Hayzie jumped off the Knight Bus and gave a small, unsure smile to Stan as she exited right in front of the building for the Ministry of Magic. Since she had been forced to quit her job as a janator, the slight blonde had chosen to stay away - not that she had much choice in the matter - so that she could keep her life in tact - or rather, her immortal life.
However, after an encounter with Rikka, and the threats that were made, it was definitely time to take some action. Hayz remembered a trip to the Hospital WIng a few months back where Kasey had told her that there was a Lycan cure out there, but it wasn't going to be easy to get, and you also needed permission to go ahead with it first. That was the reason she was here, standing in front of the Ministry building and trying to pluck up the courage to go inside. Or rather, trying to talk herself out of going inside so she wouldn't look cowardly by asking to go ahead with the cure.
After ten minutes of deliberation, Hayzie finally stepped inside the imposing front doors of the ministry, had her wand checked and her visitor pass given to her before sitting in the waiting area to see the new Ministeress of Magic, Kiki Michaels. Hopefully, she would be able to help...

Kiki searched helplessly through a pile of parchment, trying to find a random document that she was positive meant absolutely nothing, but had been told that the entire sixth floor had been brought to a standstill and they couldn't possibly keep working until she had signed the document.
Shrieking frustratedly, she couldn't have been more relieved when she was sent a memo with the message that Hayzie was outside.
"Perhaps that'll give me a break and I can think about where I've put the damn thing," She murmured to herself. She stood up and banished the parchment to a filing cabinet against the wall. Heaving a relaxed sigh, she stood up and opened the door to let Hayzie in.
"Hayzie! And to what do I owe the pleas -" Kiki started as she spotted the parchment she was looking for pinned on a bulletin board.
"Of course! I put it there when Christian was here," She unpinned it triumphantly and signed it with a flourish. It disappeared and Kiki grinned. She realised that Hayzie was waiting for her and she walked around to sit behind her desk.
"What do I owe the pleasure of this meeting?" She asked. "Would you like anything to eat or drink?"

Hayzie couldn't hold back a smile as she saw Kiki running around her office trying to find something or the other. At least she hadn't changed at all. As the blonde was still standing outside the door, it didn't take long for the older girl to find what she was looking for and sign it off before inviting her in.
At the offer of anything to eat or drink, Hayz shuddered a little. Even after five months, she still was only eating the occasional berries off trees, and through that, she had lost a couple of stone from being in the forest, leaving her clothes looking more than a little baggy, and her usually cheerful face pale and thing.
Smiling to Kiki, Hayz sat down on a chair opposite her friend. "Good to see you too, Kiki," the blonde practically sighed. "How have you been?"
In all honesty, the small talk was just an attempt to avoid the main point. Worry sparked behind green eyes which avoided Kiki as much as possible, and Hayzie was beginning to fidgit nervously as she frequently did when nervousness set in.

Regardless of how long Kiki had been away from the school, she was a lot sharper on people's emotions since coming into office. She could see Hayzie was wanting to ask something, however was unwilling to step out and say it. She didn't miss the shudder either, at the offer of food. Kiki decided to play down the formalness of the meeting and waved her wand, having a leather armchair appear next to Hayzie and Hayzie's own chair change into a matching one.
Kiki stood and walked around, to sit next to the girl who she was studying with a critical eye. Was it her imagination or did she not fit into her clothes as well as she used to? Kiki knew that she had been made a lycan and was never really happy with the fact, but she and Hayzie had never been close enough friends to discuss the matter intimately.
Kiki suddenly had a hunch that this was what Hayzie wanted to talk to her about. She wasn't entirely sure of which point of view Hayzie was speaking on behalf of, but the point of conversation was awkward enough for her to dodge around it as much as she was able.
She decided to use a tactic of Wilting Rose's, which reminded her that she needed to owl her later, and played along with the small talk, knowing that Hayzie was clever enough to pick up on the fact that Ki was willing to wait until Hayzie voiced her problem.
"I've been well. It's been hectic settling in, but the people are quite respectful and welcoming, I'd met a lot of them when Bob Rainbow was Minister," Kiki grinned at the memory. She decided to try a gentle,
"And how are you travelling Hayz?"

Hayzie sank back into the leather chair that had been conjoured up, and leant her head back a little. This definitely beat sitting on thick branches of trees and leaning back against the trunk. As Kiki walked around her desk, Hayz noticed the critical eye she was being given, no matter how much Ki tried to hide it. This only made her feel more nervous which lead to butterflies making an appearence in her stomach.
When Kiki decided to continue the small talk, the blonde girl was almost relieved, though she knew better than to lie when she was asked how she was traveling. Lying wouldn't be the way to go with her friend - she would be caught out immediately.
"Good to hear," she replied first with a small smile before casting her green eyes downwards to give her answer. "Not too well. That's why I'm here..." Hayzie practically whispered, none of her former, cheerful, bubbly self evident at all. Being turned a Lycan changed more than just giving her a new power. It changed everything.

Kiki was instantly alert as soon as Hayzie's mood fell. So many things became clear in that instant. Hayzie was teetering on the brink of depression, hardly the wonderfully insane and bubbly girl she'd once been. Kiki also realised that Hayzie had been toying with an idea for awhile and was anxious about voicing her thoughts and whether the idea would be accepted or rejected. And the last thing, Kiki's brain locked into place with a resounding clang, was that Kiki was either the first, or the last, person Hayzie had come to talk to for help.
Kiki shifted her chair closer and leaned forward on her elbows.
"What's up Hayz?" She asked softly.

This was it. It was finally time to come clean, to reveal the real reason behind her coming here. Closing her eyes and letting out a deep, long breath, Hayzie opened her mouth and everything came falling out.
“What’s up? Over the past five months, I’ve been held captive by the forest Lycans, I’ve been threatened with death almost daily, I have to sneak out to try and see some friends, I miss everything from before… before I was stupid and made the mistake I did…. I know now it was stupid to try and stop the inevitable, but I thought maybe it could happen…” Hayz’s voice was starting to choke a little now as she thought back on it all, and she realised she sounded like a little kid rather than the 16-year-old she was, but it had all just got too confusing now.
“I’ve heard there’s a way to reverse the Lycan poison… but I can’t go ahead with it until I have permission…” the short blonde decided not to mention about the dangerous tasks involved in getting the ingredients for the potion, but all she could do was curl up a little in the chair and hope Kiki would let her go ahead with it.

Kiki blinked a few times to regain her composure, but knew that Hayzie was too miserable to notice. She laid a hand on her shoulder and then sighed heavily.
"What am I doing?" She asked, then slid in behind Hayzie, the armchair moving to fit her in. She wrapped her arms around her and hoped that that small gesture offered the girl some comfort.
She stayed like that for awhile, deciding on her options of questions. She decided on,
"Do you know for sure that there's a cure for the poison?"

Hayzie found herself leaning into Kiki’s hug without thinking and feeling like a child again, being comforted by her mother after someone had said something hurtful in the school playground.
“Kasey looked it up, and she said there’s one…” Hayz answered quietly. It was beginning to click now. Kiki was going to want to know how it was made, and what was needed…<br> This could turn out to be an interesting few weeks.
“Please don’t say no, Kiki…”

"Well, Hayz, I can't just say yes. I need you to tell me a little more about it before we can start to make it. Please, tell me what you know,"
She loosened her grip slightly on Hayzie, giving her a bit of breathing room.

Hayzie gave a small sigh. “Thing is, I don’t know a lot about it yet,” she answered quietly, looking away again. All she knew was two of the ingredients. She hadn’t even seen which book Kasey had got the potion out of, but she knew it was in the nurse’s drawer in the Hospital Wing.
“I know two of the ingredients… plants from an elven forest, and flowers from the garden of a centaur… but that’s it,” the blonde girl sighed, seeing already how hard this was going to be and already, she was having doubts about being able to complete the task that would give her back a normal life.

"Plants from an elven forest and flowers from the garden of a centuar," Kiki echoed, her mind spinning at the complications that were popping up amazingly quickly within her head. She cleared her thoughts with a shake, deciding to dwell on the problems later.
"Hayzie, I need you to find out more about this cure. I can't give you a promise yet, I'll need to know what other ingredients we'll need and how long it'll take to make. However, I can promise you a friend to help you through all of this."
Kiki smiled slightly as she realised how serious and mature she sounded. She hoped that taking some sort of control of the situation would help transfer some of the burden from Hayzie's shoulders. She wanted to help, and only her instincts were stopping her from saying yes.
"Ki, you have to find out what else this cure involves. Otherwise you could be stumbling blindly into the Vampire Lair, with none to save you."

Hayzie sighed and leant back into the leather chair again. She should have known to do more research before she came here. It had been a stupid thing to come here without knowing all about the cure first. However just being able to know that there was a possible light at the end of the long, cold, dark tunnel made the blonde girl feel better about the situation – even if there wasn’t a lot to feel good about. She was still going to be stuck as a Lycan for a while yet.
“Thanks, Kiki,” Hayz smiled, no hint of falseness about her. This smile was genuine. One of the few that were given out nowadays. Hayzie had always known Kiki as the wacky Head Girl who talked to portraits and parakeets. It was weird seeing her as the responsible Ministeress of Magic.

"No worries Hayzie love," Kiki clambered off the seat and smiled at the girl who was obviously a lot brighter. She smiled slightly, knowing that she had actually done something that was going to have a positive effect in the long run.
But the problems were still there.
A knock on the door interrupted her train of thought and Kiki strode over to answer it.
"Hello?" She asked.
"I'm here to see the Ministeress," came the reply. "Can you tell her I'm here?" Kiki bit back a laugh. The delivery boy obviously hadn't been reading much of the Daily Prophet. There was another thing that see needed to pull under her belt. Sort out the Daily Prophet.
"What can I help you with?" Kiki asked and smiled as the cocky mannerisms fell from the boy like rain.
"I'm sorry Ministeress, I didn't realise -"
"That's perfectly all right. What have you for me?" The boy took a few seconds to recover and then handed over a bunch of packages and nodded to her once and scampered away. Laughing delightedly, Kiki clapped her hands gleefully as she surveyed the packages and glanced up at Hayzie.
"Like to help me open them?" She offered.

Hayzie had to bite her lip to stop herself grinning as a cocky-looking delivery boy spoke to Kiki. Oh he was obviously one who paid attention. Not.
As her friend came back over, Hayz was amazed. "You know, it's not often people deliver packages in this world any more, is it?" she asked innocently, just before Kiki asked her if she'd like to help open some of them. There were so many as it was, and it would take hours to open them all on her own.
"Sure," the blonde smiled, crossing her legs in the seat. "Ki, do you know the name of the book Kasey keeps in her drawer in the Hospital Wing?" she asked, nervously, only now revealing she didn't even know where the cure was told of.
