“WHOOHOO!” a boy yelled. He streaked down the field on a broom, the wind howling because it couldn’t catch up. He pushed himself into a steep dive to the ground, daring himself to go just a little further. “Wait for it...” he told himself. “Just a little bit more...NOW!” He jerked up at the broom’s handle. The school broom was a bit old, however, and its reaction time wasn’t as fast as it used to be. Aylen hauled up and was finally rewarded as the broom ground to a halt and sent the redhead tumbling head over heels in front of his friends. “Eh, hullo,” he said looking up at them. “I was bored, so I came early...”

Makira walked briskly to the Pitch, changed into her Qudditch-like flying robes. Her crimson cloak fluttered behind her as Bolt trotted to keep up beside her: she was so excited, she didn't realise how fast she was walking! Her chocolate, medium-length hair blew behind her as a breeze blew against her form. Bolt's tail as wagging widly as they walked over. Her Firebolt was clutched tightly in hand as she strode over.
Makira head a great "WHOOHOO!" and thought: Aylen.
*'Hrm.. here early?'* she thought.
Bolt barked at him once they were in earshot. She looked around with bright eyes as she recalled the great thrill of flying. She was going to take a step forward, when Aylen tumbled over nearby.
"Oh, hello, Aylen." she said brightly.
She mounted her broom immediately and took off, Bolt chasing her shadow on the lush grass of the Pitch floor.
Her hair whipped behind her, as did her robes, as she flew around joyously, whooping as she went.

“Aw man, how am I supposed to do this on an ancient broom?” Aylen moaned. The broom shuddered as if it heard him. “Why don’t they let first years have broomsticks? I want my Nimbus,” he grumbled sourly. He recovered his broomstick and took off after Makira. “Wait for me, Makira!” He did a few loop de loops just to show off.

Loki stepped out confidently onto the green of the quidditch pitch, dressed rather differently to his normal attire of trousers and full length black coat. Once they had got back from Hogsmeade he had gone briskly to the Ravenclaw commonroom and changed into his old black and crimson Durmstrang flying robes and picked up his Firebolt mark-two, making sure that it had not sustained any damage in transit between schools. His parents had always been able to afford the best for him, though that may have changed since his depature from Durmstrang. He didn't know, not having written to them since his arrival at MH.
Once out on the field, however, he forgot all about his parents and the state of his broom, smiling up at Aylen as he showed off before Makira. He had not been lying when he said that he was good, and Makira wasn't too bad either, though she had the air of a beginner about her.
Climbing onto his broom Loki kicked smartly off the firm ground, the wind forcing his long hair off his face, sending it streaming out behind him. Catching Loki when he was flying was generally the only time you could be assured of actually seeing his whole face for more than a few seconds at once. He sped up to where Aylen was catching up Makira and pulled up at a split-second's notice, smiling his slow smile at them both.
"You the only two so far?" he asked them, having to push his now tangled hair from his face with his hand again now he had stopped. "Are we just flying today or have you brought the quidditch balls?"

A fairly tall skinny but athletic girl strode out onto the quidditch pitch carrying one of the school brooms over her shoulder. Her violently purple hair shone amythest in the sunlight and her stunningly bright green eyes glinted slightly. A casual grin lay comfortably on her lips, and instead of the traditional flying robes, she donned a loose but not overly baggy pair of faded blue jeans and a form-fitting green short sleeved t-shirt with a small brightly coloured image of a snail, underneath which were embroidered the words 'cosmic snail' in black letters.
Sylph had come out that afternoon intending to practice her flying skills, having only flown a couple of times with instruction before now. She was disappointed however, to find that the pitch was already in use. Then she realised that two of those people were Aylen and Makira, and cheered up again.
"Hey guys!" she called as she strode over to the ground beneath where they hovered, waving up at them. She sat astride her broom and kicked off hard, sending herself flying vertically upwards at terrifying speed. At least, terrifying for people looking. Sylph's slim frame was perfect for flying, and she loved it. Her hair streamed out in a violet curtain behind her until she pulled up without warning, hovering just above a tall boy, a little older than she was. He had blonde hair that obscured most of his face, but Sylph could tell that he was handsome. She smiled cheerily at him and then waved again at Aylen and Makira.
"What ya doin' guys?" she called, grinning her characteristic Sylph grin. "Mind if I join you?"

Aylen paused his flying to let Loki catch up. “Hiya...what? You have a Firebolt too?! Unbelievable...” He stared enviously at his fellow friends’ Firebolts. “Evil school rules...I want a good broom...” he muttered.
“No, I didn’t bring balls,” Aylen said. “We need enough people to get up a game, first.” Speaking of getting more people, a familiar flash of purple caught his eye. Before his brain could register who it was, Sylph was already up in the air with them. “Hello!” grinned Aylen cheerfully. He barrel rolled to his left, closer to Sylph, so she could hear. “We’re hoping to play a game of Quidditch, but if we don’t have enough people, we’re just going to play around, I guess.”<br> He noted that Sylph did not have flying robes on, and realized that in his hurry to fly, he hadn’t bothered with them either. His school uniform was going to need quite a bit of ironing later on.

After coming back from Hogsmeade, Aidana had rushed off to Gryffindor Tower. She quickly changed into her flying robes and looked out her window. She could see three figures standing on the Pitch and another one walking towards them. She quickly grabbed her broom, and headed outside. Approaching them, she called out.
" Hey you guys! So, are we playing a game or just racing?"

Loki was surprised to see a purple haired girl that he had never seen before - though with hair like that he really should have - zoom up and join them. She was slender and fairly attractive, this made more so by her rather quirky movements and grin. She seemed like she would make a good friend, though his basis for that was minimal. Probably in Gryffindor, too, he mused, noting her friendship with Aylen and Makira. Just then, yet another Gryffindor turned up; it was Aidana. Well, at least someone else was wearing the proper garb for quidditch.
"Just racing for now, it seems," Loki replied swiftly, glancing humouredly at Aidana's brother. "Nobody remembered to bring the quidditch set. Which is rather a shame, I'm not much built for racing." A slow smile tugged at the corners of his lips. Indeed, Loki did seem rather tall for a racer. "I do make a fairly good beater though," he smiled. "Perhaps I should have brought my bat down. No matter."
He glanced up at the violet haired girl, his long hair fully obscuring one green-flecked blue eye.
"Pleased to make your aquaintance," he called up to her, still somehow managing to make his voice seem quiet. "I'm Loki. May I ask your name?"

Sylph raised her right hand and waved in such a way that she only wiggled her fingers. That and a wide grin were the only greetings she gave her friends, but knew that it didn't matter, the sentiment was there whatever. Her face fell slightly as Loki said that they would most likely be racing on their brooms today, but it was a momentary thing.
"Hey, I like the 'just messing around' thing better," she called down to them, manovering her broom a little lower so she didn't have to shout quite so much. Can't we just get some quidditch balls and chuck 'em around a bit? Anyone could outstrip me on this old thing," she added, grinning slightly as she indicated her rather scruffy-looking school broom. She turned her startlingly bright green eyes upon the tall blonde boy.
"Alright?" she said. "Loki, is it? Nice to meet you. I'm Sylph." She moved her broom a little closer and stretched out her hand for him to shake. She smiled at him slightly. He was handsome. But no, she wasn't going down that road, not now. Probably had girls all over him anyway, and Sylph wasn't the type to bother herself with such frivalous matters.
"A good beater, eh?" she asked, raising a single dark eyebrow at him. "Huh. Not many people I've met want to be beaters, everyone seems to want to be seeker, like it's glamorous..." The way she said it suggested that glamour was the last thing she would ever reduce herself to, like fame and fortune meant nothing to her. And it was true, it didn't.
"I'd like to be a chaser myself," she went on, shrugging slightly, tossing her hair absentmindedly off her shoulders where it was beginning to annoy her. "Though I could probably do alright as keeper as well, seems I have pretty good reactions..." She looked humouredly at Aidana, remembering their last practice together. That had been tough, but enjoyable, and it had turned out that Sylph had an innate talent for flying, though considering her good abilities at most muggle sports, this was perhaps unsurprising.
"So, who wants to go get the balls?" she asked them all expectantly.

Without warning, Aylen dived down field, spiraling as he went. His hair was now windswept beyond repair and he had the daredevil flyboy grin on his face. He skimmed the ground, and snatched something from the grass. He flew upwards just as fast as he had dived. He looked at what he had in his hand. "Huh, what a funny looking ball," he commented. He had a golf ball in his hand. "Look at all these dents! You think we could play catch with this?"

Sylph grinned.
"Just as long as you don't get hit in the nose by it. It's a golf ball, my dad plays. Golf's that game where you hit a little ball round a course with clubs trying to get it in the hole. My Mam played once, too. Managed to break my dad's best friend's nose. Didn't even need to use the club..." Sylph took it from him and backed away a little on her broom.
"At least it's about the same size as a snitch. We could bewitch it to make it fly or something." She looked at the others, before throwing it back to Aylen. "What'd'ya think?"
OOC: that golf story's a true one, you know...

"Clubs? hitting it around?" Aylen was thoroughly confused. An image of a caveman whacking the little ball flashed through his mind. "Uh...okay."
He sat back on his broom and backed away from the group. "Alright, how about this. We split into teams. We have to try and score this thing throught the Quidditch hoops. We're all basically Chasers and Keepers. Is everyone okay with that?"
(ooc: I'm not allowed near the golf clubs. I'm too dangerous to be around them. I'm only allowed to touch the putter... ;D )

Makiar had slowed down and started to space out, when she realised she and Aylen weren't alone.
Aylen's sister, Aidana, Sylph, and Loki had joined them.
She flew over and said, "Hullo, all. Sorry: spacing."
She smiled and flew about the Pitch, just thinking and wondering if they were going to have a match, which caused her to feel anxiety and nervouness
*'Oh, great'* she thought.

Aidna looked up into the air, and saw everyone greeting eachother. Well, there was no use staying down here, was there? She mounted her broomand kicked off, the wind pulling her auburn hair back. She leveled off her broom at the same height of everybody else, and looked to Sylph. She remembered the last time they had been here. It was fun, to say the least.
" You do have good reactions Sylph!" she said to the violet haired girl. " You'd do well on the Quidditch team. Quidditch isn't my forte anyway. I'm more of a racing person."
Just as she said this, Aylen streaked off and returned with an odd looking ball. What were all the weird marks on the ball anyway? She hardly followed Sylph's explination, but thought better of asking her about them. Muggles did very weird things sometimes, they didn't have sports in which they flew! She nodded in agreement to Aylen's proposal, and headed towards the goal posts. She would play keeper for this game.

Sylph shrugged, happy with the decision. At least the could practice her catching and passing skills, even her goal keeping ones if she didn't get too distracted. She nodded her agreement and did a couple of loops on her broom to prepare herself. She was, after all, playing with the twins, both experienced fliers, and the other two were on Firebolts, for Earth's sake! She really had to be on the ball with this one. What she lacked in broom she would have to make up for in sheer skill. She hoped she would be as good as she was last time, but then she reminded herself that this was just a light-hearted game for fun, and felt much better. Still, Sylph had a competative streak in her a mile long, inherited from her father and his love for all things sporting. Well, she was an O'Dell, wasn't she? She didn't like to loose, and therefore rarely did.
"Sounds cool," she commented, noticing Makira's apparent nerves and shooting her a reassuring look. "Need to be on teams of three, then, right? Only, there's only five of us." She frowned slightly, pretending that counting was somewhat difficult for her. "Is there anyone else coming?"
