The moon was bright and full as the girl walk the well worn path away from the school. The night was brisk, snow laying on the ground from recent storms. The lovely white grounds were littered with prints of all sorts. And in the dark of night, even with a full moon, Samantha was still rather afraid. She wasn't fond of the dark in the least, and especially the being outside in the dark. This would usually keep her in during the dark hours, however the false cheer that filled the school was killing her. She worried she would drown in fake smiled, and red and green sweaters. She wasn't unhappy, just suffocated. She felt like everything was pressing on her at once. The openness of outdoors was a relief, even if she did look over her shoulder ever two minuets and kept hearing things that might not really be there.
The pretty girl walked on steadily, trying to pull off grace in her worried step. She did keep looking over her shoulder. Her mind loved to play tricks on her and throw her off balance but she worked to keep herself in check. What in the world is there to be afraid of? She thought to herself, wondering. A lot. She already answered her own question.
Long white hair flowed out behind her, matching the snowy ground under her feet. Black jeans, and a clean white tee held to her thin form. She had gone through so many changes to look the way she did. She went from the chunky, happy, clumsy girl she had been, to a thin, almost graceful one. She tried for beauty, that everyone used to insist she already had. However, now even with her thin form, and perfect skin, she still felt hideous. She felt as though everyone was always judging her and watched their eyes as they looked her over. Thin lines marked her arms, and upper legs. All covered beneath some form of clothing. She wore a long black cloak to keep out the cold, and keep in her secrets. Beauty came with such a price.
The black gates to the Graveyard opened with a loud screech, she winced as the noise hit her ears. With another weary glance around she stepped into the yard. Deep emerald eyes scanned the beautiful yet depressing scene before her eyes. She smiled slightly in spite of her slight paranoia. She felt so much better to be out of the school. But that didn't mean she wasn't terrified crazy. The Ravenclaw girl was smart, with intelligent eyes, the same of mind and heart, she tried to keep herself under control. Samantha walked around for a few minutes and then set herself on the ground, and stared up at the moon. Letting her thoughts drag her away to a state of serenity, she wouldn't have noticed any one approach.

The graveyard that surrounded Loren was that of cool darkness littered with white fluff. His pale-green gaze was not lying upon that of what surrounded his true line of sight, the gravestone marked with the name Minerva McGonagall. His eyes became flooded with cool, salty liquid as he looked the name over a million times. How he missed his grams...and the Christmas spirit inside the school only made the emptieness that filled his heart grow more and more. A single tear left his right eye as he tried to supress it and landed upon the cold, gray surface of the beautifully carved stone.
As he stood up, he leaned over to brush off the snow that clung to the knees of his deep-blue jeans. His silk-woven, white shirt shone in the moonlight and made it appear as if it were glowing. Loren's dark-brunette hair was tied behind him with only a few strands that hung loosely in the front. As he closed his eyes to take in the cool, night air, he heard from a distance the slight creaking of the graveyard gates. 'Who would be out here at this time of night?' he thought to himself. 'Why are they out in such a depressing place such as this?'
As he averted his gaze to the entrance of the cemetary, his keen eyes first caught sight of the flowing, white hair that moved with the breath of the night wind. 'Samantha...what are you doing here?' He wandered aimless reasons as to why his good friend would be out here, of all places, on a night such as this. Her path apparently was not directed to any one place and she weaved her way through the gravestones, halting herself every now and then to read the inscription embossed upon stone.
Loren couldn't help himself...he desperately needed a distraction to keep his thoughts off of his dearly departed relative. 'Samantha....' he pondered to himself, '...could be that distraction.' He quickly, yet quietly, approached his fellow Ravenclaw from behind and placed his hand upon her shoulder. "Hello Samantha."

Samantha turned quickly on one heel, to see Loren. Not some monster. Not anything to worry about. Unless he had some reason to kill her and a very hard spell up his sleeve, she thought she would be alright. She let out a deep breath. "Jesus!" She said a slight laugh in her tone, "I am so glad its you..." She said. Sam smiled a bright cheerful smile at him. She wanted it at least look happy, whether she felt it or not.
Sam looked up into his green eyes, and her smile faded. Searching his face, his eyes looked sad. She wondered why he was here in the Graveyard. She wondered why he was sad. However, she didn't know if that was a polite thing to ask. She didn't know him to well, and didn't want to drive him away. She looked back up at his eyes, and formed a small smile on her lips.
"How are you?" She asked him, quietly, there was no need to speak loudly in the silence of the night. It seemed nothing else was around but the wind.

"Terrifically awful..." Loren looked away in shame, his mouth making the same crease it always did when he was upset. His eyes began to water, but he just took his shirtsleeve and wiped away his tears. He forced his head up to look into her eyes once more. "How are you," he questioned with a forced smile plastered to his face.

Samantha looked into his green eyes again. Seeing him so sad made her heart sink. She hated seeing anyone like this, but to see him like this threw her all amiss for some reason. She tilted her head to one side. Not knowing how exactly to respond.
"I am...Alright." She said, her words full of tossed emotion. She was trying to be fake happy and she was worried. Samantha knew sadness, a lot of it. And she didn't want other people to feel bad. And she really didn't want anyone to see her pain. To see her slits and marked, and the pain and stress she went through, all in hopes of reaching perfection.
Samantha took her hand and moved a few pieces of hair out of Lorens face. "Wanna talk?" She asked him.

Loren gazed at the seemingly perfect face for a moment. He couldn't quite grasp it, but he apparently was not the only one with troubling thoughts...as a matter of fact, he had a hunch that she was struggling with inner-demons as well. "Sure." He took Samantha's hand in his own and held it rather firmly, but it was more for comfort.
"Why are you out here in the graveyard of all places, when Christmas celebration is inside?"

Sam's eyes shown bright against her tan face. White hair lazily falling around her. She looked at him in mock anger. "HEY! I am supposed to be the one asking questions." She said, joking. When he took her hand she covered his with her other one.
"I, I..." She started, wondering what to say. "I am out here because inside," She began again. " It was a little overwhelming. I cannot even begin to tell you how difficult it is to fake cheer in that place." She said, deciding the truth would sound better then anything else she could say.
"And, you, mister? Why have you decided to come down here?" She asked.

Loren was thoughtful of the question. 'How am I supposed to answer this?' He pondered Samantha's unanswered words for but a moment before coming up with the perfect answer...
"This place...it helps me think. Usually I am alone out here, and being out in the open on a night such as tonight is a great place to take a breather. With so many people under one roof, I guess you just need your space every now and then..." The young man smiled. For the first time all night, he began to feel cheer in his heart and somehow Samantha inspired that feeling inside of him.
"...and my cheeks began to hurt from faking a smile 24 hours a day. It really gets to you after a while." The young witch laughed softly to himself and saw Samantha place a grin upon her own face. He truly felt cheer in his heart, for the time being at least.

Sam looked at him. He looked happier then he had. She was glad at that. Very very glad. She then let go of his hands and ran a few feet away. Quickly she picked up a big handful of snow, and balled it up. And with one quick motion she threw it at him, hitting him on his chest.
Sam smiled mischievously. She wanted him to be happy. She wanted to be happy. And seeing as she was happy being around Loren at the moment, she wanted it to last.
She picked up another ball of snow. Smileing at him.

As the cold, hard iceball hit his rib cage, his eyes widened with surprise. He smiled as he spotted Samantha. She had already begun to reload for the next assualt against him. As she threw the neatly packed snowball at him, he dodged to the side landed on the ground, quickly scooping a handfull of snow himself. He packed the white fluff tightly and hurled it at the frost-haired beauty. Direct hit! Loren laughed. For the first time in the past few days, he felt joy in his heart. As he gazed at Samantha, he realized that he had gained one of the truest friendships that could ever be made in a lifetime.

Sam laughed as she was hit with a cold ball of snow. "HEY! I am a girl." She said. "Boys cannot hit girls...with anything!" She said, laughing as she walked back over to stand in front of him, her hands behind her back.
"That was not very gentlemen like." She said, a teasing smile on her face. Quickly she took one of her hand from behind her back, she rubed a bunch of melting snow in his hair. Sam giggled madly as she tok one of her fingers to wipe away one of the many trickles of water sliding down him face.
Sam bit the side of her lip out of habbit, and waited to see what he might reply with.

As Loren was smothered with white fluff, he laughed even more heartily than before, bearing all of his pearly whites for all to see. "Well, I find that if a person, wether it be male or female, hits another, then give karma to them in their own dosage and do unto them as they have done to you..." As the now impish witch said this, he took his wand out of his pocket and pointed it right at Samantha. "Aradruin Kaisla!" At that very instant, he saw the emerald eyes of the witch standing before him glow and he knew that his defrosting charm had worked.
"Are you warmer now?" He smiled a goofy smile and gave her a hug. As he felt her warm body against his, he knew that it was apparent that it had been successful.

Samantha had expected perhaps a snowball to the face, or maybe a freezing charm. But no, now she was nice and warm.
Samantha hugged him back, hoeing he was getting warmed up now too. She looked up at him and smiled, "Thanks."
She put her head against his chest. "I'm glad your happier now." She said to him. Her fear of the dark forgotten, as she stood there with him. The full moon lighting the whole snowy seen before the two friends. She was happier now too.

As she put her head against his chest, he felt a feeling of relief washing over him...yet, he couldn't help to smile at the odd situation in which they were in the middle of. He had just paid his respects to his deceased Grandmother, she had become overwhelmed by the fake cheery joy that filled the holiday, and they were standing in the middle of a cemetary sharing one of the best moments of their young lives.
Loren closed his eyes for a split second before putting his hand in her hair. As he opened his eyes and gazed down at her, he couldn't help but feel like a big brother of sorts to Samantha. He knew it was an odd feeling, but it was an oddly-good feeling. He released the embrace and grinned. He took her hand in his. "What do you say to going back to that nut house full of fake smiles and holiday cheer?"
(ooc: hey, Samantha, if you answer yes then we can continue this posting in the Great Hall...what do ya think?)

Samantha thought about the reason she had even decided to walk down here tonight. She was glad however that she did. She sighed as she looked out into the night. Inside it was warm, and dry, and crazy. "Sounds good." She said holding his hand. "However I cannot promise you I won't go insane and beat someone up." She said, laughing. "I don't think you know how annoyed I get around dumb people. And almost everyone gets dumb about this time of year." She added, with a grin on her face. She thought about how many people were fretting over hair and the going on's. About the dance, and about boys/girls. She figured she was abnormal for not minding so much about all that. She was a little crazy about the way she looked, but she wasn't one to freak about everything. She started to walk out of the graveyard, knowing Loren would follow. (ooc:::MUAH ! now you get to go post in the great hall. aren't i sweet, i save that all for you.My muse died i think...)
