
Fuu came the the front door of the shop and went inside. She looked around at all the animals she was a little skeptical, but she went on. After a while she wasn't really looking for an animal as much as she was playing with them. She stopped as she realized was she was doing. She leaned against the wall and slid down. She sat on the ground about as confused as she had ever been.
ooc: ;D to bad i cant have a warm-water penguin.....

Barnett had been striding down the sidewalk, parcel tucked under one arm, when he glanced through a pet shop to see a familiar face sitting on the floor. His lips began to twitch up into a smirk. He looked down at his package. Quite apparently he was struggling with the thought of getting a task done and having a bit of fun. After a moment, the idea of fun won the battle. He slid through the front door, the bell clanging mildly as he crossed over the threshold.
Taking a slow, leisurely pace up to Fuu, he stood beside her for a moment, before kneeling down to meet her face to face.
"Might I point out that you're going to get filthy dirty if you keep there? Think about it- not only the animals that have tread where you've sat yourself, but the people as well! It's simply unsanitary. When will you ever be a proper lady?" He grinned tauntingly and straightened back up, brushing off the one knee that he had grazed against the floor.
Glancing around the room, he didn't feel particularly drawn to any animal there. The dogs' fur didn't gleam like a proper purebred should. The kitten's claws looked improperly groomed. And the thought of getting a toad or rat was simply sickening.

Fuu heard a familiar voice as she sat on the ground. When she decided to looked up Fuu came face to face with Barnett. She blushed, Fuu never really got that close to people. It made her a little tense but she tried ignoring the feeling.
She had a very sluggish expression and stared at him blankly as Barnett went through his usual speech. When Barnett got up she slowly leaned her back against the wall and pushed herself up. She brushed her rump and back off as well as her hands. She faced him but her head was turned slightly, avoiding eye contact.
She briefly glanced at him, "Well, you seem to be the expert on being a proper lady. perhaps i should take note of your actions?" Then her gaze returned to the side.

Barnett glowered theatrically, but his eyebrows did a funny dance. He was clearly amused.
"My mother is the most well behaved woman I've ever seen, thanks." He told her, tucking his hands in his pant pockets. "She's very proper. It's unusual, all of the girls running around here like - well - idiots." He sighed, a laugh fluttering from his mouth. "The prospects look slim, fair maiden. Let me see your hands." The last sentence slipped from him most on accident, but once it hovered there, he had to make it look on purpose. He grinned easily and stretched his own hand out, palm up.
"You can tell much of a young women by the way they keep their hands." He told her, winking wisely and nudging her shoe with his. He ahem-ed loudly to show her that he was quite serious.

Fuu paused and blushed again. She was only kidding. She didnt do anything for a moment then she relized her was seroius when he tapped her foot. She stood there for a moment and there was a silence. She took a deep breath and held out her hands holding them over his.
She looked him in the eyes trying to hide she was embarresed. "I dont understand where you are coming from. This doesnt seem very useful but here you go." she said a little uneasy. She thought she took a care of her hands but she was always useing them for something. They were very busy.

Barnett smirked at her for a moment, tucking his thumb around her wrist and holding her hands under his nose. He felt very much like some sort of professor, or a researcher of some kind. He tucked his tongue between his teeth on one side, his brow knitting in a very exaggerated concentration.
"Looks like someone's been working hard, eh?" He tutted maternally, brushing his fingertips in circles over the bases of her fingers, feeling hints of callouses there. He traced with utmost precision down her palm, briefly running down what he was pretty sure to be named the 'life' line. He tilted his head to the side, seeming to be in deep philosophical thought for several excruciatingly long moments.
Then, with a surprising snicker, he released her and took a prompt step backward to put more room between them. He shoved his hands in his pockets, a smile still haunting his face.

Fuu's fingers twitched as he examined her hands. Fuu was actually quite ticklish on her hands. As he continued to look upon the he said she was a hard worker. She wouldn't consider herself a hard worker. She wasn't very good with her magic so she did many things the muggle way.
As he released her hands she felt some relief. It was starting to get warmer so she pushed her sleeves up to her elbows and put her hands to her sides. Then she looked up at Barnett with his usually creepiness except it was different this time.
"Um, Barnett...."she said uncomfortably, "why are you looking at me like that? I haven't done anything wrong!" she told him.

Barnett shrugged, his smile widening into something that - hopefully - looked less creepy.
"I'm just surprised when people think that I know what I'm talking about." He told her innocently. "You can tell much of a young women by the way they keep their hands', what is that? It's rubbish. " Exhaling loudly, he turned on his heel and strode in a small circle around the room.
"Well? Are you planning on buying anything?" He asked, looking back at her.

"Oh, so you just wanted to hold my hand? All you had to do was ask. " she teased. She smiled and looked around at the animals then back at him.
"Well, i was.....but there isnt anything to appealing to me." she said looking at one of the dogs.
"I hate dogs." she grumbled under her breath.

Barnett looked like he had a prepared answer, but he shrugged and let her comment slide. It would be more fun to see her curiousity grow then answer her. He sauntered over to the lizard's cage and peered in cautiously.
"Why don't you like dogs? They're very useful things." He said casually, hitching his fingertips under the top of the cage and prying it open. Edging his palm in, the lizard hopped aboard and climbed up to his elbow, digging microscopic claws into his jacket sleeves.Smiling, clearly pleased with himself, he patted the top of it's rough head gently with his index finger. "I wouldn't mind a cat, though, honestly. They're always so , I don't know, mischievous. You know?"
He turned and offered the lizard to her, smirking playfully. The lizard flickered out a forked tongue, also seeming to tease the red haired girl.

"I agree, dogs can be useful but i haven't ever really taken a liking to them. But i do like cats they are very mysterious and i kind of like that. But some cats are very high strung." she said.
Fuu walked over to Barnett with the lizard in hand.
"He's cute!" she said as the lizard stuck out its tongue, "It his own way." she put her finger on his head and gave him a pet.
"He's a little slimly." Fuu said in distaste.

Barnett shrugged, letting the lizard scamper halfway up his arm before the store's clerk tutted disapprovingly and jerked a long-fingernailed hand back to it's cage. Smiling innocently and batting his eyelashes at the middle aged woman, he slipped the lizard back in it's cage and closed the top with his elbow. Unfortunately, he caught the clerk making eyes at him. Her teeth were mossy and he felt slight nausea raise in his stomach.
Turning back to Fuu,he loosened his jacket slightly due to the heat. "That's quite a bit of a cat's charm. They play hard to get, but they're still affectionate if you take care of them." He scratched the back of his neck thoughtfully. "I think if I were to get a cat I'd name itsomething regal. Like Duke or Machiavelli or Macbeth, or something."

She looked at him a little awkwardly. "What strange names?" she commented. The she looked to see that he was carrying something with him.
She examined it for a second before asking, "What's that?" She pointed to the parcel and asked innocently, "Are you a delivery boy?"

"This?" Barnett asked casually while shifting the package into his jacket pocket, away from her eyes. "Unimportant. Just an errand. Not everyone has the leisurely option of going pet shopping in Diagon Alley." This thought knocked into another at the back of his mind. Knight Bus schedules. He had a heap of Potions work for his first class the next day. He knew he had to wrap things up and book it back at the earliest time available.
He glanced regretfully at Fuu. "Thanks for reminding me of my responsibilities." He said glumly. "I probably should get a move on with them." He added, more to himself, "Damn. I hope the Apothecary is open."

A frown came across Fuu's face, "Oh, you have to leave?" she muttered rhetorically. Fuu grabbed a lock of her hair wrapping her finger around it and just holding on to it. It was a habit she formed when she was sad, bored or frustrated. She sighed. She hadn't even picked out a pet or had any fun while she was here. She rarely ever went into town.
"Apothecary? Why are you going there?" she asked rather confused. She wasn't one hundred percent sure what a Apothecary was but she didn't want to asked and didn't want to feel stupid.
