Carmen rose up, the waterline going further down her legs with each shakey step she took. Sam chuckled inwardly, wondering how such a tiny thing as she could stay warm in such cold water. The cold stung at his wet nose and ears, and Sam had no reservations about shivering. Pulling his heavy coat off, he took a moment to wring it out thoroughly and flap it a few times. As soon as it stopped dripping, he flung it up over his head and drapped it down over Carmen's shoulders.
"Here, its this way." Sam said, taking her hand and gently leading her through the foliage. His grip was firm enough to keep her on track with him through the branches, but not so tight that she couldn't pull away if she so wished. Sam didn't blame Carmen if she didn't trust him, as he had no right to possess a thing as someone else's trust. Aside from that, he was just in a hurry to have her warmed up, and himself as well.
"So then, what brings you out here, anyway?" Sam asked over his shoulder, genuinely curious.

Stupid cold... stupid shivering... stupid stupid... muttered Carmen in the depths of her thoughts. In a futile attempt to warm herself up, she tightened her arm's grip around her torso. Why did she have to go into the water at such a stupid time and such a stupid temperature? She scolded herself again, and paused so that she wouldn't lose her balance from all the shivering. It was then that she heard a tightening of cloth.
When she had looked up, the cloth-cloak had been flung around her shoulders. Had he not taken her hand to pull her along gently, she would have protested and said that he should be warming up instead of her, but since he did take her hand, the girl became distracted and focused on not holding on too tightly.
Her sapphire studded eyes flung right at the side of his face as he asked her something over her shoulder. Deciphering it, she answered "Oh, just wanted a swim..." The cloak he had put on her started helping as much as a wet one could, because she had stopped stammering when she spoke. "Thank you." she spoke. she spoke. something what?
