Gavin smiled faintly, his eyes not leaving Kezaa's as he thumbed on the safety, resting the sawed-off shotgun against his shoulder.
"Well, you tell me. I was sitting down at the Hogshead, about to toss back a drink or two, maybe play some cards, and then the door opens. A rather... unsavory character comes in, and he's shouting something. Pretty soon, half the room gets up, picks up a club or something, and runs out. Now me, Im thinking they're prepared for a good ol' witch-burning, and I let myself smile about that for a bit, and then it hits me. That's a BAD thing." Gavin said with a sheepish smile.
"So I came a runnin' and found ya'll here."

(OOC) *Pokes Ninny-hammer-chan* Where are you? We've been waiting for you to reply for days now.
(BIC) You've done a fantastic job Bryan, averting any suspicions the villagers might have. Keep doing all the fighting for them, until they become so lax and incapable that nothing will prepare them for the hell that shall fall on their heads.
Kez felt uneasy. His arm slid up to his upper midsection, gripping at the rumpled piece of paper that sat in his breast pocket. As long as he was moving, he felt fine. He felt that this new reality would engulf him if he were to just keep standing like this. Hell, as long as he was kicking drunkards around, even that proved to at least be a brief distraction from his troubles.
Do not stay in one place for too long. They see you as their savior, but if they get to know you too well, then they may detect a pattern in the attacks. We want our actions to appear random, and you to stay in their trust. And do stop allowing that red-haired boy to mimick your actions. For some odd reason, our leader seems particularly interested in him. We don't know the details of our leader's actions, but he feels that if that harmless little boy caught wind of this, it could mean the destruction of all of us. Do not let that boy too close.
Kezaa felt like vomiting, though his demeanor did not reflect it, his face had become a stark white. Though he had only read that note about three times since he recieved it that morning from an anonymous sender, the words were burnt into his mind.
"Well kid, you should probably head back to the school soon." Kez said this, knowing that Gavin carried more than enough 'insurance' to keep himself safe from any typical street drunkard. Kez mainly said this knowing that it was really himself that needed the time alone. And with a brief wave over his shoulder, Kez stepped off down the narrowing alley, blanketed by a black fog.

The sudden eruption of sound and smoke startled Hikalyn almost as much as it did her attackers, but unlike the swarming drunks, she didn't get in a panic about it. Under the cover of the sudden chaos that had erupted as men scrambled over each other to get away from the gunfire's source, she herself took a couple of prudent steps back, wanting to see just who was the latest entrant into this little brawl before she made any decisive moves. Amethyst eyes widened just a hair, then narrowed again in speculation. The boy looked young, but he held that weapon with a confidence that belied his apparent age. Aside from which, she reminded herself, age didn't necessarily play any factor. She herself had been little more than sixteen when she'd accepted the office of Head Auror, something that had been, at the time, entirely unprecedented.
Her intrigue piqued, she surpressed her instinct to leap back into the fight, instead watching with interest as it played itself out--something which didn't take very long. The faintest smile of approval touched her lips as she watched the men scatter and flee, though for a moment, she caught herself wishing that they hadn't. Her blood was up, now, and despite the fact that she wasn't normally one to enjoy a fight--far from it, usually--she had to admit to herself that she wouldn't have minded a chance to vent some frustrations...
She hung back as the blond boy and Kezaa greeted each other, obviously having met in some previous encounter. It wasn't long, though, before she decided to speak up. As far as she had seen, Kez hadn't been hurt at all in the incident, but his face, she noticed, had turned a stark, sickly white. Before she had a chance to voice her concern, he'd already bade the two of them a farewell and strode off down the concealing shadows of an adjacent alleyway.
Automatically Hikalyn moved to go after him, before checking herself halfway through the motion. Whatever it was that had been troubling him, he'd already made it fairly clear that he intended to keep it to himself, and she doubted he would appreciate the continued pryings of a complete stranger. She wouldn't have, in his place. And as for the rest... well, she was certain that she could take care of himself.
The young woman brushed back her hair and turned to the blond boy, offering him a crooked smile. "Thanks for the help," she remarked lightly, apparently not at all shaken by the trouble. She wasn't even breathing hard. "I'm Hikalyn, by the way," she added in belated introdcution. "And you might be...?" She let her voice trail off questioningly, inviting him to fill in the blank.
