A very large change of scene indeed. Ever since he had arrived, he had been rather hostile towards almost every single person he had come across, and that didn't leave anyone out really. Not even the little sister he claimed his own. But she, unlike the majority of the others, knew there was a different side to his apparant 'prick'-like style approach. Though it was her twelfth birthday, he wasn't going to change for the others.
Strapped in a sharp tuxido of full black and shiny black shoes, Cedric held himself snobbishly high and stared down his nose at the appearance of the room. Black metallic everywhere. Just like Alyson, of whom was constantly attempting to change Makira to be the same as her. Sure enough as he gazed around the room, his eyes fell upon girl he knew. Two different loves felt.
With both his hands shoved deep into his pants pockets, he strode slowly through the little gathering of people and stopped in front of Alyson, eyeing her up and down with sincere fake analytical eyes. "The Feral's another year older, and hasn't even shown up yet," he play-mocked with a kidding smirk as he fiddled with the small gift held within the confines of his pocket.

"Thanks, it has to look great for Maki-chan." she answered, flashing Kasey another smile.
Moving her gaze to Cedric, she rose a brow. She hadn't thought he could be bothered to show up for his sister's birthday party. Her gaze roamed over his attire before lazily making it's way back up to meet his. He really did look handsome in the all black tuxedo, it was just a shame about the attitude.
"She'll show. As the guest of honor she's probably waiting to make a killer entrance." she answered defensively. Turning towards the others, she asked "Have any of you met Maki's delightful older brother Cedric?"

Morgan gave a warm smile that passed as sincere. She had to keep up appearances after all. "Not at all sweets, you look lovely. And thanks for helping me last week with that bullet." She retained her smile as the bottomless black pits that were her eyes danced around the room. When Alyson greeted her though, she could tell the girl had an inkling of what was going on with Morgans soul. What little of it there was anyway. Time to play up her wonderful acting skills. Her smile gained even more sincerity.
"You made the place look wonderful. My compliments...Alyson was it? Please forgive my rudeness, I'm Morgan." she twirled the parasol innocently. A few people came in. One she recognized from the pillow fight, another obviously from Japan that didnt understand english very well. Then, the doors opened to reveal a boy with a slightly 'Holier than thou' appearance. Not one to rival Morgans of course, but still. Apparently Maki's brother.
"Hello." She said slowly, watching the exchange between Alyson and Cedric. Probably wasn't noticed and she wouldn't be too happy about that.

A tall and slender figure strode into the room in a fashion not really befitting her outfit. Whilst the thigh-length blue kimono-dress looked superbly elegant on Sylph's althetic frame her method of walking did not differ from her usual long strides, which quite honestly was far more suited to trousers. On her feet she wore big clompy black boots, mostly open, but somehow managed to carry it off with the delicate dress and still look good doing it. Sylph was like that.
Turning her head, sending her violet locks swirling around her shoulders, she viewed the room with interest. So Makira wasn't here yet. She'd better hurry up, Sylph thought as she raised a single dark brow. I'm not staying in a dress for much longer... She had, after all, only worn this because her friend, so fond of Japanese culture, might find it pleasing, though amusing might be more accurate, Sylph thought again.
Deciding to head straight for the punch bowl, Sylph spied a few people she knew, and a few that she didn't, and grabbed a drink, disappointed that it wasn't alcoholic. Still, Makira was only turning fourteen, it probably wouldn't be appropriate. Leaning gently against the table, stretching out her long pale legs straight in front of her, Sylph waited for someone to come over and make conversation.

[glow=purple,2,300] Finally, something light and happy.. Dovie thought as she floated down the stone corridors to the dance hall. She had actually dressed up in some of her "civilized" clothing, as others liked to call it. Ironically enough, it was what's called a Lily gown. It was a jet-black dress made of crushed velvet. A corset-styled torso laced up the front, revealing an emerald green silk panel the color of Dovie's eyes. Black silk ribbons trimmed the plunging v-shaped neckline, and the gorgeous, flowing bell sleeves swept the floor behind Dovie as she made her way towards the Dance Hall's front doors. The skirt of the dress dragged slightly behind her, creating the illusion of a small train on the cobblestone floor, and some sort of shimmering fabric overlayed the entire dress. She wore her finest heels, given to her by a glassblower she had met while living in Eire. That's right...glass slippers, something straight out of a fairytale. Highly unusual for Dovie, her shoes clacked as she finally stopped in front of the door. Her long black hair had been pulled up into a bun, and she'd done a braid that twisted around it (think: bun with a braid in a circle around it). She glanced down at the white box and burgundy velvet bow she held in her hands and looked back up at the door. This wasn't usually her style, but hey...she had a feeling everyone else was dressed up as well. She turned the knob on the door and carefully tiptoed inside. A flood of relief washed over her as she saw others dressed nicely, and spied two friends already there; Aylen and Sylph. She sighed, gave a wide grin, and was about to walk over to them when she noticed a girl standing by the door. Figuring she was one of Makira's friends there to greet people, she spoke in a cheerful tone. "Oh, hello..!" Dovie gave a warm smile, her tan skin shimmering slightly as she turned to face the girl and stick out her hand. "Hi, I'm Dovie. I'm guessing Maki-chan's coming in a bit later... What's your name..?" Dovie's green eyes were very bright today, not the usual foresty green. Her ruby red lips spread in another calm, friendly smile as she looked at the girl and awaited a reply of some sort. In the meantime, she gave a little wave over to Sylph and Aylen behind her back.[/glow] OOC: www.yosa.com/catalog/fantasy/burgundylily2b.jpg Think that, but all black with a green silk panel in the middle, a v-neck, and bell sleeves instead of straight ones. Oh, and a special kind of overlay on the dres.. >_> ^^ You'll find out later if you want ^^"

Keelin walked in slowly, her long white dress dragging on the floor. Her hair was up in a long braid and her normally pink hair bands were now white and dark red. She had a bag that was bright red and had white ribbons on as the handles. She looked around to see if she could see Makira, but she wasn't there, or wasn't were she could see her. ooc: here the dress, www.katrinamariedesigns.com/WG365gowndrapeXS.jpg

Makira Blackthorne was getting fressed in her dorm in Gryffindor Tower - it was her birthday! She was twelve, now, and glad. One year closer to being a teenager! She grinned at the thought of being one year closer to Cedric. She brushed off her outfit and looked in her mirror, a satisfied grin on her round, young face.
Makira was wearing a bright scarlet kimono, and a dark blue obi with dark green stripes that wrapped around her small figure nicely. The bottom going up and around the skirt was lined with pink sakuras and the bottoms of her sleeves faded from red to purple, then blue with sakuras as well and it fit her small frame perfectly. Her feet were in contrasting white tabi and black getas. Her medium length brown hair spilled around her shoulders and back and her bright amber speckled eyes were actually shining with happiness.
Today, the old Makira her friends knew and loved, was back for her birthday.
Getas clacked against the marble flooring of the school as she wandered towards the Dance Hall, ready to sing some JRock faves. She arrived at the doors, and opened them, her eyes closed, humming to herself. Amber speckled eyes opened to see a party or some sort.. her gaze found the banner - it was for her.
".. Oh my..." ahe whispered as her eyes wandered the Dance Hall. Sylph, Aylen, Beka, Aly, Cedric, Kasey, Forgoil, Keelin, Dovie, Morgan... Wow..
Makira's gaze continued to wander around the room. She saw a band (*'JROCK!! WAIII!!!!'*), balloons everywhere, drinks and food on tables.. everything..
"Wow.." she whispered. A happy grin broke out on her face.
((OOC - Obi - a sash that wraps around the waist and ties in the back Tabi - socks, basically Getas - Japanese clogs
And forgive the crappy post - I left it off like that in case y'all wanna yell 'Surprise!" or sommat. ^^U))

"Hiya Dovie, I'm Alyson. An old friend of Makira's." she answered brightly.
Looking around the room, she spotted another guest close by. She was about to call her over and greet her when she recognized the figure walking in. Turning her back on Cedric and the other gbuests, she ran to her old friend. Throwing her arms around her small frame, she hugged her tightly before letting go.
"Maki-chan! Happy Birthday!" she exclaimed happily, a wide grin covering her features. Scanning her eyes down Maki's traditional outfit, she added "You look amazing."
Slipping her hand into a concealed pocket, she pulled out a velvet pouch. Inside was a beautiful necklace crafted of the lightest silver. An amythest pendelum wrapped in a silver dragon, hung from it like the talisman it was. Handing the pouch over to Maki, she smiled again and said "I hope you like it. You can use it in divination, or if you ever learn to scry."

Keelin walked up to Makira and smile. "Happy Birthday. Here you go." she handed Makira the bag. It had a book in it on light magic, it was leather bound book with sliver writing titled Light magic: Spells and Ritals

"Well, since the guest of honor has finally arrived, I think it's time we get this party rolling." she called out, loud enough so the other guests could hear.
Grabbing Maki by the arm, she gently led her over to where the others were grouped together. A faint smile seemed permenantly etched on her features, and now it grew as she heard the band switch into a lovely soft-j/rock song. Pausing to look at Forgoil, she asked "Forgoil, care to take the birthday girl out on the dance floor?"
Leaving Maki in the care of the hippie-dressed Hufflepuff, Aly strolled over to Cedric. Coming to a stop in front of him, she crossed her arms over her chest. Lowering her tone of voice a few notches, she assumed a more masculine voice before saying "May I have this dance?"
Though her voice did sound slightly rougher, it didn't even come close to sounded like a man's voice. But the point was clear. She knew Cedric wouldn't ask her to dance; she wanted to dance and annoy him a bit. So why not kill two birds with one stone. Grinning widely, she raised a brow in a silent dare.

Before anything had really happened, and after Alyce had answered Cedric, more people billowed through the doors. Makira was obviously quite popular, Taking after her brother he thought to himself pompously. By then though, Alyce had placed a boy in a rather tough situation of dancing with Cedric's sister. Quickly he pushed past them all and for once beamed down on his sister.
"I'd like the first dance," Cedric said quickly, almost asking her. It was times like these that Cedric felt like the biggest idiot, but it was probably these times Makira loved him the most. When he wasn't a prick so much. His rather large hand grasped the miniscule one of the birthday girl and spun her around affectionately.

"Looks like you're off the hook." she said to Forgoil, a faint smile on her lips.
Despite being brushed off the way she had, she wasn't angry. She was happy to see Cedric wasn't acting like a complete prick at the moment. It was one of the rare times she'd seen him act nicely, almost warmly, to his sister. It was times like this that made her wonder why he couldn't always be this way.
Swaying in time to the music, she watched as he twirled Makira around the dance floor.

OOC: *yells* Surprise. BIC: The light that spilled from the windows created wavy shadows on the grass outside the castle and the small cracks in the bricks and the window panes allowed the atmosphere of the party to slowly drift across the grounds, eventually reaching a Vampire sitting contentedly by the lake. This night Sungai wasn't itching or craving a meal, just mildly curious as to the cause of the excited atmosphere. Prowling through the grounds, Sungai watched the shadows flickering on the grass for a moment before shifting forward to look through the windows. He smirked at the scene before him and pushed gently against the window. The pane swung noiselessly open and before anyone noticed, Sungai had stepped up and settled himself against the window pane, sitting along the bottom with his back leaning against the side. He rummaged in his pocket and extracted a cigarette, lighting up with practised ease and scanned the room for a familiar face. There it was. He recognised two girls from the Quidditch Pitch. One was trying to scam some cigarettes from him, the other was a terrified mess of a girl with a big black dog. Viewing the girl who seemed to be so scared on the night at the Pitch, it was quite obvious that the celebrations revolved around her. Sungai took a deep drag on his cigarette and wondered how long his prescence would go unnoticed for.

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie didn't get a chance to manage out the word "Pleasure!" in response to Alyson's introduction before Makira walked in. In a Kimono, of course... Dovie smiled warmly to herself, her emerald eyes shining, and stifled a giggle at the obviousness of it all. She gave a light, contented sigh and strolled quietly over to the tables, the black crushed velvet skirt of her dress trailing behind, and set her gift box down at the end. Inside was something she couldn't quite explain fully; a Light Orb. It was crystal-clear spherical object that could hold light and help control it, and was used very much by students of elemental magic to help them focus. That, however, was not the only thing. It was wrapped in a very fine silk Obi interlaced with glass fibers for strenght and delicacy, and it lay gently on top of a contrasting-colored kimono. The kimono was a very light pink, and the obi was a dark, dark forest green with cherry blossom applique handwork along the center. The lining of the kimono was a matching green, with light pink apple blossoms printed onto it, and the outer layer had dark green vine work along the hems and collar. Dovie hoped very much that Makira would enjoy it, and especially get a kick out of the interwoven glass fibers. It'll sparkle whenever she moves, just like her. Dovie smiled to herself and moved towards the windows. So many things have happened here... Dovie eyed the back window and moved towards the ones by the doors instead, wanting to avoid those memories for however long she could hold out. She was about to turn to face the windows when a thought struck her, and she headed towards the punch bowl instead, her dress twirling clockwise and then counter-clockwise from the movement. The punch was there, along with cups, but nothing had been poured... So why not do it herself? Dovie was the helping type, and figured it would be best if she was more social today instead of being the lonesome one by the windows. Dovie strolled over, her heels clacking (quite an unusual feeling for Dovie), and gently lifted the ladel from the crystal bowl. She slipped her dark hand around a glass and used the ladel to begin pouring the punch into it. She filled up 12 glasses, figuring it was enough for everyone there, and arranged the glasses on the table in front of the punch bowl. Everyone was dancing, or swaying, or talking, and she wished not to interrupt them. There was one, however, that was detatched from the rest... She could feel the presence and she walked over with a glass. She quietly and carefully lifted the glass, her head bowed slightly, and she spoke. "Here, drink this. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and it may get you into the festivities more..." Dovie chanced looking up slightly, her eyes just to the left of his face, and she gave a small smile. "...So...what's your name..?"[/glow]
