"There is a door exactly eight inches in front of you. Please pull it open before proceeding."
Kira sighed, reaching her left hand out to locate the door that was supposedly in front of her. Fingers brushed smooth oak, and soon a handle, which she pulled. That done, she moved slowly forward, pushing the door closed behind her.
"OK, now all I have to do is find someplace to sit," she muttered, listening to the sounds of utensils scraping against plates and the tinkle of ice in glasses.
"There is a table six point three three feet in front of you. Eight point six feet to your right is another table. There is..."
"Alright, alright!" Kira exclaimed in annoyance. "You don't have to go on and on. I get the picture."
The blue-eyed girl moved slowly forward, now-silent cane tapping rhythmically against the ground.
"It's no wonder they found you at the bottom of the lake," she growled at the stick in her hand, fingers gripping tightly to the smoothly polished wood.
She felt the cane bump into something and reached forward, hand coming to rest on the back of a chair. Pulling it out she sat down, wondering what to do next.

Ashlle's Duties in the Hospital Wing were pretty much done for the day. She was tried and hungry, but mostly hungry so she decided to get some dinner before she went to finish her homework in the Gryffindor Common Room. While walking down to the Great Hall she began to wonder how Kira and her new Stick were doing.
I wonder if she'd realized that the more information you give it the better it works? she though I suppose if I see her again I ought to tell her. Finally she made it down to the Greta Hall and immediately zeroed in on Kira sitting at the Slytherin table. Most of the Slytherins were avoiding her, but one of them was about to dump a pudding on her head.
"Hey! You there, Slytherin boy! You will stop this instant!" at first the boy just laughed at her, but then Ashlle ran over and flashed her Head Nurse Badge. "You will stop, or next time you are hurt I'll let you bleed to death!" She hissed to him. He looked scared, for he recognized her not only at the Head Nurse but as a Rainier and he knew from his parents not to mess around where a Rainier was involved. He put the pudding back on the table and sat back down.
"Kira" said Ashlle "You've sat yourself at the Slytherin table! Why didn't you ask the Speaking Cane where the Gryffindor Table was?"
OOC: I'm soryy if that is God moding. I'll change it if it is.

Kira was sitting at the table, wondering what to do about food, when a voice from behind her yelled at someone to stop what they were doing. She heard a chuckle from above her head, then footsteps coming toward her. She listened to a quick exchange of rather heated words between two students, recognizing the voice she had heard scolding as Ashlle's.
"Kira, you've sat yourself at the Slytherin table! Why didn't you ask the Speaking Cane where the Gryffindor Table was?"
Kira scowled at the question, grabbing the aforementioned cane and rising from her seat.
"'Cause it's far too annoying for its own good," she replied, whacking the object against the floor a couple times for good measure. "Besides, I didn't know that it mattered where I sat."
She shrugged, keeping an ear out for movement behind her. She had no idea what Ashlle had been scolding that boy about, but she certainly didn't want to let him sneak up on her. A sigh whispered over her lips and she turned toward Ashlle.
"Maybe you wouldn't mind leading the way," she suggested halfheartedly. "I really don't want to disturb these kind people's" a whack to the shins of the Slytherin sneaking up on her "dinner any more than I already have. And I'm sure that this.... device would do just that."

I told you a Companion would be better" said Ashlle trying not to laugh. Being able to see, the cane hadn't worked for her but she'd read the paper work about it throughly(what little there was). It really was a rather smart thing but in order to get alot out of it you have to put that much into it.
"Hear take my arm. I'll be glad to guide you to the Gryffindor table. By the way the only time it doesn't matter where you sit is when some one from another table invites you to sit with them. I'm sure that will happen soon enough."
It was hard not to laugh as Kira whacked the boy's ankles and the cane reported it: "Collision with a Slytherin Third Year's right shin, Collision with a Slytherin Third Year's left shin. Please try to avoid collisions."

Switching the still complaining cane to her left hand, Kira reached for Ashlle's arm. Right hand resting on the other's forearm, Kira turned her attention back to the moaning to her left.
"Shut up!" she snapped at the cane, glowering as its final words drifted off to be engulfed by the sounds of the Great Hall. With a curt nod to wards the stick, she turned back to Ashlle.
"Thank you," she said. "And I do agree, a companion would be much better. At least I wouldn't have to listen to any more whining!"
((Gah, bad post. Sorry! I did enjoy the "collision" comment(s) though! XD))

OOC: Oh thank you! ;D I did think the were a bit funny myself. You know, you can make the cane a bit smarter and less annoying if you want. Just a suggestion. By the way were did you get all those exact measurements?
BIC: Ashlle lead Kira away from the Slytherin table (after one last scathing look at the pudding boy), to a seat at the Gryffindor table near the dais where the teachers sat.
"Here we are, and by the way about your food question. The food appears before you all you have to do is help yourself. Be careful not to burn yourself, I'm sure if you point the Handle of the Speaking Cane at the table it can tell you what the foods and how far they are from you . . ."
Ashlle grinned. " . . . Or I could tell you if you want."

Kira followed Ashlle to the Gryffindor Table, sitting down with a relieved sigh. She reached forward slowly, feeling carefully for the plate and utensils. Locating them, she paused, frowning thoughtfully.
"I suppose I might as well get used to this thing," she muttered, lifting the cane so the handle was above the table.
"There is a plate one point two feet in front of you. The utensils are set in their appropriate places."
"Yeah, tell me something I didn't know," she muttered darkly, waiting for the cane to continue.
"There is a casserole two point six feet in front of you. Caution is advised as contents may be hot. Point five feet beyond the casserole is a bowl of mashed potatoes. Caution is advised as contents may be hot. Point three feet from the dish containing mashed potatoes is a boat of gravy. Caution is advised as contents may be hot. Three point two feet and to the left is a bowl of green beans. Caution is advised...."
"As contents may be hot," Kira finished for it, scowling. "I got the message. You don't have to tell me every time."
Reaching slightly to the right she leaned the cane against the neighboring chair, reaching forward to serve herself some food.
((But making it annoying is half the fun! Besides, it will motivate her even more to get a companion. Oh, and I just pulled the numbers out of thin air. There's no science to them, really, other than trying to make spacing realistic and not use the same number twice.))

OOC: Ahhh! (gets it now) Poor Speaking Cane! I knew him well, once when he was Kira tool! Alas he was too annoying and he shall forevermore lay in the Dark of the Hospital Wing closet! *giggle*
BIC: Unlike Kira, Ashlle was quite amused by the cane. Still she realized that she did not have to live with it and while it might be amusing to her she could certainly see how it wouldn't be to others.
Ashlle also decided to stay and eat with her new friend, thinking she might ask about Kira's background and perhaps learn how she came to be blind. " So" she began after they'd been eating for a moment. "Are you wizard born? I'm not asking to be mean -just so you know- I'm merely curious."

Finished serving up her plate- thankfully, without any accidents- Kira shuffled the food around her plate a bit. She wasn't overly interested in eating at the moment, just sitting and listening. At Ashlle's question she set her fork back down, turning slightly toward the other.
"Half, actually," she replied slowly. "My father was a wizard, my mom a muggle."
She stopped, debating whether she should continue. She really didn't like thinking back to her past.
"My dad left a couple years ago. My mom blamed me, said I had 'disappointed' him or some such thing. I didn't stay with her much longer...."
Her voice trailed off and she reached once more for her fork, if only for something to distract her from the tension in the air.

"Oh I see." said Ashlle. Ashlle didn't make much of a stink about Muggleborns or Half-and-halfs, She knew that everyone had their place in the world and the right to occupy that place. "I'm sorry to hear about your families troubles. Sometimes Muggles can be like that, when a Magic person is involved. It's tough when such experiences are so close to home."
Sometimes -huh- how about all the time! thought Ashlle to herself. Muggles are the cruelest creatures I know. No one knew but Ashlle had spent the first part of her life in three orphanages where she was cruelly used and maltreated by Muggles and her hate of them would never be cooled.
For some odd reason this Hate did not extend to Muggleborns however. Ashlle was sure if they'd know her past they would be grateful in the extreme for this mercy.

Outside the doors of the Great Hall, emptiness was taking over the hallways leading to it and with such an ominous feel to the place at the moment; it was no wonder that no more students entered the Hall once the presence drew nigh. Such an effect was a useful tool to drive off unwanted intruders; but that said nothing abut those that were still within. For they knew nothing of the presence that was now just outside the doors and if they did; they would have fled as fast as possible, but then again who wouldn't run when they smelled Death clinging to a person.
And the scent exploded in a sudden fury as the doors burst open and once more a familiar figure stood upon the threshold. It seemed that the students never seemed to learn; once an uninvited guest breaks into one's home and causing pain and suffering one must take measure to defend themselves or they had to end the problem at it's source. From what he saw; the arrogant fools of the school did nothing to impede his entrance and no attempts on his life had been made. Yet it was from their failure to realize that he might return once more; Fenris Fenrir toothly smiled as he strode down the rows of the tables; his face lit with a maniacal grin as he saw all of the potential meals.
But once more he had a greater task at hand; feeding was secondary compared to what was now at hand. Oh, and if that was now in the making succeeded; Fenrir would recieve his share in the gain; he would be able to eat as many students as possible. How he longed for that moment; to be told that he could sample all that the school had to sample; from the native Brits to more exotic students. How would their flavor vary from what he had already tasted? But such thoughts only took his mind of the task at hand.
The black-haired man continued to walk down the long rows of tables; past bustling and happy students who seemed unaware of the menace that bore such malice against them. Finally; he stopped his stroll and turned so that he stood directly behind two girls that seemed to be chatting about the most unlikely of things; a talking stick. Fenris let out a sharp bark of laughter and his harsh voice once more echoed across the Hall. "To think that a stick could talk! But then again; to think that such intelligent people as you humans claim yourselves to be would learn from their mistakes. For clearly you have not; once the stray has found a source of food surly you must know that it will return. You should have locked the doors kiddies; for now the stray is back and is looking for more than a morsel. Fenris Fenrir has returned!"

At once Kira's Speaking Cane pipped up.
"Danger! A Lycan of ill intent approaches! Please find the nearest exit, immediately!" It seemed about as eager to get away as any of the students.
"Not him again!" said Ashlle. She grabbed one of the students sitting near her. "You! Take care of my friend with the cane! She can't see and might need some help getting out. I'll deal with this menace! The boy nodded, almost as frightened of her as he was of the boisterous Lycan.
Even though the threat of Danawi was clearly passed Ashlle had not stopped carrying her hunters weapons everywhere she went, at least while in school. She jumped on top of the Gryffindor table and called out to the wayward Fenris.
" Fenris Fenrir! You are in direct violation of this Establishments Code of Conduct!" She pulled out her Lycanthopic Gun and pointed it down at him. " Leave now, or I will be forced to shot you, in the Name of the BFC."
Not Many people knew it but Ashlle was a Hunter for the BFC (Black Forest Church). They had contacted her in her first year at MH and had not stopped haunting her until she had captured her first Assignment, the Demon Prince Lahral.

She was tired of rabbit and squirrel, that's the only reason she found herself in the castle again. Hunger, and lack of suitable meals in the forest. No pesky humans as of late, and the stags seemed to have gotten smarter and learner to stay away. And so, unwilling to starve, she'd made her way to the castle, and sat in a spot empty of humans with her plate of chicken.
But then another lycan came in. This one obviously more malicious, evil intent clear in his eyes. Sniffing slightly, she caught the scent of Cealla mingled with his own. So this is the human she turned.. she said, recalling having heard of Cealla's mistake. From what the rumors said, he was a vicious lycan with no scrupples.
Evil or not, she wasn;t one to allow a human to pull out a weapon on a lycan. Push her plate aside she stood, moving with the speed and grace known to her kind, stopping until she was standing directly behind the Gryffindor. Wrapping one hand around the girl's ankle, she yanked hard before leaping up to snatch the gun from her hands. Flinging it casually across the great hall, she smirked cooly at the girl.
"Little humans really shouldn't play with such dangerous toys.." she said, her tone mocking and dripping contempt.

Kira was just about to ask Ashlle about her own heritage when the Great Hall fell almost silent. She turned in her seat, straining to hear what had caused the sudden change in demeanor. Footsteps behind her chair alerted her that someone was there, but did not provide further clues as to the identity of the person. Despite knowing someone was there, the voice that followed the footsteps startled her.
"To think that a stick could talk! But then again; to think that such intelligent people as you humans claim yourselves to be would learn from their mistakes."
She scowled at the comment, never having been one to like being talked down to, and rose from her chair. She had no idea what she was going to do once she was standing, but just felt she would be better off in an upright position. Grabbing her cane, which was still wailing warnings, she turned to face the speaker, muttering a hushed "shut up" to the stick in her hand.
"I don't know who you are, sir," she started, voice strong and still unaware of the danger she was most likely putting herself in. "But I would appreciate a bit of common courtesy, as I'm sure everyone else in this room would. So, if you please, drop the superior tone."
Shocked at her own bravery (even if it was a bit foolhardy), Kira stood stock-still, re-playing in her mind what she had just done. Ashlle's leap onto the table brought her back to the present and she shrugged off the insistent tugging of her arm, urging her to get to a safer place.
"I can take care of myself, thank you," she snapped at the well-meaning boy Ashlle had ordered to help her. "You should remember that, too, Ashlle."
Moments later she heard a scuffle near her head and a clatter at the other end of the room, followed by another, female, voice. Suddenly realizing her situation, she felt the blood drain from her face.
What have I gotten myself into?

Ashlle growled at the Rayne as she got to her feet: "Stay out of this unless you want charges brought upon yourself as well! You know not who your messing with. I am a Ninth degree Assassin for the BFC. You would eat among us, but you wouldn't defend us? For Shame!"
Still if there were two Lycans in the room there were probably more. Ashlle pushed passed Rayne and grabbed Kira by the arm gently. "I am leaving. Will you come?" she asked like they were leaving a party that had suddenly become dull for Ashlle, yet there was a hint of urgency in her voice.
OOC: Urrr sorry for the short post Gah . . . can't think!
