Aednat nearly got lost on her way to Transfiguration, so she had only stepped through the doorway when she had to turn around again. Her big blue eyes twinkled with excitement as she looked at the other students- so many new faces- so many new friends! She hung back as she didn't know where they were heading, fastening her cloak around her.
When they reached their destination, she listened eagerly to Professor Romani's directions. As soon as they were told to start, she took out her wand. This was her first class, she was looking forward to learning something new. "Accio rodent!" she said clearly in her lilting Irish voice. The mouse flew through the air and she caught it in her two hands. "Hey!" she said softly, "Don't be scared!" She looked at it for a moment, concentrating on a vivid red colour. "Rodentia cor red" she said. She closed her eyes tightly for a few moments, and the opened them again. The mouse was pink. "Pink!" she muttered, eyebrows raised. She focused on the red colour again, unconsiously twirling a dark brown curl around her finger as she often did when she was concentrating. "Rodentia cor red!" she repeated, and did a little jump into the air when the mouse turned red. Then she laughed, realising what she'd been doing. She thought she'd try a few more colours. "Rodentia cor green!" she said, and the mouse turned the colour of an emerald. "Rodentia cor orange!" "Rodentia cor yellow!" She watched the mouse change colour a few times, thoroughly enjoying herself.
After a few minutes, she remembered she was supposed to start trying to turn the mouse into a vase once she had mastered the colour-changing spell. "Right...vase..."she said softly, trying to bring a particular one to mind to focus on. Unfortunately, the first one that had sprung to mind was a hideous brown affair that her grandmother had had, and try as she might, she couldn't get that image out of her head. "Fine," she said, "Formus retainum". On the second try, her mouse turned into a dull, boring vase. She decided to have another go, hoping that, like the other spell, once you had gotten the hang of it it was easier. A few minutes later, she stood carefully holding a green china vase, convinced she'd drop it before long.
I kind of preffered it when it was a mouse...it was furry...and much harder to break...
The only problem then was...the horse. And Professor Romani had made it sound like it would be different and more difficult to change the horse. She sat looking at the stallion, head tilted to one side.
Well done with the color alteration, 5pts, 3.5 for the case, I asked for a clear vase, and no attempt on the horse? 8.5 pts.

konnoka walked out with all the th students and listened to the professor. she then said " accio rodent " and she picked up the smallest one there. After a bit of trying all kinds of colors on the rat she yelled '' formus retainum" Turing it into a clear vase, and then she sat and waited for other students to try on the horse.
2 for the color, 2 for the vase. Please place more effort in the construct of your classroom posts. 4 pts.

The moonlight manifestation that was Romani, was like a bubbling ray of sunshine in her approval at her beloved student's progress. They were all doing well and she expected no less. She was delighted that they met her one true requirement that held true in all her classes: effort.
She noticed that many were beginning to eye the large black stallion standing silently off to the side, which was watching them with alert eyes and ears. With a large smile, she directed everyone's attention to the horse.
"As everyone has pretty much wrapped up with the first two spells, I'd like to go on with this creature here." Professor Romani made her way to the horse and laid a slim, pallid hand on its neck. "Much like the color changing spell, you will use equinas cor whatever color you wish though I would suggest trying to start with a darker color, such as brown or dark green or blue." For extra credit, you must pm me.

Xarian decided to try it. She imagined the deep violet of her blanket on her bed at home. "Equinas cor violet!"
She tried her best, and looked up to se if it had worked.
5 pts. for the color, 3.5 for the vase, I asked for a clear vase, and 1 for the horse. I like to see more effort put into posts. 9.5 pts.

Fae hurried across the castle's surroundings, trying to find the spot where Transfiguration was being hold. She bit her lip in frustration. She hated being new and so awfully ignorant of all that was going on in the castle! She looked around and, not knowing what to do, she asked a girl about it. The girl said she'd have to change the colour of a mouse, then change it into a vase, then, for extra credit, to change the colour of the horse. Fae looked pittifully at the half empty case of mice, and Summoned one. She smiled. At least they didn't all crash into her, like the Quaffles had. The little roddent squeaked in between her fingers. 'Let's change your colour, little one...' A deep breath. Closing her eyes, she concentrated. Open eyes. Fixed on the mouse. Closed eyes. "Rodentia Cor Green!" She looked at the mouse and nearly jumped with joy. She did it! And on her first try! Now that was something new. 'Now let's try something more difficult,' she thought, then tried to change it into black. It worked! Amazing! 'I think I found my new favorite subject!' She suddenly frowned at the mouse. She remembered about the vase thingy. Trying wouldn't hurt... Closed eyes. Opened eyes. Look at mice. Colsed eyes. Say it! "Formus retainum!" The mouse in her hands begun to morph, and morph until Fae was holding a porcelain vase for flowers. At the sudden change of form and weight, her hands slipped and the vase went with a crash on the hard ground. She sighed sadly. Poor mouse...
Professor Romani quickly utterly a spell and waved her wand over the shattered pieces. "Do not worry, when the mouse's form was altered, their state was frozen as well. When the form is returned, their state should be as good as before." The mouse's form instantly returned to that of the white mouse, twitching its nose and stretching up on its back legs. No effort on the horse though... 5 pts for the color, 3.5 for the vase because it was supposed to be clear. 8.5 pts. all together.

Quickly enough before her mouse scuttled off, the girl cried out "formus retainum!" Very slowly the mouse's neck elongated to form the stem of the vase, its mouth opened to form the rim and its body fattened to become the base. Eventually the malformed rodent faded to a clear colour, leaving the pattern of fur embedded in the glass, though not a real trace of its fur was left. She grinned at herself, but then looked to the massive beast.
"Oh gods..." she muttered. Wandering over quite casually, she raised her wand and pointed it at the horses forehead. Though she had expected it to go cross-eyed, it didn't. That helped in hinting, a little, as to what it really was. "Equinas cor white!" she muttered. Carmen didn't yell it because the creature was very close to her, and she didn't want to hurt its ears, whatever it was.
The patch where she had pointed her wand looked like it had been splotched with a great gob of white paint. Harder and harder she concentrated, wishing it to become fully white. And eventually, it did! "HAHA!" Carmen cried out triumphantly. But something occured to the girl. Something within his eyes told her what he was. Carmen let out a very loud gasp, then rushed over to the teacher's side, whispering what she had come up with.
Oh, she hoped she was right!
(OOc: Sorry, I actually wanted Carmen to get something right for a change.)
A very good job Carmen! You are awarded full points, as well as extra credit. Take 25 pts.

As Carmen excitedly stretched up to whisper in her ear, Professor Romani's smile stretched like a sunlit horizon. Romani beamed at her student as she straightened her taller form.
"You are quite right, Carmen. Othello, here... is an animangus." Romani placed a hand on Othello's shoulder as the horse began to morph into a rather tall, solid man. A pearly scar in the middle of his forehead resembled the white star on the horse. His dark skin was nearly as black as the horse's coat and his dread locks reached his slim waist. With a large hand, he made a small wave with his hand before sliding it into his jean pocket.
"Animangi use a type of transfiguration when they alter their forms," Romani began to explain. "As you can see, many of Othello's traits were evident in his animagus form. His dark skin, his muscular build, his hair, and the notable scar on his forehead. All animagi have a distinguishing mark that they must point out when they register with the Ministry of Magic, a requirement for all animagi."
She turned to Othello and bowed from her waist, letting her utterly long curtain of hair fall to the ground. "Thank you, my friend. I know you have to be somewhere soon and I thank you for your time." Standing next to Othello deeply contrasted her palidity, but her gratitude was evident in her demeanor.
"It was my pleasure, dear Astraea. Do call upon me again if you are need of my services." Othello returned her bow before morphing his form once again and galloping away.
Turning back to the class, she snapped her fingers and caused the table, the box, and the mice to return back to her room. "Well done, everyone! Class dismissed!"

I'd like to clarify my point system for this assignment. Full points for successfully changing the color of the mouse was 5 pts. Full points for successfully changing the mouse into a CLEAR vase, was 5 pts. (please listen to instructions carefully). Successfully changing the horse's color was 10 pts. Extra credit was 5 pts. When I grade, I base largely on whether you put effort into your roleplaying of the class and your participation in it and your outcome. If your post is exemplorary but you did not successfully do what was required, the penalty is minimal, perhaps a point or two.
Gryffindor = 46 pts. Ravenclaw = 21.5 pts. Hufflepuff = 25 pts. Slytherin = 8.5 pts.
